One and Only "ECW: One Night Stand" Thread

Well in the case of the Sandman yeah it does in fact matter. On the other ECW tapes/DVDs I've seen they edit out the real song too and it's always weak.

Ha, I'd like to see that too but RVD beating HHH for the title is like living in a fantasy world. And dude, there is no way in hell I want RVD dicking around with a black hole of heat like Chris Masters. With Jericho, what would RVD have to prove? He's already beaten Jericho about 100 times. I can see giving a guy a midcard title like the IC to try and establish him, but RVD is already established and needs to move out of the division.

This sounds like an ultra rushed hackjob of this PPV. After reading this I don't think I even want to buy it.

So who does Cena face at Summerslam?

Not really because it'll likely be Batista against either JBL or Randy Orton and neither of those will be worth a shit. I would think it'd be Cena/Edge, the world BADLY needs a breather from HHH at this point. Sure he'll fuck over Cena eventually but for now they need to have a dominant face as champ. Herein lies a problem with HHH: He's too important to go to the midcard and put over younger guys, but yet he's stale as shit in the main event. I don't care who it is but when a guy starts jobbing left and right it kills the significance of the job. As already pointed out, if Cena beats HHH...so what? He's just doing what Batista already did. If he jobs to HHH, he looks really bad because HHH has been jobbing to Batista.

I'd just as soon we have Carlito get himself DQed against RVD whenever they do that match...RVD can beat him down but Carlito gets DQed and retains. Then move Van Dam on to something useful. Disturbingly enough I'd say an RVD/HHH feud would make quite a bit of sense, though I can't remember a really GOOD match they've ever had. Those matches are the epitome of HHH making an opponent look bad by insisting on doing stuff that isn't RVD's specialty (NWA style mat wrestling, long term selling of a leg, etc). If they had a wild no holds barred brawl where Van Dam could do his thing it might be good.

    Smackdown Spoilers

I actually agree with Batista/JBL here but Batista has to flat out dominate him. After that it's time to get JBL out of the main event scene considering he would have jobbed at 3 PPVs to two different champs. Sadly we'll probably get Batista/Orton for SS at this point. Batista/Eddie makes little sense stylewise, Batista/Christian was a squash on Raw anyway.

    Smackdown Spoilers

The Canadian Flavor thing was lame though, his main motive for going there was because he thought Cena was a joke, a Vanilla Ice wannabe, and he wanted to win the title from him. What's he gonna do now, feud with Mark Jindrak since he and Tomko joked about Jindrak?

    Smackdown Spoilers

Batista staying on Raw makes absolutely no fucking sense considering that Cena is prime for the top spot there and given Batista's nonexistent screen time tonight. I think it's time to get rid of this draft nonsense. Maybe do some trades all through the year to get a guy who is stale onto another show, but this thing is making a mess of the entire roster.

    Smackdown Spoilers

I'd just trade RVD for Christian then. Van Dam going to Raw makes no sense and Christian makes no sense on SMDN with no Cena to feud with, that was his whole point of going. I can see Bischoff trading RVD back because he doesn't want "ECW trash" on his roster.

    Smackdown Spoilers

By the way I just read on wrestlingobserver.com that Christian is the draft pick for SMDN. WTF? I mean the only point in him going to the show was to face Cena, but now Cena is on Raw. What is Christian going to do there?

Well if Eddie is doing creepy shit with Rey's son it either means he's his real dad or there's some Michael Jackson shit going on here. Either way it sounds like a surefire way to kill a good feud.

The OAO RAW Thread - 6/27/05

You know, if they would trade both Batista and HHH to Smackdown Raw might be quite the joyous program again. I'm fairly sure on Batista being the main guy going but the 2nd? I dunno. Jericho makes sense due to him doing the Highlight Reel and Carlito is doing the Cabana, can't see room for both on Raw (unless perhaps they feud over this?). As I said, Shelton makes sense given that he's jobbed out of the IC scene and wasn't even on Raw tonight. HHH would be a surprise I have to admit, but I dunno about a show with both HHH and JBL.

