I'm baffled as to why anyone would seriously want Hassan and Daivari beating Hogan and Michaels. It would suck horribly and the crowd would have shit all over it, and not in a heel heat way. People buy Hassan as a heel Arab, like to boo him, but he's not a credible in ring force since he, you know, SUCKS. Having those bums go over two icons is a sick joke and I'm glad they didn't do it. Hell I bet Daivari felt privileged just to job there. If HBK had gotten Jannetty as his partner then I can see giving the win to the Arabs. Incidentally what's up with Jannetty anyway? Isn't he supposed to be back?

Agreed. HHH/JBL would keep both of those guys away from anything important and the mic work could be good (HHH for once trashing a guy the fans hate anyway). Thing is both guys are so incredibly boring in the ring that it'll suck once the match starts.

I could give a shit less what the Sonics did against the Heat, Spurs, or anyone else in the regular season. It's the REGULAR SEASON of the NBA. By definition no one gives a shit, not the players, nobody. Hell the Grizzlies beat the Suns in the reg. season...how'd that work out for them? If the Sonics play the Spurs they'll be gone in 5, maybe 6 games at best.

Obi Wan certainly put over the young talent. I think that Vader/Luke I was an extended squash since Luke was a punk at that point and had no shot of winning. Part II was a mismatch as well since Luke by that point was superior and Vader was past his prime. I dare say the best lightsaber stuff in the series is the Dooku/Obi Wan/Anakin/Yoda medley. That was a totally ECW style spotfest with all sorts of excitement.

I think Cena will hold it for a while but I do think Christian is a good pick to beat him for the title at this point. Eddie could still be screwing around with Rey if that feud gets bogged down for months. I thought Angle might be a choice but thing is he's held the title a bunch of times as either heel or face and never lit the world on fire. Angle is more of a safe pick rather than a gutsy move to draw money. Also, I think when RVD gets back they absolutely have to push him. Basically, SMDN is a curious show right now. Someone needs to be traded to Raw, it's a bit backlogged. I'd move JBL to Raw, a feud with him vs. HHH might be amusing. Not sure who is the face there though.

I think it'd be the best angle they would have done in years, but it takes considerable time to GET to it. 1. They have to sign Matt Hardy again. 2. They have to get Lita away from Kane (storyline marriage), which would mean she turns on him and shacks up with Edge. Thus, that'd mean a Kane/Edge feud before you could even bring back Matt. Let's say Edge wins that feud, then you bring back Matt. By that point this whole thing may well have died down.

On TV the crowd was sorta trashing Lita a little during the Kane segment, but during the match I didn't hear much. Christian is rocking right now. He's becoming that cocky tweener that everyone likes seeing. Hell he trashed all the main event guys regardless of heel/face distinction. I swear at this point they need to have Christian bring in Corey Haim to do a run in vs. Cena, haha.

I've been trashing this whole best of 7 thing during the thread as well. The world does not need a crappy Pacers/Celtics series to go 7. Hell has there even been a good game in that series yet? Nothing worse than watching two teams squash each other. And yes I still hope the Pacers win because Pistons/Celtics has ZERO charm or marketability, no heat, nada. You know what this Sonics/Kings series is? It's like an NCAA tourney game of the 8/9 seeds in the 1st round, where you know the winner will just get trashed by a 1 the next round. And now I'd like to laugh at Scottie Pippen for saying the Grizzlies were better than the Suns. What a fucking joke.

Fever Pitch only cost like 30 million I think so it should turn some sort of mild profit. I'm not sure I get the Fallon loathing, he's fairly harmless. I am just begging, PLEADING for fucking House of Wax to flop horribly. This shit with doing bad horror remakes needs to stop, and maybe Paris Hilton can finally kill this trend. Christ, I don't even see an evil sculptor in the film! Where the hell is the Lionel Atwill/Vincent Price character? I think Kingdom of Heaven looks good in the previews, at least it has the look of a big time blockbuster epic. We'll see if Orlando Bloom can finally draw money in something he has to carry.

I liked Backlash pretty well. The stuff I figured would deliver did (Jericho/Shelton, Benoit/Edge), the Hogan/Michaels match was fun for the crowd, hell I was practically rolling on the floor when Chris Masters interrupted the Divas (my bro and I have a running joke about how horrible he is). I hear about this HIAC rematch but at this point what exactly is the impetus? Batista beat HHH AGAIN, there is no issue here anymore. I thought once the ref went down there were gonna go through 5 refs a la UT/Shawn to set up the 1st HIAC. Seriously, HHH has become soooo god awful and boring in the ring. He seems so paranoid to ever let his opponent get any offense, even when logic dictates it! This was the 2nd match now where Batista needed to come out and just kill him for 10 mins, then HHH gets an advantage, then do the screwy finale. It's like his whole schtick is to emulate Hogan circa Starrcade 97. I don't see how HHH can win the title back at HIAC...I mean who the hell can he feud with?? Unless some guys come over from SMDN there really isn't much else on Raw.

