Ah crap, double post...didn't think it went through the first time.

    Best selling WWE dvds

What did the ECW DVD do in its first week? I think it did quite a bit more than the RVD one, but that would stand to reason since the Van Dam DVD basically appeals to a portion of that audience. This might sound goofy but I think RVD's demeanor of not giving a shit has kept him oddly over. As in "Job me out, bitch...I'll still be over" or something like that. Van Dam will always have a following since he doesn't bullshit and doesn't bow down to the bookers (whereas Jericho did in exchange for a title reign...look where he is now). I would like to see what the Eddie and Benoit DVDs did as well. I figure the Flair one did better but then that is a huge 20+ year retrospective. Hot selling DVD....crowd chants during the main event for no apparent reason....it's RIGHT THERE for you Vince!

    Constantine

Well I no doubt think this Keanu/Rachel Weisz teaming will do much better than their previous film: Chain Reaction. Haha. Then again how could it not? Constantine was a bad ass though, if they'd had someone more cynical and bitter than Keanu it would have seriously rocked.

Ok now they just need to do one more thing to be the ultimate guilty pleasure team of all time: Get Ricky Williams off the hippie commune.

    A New College Hoops Thread.....

Kansas has been known for their tourney tankjobs in the past, and this year has all the earmarks of a KU early round exit. I've said all season they are this year's version of UK from last year, but even UK last year didn't lose 3 in a row. Then again KU hasn't been swept by a jobber like Georgia, haha. OK St. is a nice Elite 8 team but losing to Nebraska last night is a very bad loss. But really, aside from Illinois does anyone not have a really bizarre loss? Ok maybe not BC either, just lost to ND.

CUSA isn't a bad conf. though really. I mean hell Marquette wasn't as big time as Houston used to be (although they DID win a nat. title in 1977) but they were revived in the late 90s and made a FF in 2003. Now NEXT year, CUSA will start to seriously suck since everyone worth a damn is leaving. U of L, Cincy, Marquette, DePaul all to the BE, and I also think Charlotte is even going to the A 10.

Houston is also a good pick, they were quite a top level program under Guy Lewis. It's easy to forget about them though since they have sucked for the past 20 years though. I can think of two times that I thought OU was the best team. 1988 which Dama just mentioned (although they lost by about 2 to Kansas, hardly got walloped) and 2002 as well (when they had beaten both Kansas and Maryland but managed to lose to the lone remaining FF team: Indiana). I also said Illinois because they were perhaps the best team in 89 but couldn't take care of Michigan a 3rd time. And you would think they would have won a title SOMEWHERE along the line, hell even Wisconsin did that in the Big 10.

If that Mizzou game was at Mizzou then that's not a horrible loss either...they did beat Gonzaga as well, and also played Illinois pretty tough. As my friend Chris said of Mizzou "They don't really have anybody but on a given night they can cause trouble." Dama, this Kansas team has all the earmarks of a typical Kansas tankjob. I think most of all they REALLY miss Christian Moody, moreso than when Simien was hurt. I don't know how exactly to explain this, but they were beating people by 5 pts. with or without Simien, heh. But take Moody out and they seem to be really struggling. But really, aside from the Iowa St. game KU hasn't had a terrible loss. Losing to Nova wasn't awful aside from getting killed by them the way they did. Losing by 1 in double OT to Tech wasn't a disgrace or anything, and losing at OU was sorta expected. Here's something to ponder: What is the best program to never win it all? I think it is either OU or Illinois, though the Illini might win it this year.

    JBL Reaches Modern Day Milestone

I remember when RVD first got to the WWF and was mega over the crowd used to bust out into "RVD" chants during random matches, like a Test match against whoever. Heh. Regardless of how badly SMDN has used RVD since he was traded there, he was always an entertaining contributor. Take him off SMDN for a while and the list of people I actually would tune in to see shrinks considerably. They really, really need to push him when he gets back from injury, provided he can do anything in the ring.

Top Five biggest disgraces in sports history

I don't exactly see the 72 Munich murders as a disgrace per se. A serious tragedy and terrorist act yes, but not sports disgrace. #1 has to be 1919 Black Sox. Biggest disgrace ever, they fixed the World Series for crying out loud. The rest I dunno exactly but the recent steroid stuff and the 94 strike would also make the list. I guess hockey too if anyone really cared, heh. I actually wouldn't include the MLB color barrier since that was just the way the country was back then, and it was eventually rectified. Anyone know how many black players pro football and basketball had back then?

OU has had maybe one really bizarre loss, which was to TX Tech at home. They should have won that one. The Iowa St. loss doesn't look that bad really. I have been telling everyone that Kansas is NOT that good this year, and they look to be right on track for my 1st/2nd round flame out prediction at this point. It might sound insane but I think they miss Christian Moody more than they did Simien. They worked around Simien's absence but without Moody they aren't so hot.

The WWE Raw Thread for 02-21-05

I think I'm the only one who might want JBL to job at WM more than HHH. Seriously they need to get the belt off this goof NOW. Cena is really the only guy left and he needs to take it. No more bullshit, no more lucky lame wins, this needs to be the time where Bradshaw's luck runs out. And yes, Batista should win it too. Do something shocking like send fans home happy.
  15. I read several places about the RVD chants during the main event. Haven't heard of anything like this since the "We want Flair" chants in early 90s WCW. I don't really get the whole deal with Batista....why hype him possibly going to SMDN so much? He'd have to be a sap to do it anyway. Why go to an inferior brand and get involved in a 3 way match when you can fight HHH in the main event? I figure tonight we'll find out that HHH was manipulating Batista.

