That's it, you're making me do this....tonight I am watching the DVD of Commando.

If Harry is any good at all he'll get over gangbusters. I swear after that ONE Confidential piece on him and Davey Boy (this being right after Bulldog's death) my dad asks me if they will ever sign "Bulldog's boy." I remember seeing Teddy on an NWA PPV a couple years ago and I thought he was awesome. I think it was Juventud he wrestled in some cruiser tourney.

Yeah fuck this stuff with the TV title, that is nothing at this point. If they really want to do something mindblowing in continuity they'd just bring in Rhino with the ECW world title and job him to RVD. It'd give RVD his big world title win at long last if nothing else, although at least 5 years too late.

I still think people are worried way too much about this. Here's one thing that needs to be mentioned: Many of ECW's PPVs really weren't all that great. I'm not sure why but it seemed to me that Heyman would book some of his best stuff on free TV, stuff like that Wrestlepalooza 97 show (another show where WWF guys invaded I might add, or at least Lawler did). I mean, hell that same year ECW had that great show and also the Funk/Sabu barbed wire match...none of which was even on a PPV. In terms of the previous comment about "This show will either be all time great stuff or total shit" I doubt it'll really end up totally either one. I figure the WWE guys invading will end up being pretty silly stuff, but several of the actual matches could be fun.

God no. Anything but that. If you'd like a Final 4 game with Pitt vs. Cincy then SA vs. Detroit is your series. Seriously, the Pistons are so fucking unwatchable. I try, I really do. Then I see nothing but people bricking shots, hacking...I can accept that stuff in college games but I expect more from pros. Besides, the Spurs are about as tough and can shoot infinitely better than Detroit. It'd be over in 5.

The squash match has always been to let a guy you really don't want to push THAT hard get some wins on TV. Hell, if you watched Superstars circa 1988 you probably thought Dino Bravo was a good wrestler...he'd squash jobbers. I'm thinking Angle will be the guy drafted to Raw, thus ending this silly feud with Booker....thus he can simply join Bischoff's brigade of gimps. I have to admit I loved that footage of Taz punking out Angle at the ECW show in 1996. I'm telling you, Kurt has no idea what he's getting himself into here....does he really want to see the old Taz? By the way I am not sure of this but my bro said on the Dudleys ad that this ECW PPV is rated TV 14....what the fuck? How can it not be TV M? I expect insane amounts of profanity and blood.

I'd let New Jack take out some bums like Tomko and Snitsky, but I'd feel uneasy if I was Vince having my top guys (Edge, Angle, JBL) in the ring with that nut. Basically I figure they'll have the purely ECW guys either fight even Steven with the WWE guys or maybe get a slight edge....it'll be the WWE guys on the ECW PPV that are allowed to take down the invading jobbers.

I think that dude's name is Brian Thompson. That is one fucked up dude right there. Shame his character was so underwritten in the film...we never get what his whole "New World Order" thing is, who all is involved, why the police chick joined up with him (the evil Stockard Channing looking chick!). It's almost like they cut 20m or so out of the movie. This wasn't the only Stallone movie I saw this week. I also got the DVD of Over the Top that just came out. It doesn't get much more gold than seeing a huge redneck armwrestler guzzle down Valvoline. Over the Top is one of those movies that you can't unsee....it just stays with you for life. I remember seeing it when I was about 7-8 at the theater, and for some reason it still bears on my mind.

I guess I wasn't totally clear...it's not that I didn't know that Palpatine was the Emperor/Sidious, it's just that it wasn't a coherent concept that was clear in the film. As in if you had never seen a Star Wars movie before, would you make the connection? Phantom Menace is simply way too kiddie oriented to appeal to me at this point. Saying Jar Jar sucks and dismissing it is almost impossible...he's all over the film. He's in it, that Mexican Fly slaveowner dude is in it, the Trade Federation are the main heels....it blows. As far as Maul goes, he looks cool, has a cool lightsaber, but he is essentially a nothing character. Dooku is a vastly better character, possibly because he's played by a real actor.

Well considering that she just ditched Kane I tend to now doubt she really wanted to have his baby. I still don't think this is THAT botched. I mean, these Raw and SMDN dipshits won't take up all that much time. It might have a brief bit showing them in the crowd, and then the inevitable fight.

At this point Tyson isn't even about winning fights. It's all about the car wreck appeal, and frankly if he's going to job to bums then there isn't much of that either. That Danny Williams fight was here in Louisville...I have no idea why anyone would pay a few hundred to see it. Sure, this jobber here has a shot, if Tyson could lose to Williams he could lose here too.

Spurs back in the finals again. I bet David Stern is just thrilled...another year of lousy ratings. Either way I'm not going to be terribly excited about the finals. We either get the matchup from hell (SA vs. Detroit) that will prove unwatchable, or we get Shaq vs. Duncan for the umpteenth time.

