Dama, I don't think you understood me on Jason White. He's had a hell of a good record at OU, but on Sat. he was fumbling, fucking up, etc. Vince Young was just that much worse. Question: Why didn't White go pro? The guy is something like a 6 year senior and won the Heisman. Also, nobody is disputing that OU is a top 5 team. Hell, who else is there? Sure, Miami is unbeaten as well but as mentioned above does anyone see Brock Berlin in a title game? Bleh. Here's hoping my boys take them out on Thursday.

    Cardinals/Dodgers NLDS Thread

The whole thing about the Astros having a winning record vs. the Cards is meaningless. Hell most of those were late in the year when the Cardinals seemed to be intentionally tanking it to screw the Cubs. Anyway, last I checked the Astros had their big home streak ended today and face a game 5 in Atlanta tomorrow. I don't really think the Astros could beat St. Louis in a playoff series, but I KNOW the Braves would get their asses kicked. Atlanta hasn't got the pitching they once did and their hitting is nowhere near good enough to compete with Pujols and Co. I've also disliked the Astros for a long time. I think it's because they have dominated the Central on and off for a while now, but you flat out know they won't do shit so they're a big waste of time. Also, they're in a division where the Cubs and Cardinals draw most of the fan interest, since Houston (much like Atlanta) is a mediocre sports market. Besides, them beating the Cardinals--a team that finished 13 GAMES ahead of them this year--is such a revolting idea that they should abolish the wildcard if it happens.

    The WWE's Plans for Carlito

I fail to see how Chavo is a reach for the US title right now, considering they just put it on a green rookie that couldn't hold his jock.

Man, here in Louisville we got the Wisconsin/Ohio St. game instead of Cal/USC. Yeah I know OSU is much closer to KY but no one here gives two shits about them, if anything they are actively disliked. I did see some that Texas/OU game and that was flat out horrible. Yeah I know the defense was good but both teams just looked inept out there. OU won due to Jason White not being quite as bad as Vince Young. Around here we're stoked for the Thursday game (U of L vs. Miami). I'm not going to predict upset but I do think we can make a game of it.

The ALCS: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox

Okay, I'm now modifying my predictions since the Twins didn't get it done. Correct me if I'm wrong but there's no curse saying the Sox can't ever beat the Yankees, right? Just that they can't win the Series. Thus, I think they'll actually win the ALCS in about 6...and of course still go on to job in an epic 7 game series against the Cardinals.

    Cardinals/Dodgers NLDS Thread

Okay, so now they win the series in 4 instead of the sweep. If it ends up going 5 that's when the Cardinals might should start worrying a tad. In that case I can't see them losing Game 5 at home anyway.

The OaO Presidential Debate II Thread

Well, Bush was perhaps a bit better tonight in terms of his demeanor and not stumbling over words and looking like a fool. That said, his content was just hilariously horrible tonight. He just didn't have a fucking clue. Some fun moments: --Kerry was saying something about Bush and Cheney having token small businesses and said Bush had a timberyard. Bush was like "I have a timberyard??? This guy is good!" --Bush went off on a really bizarre tangent about Dred Scott of all things. What in the fuck does that have to do with anything? I remember hearing about it in HS, but am hazy now. Wasn't Scott a slave who escaped from his master in Missouri and crossed into Illinois, only to lose a court case and have to return? Why bring up something like that? I mean, yeah, I'm glad Bush wouldn't approve of a judge that favored slavery, but I can't see how that is relevant. I was speechless tonight, I really was. It doesn't get much better for Bush at this point...hell this was the debate I thought he might have a shot in. The next debate on the economy will be REAL ugly.

    Angels/Red Sox ALDS Thread

If the Angels end up winning this game it could be one of those things that send the Sox into a major spiral. The thing that baffled me was that they just let Timlin go right at Vlad like that. Needed to be more careful...the only thing that kills you is exactly what happened.