    Smackdown Spoilers

I'm just glad Eddie and Rey both stayed on SMDN, they're pretty much all that is worth seeing on the show. But man, if this leads to something like Eddie being the real father of Rey's son, that is all kinds of Russo level bad.

CanadianChick, I'm fairly sure that Angle dumped RVD on his head as a receipt for RVD constantly busting him open with kicks or Van Daminators. I always liked those matches too, it wasn't an outright feud per se but they were a blast. I'd say those RVD matches pretty much killed Angle's chances at ever being a top level face. I remember right after Sept. 11 Angle feasibly should have been the most over face in the company, yet RVD (who was still ostensibly a heel) was getting by far the bigger crowd reactions. And he also beat the shit out of Kurt in nearly every match to boot, in particular the non title Smackdown match where RVD beat the holy hell out of Angle and left him laying in a pool of blood. I believe that was the match where RVD earned Austin a title shot by proxy.

    Bad Games That You Love

Here's another Game Gear brawler that I liked: Streets of Rage. The Game Gear was a curious invention really, a hand held portable that was too big to conveniently carry around (like a Game Boy). Add to it that you had to get a wall plug in charger or change batteries every 2 hours and it's no wonder the format never got all that popular. Renegade is a fun game, the main thing that kinda sucks though is that about 12 guys attack you at once. It doesn't have the cliches of stuff like Double Dragon where one or two attack at a time. The main boss on Renegade is named SABU I might add.

Aero, I'd love to see it again. RVD/Angle was some great shit during the Invasion, although probably the feud that cost RVD the title because he kept busting Angle open EVERY time. Angle's wife even wrote a net diatribe about RVD being too rough on her husband, haha. I'm not sure what sort of character RVD is going to be...I'd almost make him an edgy tweener who didn't give a shit and was pissed at everything.

The OAO RAW Thread - 6/27/05

I can't possibly see this RVD thing being a permanent deal. If SMDN is going to do something with ECW there is no way they can possibly keep RVD on Raw. Hell, jobbing him to Carlito is even worse than jobbing to Kenzo Suzuki...at least Kenzo has a FINISHER, even if it's that lame claw hold.

The OAO RAW Thread - 6/27/05

This was a real solid Raw tonight but I changed the channel during the Diva crap and will continue to do so. Isn't it interesting that the last couple times HHH hasn't been on Raw the quality of the show goes up a great deal? I loved the Flair/Angle match tonight with Flair realizing he can't outwrestle Angle and doing every cheating, dirty trick he could think of. When it was over I thought it was certainly better than the rest filled Michaels match from Vengeance. I have no idea however why RVD was traded to Raw. This move makes zero sense to me, especially if they want to do some sort of ECW stuff on Smackdown. And oh great, RVD dicking around pointlessly in the IC division....again. I'm feeling Carlito as a transition guy that sets up an RVD/Shelton match that people would actually want to see. Let's face it, whether you like it or not Carlito fucking sucks in the ring...the guy has literally no credible offensive moves and no finisher. Him going over Van Dam (especially in RVD's return) would be a complete joke. Other than that I quite liked this Raw tonight....Batista didn't get much screen time due to him likely going to Smackdown. The other guy I dunno about, I'd say either Jericho since they can't have two interview segments...or dare I say Shelton Benjamin? He has jobbed twice to Carlito now and wasn't even on Raw tonight.

    Fixing the Yankees

The Yankees are the biggest argument for a salary cap when they spend a huge amount and win, and they are a good argument against it when they spend 200 million to be moderately better than the Tigers. I agree with the Sharks comment, though it doesn't seem all that similar on the surface. It isn't like the Yankees haven't sucked before, in fact they were mediocre for most of the 1980s up until the 94 strike year. Does anyone else think that the Yankees might have simply lost their mojo after the ALCS loss to the Red Sox?

The OaO "Land of the Dead" talkback thread

As much as I liked Shaun of the Dead it's insulting that it actually has a higher rating on IMDB than either NOTLD or the original DOTD. In regards to people being bitten here, I noticed that too. I noticed how cynical this new one was in regards to this. In past zombie movies people would get attacked but then everyone would wait till they turned before killing them again. In LOTD, someone gets bit and they're like fuck it and just shoot em. It was a nice touch that showed how society was decaying even further from the previous films.

