The important thing to do with this Matt Hardy thing is to not just have him come back and wrestle. He has to keep coming back, get arrested multiple times, attack Edge with a baseball bat outside the arena. Him just coming back as if nothing happened and wrestling again would be really stupid.

I laughed my ass off last night when I saw the promo for Boogeyman. I was like "Oh my God this is that guy who was so cheesy that the OVW student laughed at him!" I couldn't believe they would bring this guy up to the roster, but I don't really mind. Hell the world needs an occasional horrible gimmick that makes everyone laugh.

Okay I got the camera today and have it put together. Been messing with it a bit, just some general filming around in my apt. and over at my parents' house a bit. A couple of things are curious to me however. When I shoot indoors it looks great, but once I get it outside it is way too bright looking. Very harsh. How can I adjust this? Do I need some sort of filter? Oh and I can't figure this mic out thus far. From what I've heard thus far it won't do, I'll need an external. There's also a tiny silver battery (thing type you'd put in your car remote for locking and unlocking) and for the life of me I can't figure out where it's supposed to go.

As far as Blade goes, I'd say the 2nd is one of the best comic movies I've seen. The first film is also pretty good but it has some lulls in it and I run hot and cold on Stephen Dorff. But the 2nd one for whatever reason really stuck with me, maybe it was the truly creepy vampire heels, or Ron Perlman as Reinhardt, or the excellent sets and action.

As deranged as it sounds I'd rather have an inconclusive JBL/Batista match at this upcoming show and do the blowoff at SS. Hassan has absolutely zero business being in a main event, much less at a big PPV like SS.

Where's the U of L love? Not that I'm predicting national title or anything, but in a bleh Big East this should be the Ville's first BCS appearance unless Brian Brohm chokes. Now 2006? That is the time. Brohm will be a junior, Michael Bush a senior, and we've got Miami here.

Buddy Holly is a fun little song with a great video...take away the video and the song doesn't have quite the same impact. I never said Weezer was a bad band, but they're hardly an all time classic band. I even have most of their CDs aside from the new one, but when I go back and listen it's just not the sort of timeless stuff that works years later. How much older Weezer stuff still gets played? I might hear Buddy Holly every now and then on the radio. But Longview, Come Out and Play, etc.? Still played often, still fresh and enjoyable.

I'm highly intrigued at this Heyman thing. Hey, why not make Heyman the booker for OVW? I might actually start going to the shows more often if he took over and made it a crazed ECW style show. As far as Holly shooting on Dupree, I can't remember the exact details of the situation. If Dupree fucked up enough to deserve it, I don't mind so much....if Holly just took liberties then that sucks. JBL/Meanie doesn't fit in here since Meanie hadn't even DONE anything to earn being beat down, so yeah JBL was sleaze here. Here's the sort of thing I mean. Let's say this student cracks up and Cornette is pissed. Next time this kid has a training session have a more tenured OVW guy be stiffer than normal with him, not to do any real damage but just send the message that those sort of screwups won't be tolerated.

People tend to forget things like inflation. Yeah, Begins is set to pass Returns but it hasn't REALLY passed it.

Well the first time on SMDN it was a joke but I can kinda see putting the IC on Carlito since he's actually over now. He's still awful in the ring however, thus jobbing RVD or whoever out to him would be a farce.

The Marlins had the all time fluke bullshit run ever in 2003. There is no way they are doing anything again. It's odd though, because their record doesn't really equal the team stats. They are highly ranked in the NL in both hitting and pitching, so something isn't quite right here. I agree with what Al said. The Marlins winning the WS in 03 was the worst possible thing that could have happened. In those playoffs you had the Cubs, Yankees, Marlins, and Red Sox. Which of those teams winning the Series would produce by far the least interest? And guess which team won.

Weezer's first album is seriously overrated. Buddy Holly is still an amusing listen on occasion in a dated sort of way, The Sweater Song was always a stupid song, the first 3 on the album are decent songs but not anything jaw dropping. The 2nd half of that album is highly forgettable aside from the slightly notable Say It Ain't So. To me at least that album doesn't have the timeless appeal of Green Day's Dookie or Offspring's Smash from that time period. I'd concur on AIC, and I'm tempted to add Soundgarden to it but I think they peaked with Superunknown and there wasn't much more for them to do. Cream is another I'd agree with, it seems like Clapton goes in some other direction right as he gets going. Here's one no one has mentioned: Saxon. I was looking them up the other day for God knows what reason and saw how well regarded their early 80s albums are, and then once they went into 80s hair metal their career really tanked.