    Cardinals/Dodgers NLDS Thread

Watching Weaver out there last night hit batters and generally fuck up gave me a revelatory moment: Weaver is Kyle Farnsworth if he was a starter. Let's just say if I had to start a guy in an elimination game I don't think Jose Lima would come to mind, though he is 13-5 this year.
  10. I just saw F 9/11 the other night and it is certainly better than BFC. Columbine lacked a real clear focus to it that 9/11 had, I wasn't sure what Moore was trying to say overall about violence in the US. In 9/11 though his focus was clear and while some aspects were manipulative as hell (the mother reading the Bush bashing letter from her dead soldier son) at least there were enough legit aspects to go on (ignoring Bin Laden to go after Saddam, using bogus "evidence" to justify going to Iraq, etc.). If 9/11 had a flaw it would be in the 1st half with all the dizzying array of companies and Saudi influence on them. Moore implied a mass conspiracy in the Saudi nationals (including Bin Laden's family) being allowed to fly out of the country, but really in the chaotic wake of Sept. 11 I can see why they just wanted to get those people out of the country to prevent a VERY ugly incident.

    John Cena

As I said, CCC needs a finisher called the Carlito's Way. It would further the goofy Razor Ramon similarity. What that move would actually BE I dunno.

    Cardinals/Dodgers NLDS Thread

Kinda hard for Gagne to save the Dodgers when they are getting down 8-3 in the 9th inning. Kinda like how the Sox aren't letting the Angels get to their bullpen.

    Cardinals/Dodgers NLDS Thread

This series is basically futile for the Dodgers. Their pitching isn't notable better and the hitting isn't nearly as good. Unless St. Louis makes a bunch of huge mistakes they should take this series fairly easy.

    Braves/Astros NLDS Thread

The Braves basically saved their season today. Now they need to go to Houston and end their epic home win streak.

An OAO SmackDown Thread for 10/7/04

Carlito really comes off like a 2nd rate indie jobber version of Razor Ramon. The kind of guy that Heyman would have brought into ECW and put in a stable with Justin Credible. I can imagine it now... "That's not the just the best, that's Justin Credible!" "No, mang...that was cool." That said, if he doesn't debut a finisher called the Carlito's Way pronto there is something wrong with America.
  16. (possible spoilers) Gigli isn't really as bad as the rep would indicate. I actually liked the Pacino scene (in another movie people would have loved it). The retard kid had his moments, such as singing Baby Got Back in the morgue. The main problem is that the movie is simply WAY too talky and nothing really happens. It has no sense of suspense or urgency, and that's lethal in a kidnapping type movie. The kid just goes with Gigli willingly and they kinda chill and Affleck and J'Lo have long winded talks about penises and vaginas. I will admit the ending is one of the most hilariously awful things ever though...when the dramatic chorus music kicks in as retard finds his "Baywatch" it's like you're witnessing some kind of once in a lifetime badness.

    Angels/Red Sox ALDS Thread

I still stand by my prediction of the Twins over the Yankees in that series....Red Sox will likely sweep this one now. Remember, there are two things the Red Sox cannot positively ever do: 1. Win the World Series. 2. Beat the Yankees in the playoffs. Thus, the Sox will take out the Twins in the ALCS and play someone like the Cardinals in the World Series...where they'll lose in 7 epic games. Therefore they will have done as much as humanly possible without fulfilling either of their main goals in life.

Supporting Kerry = weakening the War on Terror

The silly part of all this is that if Kerry gets in it'll probably have a chill effect on terrorism in general. Bush is HATED overseas, especially in the Middle East (hell his dad sent troops there, now he has). Kerry being elected would be a sort of bizarre, unintended peace offering saying "Hey, we got rid of the guy you hate...now leave us the fuck alone." If Kerry gets in and we are attacked again, I'll gladly eat crow on this, but personally I think if he gets in the War on Terror will chill over time.

Why is Gene Snitsky so over?

Well, at least they aren't trying to be SERIOUS with Snitsky's promos. If they are meant to be hysterically bad, then it rules. How the hell can HHH even inject himself into an angle with Snitsky? I mean the guy is a jobber anyway, so no one will care if HHH beats him. He's also a heel so what reason would there be for them to fight?

