Bad Blood Main Event announced on radio ad

Would you prefer that Benoit job the title to one of these two so that the title could be the focus of the main event? Didn't think so.

Yeah Korn has released an album in the past year, though I don't think it has done all that well. I have vague memories of Korn's first album in 1994 or so. They weren't at all popular back then, and got scant airplay doing the same basic style that they do now. Then again, in 1994 there were actually GOOD bands getting the airplay on rock stations.

    Details On New WWE Writer

Kreski was always overrated I thought. Some of the biggest bonehead booking decisions in recent history happened during his run (HHH retaining at WM 2000, the flop ending to the love triangle, etc.) but to give him the benefit I dunno what he had in mind before politics entered into it. The match quality was better but for a more entertaining era I prefer the Austin 98 stuff under....Russo. Heh.

    Linda Wachowski??

Yeah I remember a thread a long while ago about this, but I sorta dismissed it like "He surely won't go through with it." Has a major Hollywood figure ever done something like this?
  5. I'm bewildered at the amount of ideas to seriously PUSH Steiner. Come on guys, after his disasterous debut feud with HHH he's going nowhere. He'll likely either end up jobbing on SMDN or maybe be thrown back with Test in The Feud That Will Never Die.

    Upcoming Heel Turns

RVD was always WAY better as a heel than as a standard face. People forget this. Yeah in ECW he was the most popular guy on the roster but his character was an all out prick: He cheated during matches, had a revolting and annoying manager (Bill Alfonso), belittled his tag partner Sabu at every opportunity, badmouthed opponents, and made copious drug references to boot. And he never lost. Hell, RVD for the most part was getting stale by the end of his run in ECW. Since no one was watching ECW by that point, or had no capability to watch, no one noticed.

Here's the thing though....why would a serious musician do something like that? I suppose it is to produce a certain sound or effect, and yeah I can't think of too many bands who sound much like Korn. I'll give them that much, when you hear Korn on the radio you say "That's a Korn song." They do have their own sound. It's not a particularly GOOD sound (in fact it sucks ass), but it's their sound.

    Upcoming Heel Turns

The minute I saw RVD get involved with Eddie I had tantalizing visions of the old surefire angle: "Buddies who unite against a common enemy then misunderstandings and jealousy sparks a heel turn and feud." I definitely think RVD will turn on Eddie, but not for quite a while. First, he has to sign a new deal. In the meantime Booker will likely be positioned as Eddie's opponent over the summer. RVD will hopefully turn heel on Eddie sometime in the fall, and will need some wins to establish himself on SMDN. Basically I figure RVD has to turn at some point since him against Eddie is one of the few matches on SMDN that anyone would care about seeing.

Yeah I agree that Ya'll Want a Single is a horrible song, but it just sounds like typical Korn garbage to me. Incidentally, what is that rattling crap that is seemingly in every Korn song? Someone recently told me it was a seriously out of tune bass.

The Monster Legacy DVD Gift Set: Anyone else...

Heh, well even I don't think that the Wolf Man was in a real classic besides the original. After that came the incoherent Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (How did Talbot come back to life? Why was the Frankenstein family so hated in Visaria considering the original tale happened in the village Frankenstein? What happened to the Monster's ability to talk using Ygor's brain?). Then from there the Wolf Man was mainly in the monster rallys like House of Frankenstein, House of Dracula, and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. It's actually quite interesting to note how similar Van Helsing looks to the "monster rally" B outings.

    News: Angle, RVD's contract

Patience, my friend. The RVD heel turn on Eddie will happen eventually, but last night was just the first SMDN meeting of the two. Gotta have them as friends for a while before the inevitable heel turn. Might could even milk it till WM 21 if they wanted to. And yes given SMDN's current roster giving the title to RVD after he signs a new deal is a no brainer.

The Monster Legacy DVD Gift Set: Anyone else...

I don't even consider Creature From the Black Lagoon a real horror series from Universal. It goes more in the 50s sci fi genre than actual horror. Besides, it's not like any of the Creature movies is any good to begin with. For all those who think the Wolf Man is a lesser monster, check out the earlier Werewolf of London on that DVD. Wolf Man is leagues better.

    Chavo's Opponent

"Helms could get over if he was in Christian's position. Smarmy little cocky bastard, with a slutty valet and a huge bodyguard to do all of his dirty work. It never fails!!" All I have to say to that is this: Justin Fucking Credible. I'm not sure who it will be, but I think Jeff makes more sense on Raw at this point. He and Lita can have missed spot contests. I do wonder though: What is this big deal with Paul London? Everyone here seems to love the guy and having seen him a few times in WWE (including a house show) and on the NWA I can safely say he's not anything amazing. Is it just because he's some indie guy who got signed?

The Monster Legacy DVD Gift Set: Anyone else...

What's with all the hate for the Wolfman? Lawrence Talbot was always leagues better as a character than the Mummy. I'll admit to enjoying the Kharis series but Kharis isn't a terribly interesting character. And really the original Mummy is a thinly veiled rehash of Dracula with Imhotep in the place of the Count (hell both even have David Manners and Van Sloan doing the same basic characters). I'll admit that only the original Wolfman was a classic but Chaney, Jr. was also good as Talbot in Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman, House of Frankenstein, and House of Dracula.

I think in regards to ICP they couldn't think of that ONE song that they thought truly sucked...they thought all of their stuff sucked (I'm not inclined to disagree). I made the same argument about Korn earlier...they probably belong somewhere on this list, but WHICH song?

The Monster Legacy DVD Gift Set: Anyone else...