    A New College Hoops Thread.....

Well, it depends. Unforunately for OSU they have to play AT Kansas, and I can't see Kansas losing something like 3 or 4 in a row (yes OU can take them tonight). I do agree OSU is likely better but the schedule will screw em. I'm in a sorta agreement with Wake. These guys are just scary bad on the defensive end. Tubby or Pitino would either one SHIT if their teams were giving up 100 to people multiple times a year. Goon Redick, mug him, but for God's sake don't let him go for 38. In the end, Wake and BC are teams at the opposite end of the spectrum. BC goes out and staggers past teams with scores in the 60s and plays great D. Wake goes out and has to outscore people, going into the 90s and even 100 sometimes. Might be an interesting tourney matchup though neither team is real high on my list to win it all. I never trust teams to go far that 1. Give up way too many points or 2. Can't score and/or blow teams out.

    A sickening feeling...

Of course it was HHH. Hell, it's blatant that he's scared to face Batista at WM (fear of losing, fear of splitting Evolution, etc.) so he tries to frame Bradshaw by showing clips, by hiring a limo driver, etc. I think we all know tonight Batista will find out these things right before making his decision and thus will stay on Raw.

Please explain how Duke is #4 after jobbing to Va Tech this week. I figured they'd beat Wake at home, but they lost to VIRGINIA TECH. I know Va Tech is better than normal, but Duke shouldn't be jobbing to old Metro jobbers. Anyone else find it hilarious that BC's fans stormed the court after beating Syracuse? I mean they are ranked HIGHER than Cuse. Just shows they're still a 2nd tier program, doing stuff like that. Reminds me of Memphis storming the court last year after beating U of L by 4...when both Dean and Garcia were hurt and didn't play.

    JBL Reaches Modern Day Milestone

I didn't see the PPV last night but what was up with this RVD chant I am hearing about? You're telling me the crowd literally just started chanting "RVD" during the main event for no particular reason? ARE YOU LISTENING, VINCE????? I personally never gave two shits about Nash during his entire WWF run in the 90s. He never had any personality beyond that of "big mean dude" to me. I was shocked he even GOT a title shot at Bret at KOTR, much less won by a DQ. That said, his 95 run was a fiasco mainly due to who he was wrestling. Did he wrestle Shawn in a lengthy post WM feud? No. Bret, continuing that semi feud? No. UT? Nah. Even a vengeful Backlund, disgusted at losing the title after 3 days? Nope. Diesel fucked around with Sid (which I saw in person, dreadful match), fucking Mabel at SS, Bam Bam Bigelow after he jobbed to Lawrence Taylor, a heel turned British Bulldog who had never mained before (I remember REALLY hating them turning Bulldog heel..hell most people liked him better than Diesel anyway). I don't think that the WWF ever had any legit confidence in Nash as champion. Aside from Shawn at WM (which didn't matter since Shawn turned face immediately afterwards) they never really put him over anyone credible. The disturbing aspect of this JBL thing is that they've actually jobbed people to him! Nearly everyone on SMDN aside from John Cena has jobbed to this clown, who still isn't over as a serious champion and never will be. I said it about 5 months ago, that it's a bad idea to job your roster out to a guy that has no shot at being taken seriously. It doesn't build that guy's heat, it just kills everyone else's.

Well U of L managed to beat down St. Louis today after causing me to nearly burst a blood vessel by trailing some of the 1st half (sorry but you do NOT trail at all to a total gimp like St. Louis). As far as UK goes, I'm not sure what to read into this game. UK has looked very strong at times this year, but then sometimes they look hideous. Which is the real UK?

    House Of Wax (Remake)

Bah, I screwed up again and listed under my bro's ID of spidyfan. Anyway, the Vincent Price version is pretty dull stuff I think, certainly isn't as interesting as the original. Mystery of the Wax Museum is fascinating for its use of two color Technicolor in 1933, it has Lionel Atwill as the madman, Fay Wray as the damsel in distress, and Glenda Farrell as a prototype of the chick reporter. One thing that irked me about House of Wax is that I thought Price sold out to get his new museum over. Originally he had the historic figures before the museum burned down, but then sold out his beliefs and started using the murderer type stuff to draw people. In the original Atwill didn't do this, he stayed with his original vision of Voltaire and Marie Antoinette, etc. He just had people killed and embalmed in wax, that's all, haha.

Oh god, that was so funny when Woody kept bringing up these obscure 1974 stories (Nixon, Louis Tiant, etc) and pissing everyone off until he ended up with -2. Loved it.

    A New College Hoops Thread.....

Yeah baby. U of L managed to somehow rally from 11 down with 5 mins left to beat Marquette. I knew that wouldn't be easy tonight after we squashed them bad here, especially with Diener back. We punked him out tonight though, just had 9. Get this quote from Diener: "I just missed it, missed it bad, and it was the story of the night. Give them credit, they played good defense. I missed layups, and the supposed best player on the floor, I should make layups." I ask you, how can you not hate this little prick? And yes, Duke jobbed tonight. That keeps the weirdest trend ever going on these 7 and 9:00 games on the same night: U of L beats Marquette, Duke lost to Maryland....then U of L beat Cincy, Duke lost to Wake. U of L gets waxed by Memphis, Duke holds off UNC. U of L beats Quette again, Duke jobs to Va Tech. Isn't that the weirdest thing? It's almost like fate is tying these two teams together and we're destined to meet in the tourney.

I don't get this in a lot of ways. If Rock really feels this way, why host the show? I know the profit motive is always there but does he need the $$ that bad?
