    worst horror movie ever?

Oh, with a title like that how could this possibly be taken seriously? I laughed my ass off when I first heard the title. I bet it actually draws decent money. It'll draw more than The Marine anyway. At least Eye Scream Man sounds hilariously cheesy...The Marine just sounds dull and boring.

It was amusing to see that after the Yankees did all that whining about a forfeit that they simply swept the double header against the D Rays. See guys, it's not so hard to squash a jobber.

I know Manning didn't see him coming at all there, but still in that situation the only thing that could possibly screw you is to take a sack for serious yards. Just throw the damn thing out of the endzone, and take the easy FG. And then choke in OT. Seriously, this was just a horrible, awful loss for the Colts. I seriously wonder if it will kill their season much like the Colts killed the Bucs last year.

Jesus, what was Manning doing on that last play? You absolutely cannot take a sack in that situation. Granted, Vanderjagt should have still made it from 48 but it's a much harder kick. Ugh, Manning had an INT at the goal line, James fumbled inside the 20. I've just about had my fill of the Patriots though...will someone just beat these fucks?

    Electoral Vote Predictor 2004.

First off, I can't believe anyone would suggest that the various ballots in FL were all totally legit. I mean, there were thousands of people who ended up voting for Pat Buchanan by accident. Hell, I took a look at the butterfly ballot and it took me a couple of looks to make sure of where Gore was in relation to Buchanan. You know another state that is more key that people think? New Hampshire. I took a closer look at those 2000 results and do you realize if NH simply went for Gore the whole FL fiasco would have been moot. Kerry is leading in NH right now by about 5% I think. I also looked at the projected final votes and it was really bizarre. They had Kerry winning TN and OK. I might see TN, given that Kerry was leading in 1 poll by 2% the other day (now he's down 10+%). But OK? Kerry has been consistently down almost 20% there. No clue as to why he would win that. Assuming that Kerry does in fact lose both FL and OH, his margin for error is VERY thin at that point. He'd have to get everything else that Gore got plus NH. Which brings me back to Pennsylvania...Kerry has to win that state. I'll be checking the polls for PA regularly.

    What is the difference between

I'm surprised no one mentioned the 1994 LSU/KY game where LSU had a 33 pt. lead and UK came all the way back to win it. LSU wasn't real good but still....a 33 point lead?? Another UK game would be the 1998 rematch with Duke, where the Blue Devils had a 17 pt. lead with 8 mins to play and choked like bitches.

    Electoral Vote Predictor 2004.

Maybe the studies say Kerry can't win without either Ohio or Florida, but I'm telling you it is entirely possible. PA is the state Kerry should be really worried about (NJ and CA both will end up going for Kerry, he'd have to truly fuck up not to get both of those). Provided that board stays exactly the same and PA goes to Kerry, all he'd need is Colorado and he's got it. In regards to FL, I don't know. If they use a legit ballot (as in no butterfly crap, dimpled chads, etc.) then I think Kerry can take the state likely by that 0.3 margin. It isn't likely that Nader will get the kind of support he did in 2000 anyway, where he cost Gore some votes.

    Electoral Vote Predictor 2004.

I will submit that Kerry doesn't HAVE to take either Ohio or Florida. It'd be nice, but in yesterday's poll he was winning with 264 electoral votes (now Bush I think is ahead 253-244). The state that is truly bizarre is Missouri. Yesterday it was a dead heat and now Bush is up 55-41?? That's complete bullshit and even the guy writing on the site said so. I'm telling you, the key state is Pennsylvania. Kerry 100% positively HAS to take that state. It's a state that Gore won in 2000 by 4%, and I think it'll eventually go that way this time. Note that Kerry would have 264 with PA on his side, and if he got basically anything else he'd win. The last poll on that site had Kerry slightly leading (less than 1%) in FL, so I'm not sure what poll had him behind.

An Atlanta/St. Louis NLCS is what the doctor ordered. Mind you, I'd rather see Cubs/Cards but do you seriously think the Cubs will get the WC AND also win a series? I dunno, I've never been totally sold on the Braves this year. After all, if they couldn't win titles with Maddux and Glavine, why would they start now? Besides, if anyone other than the Cardinals gets to the Series out of the NL it'll be a farce, a sick joke. Cardinals vs. Yankees...draws money. Cardinals vs. Red Sox...there's some history there, draws money. Cardinals vs. A's even draws money with the LaRussa connection.

