I remember learning about this in class. Libel lawsuits are won when you prove that someone says something that is 1. False and 2. Damaging to your reputation or career. The prof. used an example of a news article saying Carol Burnett was crazy, and she sued them. She proved that she was not insane and that it damaged her career, and won a token amount. Anyway, I kinda doubt Edge or Lita care enough about what his pissed off wife says to sue.

Idea: Just sorta half ass watch the show, it works for me. I am looking at the comp, listening to music, whatever. I just note the scores and don't really listen to the announcers.

My main knock on Christian has been that he's bland and boring in singles matches, but considering the bums SMDN has pushed in the past year (cough Bradshaw cough) might as well trade the guy to SMDN and give him a push. Cena won't be doing shit after the JBL feud anyway, unless Eddie turns heel or Angle is healthy enough. The serious worry that WWE might have is that Christian might school Cena on the mic and come across a lot funnier and more entertaining. I still think Cena is not legit over, but over mainly because he's the "cool" guy getting a push.

What was the point of the last segment...
cabbageboy replied to Vern Gagne's topic in The WWE Folder
I truly don't get the point of that segment. I said going in "If HHH somehow jobs to JR via Batista run in I'm going to have alarms going off in my head." Well, he did. Do you seriously think he'd job to an announcer without getting SOMETHING in return? Like, oh, the title. -
This was the most surreal thing I've seen on Raw in a long time. The whole crowd just killing Lita and chanting for Matt, Trish trying in vain to keep herself a heel, and it all leading to VISCERA putting the moves on Trish? Salvador Dali couldn't have come up with anything more bizarre.

Let's see, the Suns have won 61 games this year...Memphis has won about 46 or so. I don't care who Memphis has or whatever, if they win more than 1 game in that series I'd be stunned. Ripper, what no Majerle? You mentioned all those other guys, but not Thunder Dan. Majerle IS the Suns, yo.
-
Oh God, I am dreading a possible Detroit/San Antonio finals. That would be unwatchable shit, total ratings death for ABC. If you like your games 79-77, that's the series for you. I also noticed the Suns have struggled against the Grizzlies this year. That said it was insane that Scotty Pippen was on ESPN yesterday saying that Memphis is better and should WIN that series. Hell I think they'll get swept, maybe win 1.

Rey with the WWE title is a bad idea. The guy is just too small to be belieavable at that level. I'm not sure why they are jobbing Eddie out to him to this degree unless it is to turn Eddie heel, because a main event Rey push isn't a real viable idea. It'd be kinda interesting to see an RVD/Rey WWE title match though.

I think the big issue is mainly "Who are they pushing?" Booking Raw is an exercise in futility since it's going to be the HHH show no matter what. SMDN is probably in worse overall shape, but I think their problems are more based on who they are pushing and that sort of thing. The whole Bradshaw thing is a failed experiment and it's time to pull the plug on it, make the guy return some of these jobs. If they are serious about Cena, they need to put him in there with some guys who can actually wrestle to carry him. Eddie, Angle, maybe a returning RVD. Putting Cena in with the Bradshaws and Renee Duprees of the world does him no good since those guys suck and he can't improve. Another thing I'd change is the matches themselves. They need to let guys bust it out more. There are far too many matches with boring headlocks and resting, punching and kicking, etc. Some of these guys just can't do any better, but let the guys who can actually tear it up. Let Rey go out and do a wild spotfest...I am sick and tired of a Rey or Kidman match following the script of "So and so grounds him and takes away his aerial game." Let's SEE the fucking aerial game!

Let me ask you a question: Who would you want between an annoying, blathering TO or an annoying, blathering Fred Ex? At least Owens gets it done, Freddie is the definition of worthless.

Fight Club is about 2/3 of a really great movie but the last 1/3 becomes so goofy that I wish I could stop the movie whenever I see it, but somehow can't. I can't even make up my mind star wise what I'd give it, maybe ***-***1/2. As far as VH goes, I'd give it **. Certainly not the BOMB Maltin and people like that say it is, but not great either. It had a few nice moments, but that dude who was Dracula was really, really awful. In terms of Ebert, hell, I'd say giving XXX ***1/2 is much worse than giving Anaconda the same.

Well, if there's one thing they need to do on the next album it's come up with a more cohesive sound. On that 1st album I couldn't shake the feeling that it was basically Chris Cornell guesting on a Rage CD, rather than a new band all together. Oddly I had no such trouble with Velvet Revolver. It was the same sound as RATM, but with Cornell's vocals added. Compare that to Cornell playing with the Pearl Jam guys on Temple of the Dog and notice how cohesive that sounded (though musically PJ and Soundgarden are more similar than Soundgarden and Rage). I agree on TOTD being Cornell's best moment, mainly because he was trying uber hard due to it being a tribute album for his dead pal Andrew Wood. Compare stuff like "Say Hello to Heaven" to Audioslave stuff like "I am the Highway" and it's jarring to see how much he cared then and how much less he seems to care now.