    OAO Vengeance Thread

Michaels/Angle from last night had a couple of notable spots I thought and a bunch of dull stuff in between. Like the belly to back on the announce table...wicked. Or Angle powerbombing Shawn into the turnbuckle. Finish was also cool, though not as good as Shelton flying into the superkick. I think when they give guys like Angle and Michaels 20+ mins. everyone goes batshit with the star ratings, even though they didn't really have 20 mins of actual substance there (unlike say Eddie/Rey from this past SMDN). It was big spot, rest, big spot, rest, finishers, etc. It was a good match but just as devoid of psychology as the Awesome/Tanaka match from the ECW PPV.

    Raw trade finals

If Eddie goes to Raw there is basically zero reason to watch Smackdown though. Over the past 4 months I can't think of much on the show that has been legit good besides the Eddie/Rey stuff. Angle/Booker was so bad it was good, but not legit good.

    OAO Vengeance Thread

Angle and Michaels had way too much resting going on it it for my taste, I would tune out at various points. I should think it's also because I knew Shawn was getting his job back, so why should I really CARE? This PPV wasn't as good as ECW One Night Stand. That PPV was fist pumping, anarchic fun with a psycho hot crowd. A show is not made great by having a couple of good matches, it's by not having stuff that sucks dick on it. Nothing on the ECW PPV really sucked, whereas the Viscera segment was terrible here, the women's match was lame, etc.

After last night, can we finally end the myth

HHH puts people over when he absolutely has to. I mean if he said to Benoit "Fuck you, I am not jobbing to you" the whole roster would have revolted since Benoit is well respected. Benoit is also no serious threat to be a consisten main eventer. I'm not going to hold the Orton thing so much against HHH since Orton essentially tanked as a face. I mean yeah HHH had a bit to do with it but Orton is another case of giving a guy a belt way too fast and the fans not really accepting it. HHH never jobbing to Jericho is one thing but I'm so used to it by this point that I don't care a whole lot. Also at this point the WWF was going strong and it wasn't as odd. The 3 biggest egregious sins is the holy trinity of burial: RVD, Kane, and Booker T. Kane is the least of these but take into consideration that he humiliated Kane by calling him a necrophiliac, took his mask, etc. And Kane NEVER got a win? It's the least however because Kane was never going to be a perennial main eventer, but maybe a guy to throw in a main here and there. RVD is in my view the biggest example. After SS 02 Van Dam was once again on a roll, beating Benoit, unifying the IC title with the hardcore and Euro, he was bad ass. Then of course came the disgusting HHH/RVD match with the Flair heel turn, a match that still has negative repercussions to this day. From there it was the Elimination Chamber, RVD jobs. Then RVD is made to be a bitch in the HHH/Michaels crap despite being more over than either. In fact RVD was perhaps the most over guy in the company from July 2001-Sept. 2002, but this "feud" with HHH started the slow killing of his heat. Booker T is another feud that sickened me, since HHH did all this racist crap to Booker and never had to pay for it, never lost the title to him, etc. Just jobbing to him at WM or ONCE would have made this less pathetic.

    OAO Vengeance Thread

The PPV was fairly good tonight, though the whole Viscera/Lillian/GF segment killed the crowd. I think that is instinctively why I liked the ECW PPV better than this. There was no time to be bored. There wasn't a whole lot of wasted time with pointless things on that PPV (even the JBL/Angle speeches had a point)....it got you on a high and kept you there. HHH/Batista is over and done with. There is absolutely nowhere to go with this and frankly the way HHH has jobbed out of late it's hard to just put him vs. Cena for the WWE title right off the bat. Dare I say HHH of all people needs some enhancement wins to get back some cred? That said this match tonight may have finally cemented Batista, even if it took the 3rd time. It was certainly Dave's best match to date. I think he'll head over to Smackdown now, where I figure he'll face JBL in a unification type match (where Batista has to win, they can't have the nothing "Smackdown title" beat the World champ). I dunno who the other guys would be though, maybe Jericho or Shelton from Raw but I have no idea who from SMDN could go without wrecking the show even more. I'm talking Eddie or Rey being traded.