I'm starting to think the Astros are going to win the WC. Every night I turn on the TV to see that they put up 9 or 10 on someone. Wouldn't they play the Braves the first round? If so, they're screwed. Houston is the one team in the NL that never seems to do anything against ATL in the playoffs (Phillies, Marlins, Padres, Cardinals, Cubs have all taken out the Braves).

    Electoral Vote Predictor 2004.

Anyway it's moot because I took a look at the website again (www.electoral-vote.com) and now it has Kerry at 264 and Bush at 222. So nobody really has a win right now, but Kerry just needs to get Missouri or something else and he's got it. PA is now in his column at roughly the same numbers that Gore won it in 2000. I was bewildered that Kerry was leading in TN, where I thought he'd be getting owned. Now he's getting owned. I said it going in...Kerry needs to get SOMETHING in the south. Anything. Arkansas, Florida, whatever. He was shown leading barely in FL, though it was listed as a tie. Heh, basically I think if people simply fill out their ballot correctly this time Kerry will take FL. Simply put, it's going to be close. I'll be chewing my nails the first Tuesday in Nov.

    Electoral Vote Predictor 2004.

I took a look at that new electoral map and it's quite interesting. Bush's big bounce is basically little more than him further smoking Kerry in states that Kerry wasn't going to win anyway. As in who cares if Kerry loses Mississippi 55-43 or 65-33? The key to this election is not FL or even OH...it's PA. Bush was up by 1% on that recent poll in PA and that gave him the deciding 20 electoral votes to get to 275. PA is historically more Democratic in presidential elections, and Kerry can certainly take that state. If that happens shift 20 electoral votes and it's like Kerry 257, Bush 255. Thus it comes down to MN, IA, and CO. So really these polls that have Bush up 11% are really pretty ridiculous if you look at how up in the air the actual electoral map is.

The bizarre thing AS keeps bringing up is the D Rays having everyone tell a different story here. With the hurricane and everyone running about they likely just don't know what the hell they're doing. It's not some grand conspiracy, or that the D Rays were terrified of the mighty Yankees. In the end, the Yankees just come off as cocks here, and also terrified of Boston in their rearview mirror...so they want a win any way they can get it.

Knowing the Cubs, this A ball kid will likely have the game of his life. That said, surely either the Marlins or Astros will have to cool down at some point. It seems like both of these teams have just been playing the dregs of society lately...Astros have been maiming the Reds and Pirates, Marlins stomping the Mets. Incidentally, what's the big issue between the Yankees and D Rays? The Yankees kinda come off as dicks in it I think. There was a huge ass hurricane, so just postpone the game till later, or play two. It's not like the D Rays just said "Fuck it, we don't want to get beat down" and refused to show.

    Box Office Top Ten

The odd thing about Vanity Fair is that it's been made at least 2 other times that I know of, both in the 30s. I think Myrna Loy was in one version under the actual title...and of course the most notable version was the 1935 movie Becky Sharp, which is noted now as being the first film in full blown 3 color Technicolor. Why they would want to remake such a thing now I have no idea, since even Becky Sharp wouldn't rise above **1/2.

Official: US Capture of bin Laden close

I remember during the initial BS Afghan operation when we came THIS close to catching Bin Laden, only to screw the pooch and let him slip through our fingers. As I said, no one is really thinking about Bin Laden right now. He hasn't been on the news in ages, so if he's captured so close to the election it'll look really bad. I'm kinda torn about it. Frankly, I was hoping Kerry would win the election, then we could catch Bin Laden in Jan. All this time I've had the sad feeling that we could nab Bin Laden anytime we felt like it, but chose not to in order to give Bush a boost in 2004 for the election. But maybe I'm too cynical.

Official: US Capture of bin Laden close

It would be so funny to me if we catch Bin Laden and it actually HURT Bush in the polls because everyone would realize what bullshit it is that we got him conveniently in time for the election. I've been worrying about this for about 2 years actually, that we'd screw around intentionally for a long time and get Bin Laden right in time for the election.

