When he first got there it seemed like he was by himself, but he wasn't over even the slightest bit. Oh, and what about Mr. Perfect? Wasn't Hennig involved with him in some way or other?

Question: Did Gehrig move to the cleanup spot by 27, when they got scary dominant? I always thought of him as the cleanup hitter. The NL wildcard now is really bizarre. The Cubs were expected to contend, Astros are finally playing to their potential, Marlins are the defending champions, and the Giants have Bonds and Schmidt. The only team I can't figure out is the Padres, who really don't seem terribly imposing in any way.

Heh, possibly due to them winning two World Series in a row after that 1926 series, including the legendary 27 team that was the most dominant team ever? After taking a look at that PBP I really am baffled as to why Ruth did that, since they were only down 1 run. And what the hell was Meusel doing batting cleanup? Was Miller Huggins on crack?
-
No real reason why the A's can't beat any of those three, provided they get a little luck on their side. Especially the Twins, A's have a better record than them anyway (in a better division). This 1926 info is fascinating. I always heard that Lazzeri was the "goat of the 26 Series" but it sounds like Ruth did a bigger screwup.

There was a blip about this in Entertainment Weekly that caught my eye. It said the typical stuff like "Sam Raimi in discussions with New Line to add Ash from the Evil Dead (first played by Bruce Campbell) to a Freddy vs. Jason sequel." The part that bothered me was the "first played by Bruce Campbell" part. You don't think they would seriously cast someone else as Ash do you? If they do, God help em...the backlash would be crazy from horror fans.

Why do I have a feeling that this Cubs/Marlins series will be rescheduled to the last day of the season, and of course come back to haunt the Cubs?

"Just because a woman has had mutliple sexual partners in her life (which does not make her a "slut," btw; that's just a patriarchal and chauvinistic pejorative) does not mean she wants to have sex with everyone who comes along." Allegedly this bimbo was nailing 3 guys over the course of 2 days or something....by nearly any standard that is a slut. In addition, one of these encounters was with someone not too long after the Kobe incident, and that seriously damages her case. She was so upset after being "raped" that she went out and fucked someone the next day?

Really? I thought the 26 World Series ended with Grover Cleveland Alexander striking out Tony Lazzeri, but the Ruth stealing 2nd story is much funnier. Heh, maybe I'm remembering that one Ronald Reagan movie where he played Alexander (The Winning Team). Anyway, the Cubs are the worst base running team known to man. There isn't a game that goes by that I don't see someone picked off, caught stealing, run through a stop sign, or get bad coaching from either the 1st or 3rd base coaches.

When I saw the 26 at first I thought it was another year, instead of the # of titles won. Heh, I think the Yankees actually lost the WS that year to the Cardinals.

I never really believed that he raped her. It didn't really make any sense, and now that she's basically in it for money we see what this is all about. If I'm Kobe I don't file a slander suit, I just write her that check for 75,000 and tell her to piss off. I mean, 75 grand is all she is asking for?

Boston sports fans are obsessed with the Red Sox and yet don't seem to grasp the big picture. Think about it, the Celtics have won god knows how many NBA titles. The Patriots have won 2 Super Bowls recently. I don't know much about hockey but I'd assume the Bruins have won the Stanley Cup as well, maybe not recently but they have won it. Yet all Boston fans can think of is the Red Sox and the curse. I've joked that the Red Sox will eventually beat the Yankees in the ALCS....only to then lose Game 7 of the World Series.

Actually I don't think RVD used the Pantera version of Walk. The version I remember was the Kilgore version from the ECW CD, and I think I actually like that version better. He may have used the Pantera version before that CD came out, but he wasn't as over at that point. One of a Kind isn't nearly as good as far as getting a crowd jacked.

Anglesault finally tore loose! Being a Louisville fan this game reminded me of a basketball game against TCU this past year. U of L was ranked at the time, TCU sucks ass of course...yet TCU won the game something like 75-48. I wasn't really even that pissed, just said "What the hell happened there?" and moved on. It's the close OT or extra inning losses that suck the most. Those are the ones where chairs get broken and holes get smashed in the walls. Yankee fans always have a couple dozen world titles to fall back on however.

