WM 19 is a show that I saw while down in FL and for some reason it's a show I've never cared about enough to track down a tape or DVD of it. Most of it was sorta decent but the problem with the build is that it had a bunch of semi main event matches and no legit MAIN EVENT.

Val Venis is the epitome of a guy who needs to be released. He's just stale as all shit and there's just nothing more the guy can do at this point. I mean at various points the roster just needs to be cleansed of all the stale jobbers. Val hanging around for about 7 years is like Tatanka hanging around until about 1999. I submit that being in the Ministry didn't really kill anyone's career, mainly because for some bizarre reason people have a fondness for that campy angle. Being in the Right to Censor is what really killed Val's career dead. Basically everyone in that group has been released or is on life support (Val, Stevie).

When will people learn not to tape themselves fucking? You never know when that shit will come out. At this point in the storyline I don't get why they just don't turn Lita heel, have her turn on Kane, and shack up with Edge. It's really the only thing that makes any sense, and at least would justify the reactions Lita is getting. Unless they wanna release her or something. I think Matt at this point is turning this wronged man thing into a career unto itself. As in he's going around, giving interviews, and doing whatever he can to keep this in the public eye. Thing is, by stirring the shit and getting people to boo Lita even more, he's only hurting himself in terms of getting his job back. Maybe he doesn't give a shit, I dunno.

Well it's obvious that they added extra games to increase revenues, but god it makes the playoffs so boring. Did the NBA really need MORE games? There's also no rhythm to it...teams play, then rest for 3 days, then play, rest, etc. Compare this to the primo NCAA tourney scheduling where it's 1st round on Thurs-Fri., then 2nd round Sat-Sun., then rest, then do it again the next week. It's basically 3 weeks and it's over. It seemed like a few years ago these things just moved faster. As in some awful Bulls/Wizards series, it'd be "Jordan squashes them twice in Chicago, they take a day off, squash them again. Series." Last year I recall this really hideous Heat and Hornets series, two jobbers that somehow were the 4/5 matchup and it went 7. It was just awful, some of the worst games I've ever seen and yet they KEPT PLAYING.

Weekend Boxoffice Report, April 22-24
cabbageboy replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
Genius, 2 Fast 2 Furious without Vin Diesel made as much or more the opening weekend, though it finished a little less overall. Besides, I think Ice Cube has more consistent box office appeal than Diesel anyway. -
I'm glad the Nuggets won tonight, hell I hope they win the series. It's not that I hate the Spurs really but I'm just bored as shit with them. I tend to notice the lack of toughness as well with the Spurs...sometimes they just seem to fold or not be able to do anything. I even thought that when they won the title in 2003, it's just then they didn't really play anyone who had their act together. They desperately need to cut this opening round back to 5 games. Does the world really need to see the Bulls/Wizards go 7? What does that accomplish that wouldn't happen in 5? The 1 and 2 seeds are mostly doing jobber squashes anyway, does that garbage need to be longer than necessary?

Weekend Boxoffice Report, April 22-24

At this point you could just wait for Sin City to go to the cheap 2nd run theaters. I think it is apparent that these vicious Tarantino/Rodriguez films have a glass ceiling around 70 million. Rodriguez has had 100 million films but those were Spy Kids movies. -
Am I the only one a little surprised that David Greene went as low as he did? I think the guy broke Manning's record of career wins in the SEC at Georgia. He's a pretty big dude too. I think he could be a dark horse if he gets a chance in the pros.

One of my big guilty pleasures is the entire Beach series of the 60s, the stuff with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. I saw them all when I was about 10 or 11 and enjoy them even now. Eric Von Zipper is the man.

Does the public know it's no longer WWF?
cabbageboy replied to CBright7831's topic in The WWE Folder
Yeah but WWE is something that has no rhythm to it, it doesn't sound right coming out of your mouth. When I first heard it I actively winced at how horrible it was. If I was Vince I'd have blown up the wildlife HQ rather than changed my company's name. Or just thrown a couple million at them, or kept them tied up in court forever. ANYTHING but what they actually did. -
Ok so Orton beat Batista in a few nothing matches....what do you remember more though? The nothing matches or Batista squashing him like a bug after WM? At this particular moment there's no way anyone would buy Orton beating him.
-
Orton has had irrepairable damage done to his heat over the past couple of months, and really back to Sept. if you think about it. We already know he can't beat HHH, can't beat Batista, can't beat UT...and fans probably wouldn't accept it if he DID. Basically, he's fucked.

Does the public know it's no longer WWF?
cabbageboy replied to CBright7831's topic in The WWE Folder
Well the thing is WWE just has this inherent gay sound to it...I can't hardly bring myself to say WWE either. My brother flat out refuses, he just calls it the WWF to this day. Much like when the Oakland Raiders were the LA Raiders, people still just called them Oakland and they eventually moved back. Same deal here, through force of will everyone just call WWE the WWF and they'll eventually pay off the panda fuckers and go back to what they should be. -
Crap, got stuck...double post.