The Yankees getting the wildcard instead of the division isn't really a big deal. Who cares, really? Note that the WC team won the Series in 1997, 2002, and 2003. Personally I hate the whole wildcard thing. To me if you don't win your division you have no business getting to a World Series. In 1997 and 2003 the Braves were clearly better than the Marlins over a 162 game schedule...yet the Marlins end up in the World Series? It also kills the suspense with this whole Yankees/Sox thing. I mean, so what if the Yankees do choke and lose the division? They'll still make the playoffs, so it's not a do or die situation.

If Steinbrenner wants Matt Clement, it ain't that big of a deal. Clement is ok, but he's like the 5th best guy the Cubs have when they're healthy (Wood, Prior, Maddux, even Zambrano..all better). Now, Beltran is another thing. Cubs should save up a war chest to get this guy. I'd like to see someone turn down the Yankee money. The only guy I can think of that did was Maddux in 1993, who went to the Braves instead (which actually might have been an error in judgement...could have won about 3 more titles in NY).

    ecw rise and fall dvd

The sad truth about Shane Douglas not being on this disc is that for the most part he was never really all THAT good. Sure, he held the belt on ECW a bunch of times, but there were always guys doing better stuff than him elsewhere on the show. And after him holding the title through 1998 when he was hurt (they didn't strip him or anything), it's fine by me that they didn't include him in the matches. Now, comments on the matches: The Pit Bulls vs. Raven & Stevie Richards 2 out of 3 Falls Dog Collar Match for ECW World Tag Team Championship Gangsta's Paradise - Philadelphia, PA - 16.09.95 (This is actually a rollicking fun match, and oddly the only ECW match Scott Keith ever gave *****. It's kinda sloppy but one of the strongest storyline driven matches you'll see. I can see it being on here.) Rey Mysterio Jr vs. Psichosis 2 out of 3 Falls Hardcore TV - Philadelphia, PA - 17.10.95 (I'm fairly sure I've seen this if it's the N2R 95 match. If it's not, then I dunno what it is. I'd bet it was cool though, but neither of these guys exactly define ECW in my book.) Mikey Whipwreck vs. The Sandman Ladder Match for ECW Championship Hardcore TV - Philadelphia, PA - 28.10.95 (Well, you had to have them on here. Personally I'd put Mikey and Tajiri vs. the FBI, which was an insane classic match where literally 3 of the 4 guys had a career night.) 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Sabu ECW World Television Championship Match CyberSlam - Philadelphia, PA - 17.02.96 (Never have seen this one, probably bad ass.) Tommy Dreamer vs. Raven WrestlePalooza - Philadelphia, PA - 06/06.97 (Alternate Commentary) (This is already on the Wrestlepalooza DVD, and it's a blast from a story perspective. One time where run ins seriously amplified a match in my view. Captivating.) Tazz vs. Bam Bam Bigelow ECW World Television Championship Match Living Dangerously - Asbury Park, NY - 01.03.98 (Alternate Commentary) (This is mostly about the ring collapsing, since the stuff leading up to it wasn't all that thrilling. Rematch was good, though I might put a time limit draw with Bigelow/Taz/Sabu on here.) Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn ECW World Television Championship Match Hardcore Heaven - Poughkeepsie, NY - 16.05.99 (Alternate Commentary) (This match was runner up for MOTY in PWI in 1999, but I saw at least 2 or 3 matches with them that were better. This one has a bit too much stalling by RVD and the Lynn injury. Can't put the L.D. 99 match since it had the retarded stuff with the ref wanting to give Lynn the belt on a TIME LIMIT DRAW. The 2000 match had the lame Scotty Anton heel turn, so no. The GAC 2001 match wasn't really notable or anything. Thus, the match I'd put on here would be a forgotten early TNN one from the ECW Arena. The heat for that match was just amazing.)

Okay, to chime in on Caray and Stone. I personally LIKE the fact that they sometimes put over the other team and trash the Cubs. I mean, when Alou gets picked off or something, that's a DUMBSHIT thing to do, and deserving of badmouthing by the announcers. When Farnsworth blows a 4 run lead he deserves to be trashed by Steve Stone. Watching a White Sox game is like torture, given the fact that 1. I don't like the White Sox and 2. Their announcers are the biggest homers I've ever seen. An announcer shouldn't constantly root for his home team. Maybe subtle stuff, but not outright cheering on a home run by his team ("You can put it on the boooooaaard, yes!"). I wonder if the Cubs ever realized that Caray and Stone are possibly as frustrated with the team as most of the fans are?
