I'm torn on this one. On one hand I do see the point of making him pay some dues (which he never paid to begin with I might add). But on the other I can see how jobbing him to everyone under the sun is counterproductive to the idea of him drawing money. Why bring him back if you're gonna job him out? Seems kinda stupid really. Just don't hire him again, that'll teach him a lesson and you save your money. Heh.

I guess the Dolphins and the orange jerseys are like the anti U of L black jerseys. Whenever they wear em, it's a guarranteed win. I'm torn on the ramifications of this loss for the Pats though. On one hand I think it could be a sign of things to come, since it likely cost them home field and could come back to haunt them. But then it could just be a meaningless loss too if they bounce back and return to the SB.

I actually think this looks a lot better than the first movie. Even if Dafoe is cashing the paycheck I'll take an overacting, paycheck cashing Willem Dafoe over the Eurotrash dipshit who was the heel in the first one. Anyone want to argue that?

The lack of a real playoff is always what's made college football idiotic though. As in it doesn't really reward a team that is in a smaller conference, but might have a chance to make some noise. And also there are the teams who schedule tough, take a loss or two, but by year's end are awesome (think USC with Carson Palmer)..and they get screwed as well. If I recall correctly there was one poll already that wasn't in the BCS, or at least I know USC was still #1 in one poll after the bowls last year, and thus got a share of the title. Anyone wanna clarify?

Chloe Sevigny had to be insane to do that shit in a movie. Seriously, what non porn actress would agree to do that in a movie (besides homemade stuff)? It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase actresses use "Who do I have to blow to get a job around here?"

Never underestimate the mental angle in all of this. As in the Eagles have to be feeling they are cursed right now to some degree. "We lost 3 straight NFC title games. We finally got our big play WR! Now he's hurt for the rest of the year. WHY GOD WHY???" Even when the Eagles were racking up all sorts of wins I had a wait and see position on them. As in I'll believe it when I see them in the SB. One thing no one has taken into consideration is that the Eagles haven't been playing that well lately, with or without T.O. They were fortunate that Patrick Ramsey is a moron, and they needed a late drive against the Cowboys to win.

I think the reason I've never much liked Brady is that there's just something...flukish about the guy. As in he's not really THAT good, nor were the Pats one of the best teams ever last year. I mean honestly can you imagine that team beating the old school 49ers? These guys struggled to beat the friggin BROWNS for god's sake. Miami winning last night isn't one of the biggest upsets ever. It's a rivalry game, and Miami really isn't as bad as their record. Ricky Williams screwed them over but they could always play D. I think the Pats were what, a 7-8 pt. favorite?

The funny thing is that I too wondered why I hadn't seen Dorff in much since Blade. I'd have thought he'd have gotten a bit more work.

Dolphins win 29-28. I hope after tonight that all this Brady shit will die down a bit. He was horrid tonight with 4 INTs, including some really dumbshit decisions. I mean what WAS that INT where he was almost on the ground. I mean people the gameplan has been RIGHT THERE for the world to see. The Steelers showed everyone what to do: Blitz the motherfucker! Seriously, it seemed like Brady hadn't faced much of anyone with a fierce pass rush until that game. Or if he did and struggled the Pats still eeked out a narrow win. Put him on his ass a few times like tonight and he got rattled. Yeah he might burn you a few times, but it's worth it if you can get a muti INT game.

Yeah he was good in River's Edge. It showed the more pissed off metalhead version of Ted...heh. My mom is a fairly big Keanu fan mainly due to Speed, Point Break, and The Replacements. He really was hilariously bad in Point Break I thought...Speed had too much action to really gauge his performance. My friend Ian and I had this discussion before seeing Revolutions last year. We agreed that he is adequate when doing dork comedy or action that doesn't require dramatic chops, but in that movie he had to do this very serious death scene with Trinity and he was hysterically horrible. We both cracked up at a point where it was supposed to be sad.

They don't have any justification for punishing him at all I don't think. If RVD feared for his safety in Iraq or has some political reason not to go then they ought to respect his decision, especially if it was voluntary. If he just said "Screw this I just want some extended time off" then to me that's ok too.

I don't think Roethlisberger would be doing nearly as well with the Giants. It's sort of hard and pointless to compare these two really. I do think I'd still take Eli over Rivers though. I NEVER thought Rivers was worth shit in college though....the guy just did dinky little 5 yard screen passes and never showed much arm.

I saw Blade: Trinity today and it has its plusses and minuses. It was nice to see Ryan Reynolds, who was hilarious in it. As far as HHH goes, I have seen Ron Perlman as a lackey heel in Blade II...and you sir are no Ron Perlman. Leminy Snickets doing iffy business isn't shocking. The movie looks really bizarre and not very entertaining. Seeing Jim Carrey trying to kill his nieces and nephews isn't all that appealing to me.

