U of L put an absolute bitchslap on Cincy today 70-7. That was just scary. Hell, Lefors and Brohm just accounted for 15 passes in that game...mainly just ran it on them. Would you believe that I was kinda WORRIED about that game before Guidulgi broke his hand? Cincy had been playing great, won 4 in a row, bowl eligible. Drat, Georgia suvived vs. GA Tech. I was hoping they'd lose and possibly Miami lose so U of L could move up a bit in the BCS. Ah well, we get to fuck around in the Liberty Bowl one more time while some undeserving assholes from our future conference (Pitt, Cuse, whoever) get to soil a BCS game.

Man, fuck Tennessee. I was riveted for once by a UK FOOTBALL game and seriously thought UK was going to take it....then of course they remembered they were UK in the 4th quarter and played like scared bitches out there. I mean, they pick off Clausen and proceed to get penalties and fumble the ball around until it's 4th and 33! Auburn is going to beat the ever loving shit out of Tenn. next week. It won't be pretty at all.

Oh god. What does that Cuse upset mean exactly? I mean would they actually get the Big East title if they win that game by virtue of wins over BC and Pitt? U of L is soooo gonna have to save that shit conference.

Rob Van Dam: One Of A Kind DVD

I've seen some real fun RVD/Balls matches on ECW TV but that had no business being on a PPV. I recall a match RVD had with Kid Kash once he got back from injury in 2000 that was damn good. Anyone else recall it?

    This Monday's Battle Royal...

I think in this battle royale they really outta have SOMEONE other than HHH win it. You'll never hear the end of the whining over this if HHH goes over the whole roster in one night. Thus, I say let someone fairly credible win it, then just have HHH regain it when Bischoff gets back from vacation.

When did movies become more graphic?

Actually no, pre code stuff in the early 30s had a lot of stuff in it. The Scarlett Empress (1934) had weird torture montages in it that had nudity. Shocked me when I saw it. And Gable saying damn is a bigger deal in retrospect than it probably was at the time. Watch stuff like Blessed Event (1932) that had the phrase "I'll be damned" or stuff like Hells Angels (1930) which had fighter pilots cussing each other out during the dogfights. Dante's Inferno (1935) is another movie that had nudity during the Inferno sequence but I suppose they got away with that due to its "religious significance" or something. Violence has never been THAT big of a deal to censors. Stuff like All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) had all sorts of graphic machine gun violence, guys getting caught in barbed wire (nice image of a blown up guy's hands being left on the wire), etc. I'm amazed no one has stated the obvious: Films got more graphic when the MPPAA rating system was introduced around 1968. Thus you could now have nudity, swearing, violence, etc. and it would get an R rating. Temple of Doom was actually NOT rated PG-13, but instead PG. Its rating caused controversy and that's what initiated PG-13. It's actually kinda surprising to look at some early PG-13 movies and how graphic they could be. I think The Bride had full frontal nudity in it. Just One of the Guys had nudity and was PG-13.

    Who deserves the Heisman Trophy

I'm thinking that White and Peterson will split the vote and neither will actually win it. I actually voted for Leinart here, mainly due to being the QB on the #1 team. Smith is a nice choice but someone from a smallish conf. isn't going to win. In regards to White, do you have any idea how hard it is to win TWO Heismans? Some voters might be a bit gun shy on White as well due to OU tanking last year after the ballots were cast. You know what's sad? If Stephan Lefors hadn't been dicking around splitting time with Brian Brohm this year he might get some mild consideration.

How far exactly does the BCS go though? I mean does it rank the top 50 and all that, or just go to 25? If Syracuse does somehow get to the BCS it'll the biggest joke in the history of college football, and there have been some big jokes. Besides, I don't think the BCS exactly determines who wins a conference, does it? I mean if Syracuse, BC, and Pitt all finish 4-2 in conf. play and Cuse beat BC and Pitt, they kinda have to get the bid.

Oh god, just when U of L is scheduled to join the conference. Let's just hope BC wins that game. Syracuse getting in now would be worse than those crap teams with Donovan McNabb that kept winning a bad Big East and jobbing big time in BCS games. Hell didn't Cuse lose 44-0 to Purdue???

    NFL Week 12

For whatever reason I'm thinking the Texans will play the Colts tough there. As in hold him to about 2-3 TDs. Colts will still win it but closer than expected. He'll put an ass kicking on the Titans in Indy however, at least 4 TDs. Dare I say he'll be going for the record against...the Ravens? Oh, and that Cowboys/Bears game today was one of the worst games I've ever seen.

    Scarface Question

I think the 1983 remake has more of the incest vibe that the original movie does. In the 1932 movie Tony is certainly overprotective of his sister, but it's mainly because he doesn't want her involved in his lifestyle (dating criminals, etc). They are WAY more blatant about this in the Pacino movie, even going so far as to have her hit you over the head with it by saying "Come on Tony, you don't want anyone else to fuck me, so fuck me yourself!" and all that. The original movie does have some slight hints at the incest stuff, but even in the pre code 1932 era you could only go so far.