    Yankees/Twins ALDS Thread

Oh I'll admit the Twins were lucky last night, getting all those double play balls with Santana not really having total command. But if there's indeed a next time, what if Santana does have his A game?
  21. cabbageboy

Why is Gene Snitsky so over?

But..but...Snitsky is a HOSS and Eddie and Cena are not. Eddie I will agree that they've screwed him over, but Cena really isn't a real talented wrestler to begin with. Cena was over mainly due to his rap gimmick, which doesn't play well as well as a face. There's an Ed Wood quality about Snitsky that makes him fascinating. See, compare Bela Lugosi's stuff he did for Ed Wood to the bleh Monogram movies he did in the 40s. Tyson Tomko and a bunch of these OVW hoss guys are the equivalent of Monogram: bland, uninteresting, somewhat bad but not bad enough to be entertaining. Snitsky is like Bride of the Monster or Plan 9 From Outer Space...he's so hilariously untalented and campy on the mic that he becomes perversely entertaining.

    Full Smackdown spoilers

I mainly think that they simply just don't want to job anyone of use out to Bradshaw. Note that aside from Eddie (which was unavoidable) there hasn't been anyone of note jobbed out to Bradshaw. Yeah I know he beat UT as well but that was a silly gimmick match where UT wasn't even pinned. If someone told you 8 years ago that someday there would be a Bradshaw/Bob Holly feud for the world title, what would you have said?

    Yankees/Twins ALDS Thread

The Twins got lucky as fuck tonight, constantly getting double play balls whenever the Yankees threatened to do anything. I'll give them this though...those guys can field the baseball. Is turning 2 when you need it a measurable skill? The problem now for the Twins is going to be finding a way to win 1 more game to get it back to Santana. The scary thing is that Santana really didn't have his A game tonight and he shut the Yankees out over 7. I was one of the few (if not the only one on here) to predict the Twins to pull the upset in this series. It hasn't remotely happened yet, but it's already an interesting series.

    The Gene Snitsky love

Dude, voting for a 3rd party as a statement is just sooooo 2000! Heh. Here's the thing about the Snitsky love: I don't think it's meant as irony. I think a lot of people on here really like this insane angle. Hell, the Kane/Snitsky feud is the main reason I'm tuning in to Raw lately (how sad is that?). I think the reason is that it's one of those totally out of nowhere, unpredictable angles. I have no fucking idea where this is going. So while there might be a few Snitsky poseurs on this board, the rest are Snitsky marks~!

Gallup Poll: Bush's 8 point lead is gone

Right now I'm not terribly worried about the electoral college. I mean if Kerry ends up winning the popular vote by 2-3% or so I can't imagine him not winning the electoral. It'd take a screwjob bigger than 2000 for that to happen. I find it amusing some of the polls produced to show Bush ahead in PA. This isn't to say Bush doesn't have 47% or so, since I think he does...it's just he's not going to get much more than that. Bush has leads like 47-44 in a lot of states, but here's the thing: That's roughly what he's going to get. And the last I checked getting 47% in a state won't win the state (unless there's a strong 3rd party candidate). For Bush to win PA he'd have to suddenly gain 3%...may I ask from where? Is it now confirmed that Gallup used a more feasible sample this time? Anyone know for sure? Anyone care? One other thing, what precisely is the difference between a registered voter and a likely voter? I keep hearing that not all registered voters are likely voters, but honestly, if you were registered and actually took the time to talk to a pollster about the election, that kinda makes you a likely voter. About the debate, actual content doesn't really matter in these things. What people remember are things like style, smoothness, does the guy fumble over his words, etc. Sure, Kerry talking about nuclear shit baffled the hell out of most people, but at least he seemed like he knew what he was talking about...as opposed to Bush who didn't know Saddam from Bin Laden. The "field questions from crowd" debate is mainly a placeholder, the only thing there will be for Kerry to try and come off as more amiable to the audience. The economy/domestic issues debate is the biggie though. I have no idea how Bush can win this debate. Once Kerry starts in with stuff like record deficits, net loss of 1 million jobs since 2000, etc. then Bush is going to freak.