If I recall correctly the now megalomaniac Angle wanted Eddie to feud with Luther in order for Luther to be put over like a monster (this is if you believe the gossip). So yes, Eddie will be jobbing to Luther. I don't understand the notion of pushing mid level heels like Luther against (possibly even over) guys like Eddie. SMDN needs some major faces on the show, whereas angles like this only serve to hurt one of the main faces's heat.

Honestly now, what woman in WWE history has ever used the fed to go on to bigger and better things?

For what it's worth I was actually on a Little League All Star team that won a game 22-1. We lost the next game and were eliminated from the tourney. Yankees will likely come out tomorrow and win.
-
Well, sometimes you just get your ass kicked. This 22-0 score was a laugher but not something to be terribly worried about in the short term. Just a fluke. That said... No way are these guys winning it all. You don't lose 22-0 and win it all. It reminds me of another game the Indians had against a powerful team: the 2001 Mariners. M's got ahead something like 11-1 and somehow the Indians came back and won it in extra innings. On that night I knew despite however many wins the Mariners would get, there was no way these guys are going to win the World Series. I think the Yankees will scrape themselves off the floor and win the division, but their playoff chances are looking bleaker by the day.

Jurassic Park 4 - A review of the screenplay.
cabbageboy replied to Downhome's topic in Television & Film
By the way, the whole intelligent dinosaurs thing isn't a shock to anyone who has ever read an issue of Turok. Incidentally, why doesn't someone do a movie of Turok? I'm sick of this "Be kind to the dinosaurs" shit a la Lost World. I wanna see a big dude fuck up some dinos. The dinosaurs in the Turok comics (at least the early issues) could talk and everything. I suggest a crossover: Send Turok to Jurassic Park, and the problem would be over. -
Wasn't Warner playing with a concussion during that 5 TO debacle? As far as Couch goes, even though he's a KY guy I can't really defend him. He'll be lucky to make the Packers as their BACKUP. As far as Vick goes, I think he'll maybe miss a game or two this year due to lingering injuries but overall he'll play about 13 games.

HHH is basically like Shane Douglas at this point when it comes to being a face: it simply cannot be done. He's a lousy face and people don't like him as a face (yet cheer him as a heel) thus showing even further how totally out of whack the Raw booking is. Orton supplanting his mentor as leader of Evolution is a good idea, provided HHH could actually play a face, which he can't. As it is now, I would just job Orton out at the next PPV and have Evolution regain confidence in HHH. Orton can then fully turn face and get the crowd behind him as he goes through Evolution en route to regaining the title.

That's quite the amusing idea, with Eddie moving in next door. Has anything like that happened in wrestling before? In regards to Bradshaw, they really haven't gone down that much of a road yet. Sure, they put the title on him but for the most part they haven't jobbed many people out to him (hence he cuts his ads, squashes jobbers, etc.). Aside from Eddie there really hasn't been much of anyone jobbed out to Bradshaw. Since he's a complete joke, job him out and cut your losses. Which is worse...jobbing out Bradshaw now, or him holding the belt another 6 months?

Sure it'd be nice to see Maddux get the CG, but has Pedro Martinez in Game 7 last year taught us nothing?
-
Heh, I saw the Farnsworth thing on ESPN as a blip, and I wondered "Maybe him being hurt is why he's been sucking lately." Then I read he just kicked a fan and hurt himself yesterday. It's just so irritating though....the Braves have been bitchslapping the Giants this weekend, and what do the Cubs do? Job out two in a row to the Assssstros.
-
Taking Maddux out of the game? No biggie, the closer should CLOSE the game. Not getting a runner in from 3rd? Maybe tough luck. But continually putting Farnsworth into ballgames despite all the evidence that he sucks. Inexcusable.

I'm not going to trash Angle. Look, if ever a roster needed some veterans to step up and say "This is bullshit, here's what we need to do" it would be SMDN. SMDN right now is starting to break out of the horrid doldrums it'd been in and I dare say Angle's return to active duty has been a reason.