Well, this whole Eddie thing has to go somewhere eventually and the only plausible place is him turning heel. It's somewhat problematic though considering they'd do it so he can face Cena for the title (at least I'm ASSUMING there's some grand scheme here) but I think deep down Eddie is more over than Cena. Also, Eddie's brief feud with Cena was one of the few times Cena was ever a compelling in ring performer. Storywise doesn't Eddie have a hell of a lot to turn heel over? The guy has been fucked over so bad the past year it's not even funny, from getting screwed out of the title against a total bum like Bradshaw, to being ripped off in every feud he's been in since, and now his tag partner is giving him shit. Thing is, I think the crowd might no sell it if Eddie turns heel. They certainly did when he tried to on Tajiri. Rey is much more over than Tajiri however.

They should have ditched the worthless Fred Ex there for T.O. or someone. Why is Freddie Mitchell still employed? Why have they not released this sap? By the way I just looked on ebay and ordered my own Ron Mexico shirt, haha.
-
That was great. The hilarious aspect is that there is a guy in Michigan who runs a garage that is actually named Ron Mexico and he's pissed at Vick for ruining his good name.

Exactly Lushus. The first Audioslave album had a lot of stuff that was released, but most of it seemed like a band's 3rd or 4th singles off an album just released to keep the band's name out there, rather than anything that urgently cried out "This is a single." Chris Cornell is always worthwhile, but compare Audioslave stuff to Temple of the Dog or early Soundgarden. The man is soooo cashing the paycheck.

Take a look at Weezer's debut. It only has 10 songs and really maybe 6 are any good. I'll give Sweater Song the benefit of the doubt and count that as a "good song" since it was a popular single, but after that you have Buddy Holly, a couple of nice songs at the beginning, and maybe Say It Ain't So. Most of the 2nd half of the album is mediocre. My thoughts on Weezer are summed as thus: They are a band that I can listen to along the lines of "That was a nice song" but not "Holy shit that was awesome!"

The decline of former Hardcore Champions
cabbageboy replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in The WWE Folder
Rob Van Dam was the best hardcore champion period. Sure Crash did goofy comedy skits with the 24/7 thing but the title was still widely viewed as a joke. When RVD had the hardcore championship he was the most entertaining wrestler in the promotion. -
Sadly enough there really isn't much for HHH to do on Raw storywise beyond the title scene. The only thing I can think of is maybe have Flair finally turn face like the original post suggests, but I'm not sure what can be done with that after a certain point. If there is someone that is all set to get buried by HHH it would be Edge. The guy is the biggest dick on the roster right now with a mix of storyline and real life heel heat.
-
Weezer's debut album is a nice little album and maybe worth a listen now and then, but it's hardly on the level with some of 1994's other releases. Green Day's "Dookie," Offspring's Smash," Soundgarden's "Superunknown," Nine Inch Nails' "The Downward Spiral." No way is Weezer's album on that level.
-
Madsen had to deliver some really cliched lines though, stuff like "You can't do this, Hartigan...you'll take me down with you, etc." He was probably better in the last half of the movie with his deadpan "You really made me hate myself" line than he was at the beginning. Either way, I didn't think Murphy or Madsen were really BAD in the film. Maybe not quite as good but not anything that was so horrid it stood out.

Actually I think Raw right now is in decent shape compared to SMDN. At least Raw has SOME kind of direction in the main events. In the near future there is at least another 3-4 months of stuff like "Batista proving himself a legit champ," "HHH trying to get his belt back," "Edge waiting to cash in his title shot." At least there is some stuff you can tell is being planned. But SMDN? Fuck if I know. After JBL is finally, at long last, jobbed out of the main event scene I have no idea what they will do next. I guess Cena can face Angle, but that's been done. He could face Eddie if Eddie would ever just turn heel on Rey already. Otherwise? Cruiser division isn't given much airtime. Tag division is nothing (the champs are feuding with EACH OTHER). US division is a farce. I think RVD could help out the SMDN roster a lot if they'd just PUSH HIM.
-
Weezer has always been a steady, decent band but I think some tend to overrate them. I mean sure their blue album debut was a decent album but hell there were about 2 dozen better CDs in 1994 when it came out.

I am actually getting A Dame to Kill For from Amazon fairly soon, so I'll see what is up in that story. It amuses me that you guys keep track of people leaving the theater. If the movie is any good I could care less. Most of the time it's just someone taking a piss.

It's not that people think Matt is the savior of wrestling or anything, but he's just been fucked in the ass on this deal. How would you feel if you were on sick leave/injured at your job, had your wife/girlfriend cheat on you with a co-worker, and then you got fired because you got pissed? Christ, this is like a Russo angle with DDP in latter day WCW.
