Bob, I looked at the post you commented on...I said heh one time. Eh? Anyway Kansas going down early is no shock really...I didn't pick a 3/14 upset but if someone forced me to I would pick Kansas. They never really put it together the entire year and there's always their history of tourney chokes.

I think if someone is going to end the streak it has to be someone the fans perceive as legit. I think Batista beating UT at WM would go over better, or how about someone like RVD who has at least taken Taker to the limit in the past (though RVD is injured). If someone ends the streak it can't just be some out of nowhere challenge like what Orton is doing. It should be someone who has been THIS close to beating UT in the past but hasn't done so.

Actually Bobby my dad had TX Tech vs. WVU in his bracket, heh. He rationalized putting them over Zaga as thus: "I figure Knight will figure out some way to eek out a win he really shouldn't get." In my bracket I had WVU but not TX Tech. I really suck though, I only got about half of the Sweet 16. I had Illinois, OSU, U of L, WVU, UNC, Duke, and Michigan St. So I SUCK.

Jump the shark is taken from a Happy Days episode where Fonzy went surfing with his leather jacket on....it's from that point that the show started to suck. So when something that was once great starts to suck people pinpoint an exact moment when it jumped the shark. Anyway I am very glad to hear Jannetty is most likely back. Good grief if Shawn tags with him I might start liking Shawn again for the first time since about 1992.

I actually have Michigan St. over Duke in my bracket, so we'll see what will happen. In regards to U of L/Ga Tech I think U of L was favored by 1 going in but who knows or cares at this point. The wild part is we're also favored by 1 over Washington...when has THAT ever happened? A 4 seed (albeit not really a 4) favored over the 1? Actually I don't really like that to be honest, heh. I took a look at Washington's results this year and it seemed eerily similar to Wake Forest....basically that's what they are, a West Coast Wake. All sorts of results where they were giving up 80-90 pts. a night (albeit not quite 100 like Wake, though Zaga got 99 on em). They avg. about 86 a game, U of L avgs. about 81. Thing is Wash gives up about 74 a night whereas U of L gives up 64 or so. I know Washington beat Zona twice this year but I still think Zona is the more dangerous tourney team. When you have a guy who can go for 40 like Stoudamire you're a dangerous team. That's why I'd maybe pick them to beat OSU by maybe 3 pts. I saw some of the Pacific game on Sat. and Pacific had the wrong idea totally. They seemed content with doing a run and gun style which is the wrong way to play Washington. You have to grind them in the half court, make them use some clock. U of L will likely bust out some 2-3 zone to this effect. I'm sure Pitino is studying tape of Stanford/Wash games this year. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is this: Pitino is frightening in Sweet 16 games. Since his first FF with Providence you simply do not want to face this man in the round of 16. At UK I don't even recall a remotely close game in the Sweet 16, maiming the likes of UMass, Wake, Arizona St., Utah, and St. Joes. Anyway I'm not going to talk shit about Washington, I'm just laying a few things out there. They're a good team.

Yeah motherfucker! Where's Iggy with his Ga Tech bullshit now? U of L put some bitchslapping on that ass tonight, and hopefully more to come next week with Washington and then hopefully Knight's boys. Now I have to pose the question: Why did people think Ga Tech was going to beat us? I think everyone (myself included) fell a little too much for Iggy's crap about GT, making me terrified of playing these guys when in reality they are merely a 20-12 team that got a couple of notable wins and not much else. Gee, I guess U of L has beaten someone decent now, huh?

If Luke knew who Anikan really was

Am I the only one not feeling this whole Palpatine thing? I mean I haven't really seen much in the first two movies from this guy that makes me think he's going to end up the ULTRA BAD ASS Emperor that tries to rule the universe. At most he seems like a smarmy politician who is lying his ass off to the senate while belonging to a cult on the side. As far as Lucas goes, people are just now finding out the man can't direct? Hell in my view the best two Star Wars movies are the ones he DIDN'T direct (namely Empire and Jedi). Notice how much better the acting got later in the first trilogy once someone else was directing and Lucas was producing and writing, etc. And note how bleh the acting has been in the new trilogy. Oh, I will say that Christopher Lee was cool in Ep. 2. What happens to Dooku in Ep. 3 anyway? I'm pretty sure he's going to get whacked but by whom? -
My bracket sucks ass now due to OU jobbing to Utah (which now sets up the Utah/UK matchup of doom for the 103,495 time). I should have remembered my comments on OU not being able to shoot for shit, because man was that ever true vs. Utah. In regards to Wake, big deal. This is one of the few upsets I had right in my bracket. My bro had them jobbing to Chattanooga (which was silly) but I knew given the way WVU was playing in the BE tourney they had a very real shot. I was kinda worried when Wake got up 13 at the half but Wake hasn't shown all year that they can defend people. I thought there would be a wild 111-105 type game yesterday but I figured it'd be Zona/UAB, heh. Oh and Dama, giving up on U of L beating Ga Tech? Actually I am worried shitless myself but if we can get by this one the bracket is like a big pussy waiting to be fucked.

