I agree, OSU will end up the best team in the Big 12. OU is a bit up and down (and can't shoot for shit some nights), Texas has too many guys hurt or thrown off the team, Kansas will inevitably choke as they usually do. Hell I think Texas Tech might be a sleeper in that conf. Knight has his guys balling.

Oh come on, UConn isn't that hot this year. Both OK St. and U of L could most certainly beat UConn either home, away, or neutral site. Until UConn beat Cuse last night I thought they might be a bubble team to even make the tourney. Mind you, I'm not deriding BC or saying that they shouldn't be in the top 10 (anyone from a remotely competent league that's unbeaten should be top 5 or 10). They kinda remind me of Auburn circa 1999, who was unbeaten for a long ass time but you knew come tourney time they wouldn't really do shit. I'm thinking the following pattern for BC: 1st round they'll trash a 16, 2nd round the 8/9 team will give them a fit but they'll win by like 5, then in the Sweet 16 a 4/5 takes them out.
-
Ah well, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Winning at OSU is very difficult. In terms of BC I was being NICE to them by saying they are this year's St. Joes. Hell at least they made the Elite 8. I'm more inclined to think style wise BC is like Stanford and destined to be ousted 2nd round by someone quicker than them. I mean hell BC beat Nova by 1, so it's not like it was a resounding win or anything. Too many jobbers not being beaten by enough. Hell BC barely beat a few scrubs, so stop acting like they could beat U of L with no trouble. I just looked at BC's schedule. They beat Holy Cross by 3, Yale by 2, Kent St. by 3, Boston U by 6. Honestly, a legit top 5 type team would trash those teams by 25 a game.
-
It is funny that my interest in the show ceased once Holley was shunted to essentially a cameo. It also was bad that Max kept trashing him constantly on how bad he was on a show. I can't say I'm that sad.
-
BC may well be this year's version of St. Joes. As in they beat a bunch of sorta ok teams that aren't amazing, but lack the really big wins. Earlier I wasn't thinking of Michigan St. even BEING a top 10 caliber team (which they aren't). I do think U of L on a good night would just whoop up on BC though.
-
Oh, pretty much anyone in the top 10 would smoke BC I think. The irony is that BC if they keep doing this might well get a 1 seed in the tourney. If so then it's either them or Kansas (maybe both) as the 1 seeds destined to lose the 2nd round, haha. Incidentally I'm getting worried. There are way too many TV analysts predicting U of L for the Final Four. I mean we just beat UAB by 4 people, let's not get carried away here just yet. When it comes to U of L, when people think we'll do something we suck, and when people think we suck we'll do something.

I rewatched that Living Dangerously match and aside from the ultra retarded ending (ref almost gave Lynn the title on a time limit draw...WTF???) that was one bad ass match. You gotta love Jerry bashing RVD with a chair as both were on the top rope, then BAM, Rob kicks him and Jerry falls through a table, haha. And yes, the Dreamer match was a blast. Had that insane sell of the piledriver (the single greatest sell of a move maybe EVER, hell I rewound and watched it 3 times I bet) and the overbooking was fun up to the very end when Stevie arrived and it got silly. Van Dam and Dreamer had lots of good ones back in the day.
-
If RVD isn't on this PPV, who exactly will give two shits about it? I'd just cancel the damn thing, hell it was HIS idea wasn't it?
-
Oh, Alro one more thing about FL. They won't crack the top 25...bear in mind that they got waxed by Miss St. this week. So FL goes on to trash Bama, and then Miss St. gets trashed by Auburn. I don't get the SEC, I really don't.
-
Alro, remember what I was saying about Bama being bullshit? Losing by 30 to friggin FLORIDA??? The SEC is just bad, bad, bad this year. Putrid. Horrible. When one of UK's weaker teams of the past 15 years might go undefeated in the conf., that's a bad conference. UK did handle Vandy easily yesterday though, not really as close as the score indicated. I think Florida is the litmus test of being a legit team. If you beat the Gators in Gainesville, you enter the discussion. If you lose by 30 to them, well, that's not good. It's funny because you just KNOW the Gators will come to Rupp on Tues. and fall flat on their asses. U of L escaped with a very tough 4 pt. win over UAB last night. Jesus, UAB is one tough ass team to beat. One of the quickest teams I have ever seen, no wonder UK had fits with them in the tourney. Heh, we had to beat them for several reasons: 1. Can't have UAB winning the conf. 2. Can't have UAB holding recent wins over BOTH UK and U of L. 3. We had to do what UK couldn't, haha. Now we get to put some bitchslap action all over Calipari's sorry bums on Wed.