I got it at Best Buy as well but it was about 16.00 and I got the RVD toy as well. Great deal I think.

I guess you could consider Navy or someone to be a cupcake. I'm kinda interested in this ND/USC game, I think it could be closer than people think. Cal would be about a 7 pt. fave over Michigan. Sure, Cal has lost one game to the #1 team by 6, but recall that they barely escaped against Oregon.

But...it's a friggin feud with the NETWORK. Hardly worthy of such a bad ass moment. Oh, and Douglas regained the title from Bam Bam at N2R 97...Bigelow beat him a little while earlier I think. BBB did beat Taz at LD 98.

Rob Van Dam: One Of A Kind DVD

Hell, RVD's commentary on that ECW DVD was hilarious. On his match anyway...his was barely even talked to on the main disc. How come no one has mentioned the brilliance of having Robbie V vs. Scotty Flamingo on this DVD? I might buy it for that alone, haha. Some of these matches make no sense to be on an RVD disc. The Judgement Day Eddie match is one he LOST, so I doubt they'd put that one on here. It should mainly be matches that either have legit historical significance or good matches that he won. By the way, he DID have some good matches with Balls Mahoney...Anarchy Rulz however isn't really one of them. Also, put the RVD/Lynn match from TNN (Sept. 99) instead of the stupidly booked LD match. RVD's promos on ECW were funny as shit, I used to love em.

ESPNews: Ricky Williams to be Reinstated!

Oakland will sign him. He'd just fit in perfectly there, heh.
  17. The whole "No one in ECW post 96 could work" statement is completely misinformed. Hell, in 1999 ECW may well have had the BEST in ring product of the 3 feds. WCW was pathetic that year aside from Spring Stampede, and the WWF was 3 minute Russo matches. Mind you, I'm not saying that WCW didn't have credible wrestlers in 99, it's just that most were horribly misused and thus the overall product was crap. Ironically 1999 was probably the height of the WWF's popularity and their in ring product was never worse.

WWE DVDs for release next year

The thing I am puzzled about is this: Who cares enough about this logo crap to do something about it? I doubt many at the World Wildlife Fund buy WWE DVDs, so hardly anyone would even notice the logo thing. And if the simple explanation of "This match was done before we changed our name to WWE" doesn't satisfy them, then fuck em. Surely a little disclaimer like "Matches pre 2002 were from the WWF, matches post 2002 are WWE" would satisfy.

You GOTTA have the Jeff match from Invasion. Heh. Hell I wanna get this DVD so I can see him vs. Scotty Flamingo from WCW Worldwide in 1993. I have a very faint recollection of RVD when he was Robbie V. That match will be like seeing those 1993 Dreamer vs. Taz matches on the ECW DVD, back when Dreamer had the suspenders and oh so gay blue tights, and Taz looked like a caveman. I haven't seen the Hostile City Sabu match either, but that Hardcore Heaven Sabu match is off the hook. I believe that's the one with the broken ring, one of the most deranged matches I've ever seen.

    Return of the King EE.

I tend to watch the EE version of FOTR, but the theatrical of The Two Towers. Extended Fellowship is really the only way the film works in my view, whereas the theatrical TTT is for the most part fine. The Boromir/Faramir/Denethor scene is the only truly notable addition in the EE.

    history of ECW DVD

I've always found that Lynn/Corino match odd. Writing DIE in blood on your chest is cool as shit, but I wondered why Jerry did this. Not like there was an especially heated feud there, I don't recall much of a story at all really. Think about if Lynn had busted RVD open and wrote DIE on his chest....now that would have been one of the coolest moments EVER.
  22. I personally think ECW reforming would be a great idea. To be honest Vince was always giving Heyman money under the table and they did talent exchanges and all that. Vince gave them time on Raw to plug their PPV too. Vince doesn't think of ECW as an equal, or a threat...with WCW he did. That's why he buried WCW and pays lip service to ECW. There's all sorts of talent out there. Heyman has ALWAYS had an eye for talent and how to get people over. And he wouldn't have to worry about the mass defections with Vince totally funding him.

They always show Georgia/GA Tech on national TV as though anyone actually CARES about that game. I swear it seems like one or the other is good, but not both at once to make the game compelling. One game not mentioned that might be a sleeper is Louisville vs. Cincy. Cincy has squashed 4 jobbers in a row. I'm not hugely concerned about this game, but it could get interesting.

    BCS Week 6 Standings

Believe me, Boise St. isn't going to make a BCS game. The system might allow for one mid major jobber to sneak in, but not two. That said, if Cal somehow loses to So. Miss do they still deserve it? Normally I'd call that an ambush game but So. Miss really isn't so hot this year. Utah...Boise....can U of L please get SOME overhyped undefeated team in Liberty Bowl?

    Favorite Gangster Film

I put Godfather II down because I consider that the best actual movie on the list. That said, the past 30 years (the so called modern period) isn't even the main period for gangster movies...that would be the early 30s through White Heat in 1949.