Thing is, who gives a shit about half of these games? I mean, in the NCAA tourney for instance no one cares about Carolina squashing an 8 seed jobber, thus they show it to the local audience and the rest of the nation gets to see a better game like UK/Cincy or whatever. That's the brilliance of the NCAAs over the NBA playoffs: If a game sucks it's no biggie since there's a bunch of games they can switch to. If an NBA game sucks, you're basically stuck with it.

Oh ok, Small Soldiers. Heh, I was thinking of that movie with the kids at a military type school rallying against a bunch of terrorists who try to take the place over.

I picked up a cheap DVD of Bonfire of the Vanities the other day. I remembered seeing it on HBO years ago and thinking it was really good, yet the movie was getting trashed horribly by almost every critic (Maltin gives it a BOMB in his book for instance). Am I the only one who thinks this movie is highly underrated?

Oh yeah, these 1st round series going 7 is just excruciating. The NBA playoffs last forever already, adding 2 possible games to the 1st round makes it really dull. Celtics/Sixers huh? Why not just give the Heat a bye to the Finals?

Toy Soldiers was a good movie too, if I recall. But it's been well over a decade since I saw it. Anyway, I am looking forward to this movie but not as much as ROTK. No way. I know lots of people sorta knew the vague plot of ROTK if they read the book (i.e. ring being destroyed) but literally everyone knows what is going to happen in Episode 3. Already knowing exactly what is going to happen tends to mute my anticipation slightly.

It's a movie based on Tom Wolfe's novel, starring Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis, Melanie Griffith. It's a satire of 80s NYC, with a big time stockbroker (Hanks) and his mistress (Griffith) accidentally running down a black dude in the Bronx, and the media outcry and eventual trial of Hanks. Bruce Willis is a reporter who breaks the story and later tries to find out the truth.

I concur, Walker had to be suspended for a game at least. I mean you can't go around shoving the ref and expect NOT to be punished. Not shocking to see the Pistons lose a game. They didn't sweep anyone last year, not even the friggin Bucks.

Good, little Bobby needs a movie that'll put hair on his chest. Since the last SW movie we have seen both Two Towers and Return of the King, so suffice to say the bar has been raised for Lucas. He almost has to bust it out this time with an ultra bleak, hard hitting film.

My point about Eddie being conflicted is that a guy who is like "Gee, I dunno, should I turn heel or not?" doesn't draw money. The guy who just flat out turns heel is what draws. There should be some logic behind it (unlike say a Russo angle) but when it happens it just needs to HAPPEN. And yes, I agree that this Eddie turn basically has to lead to him vs. Cena at some point. I don't see the logic in Eddie going to Raw, he has unfinished Rey business and he's one of the few guys who could get anything out of Cena.

Why do rappers rip off such incredibly well known songs though? I mean sampling Crazy Train is opening yourself up to criticism. One of the more amusing samples though was Eminem's version of Toy Soldiers...who the hell cares about Martika these days? As far as worst song ever, hmm. Surely Fred Durst figures into this somewhere. How about Break Stuff?

My hometown Louisville has had a few bands that have sorta broke out, but no one really huge. Bands like Days of the New, Flaw, etc. I wouldn't say Louisville is the best city for music exactly, but it's probably top 10.

I agree on this Sonics/Kings series being yawn inducing. The Sonics by definition are going nowhere since they get the Spurs next round (hell I'd even take the Nuggets over them). And the Kings? Without Webber or even Doug Christie to make fun of these guys just don't have much of note. The Kings in the playoffs is like Val Venis hanging around 3 years past his push date.

I too read that Kevin Smith post and he got me really stoked for the movie. I have to wonder if the first two movies were to kinda lull us to sleep and then Lucas will come out and deliver his best movie. As in we start with this lighthearted, tedious stuff in Phantom Menace and then by the 3rd film we're in stunned disbelief as to how this little kid is now the baddest mofo ever.

I can assure you he won't have it for long...anyone who remembers the old Razor/Shawn angle knows that "He who carries a title after no longer being champ loses his bogus belt in a gimmick match." Will someone explain to me why JBL won the tourney? I mean it's one of those things I knew they were going to do, but yet it made no sense. Why book the guy who just lost the title to win a tourney and get a title shot? It'd be like Austin winning the SS 98 tourney right after losing the title...it makes no sense. The entire purpose of a tourney is to push a different guy, but JBL winning it defies the very point. Add to it we now get a shitty PPV main event rematch with JBL/Cena and it makes my eyes roll.

I can't say I'm especially stunned to read this, but was surprised that he died in the bizarre way he did. I think I read that the doc noted his drug scarring on the arms and was hesitant to give him much in the way of painkillers and medicine. So in a roundabout way the drugs had a role in his death. I liked Candido's ECW stuff against Lance Storm, but to be honest I expected to read something about him dying a good 5 years ago.