When I think disturbing in a film, one thing comes to mind: Deliverance. Nuff said.

I agree with that to some degree. Once the tables and ladders got involved the Elims especially seemed to try to do really bizarre and contrived stunts instead of naturally occurring wrestling spots. Who the hell would really put a ladder on top of a table and then put the opponent in between, etc? The Sabu/RVD HH96 match on there is just sick, sick shit. I concur with that one monkeyflip onto the chair with the legs sticking out....that is just frightening and fucked up. That's one of the craziest matches I've ever seen, it's amazing both guys didn't get killed, haha. The Matter of Respect 96 match is also insane...gotta love the diamond cutter from the top rope with RVD's LEGS TANGLED IN THE TURNBUCKLES! God I thought he was broken backwards on that spot. Earlier when I said RVD wasn't shit before 98, I sorta misspoke. He had those good matches in 96, but those were really more about Sabu than him. It was 1998 when RVD got REAL good...I'd tune into ECW just to see him.

The Tarheels are basically invincible at home this year. I still would put Illinois ahead of them due to beating a variety of good opponents and having some good road wins. UNC has yet to really win a tough road game.
-
That Eliminators match was in some ways the most intriguing on the disc. It was blatant that you could tell the Elims just flat out couldn't keep up. My brother was watching and was like "Who is this jobber with Saturn? This guy sucks." Hell half the time the Elims never really hit their finisher right. There's a lot better Sabu/RVD tag stuff out there...why not sure their tag title win over Candido and Storm? They showed a clip of RVD getting his eyelid ripped nearly off vs. them, but not the actual match. Or how about the tag title win over the Duds in Japan? That was a good match.
-
Yeah but really how many times have 2 world titles even been at stake at WM? I mean it was mainly just two years, wasn't it? Jericho/HHH was for the unified title, and then the next year is when it broke down into HHH/Booker for the Raw title and Brock/Angle for the SMDN belt. Then of course last year was Eddie/Angle and HHH/Benoit/Shawn. If anything I think Bradshaw just HAS to lose the title at WM or it risks really pissing everyone off and boring the shit out of the fans. If Cena doesn't beat him there really isn't anyone else left.
-
Yeah I will admit I was kinda confused by the way this 1st disc would have his career retro, then bam all of a sudden we have RVD vs. Axl Rotten. I mean maybe a clip is fine but save the matches for the 2nd disc. Having them in their entirety on the main disc kills the momentum a bit.
-
Heh, it must be a bad night of action when the best game is for 1st in the OVC. That league is way down this year. Besides, since only the tourney winner gets in the NCAA tourney these sort of games are moot.
-
I assume this is just of rock music, hence no Rich, etc.? Am I the only one who thinks Grohl should be higher? I think he's better than say Matt Cameron of Soundgarden.
-
The SMDN title match was loads better aside from the goofy "2 guys wrestle while the other rests" element of a 3 way. The HHH/Orton match was death to me for a couple of reasons. 1. I hate matches where someone just works a leg. Mainly because while it's nice psychology it's boring as shit to watch unless someone like Ricky Morton is there to sell it, and as we know Orton couldn't sell it for shit. 2. The match was built around a concussion angle, which the live crowd couldn't possibly understand. To them Orton was just getting his ass beat down. 3. It was an extended squash and I don't wish to see 20 min. long squashes.