Yeah I know, it was at the beginning of the film...thing is, the first time I watched it I didn't make hardly any connection between Palpatine and the Emperor/Sidious. I mean, I inferred it but it was never particularly well explained. I didn't understand who the Trade Federation even WERE at first, or why Sidious was involved with them, etc. For films supposedly aimed at kids the prequels don't have exactly mainstream storytelling.

Oh God, speaking of cheesy 80s actioners I watched Cobra tonight. Watching it you realize how thin of a line it is between genius (Commando) and crap. One main problem that these Stallone movies have is the silly preaching involved. When you hear the preachy "criminals have rights, victims don't" trash in Cobra or the embarrassing Vietnam exploitation of Rambo, it's all the more refreshing to just put on Commando. I think Arnold realized more that goofy action movies are escapist fare, thus his stuff is easier to take nowdays than Stallone.

Well it's simple: Benoit will take out Edge or whoever. Look, they might let the regular ECW guys take out Tomko or Maven, but it'll be Benoit or Jericho who takes out the big boys. There have to be repercussions here. Bischoff won't take his humiliation lightly. Don't you think he'll try to punish the Raw guys who participate at the PPV?

You know what's funny? The other night I couldn't help but think of the Red Sox when Phoenix won that game.

Vernon Wells was the man though. It's weird that he was one of those freaky dudes in the assless chaps in Road Warrior (Wez)....he looked nothing like Bennett in that film. Commando is the ultimate 80s guilty pleasure. Just the fastest, silliest 90 mins. you'll ever spend. It's a video game come to life, and Bennett is the main boss.

Where did you find all that shit out, CBright? It scares me that someone would be THAT into the Trade Federation. I don't remember any of those other gimps even being mentioned in the films. I know the Trade Federation wasn't supposed to be strong, total chickenshit heels. The problem is though that I never found the whole scheme of Palpatine manipulating them all that coherent in Phantom Menace, mainly because Palpatine/Sidious doesn't get much screen time in it (neither does Maul for that matter). Basically we are thus stuck with the Trade Federation as the main heels in that film, and they suck.

Thing is, why on earth would ANYONE book something like that? It's the single dumbest thing they could think of doing and it certainly won't happen. The fact that people have nostalgia for 911 illustrates me point. The guy was positively a bum but yet Heyman found something for him to do...you're telling me Heyman would refuse to employ guys like Maven, Tomko, etc.?

If Justin was still in WWE he'd be about the same level as Maven, they are comparable in terms of talent. Put Maven in with Jerry Lynn and he too could have a decent match. Is Lynn on this PPV?

Curry, that'd draw heat off the charts. It seems like stuff Piper would do 20 years ago. When RVD gets back he logically fits into this whole Eddie/Rey storyline, given he tagged with Rey before his injury and also his past history with Eddie.

By the way did anyone read Dave Scherer's bizarre rant on Raw and the ECW PPV? He said all this stuff like "Back in the day guys like Snitsky, Maven, and Tomko would be buying a ticket to an ECW show, not getting anywhere near the ring!" I mean, what the fuck? For all the waxing poetic about ECW they employed guys like fucking Sal E. Graziano, 911, Hack Myers, the Pit Bulls, etc. To say that ECW would have refused to ever employ these guys is ridiculous. Hell, Heyman put the world title on a guy with similar talent to Maven (Justin Credible).

These guys aren't actually WRESTLING on the PPV are they? I thought they were useless drones that are going to sit in the crowd and hassle the ECW guys (a la the XPW dumbshits)...then get taken out back and have the shit kicked out of them by New Jack and Balls Mahoney, haha. They desperately need to announce a card on TV though. I mean who the hell is going to pay for a PPV when they don't know ANY matches? The way this is being built you'd think it would be 3 hours of Bischoff's idiots invading the PPV with no actual wrestling.

At this point Christian has to go to SMDN if for no other reason to have some kind of payoff for him constantly badmouthing the show and Cena in particular. I'd bring him in and do the slow burn bit, have him constantly trash Cena and pick up a few victories to establish himself. Just calling out the main eventers can get a guy over....hell it worked for Austin in 1996.

HHH is like this big cancer on Raw that prevents anything remotely new or exciting from ever happening. Shelton could go out there and have a MOTYC and still be in the same place next month. And suppose Shelton DOES get a push to the main event....it'll just be him instead of Batista doing the whole schtick with HHH of maybe winning the title and then jobbing it back at some point. Hell, HHH with the title fighting different people is better than him jobbing and yet STILL getting rematch after rematch without doing shit to deserve it. Whether a show is live or taped is insignificant compared to the quality of the shows. I mean is a crappy Raw better than a good taped SMDN? If anything the taped nature of SMDN makes it easier for me switch to another channel if something truly horrid is going to happen, or some Diva nonsense, etc. What I think is needed is some sort of new concept. I think an ECW type faction who didn't give a shit about anything would be interesting, but I dunno if Vince would allow those guys to wreak holy hell on either show.