Well I think one thing I liked about Fantastic 4 was that it wasn't all this woe is me crap that a lot of recent comic movies have had. I mean yeah The Thing had a bit of that going, but it was balanced out by Johnny Storm digging his powers a lot. And Reed Richards was concerned about the ramifications of their new powers and wanted to learn more, but he wasn't like "Oh these powers are a curse!" One bizarre aspect of Dr. Doom in this is that they mention he's from Latveria and yet he doesn't seem at all like a foreign guy. They could well do a sequel where Doom ends up back in Latveria where he would take over. And yes, the whole corporate double crossing reminded me of Norman Osborne. If you take the European background of Magneto and cross it with the "rich guy screwed by his company" schtick of the Goblin, you arrive at Dr. Doom here.

If you notice in comics it seems like a lot of characters have blue/green eyes. I think it just adds color to the book. I liked it quite a bit by the way. They sort of treat Dr. Doom like a jobber in some ways, but Johnny Storm was great. It was refreshing to finally see a superhero in a movie that was thrilled with having his powers and used them as anyone would (fame, picking up chicks, etc) in addition to fighting the evil villain.

The saddest aspect of this entire thread is not so much Hassan might declare a jihad on Smackdown. It's the thought of them seriously giving a guy who sucks as much dick as he does a title shot on a major PPV like Summerslam.

Here's the main difference: If a wrestler fucks up in the ring and a veteran stiffs him, it's a part of the business. Hazing perhaps, but it's part of paying dues. That said, I haven't heard of such protocol when it comes to being smacked around physically by the promoter or booker. It's a matter of power as to who can do stuff like this. I've heard stories about Bill Watts hitting Shane Douglas and what not, but Watts was a tough guy wrestler in his day. I haven't heard of Vince actually attacking someone, though obviously some guys have gone after him (Nailz, Bret, etc). But fucking Jim Cornette, a guy who was a manager and then promoter of a 2nd rate feeder promotion? No way should anybody--trainee or not--take physical abuse from him. Sure, maybe the kid screwed up but this Boogeyman guy is a lame gimmick anyway so cut him some slack. It's worth pulling the guy aside and saying "Don't break character and laugh at the talent again or you're outta here." But there's no way I'd pay Jim Cornette money and then have him slap me around, no fucking way.

That's my point. I won't go off on my rant on my feelings towards KOTR 2002 and Brock's initial push, suffice to say I haven't ever liked the guy and can't think of anything that will make me. He always struck me as Bob Backlund on roids, except Backlund could do a crazy psycho better. As far as his in ring ability goes, he's ok. Nothing amazing. When going against a quality opponent like Eddie or Angle he looks pretty decent. But when in there with another hoss power guy like Goldberg..well everyone knows what happened there.

One thing that needs to be mentioned....this guy was a student who was PAYING OVW to be there. I mean seriously, if I wanted to I could go down the road to the ghetto known as Newburg and try out for OVW (not in good enough shape though) and I would certainly not put up with Cornette slapping me around. The guys in the back would have to pull me off his ass if he did that to me. Vince? I might put up with him smacking me, haha. But Cornette? Fuck no.

Had the box out, had some tapes, etc. Then they wouldn't take my Discover (it was the first time I'd used it, apparently the limit was just 1000). It also wouldn't take my debit. Thus I'm gonna go back on Monday and then write them a check.

Just wondering but why doesn't that Ioan Gruffud dude change his name? I heard it's Welsh but it's pronounced more like Ian Griffith. Why not just use Ian Griffith as his screen name? I might go see this tonight, can't say I'm heavily anticipating it though.

Here's one question: Where exactly are they supposed to go with Hassan's character? His whole whiny gimmick of saying how oppressed he is is getting really tired. Look, he can't ever really be turned face...I mean who has ever heard of an Arab face? Fact is, a vaguely terrorist character will be a better heel than a whiny bitch heel who complains about being oppressed. Wrestling has always done this stuff. In the late 40s and 50s you had the stereotypical German and Japanese heels, then later the Russian and Iranian heels. Hell during the Gulf War I remember on USWA they had a guy called Saddam Hussein. If it's that offensive, just turn the channel when the guy shows up.

One thing I've noticed is that on both ATH and PTI there has become an almost unhealthy obsession with the Yankees. It's become more noticeable of late, not sure why. Perhaps I didn't notice as much when the Yankees were actually WINNING and going deep in the playoffs, but this year it's really getting on my nerves hearing this constant shit about "What will Steinbrenner do? How will the Yankees get back to the World Series?" This is a team that isn't even the WC team right now bear in mind. I wish they would just shut the fuck up about the Yankees constantly. It seems Wilbon is the only guy there who tells it like it is in regards to a lot of people outside the NE not giving a shit about Yankees/Sox and wanting to hear about some other teams that are having good years.

In theory isn't being a pirate alone sort of like the dark side? I would assume this is taking place around the South China Seas where there have actually been some pirates. Having Chow Yun Fat show up in the Caribbean would be a little odd.

Well I know that sort of thing worked for Rodriguez in El Mariachi but he had a film he was doing 1. In Spanish and 2. There wasn't a whole lot of dialogue. My script has all sorts of dialogue including lengthy monologues from a few characters. Check it out and you'll see what I mean.