A & M isn't all that bad this year, so it wasn't shocking to see them play tough at OU. I'm moderately worried about Sat.'s game vs. UAB down in Birmingham. They don't have a huge home court advantage but they are something like 16-4 and are probably headed for the tourney again. That said, their run and gun style plays right into our hands (U of L WANTS uptempo games), whereas with UK last year it gave them all sorts of trouble.

Yeah changing the themes is horrid on these WWE DVDs of ECW stuff. It really kills the mood since ECW was very big on music like Walk and Enter Sandman, and when you hear that dubbed in crap it ruins the mood. I kinda liked that Scotty Flamingo match on that, fascinating for a historical curio. I was shocked Robbie V won that one, haha. Scotty actually had somewhat of a push back then. That Elims match was funny. I remember on RVD's old website he had these commentaries up badmouthing constantly jobbing to them. After seeing that match I know what he means...Sabu and RVD was such vastly better wrestlers than the Elims it wasn't even funny. Yeah they never beat them but ask anyone who saw those and it's pretty clear who the better wrestlers were. Incidentally I always hated the ending of the LD match vs. Lynn, which makes me not care about the match itself. Personally I think the best RVD/Lynn match is the ECW Arena one where Lynn had hurt ribs (clip of it was on the DVD). The heat there was just unreal, an amazing example of the crowd begging for Jerry to win it finally but NOT really turning on RVD.

I kinda like Brunner for Iowa, good power forward if not outright center. I wouldn't worry about Iowa now though, Pierre Pierce got thrown off the team. U of L beat Cincy tonight 77-70, real tough game. I swear this is the first time we've swept Cincy since the old school METRO day, haha. It's funny watching that Duke/Wake game afterwards....it's a much more aesthetically pleasing game but I swear the ACC doesn't play any defense. I watched time after time as both teams went baseline, went into the lane, and I couldn't help but think "Gee, I didn't see either U of L or Cincy do that shit successfully tonight."
-
Yeah that actually sounds about right. It is a bit ironic that UK in 1996 wasn't even ranked #1 most of the year (that was UMass, who beat UK in the 2nd game). Once they finally got to #1 again they lost to Miss St. in the SEC finals, heh. Both of those teams made the FF however. It's funny but you never hear anyone talk about that UMass team from 96. Camby, the Puerto Rican connection of Padilla and Travieso, Dingle, Bright....one hell of a team, they had wins over UK, G'Town with Iverson, Wake with Duncan, etc. Iowa is really the only team that has gotten close to Illinois this year, mainly because I think they have a nice mix of inside game and outside shooting. I will say this about Illinois, they certainly own Cincy. Killed them in the 2nd round last year, killed them this year. Makes them aces in my book.
-
Actually that first 3 hour IYH wasn't a really horrible show. Bret/Patriot was at least a solid match, and Michaels/UT was a good brawl before the NC. Armageddon 99 was a show that had huge storyline implications though as HHH beat Vince when Steph turned. Besides, that was the show where The Kat showed her tits. Hell that was a GOOD show, haha. The worst WWE PPV to me was the Unforgiven 2002 show. HHH/RVD for the title, Taker/Brock for title. It was just the most depressed I've ever felt as a WWF fan. That show basically killed Van Dam as any sort of main event player, and then to kick me in the nuts they had a no decision for the UT/Brock main event.

Okay hang on dude. I like this Illinois team a lot but there is no way in hell they are even within 10 points of the 1996 UK team. My god that team had Tony Delk, Walter McCarty, Antoine Walker, Ron Mercer, Derek Anderson, etc. That's like 5 guys who went pro. I dare say that was the best team of my lifetime, and yes that includes early 90s Duke (hell they needed a miracle to get past a much lesser UK team in 92) and UNLV (in 90 they lost 5 games). That said I do think Illinois is the best team I have seen this year, not sure why people are still on UNC's nuts. Isn't the RPI kind of a joke when Illinois isn't even #1 in it and yet BC is #2, despite the fact that the Illini have beat down Gonzaga, Cincy, Wake, Michigan St., Wisconsin, and escaped against Iowa?