The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King EE
cabbageboy replied to edotherocket's topic in Television & Film
I'm not sure. I mentioned the 1980 cartoon of ROTK and Denethor DID have a palantir in that. I figured that would be a logical addition to the EE personally, and am surprised they didn't add it. -
I do believe that the Rams have the Cardinals today, the Eagles next week, and I'm not sure who they finish with. I almost think it'll end up with someone we aren't thinking about making the playoffs, like the Bucs or someone.

I was about to blow a fuse today after watching U of L completely piss their whole year away by blowing a 16 pt. lead. It eerily reminded me of the Miami football game to be honest. Now I hope Pitino can get his guys to regroup the same way the football team did, namely by slaughtering every C-USA jobber in sight. Alro, yeah you can enjoy your bullshit tainted win (and let's face it, after gooning Palacios and relying on PATRICK FUCKING SPARKS to go all white boy on fire, it was a lame and tainted win), you need to realize one thing: Both of our teams suck dick. There's no way in hell either U of L or UK is touching a Sweet 16 this year. Hell, neither team touched it last year and both were BETTER last year. After seeing the way UK played the 1st half and the way U of L fucked around the 2nd half it was obvious neither team has it this year.
-
I think we need to get out of that mindset honestly. To me, I'd much rather beat Cincy, Marquette, and Memphis than UK. Those games are conference games that actually count towards something other than bragging rights. Sure the past 2 years we have beaten UK...and then jobbed out to all those guys. In regards to Alleyne, I don't think he'll be a major factor. U of L doesn't have any inside game as it is...they won't really even go after the big fella to challenge him.

Am I the only one thinking "Dude, it's just Matt Clement?" I mean the guy was like the 5th best starter the Cubs had (Wood, Prior, Maddux, and even Zambrano all better). While I don't like seeing the Cubs lose any pitching I'm hardly crying over it.

The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King EE
cabbageboy replied to edotherocket's topic in Television & Film
Just wondering but does the Mouth even die in the book? I didn't think he did. The Saruman thing I read a long while ago on theonering.net. It isn't a big shock. -
What are you basing this "Kentucky chokes in big games" crap on? That said, I do think some UK fans predicting Final Four and greatness for THIS team are delusional. Let's face it: Chuck Hayes is a nice supporting player or spare part. He is not a guy who can carry a team. Azabuike might be at times but I've never seen him consistent for more than 2 games. Sparks is a nice mid major player, but even when WKU played a credible opponent (see Illinois, first round game) he tends to shoot his team out of it. From what I've seen of the freshmen only Rondo and Morris seem to be much, and Morris hasn't been thrilling exactly. Rondo is quick and exciting but I haven't seen him shoot worth a damn thus far. Maybe they will come in here and beat U of L, but it's hard to imagine that bunch beating a veteran U of L team with Garcia, Dean, O'Bannon, Miles, etc. I'm thinking U of L by 8 or so. As far as Pitt goes, the jury is still out. I just think that no matter what talent they may have their style of play is just death in a 1 and done environment. You can't win national titles playing 58-54 games. Eventually someone will have similar defense and actually be able to hit a few shots.

The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King EE
cabbageboy replied to edotherocket's topic in Television & Film
Yeah well just picture how lame that is in your mind, and then imagine a frog like Smeagol dancing around like a dork and just tripping and falling into the volcano. Then imagine how Peter Jackson did it with the epic fight for the ring, Frodo and Gollum tumbling off the cliff, and Frodo barely hanging for dear life. Jackson > book in this regard, easily. -
It would be such a huge fiasco if they had to relocate after already announcing the DC move that they HAVE to get a deal done. I don't see where there's any other choice. It'd be a PR nightmare.

The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King EE
cabbageboy replied to edotherocket's topic in Television & Film
Yeah the old 1980 cartoon is actually closer to the book on this, aside from WK sounding like Mysterio from the Spidey cartoons. But lord does that cartoon ever suck ass...Gollum looks like a frog in it, he basically dances around and falls into the volcano ON HIS OWN, and there are some mind numbing music numbers involving the orcs (singing Where There's a Whip, There's a Way) and Sam having a musical fantasy about taking the ring and gaining power. I shit you not. Anyway, I am getting this for Christmas so I can't comment on the EE for now. -
What the hell consitiutes a "cameo"
cabbageboy replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Television & Film
I'd call Smith's appearance in Jersey Girl a cameo since he was playing himself and had just that 1 scene. Thing is, his role had a big narrative purpose and that goes against the pointlessness of most cameos. It's a tough call on this one. Heh.