I have no idea why everyone seemed to have Syracuse going so far...there was nothing about them this year that made me think they would go anywhere. I did have them at least jobbing to Michigan St. however, heh. My God U of L almost made me shit myself tonight, but then that was just 1 of about 15 games that were similar. When we inbounded the ball to Ellis in the last min. I was about to destroy the livingroom...the guy is awful at the line and I was PLEADING not to have him in. Now we have Ga Tech, and for several reasons we MUST 100% win this game. As far as Kansas goes, if you look back at various threads here you realize I have been trashing them all year. I think this once and for all shows what a total joke the RPI is, that these bums were #1 in it all year it seemed. It's goofy but I actually had KU in my Elite 8, even though I thought they sucked, heh. That was mainly due to having N. Iowa over Wisconsin and I had the temptation to put UNC/KU for obvious reasons. My brother actually had Bucknell winning here, which rocks while his goofy Chattanooga pick didn't quite pan out (though they led at the half). Tomorrow UK vs. Cincy...smell the ratings.

I can't believe that spoiler...I mean wow, just wow. In a PG or PG-13 rated movie? I do agree that Anakin has come off like a whiny punk in the first two here, but is this really Hayden Christiansen's fault? I've never seen him in anything else so I really have no clue about his ability overall (maybe the fact that I haven't seen him in anything says something, heh). Also, the script is so bent on showing this conflicted, angry side of Anakin that we never quite get why Obi Wan sees anything in him or why Amidala would marry him. -
Actually an ultra cheap Jannetty win over Angle with Shawn-ference isn't completely insane. I'd like to see them give that match a good 15m or so provided Marty can go.
-
Man, I don't recall half of this shit about Jannetty. Heh, guess I'm not up on my history of WWF hasbeens as much as I should be. The house arrest thing makes sense though because it led to the WWF not following up on a surefire angle with Jannetty coming back to take out Shawn for putting him through the barbershop window. Instead it took another year really for that feud to start up and by that time it lost a little bit of the heat it would have had. If they want to keep Jannetty around they outta do a piece on Raw or a PPV explaining who he is to newer fans. I imagine even most new fans know Shawn was in a tag team called the Rockers but may not know much about his partner. It's funny but I recall seeing Jannetty's WWF return in Oct. 92 (I assume from that house arrest). When I heard the music I marked out big time, my friend Chris turned and in unison we were like "IT'S MARTY JANNETTY!!!" Come to think of it I also marked out big when he beat Shawn for the IC title on Raw in 93. Dammit, Jannetty rules.
-
I don't recall Jericho ever really portraying a tough guy. In WCW he was a punk bitch heel that complained about everything, and ever since his WWF debut he's either been that same fag heel or a light in the loafers face that can't win the big one. I think Jake's main criticism was that Jericho's offense didn't look like it could finish anyone, stuff like the Lionsault being a mediocre finish. And I might agree.
-
I thought the best Flair/Steamboat match was the Clash 2/3 falls, although it had a slightly silly finish to the 3rd fall. Anyway, yeah the Rockers kinda got dicked by the WWF back in the day due to LOD coming in. Basically I think some of it had to do with an incident no one has mentioned. I do believe that Jannetty crippled some prelim jobber (Chuck Austin) with the Rocker Dropper and while I think it was found the guy didn't take the move properly stuff like that can't be good for Jannetty's career. Kind of like the D'Lo/Droz deal, you know? I guess when I saw the Midnight Rockers on Memphis in the late 80s they were on loan from the AWA or something?
-
I was thrilled to see Jannetty on Raw tonight. Anyone who recalls my posts on here realizes that I have disliked Michaels for years, basically ever since about 1992 when he put Jannetty through the barbershop window (though beating Bulldog for the IC was the bigger crime). But I really used to like the Rockers. I even recall the first time I ever saw them on old school Memphis wrestling when they were the Midnight Rockers, I thought they were just great. Like a younger, better Rock N Roll Express. It's funny but when I first hear Angle say he was bringing in Jannetty for his challenge it sorta saddened me, because I figured they were bringing him in as a joke just to have Angle crush him in 2 mins. Now I'm thinking this can be a very competitive match, probably the best match on SMDN this week. Sure Marty won't WIN it, but it'll be a good one I hope. And yes I second that "Rockers for Tag Champs" statement. The Rockers actually never won the belts, if you can believe it. Maybe the old AWA belts but not the WWF.