Let's see, I won't do actual # of games but here's the winners: Miami over Nets Bulls over Wizards (this might go 7, tossup really) Pacers over Celtics (be honest, who doesn't want the IND/DET rematch?) Pistons over Sixers Suns over Memphis Dallas over Houston Kings over Sonics Spurs over Nuggets (but in a VERY tight series) As far as this whole Jordan argument goes, it's pointless to argue that Jordan couldn't win in an era of Magic and Bird. Duh. The Bulls didn't really have much else in that particular era. The only deduction I can see for Magic is that he never won it all as the undisputed main star (I always thought Kareem first, Magic 2nd when it came to the Lakers). In the one head to head finals in 1991 the Bulls trashed the Lakers, albeit with Kareem retired by then. Magic wasn't really over the hill, but had to retire due to the HIV issue. It's impossible to compare Jordan to a center like Russell or Kareem really, they just played different positions.

Jericho has been wallowing in mediocrity so long that it's really impossible to care about him. He's such a total jobber storywise that he has no heat left. His main point these days is the Highlight Reel, and Carlito is doing that better than him at this point so moving him to SMDN won't help if he's going to keep doing it. Here's the main difference between RVD and Jericho: RVD is more credible to the casual fan. He is simply perceived as cooler. Both have been jobbed to various degrees but Van Dam retained his "I don't give a shit, job me out if you want muthafucka" attitude whereas Jericho visibly seemed to let it get to him. I also think the debut push a wrestler gets dictates how fans constantly view him. Jericho debuted by struggling with bums like X Pac and Road Dogg, and then jobbed out to Chyna CLEANLY. In a way I don't think his career has ever totally recovered from that early WWF period in 99. RVD on the other hand debuted by having killer hardcore matches with Jeff Hardy, beat Austin, destroyed Kurt Angle and busted him open a few times, beat the Rock multiple times, beat UT once (and jobbed to him in a wild hardcore match). I'm not sure of the lifetime record but it seems like RVD also owns Jericho in their series. Anytime they want they could push RVD again and a lot of fans would buy into it, especially given the renewed interest in ECW. But Jericho? He's become a shell of himself and I don't really think anyone would even buy him as a main eventer at this point.

I gotta mention it: George of the Jungle. Right now there is a Wheeler and Woolsey festival on TCM, now THERE'S some stuff I am totally into that no one I know really gets. It's one of my life goals to make people get into some W & W, but very few seem to like them.

Angle and JBL last night had a very intriguing night. I too enjoyed their commentary. See, I think JBL (despite being a crap in ring wrestler) gets one thing about being a heel that HHH doesn't: You have to put over your opponent. See, HHH does his best to trash his opponent, to make the viewer think the guy sucks. Thing is, if he beats down a guy that's a bum, who cares? JBL makes his opponent out to be a world beater (while still running him down), so when he wins it makes him look good.

This had to be the best SMDN in some time. I'm starting to get a feel of where this stuff is going. Right now a lot of guys have a direction: Cena is establishing himself as champ (unlike poor Batista), JBL, Big Show, Angle, and Booker are in the title chase. Eddie and Rey have their thing going, which is actually the most interesting angle in the company right now. They're also debuting and pushing new talent like MNM, who have a great gimmick and looked pretty decent tonight in the ring. I'm also a little shocked to see Carlito improving so much. I figured a couple months ago this guy was dead in the water, but he's gotten much more comfortable with his gimmick and is finding ways to work "cool" in without it being campy. I still insist that he get a finisher called the Carlito's Way when he returns to active competition. Hell, Carlito's Cabana is much fresher than Jericho's tired and stale Highlight Reel on Raw.

Disturbing "reality" movies about teenagers
cabbageboy replied to Nighthawk's topic in Television & Film
Reeves was the complete anti Ted in River's Edge. Sure both are seemingly slacker stoner types but in River's Edge he was doing a dead serious performance. Hell, he'd be likely to beat the shit out of someone like Ted. -
Oh God, HHH winning it back at Backlash only to have Batista challenge him via the rematch clause is so goofy I can't imagine it. The thing is they still can't really have Batista drop the title since Edge will get a shot somewhere along the line and Edge/HHH makes zero sense.

Well the last 10 mins also coincide with the Yankees jobbing. I do admit that Drew's actions near the end were really farfetched, it was like the Fenway version of Anger Management on the believability scale. I did like the movie though.

My friend Chris actually knows Jillian fairly well, in fact he tried on a few occasions to get her in the sack to no avail (at least if he has he didn't mention it, haha). I saw her at two OVW tapings myself and the first time she wasn't in terribly good shape with a flabby midsection, I didn't really see why he was interested. That would be the horrid match with Linda Miles I think. The 2nd time she looked quite a bit better, but still jobbed.

How about some cheap Offspring videos from when they were still on Epitaph? The Come Out and Play video in the weird yellow tinted room was always a fun one, it looked retro 1982 in 1994, haha.

I know someone said earlier how sick they are of the Nets and I concur. I really hope the Cavs win tonight and the Nets somehow lose. I know the Nets have Kidd and Carter but that whole franchise has this anti heat about it that kills all interest and ratings in the playoffs. I'm amused that the Nuggets won last night considering Portland was up 15 most of that game it seemed.