I only got the Dracula set for the time being, I think my dad ended up getting the Wolf Man set (which sounds pretty weak to be honest). I have yet to get the Frankenstein stuff mainly because I already have older DVDs of the original and the Son/Ghost double disc.

    Universal Horror

Well, you can get them one at a time for about 20.00 a piece or there's a big 3 monster set for roughly 60.00.

    Universal Horror

I picked up the Dracula boxed set today and it has all sorts of stuff on it that makes an old school horror collector's mouth drop. The original Lugosi movie, the Spanish version, Dracula's Daughter, Son of Dracula, and House of Dracula. Some of the extras include trailers, a documentary, commentary with a couple of historians, pics, etc. It's funny but I can remember a time when most of these titles alone on VHS were 20.00. That's the price of this entire collection! My dad ended up getting the Wolf Man series, and it doesn't sound nearly as good. It has the definitive Lon Chaney, Jr. version, Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, but the other two movies are dubious: Werewolf of London, which isn't really a Wolf Man (re: Lawrence Talbot) movie, and She Wolf of London, which was a crappy B programmer. I'm not sure what all is on the Frankenstein boxed set in terms of extras, but with the Karloff original, Bride, Son, Ghost, and House of Frankenstein how can you go wrong? That's probably the best of the three sets, but I didn't get it since I already have DVDs of Frankenstein and the double feature Son of Frankenstein/Ghost of Frankenstein. Anyone else pick any of these sets up?

    Weekend boxoffice report

Considering Timothy Dalton's crappy run as Bond at the box office I'd say Brosnan drawing money as Bond is actually a decent feat. I dunno if we're just talking male stars here, but here's someone whose drawing power is a bit startling: Sandra Bullock. Most people would consider her a fairly big star but it seems like every piece of crap vehicle she's in make about 90 million.

    Basham Brothers

Sometimes this sort of thing is exaggerated, but OVW does actually let the guys who can bust it out actually BUST IT OUT. I actually saw a really great Al Snow match against Nick Dinsmore on OVW once. I mean since his ECW days what remotely decent match has Al Snow been involved in? From OVW stuff though I'd have to say Danny/Damaja is better than Doug. Hell even Benoit didn't get much out of Doug when he made a guest appearance.
  21. cabbageboy

    Basham Brothers

Well, the Bashams aren't the worst tag team I've ever seen or anything. Perhaps it's my peculiar loyalty to local OVW guys, but there are far worse. The previously mentioned X-Pac/Road Dog and Bull/Godfather teams were easily more excruciating.
  22. UT's last title run in 2002 to me was his "loyalty title win." There was no particular reason to put the title on him then either, but oddly enough his title run was probably the best of that abysmal year (Jericho's botched run, HHH's 1 month run, Hogan's 1 month run, Rock's 1 month run, Brock's monster push that wasn't entirely working, Big Show's one month run, etc). Right now there really isn't anything for him to do on SMDN, much less challenge for the title. They need to trade Kane to SMDN or something, give him some big heel to deal with. Maybe Big Show once he returns. But the title? Why? Eddie is doing fine and has better potential opponents if WWE ever realizes it.

"We Built This City" voted Worst Song Ever

Achy Breaky Heart isn't really THAT bad of a song, it was mostly just overplayed beyond all belief in 1992. If it'd been a hit the size of, oh, Boot Scoot N' Boogy by Brooks N Dunn nobody would hate on it. The one that seriously pissed me off is Two Princes being on here. I dare say that's one of the better pop/rock songs of the 1990s (and one of the Spin Doctors 3 good songs along with Little Miss Can't Be Wrong and Jimmy Olsen's Blues). We have Bizkit on this list and deservedly so, but no Korn? Thing is, I don't like ANY of Korn's stuff so I couldn't narrow it down to one song to put on a list.

    Eugene's character to change...

There is some truth to this OVW stuff (I know, I'm from Louisville). I'll try and clarify who from OVW impressed me and who really didn't while they were here: Doug Basham: Don't care much for him...even Benoit didn't get much out of him when Benoit came here for a rare appearance. Damaja (Danny): He's ok, kinda bland. Nothing to write home about. Rob Conway: He's about the same in WWE actually. Has good heelish charisma. Nick Dinsmore: He actually IS really good when given the opportunity. I saw a match on OVW when Al Snow came down here and it was awesome. The peculiar thing about OVW is that the guys who are actually GOOD on there never seem to get anywhere. On that same Snow/Dinsmore show there was a wild hardcore brawl between Trailer Park Trash and Flash Flannagan that was Foley worthy...yet I don't think either of those guys are even in OVW anymore, and certainly never got a chance in WWE. Same thing goes for Conway and Dinsmore, they'd been down here forever and seemingly never got a break till recently.

OAO Kill Bill Vol. 2 Thread...

I'm still not really sure what I thought of Vol. 2. I'm not going to say it was the best movie I've ever seen or anything, in fact I dunno if I even enjoyed it as much as Vol. 1. There were certainly parts I liked a lot: Pei Mei, the 5 point death strike, the catfight in the trailer, Madsen being his usual bastard self, and Carradine as well. I didn't really like the last half hour all that much though. Perhaps I would have had it had a real fight, but 20 mins. of rambling dialogue followed by 30 seconds of actual fight (leading up to the death of the ostensible main heel) was sorta.....weak. I've liked Tarantino's work in the past for the most part but I've always found his writing in man/woman conversations a bit lacking for some reason (think Willis and the French chick in Pulp Fiction).