They absolutely have to make this into a storyline feud, hell it'd draw more money than anything they've done in the past 3 years. -
I can't see Evolution being defunct for good really, it's supposed to be HHH's 2nd rate Horsemen. Thus when people leave it's time for some other guys to join. Hell it's a surefire storyline: HHH scouting the talent looking for his next recruits, people turn him down, people want to join for a career boost, you have months of solid storylines off this. As far as who would join, I can't see Shelton. There's always been a vaguely implied racism in Evolution (see the Booker T feud, or HHH having an iron cross on his ass) that makes it kinda odd to have a black member. This is different from JBL's cabinet where he has a black lackey mainly so he can have a black lackey, haha. In other words JBL is more in common with typical southern rednecks who might be kinda racist but enjoy having power over black people, whereas HHH and his boys are flat out racists who want nothing to do with blacks at all. I dare say there might be money in a Jericho joins Evolution storyline, and of course his eventual turn on HHH. Who is left in OVW to bring up anyway? I live in Louisville but haven't been to the show in ages.

Everyone is on Ga Tech's nuts here, but I have them as a 5/12 upset pick for GW. GW has beaten Michigan St. and Maryland this year (keep in mind MD beat Ga Tech) so I think it can happen. Besides, it would help U of L out considerably. My FF picks: Illinois, U of L, UNC, and Oklahoma. Illinois is someone that would have to seriously screw up not to get there. My U of L pick is more of a heart than head pick, but if we can get past the 2nd round it's money from there (I have Pitt beating Washington and someone like WVU or Gonzaga will take Wake). UNC just really doesn't have anyone in their bracket that I thought posed a real serious threat. And Dama will no doubt like my OU pick, but really the bracket just shapes up well for them somehow. I figure if Michigan St. can get past Cuse they will pay Duke back for that close loss this year, and UK is done at this point and the curse of CUSA will continue to haunt them with Cincy. OU wins the region by default, haha. Incidentally Iggy, justify U of L getting a 4 seed. I wanna hear your bullshit on this. There is NOTHING that justifies us being so low. Top 5 in both polls now, #8 in the Sagarin I think, and 11 or 12 in the final RPI. We got fucked and everyone knows it.
-
Heh last night I was so pissed I accidentally posted under my bro's ID on here again, dammit. Anyway, Iggy we're gonna fuck your boys Ga Tech up (if they even beat GW) and if not then you have my permission to trash me all over this forum. We're going to prove ourselves in this tourney. And by the way we beat FL, who is a 4 seed and thus a solid team, so fuck you.

My God in heaven. I almost had a complete seizure when Garcia fouled Washington on that 3 at the buzzer. I though "Holy fuck we did that AGAIN!!!!!!!!!" I ask you, isn't it insane that a team can foul someone at the buzzer on a 3 twice in one year (first was UK of course). I guess Washington is no Sparks though, huh? As far as feeling sorry for Washington, ah well. Look, it was a fucking nightmare that the CUSA tourney was moved from Louisville to Memphis (which cost the conf. about 1 million dollars just to let their homies get an unfair advantage they didn't deserve), we had to play an insanely desperate team who wanted to get in the dance, etc. But good lord, was that a GOTY candidate or what? If Memphis could bring it like that every game they'd be a 2 or 3 seed easy. As it is, bye bye boys. See you in the NIT...not. Enjoy being a glorified midmajor in a crappy CUSA while U of L goes on to fame and fortune in the Big East.

Oh God did she actually date Stasiak? I thought she was just his manager or whatever for a little while. -
On one hand I kinda wanted Temple/St. Joes again but then again I detest Temple with a passion so anytime they job to someone it's good by me. Oh great, U of L has fucking MEMPHIS yet again today for the CUSA title. This makes me sick, it really does. It's our last game in CUSA before going to the BE, Memphis is playing at home and for a shot to get in the tourney....gee, you THINK we'll get screwed in that one? It'll make that IU/Wisconsin game seem legit by comparison.
-
Dear God, Garcia has got to stop getting in all this foul trouble in the 1st half. This is like the 6th time he's gotten 3 fouls in the first 10 mins. I do agree that U of L isn't really a 1 seed, but we do have some solid wins this year (Florida, Cincy twice, Charlotte, even teams like UAB and DePaul are possible tourney teams). The big difference is that this year we can actually win when we suck.
-
No actually it's saying that they'll likely trade new champ for new champ after WM in order to create some new matchups. Thing is, what the hell is the point of trading Batista to SMDN when they just did a big storyline about him wanting to be on RAW? Also the SMDN heel side is fucking hideous so I have no idea who he'd feud with after crushing JBL (there is no way they job Batista to JBL).
-
Here's the thing though....U of L is just bound to get screwed, whored, you name it if we have to play Memphis AT Memphis in that CUSA final. You think IU/Wisconsin was bad? This will be a LOT worse. Seriously, it'd be U of L's last game in CUSA playing the home team (one of the few that is staying)....I don't like it at all. I hope USF upsets Memphis tonight, but then we'd just squash USF for the CUSA title and that isn't going to impress anyone into giving us a 1 seed. To clarify my Michigan St. comment earlier, it's just that MSU isn't the most thrilling or exciting team. I'm bored with seeing them constantly in the mix.
