Who is supposed to win Guerrero/Angle at WM

If GB starts making demands about wanting to win at WM, sayonara. No way do I let him dictate booking to me if I'm Vince. Who does he think he is? HHH? That said it makes no sense to totally job him out in a squash either. There's always the chance that he might re-up at some point so I'd have him job but in a competitive match. If Brock squashed Goldberg it would look like total bullshit and no one would buy it. If Brock beats him in a tough match (cleanly) then it'd be all the more impressive. There shouldn't ever be a squash in a main event match at WM.

    The Darkness

Heh, when I first heard the Darkness I thought "What the hell is this shit?" I joked and made fun of them. After seeing that VH1 bit on them though I can see that they aren't meant to be taken totally seriously and now I'm amused by it.

Who is supposed to win Guerrero/Angle at WM

Yeah is there any point it putting it back on Kurt? We know what he can do as a face and as a heel, and neither has translated to huge money as a title holder. Let Eddie run with it for a while and see if he can draw.

    When the smoke has cleared...

If rumors are true Edge will be going to Raw soon to face HHH, so I don't even think he's jobbing the title at WM. Or maybe the Edge thing is their way of working him back in a major program, but not necessarily with a title involved. I dunno.

    Ed Wood on DVD

I talked to the manager at Suncoast about this and he said there wasn't any legit reason, just stuff like wanting to see if Depp wins best actor so they can hype it. I doubt it would be 2 years from now though, that would be kinda lame if true.

    Beavis & Butthead Mini Marathon

I watched some of this marathon and it's kinda sad but they didn't show the great episodes. Nothing as transcendent as "Kick me in the Jimmy!" was on there. Or the "Breakin the Law" moment of Butthead chopping off Beavis's finger. The show itself was always kinda pointless, just random videos with commentary along with a couple of plots. Still, I remember the first time I saw it back in the Summer of 1993. I was gasping for air from laughing so hard.

    Post Mania Plans for Angle

I thought Eddie winning at the PPV was an obvious thing, but I dunno after reading the SMDN spoilers. I hope he does though.

The ONE and Only College Basketball...

Conference tourneys are kinda silly, I'll admit. For instance, take a look at the champions of the 1990s. I'm not sure for a few years but I know UNC didn't win the ACC tourney in 1993, but won the national title. Ditto Arkansas in 1994 (UK with the slight upset). UK in 1996 lost to Miss St. in the SEC finals. So it's not like these things matter in the grand scheme of things. The OVC has it about right. You have to play well to even make their conf. tourney, and the 1st place team gets home court provided their arena is decent enough. At least that's what someone told me recently. Austin Peay vs. Murray St....smell the ratings for ESPN.

The ONE and Only College Basketball...

Yeah, you see Damaramu you can be in the top 65 and be shut out because they let in the champion of all the crappy conferences. That's how you get a 16 seed with a 13-18 record at times, they win their tourney. I think a tourney adds intrigue with more lesser known teams, rather than just putting in ho hum jobbers from major conferences like Missouri or Michigan St.

    Lost in Translation

I finally saw this movie and to be honest I don't get what all the hype is about. It seemed meandering and nothing much happened in it. I think that maybe it would have been better as a Woody Allen movie in the 70s, since that's what it struck me as....a modern update of 70s character study type films. Thing is, a movie can still be good if it is meandering and nothing happening. To do that though we have to really get to know the characters, and I just never felt that way while watching L.I.T.

Why do heel champions supposdedly draw better?

This theory is bullshit. I've always thought so. A heel can only work as champion in a short term capacity (re: a few months before jobbing to a major face). Fans just get sick of a heel as champion....why pay to see someone who you don't like that won't ever LOSE? To be honest, Flair really didn't draw all that well in the 80s as a heel champ. That's the NWA's dirty little secret. All the Dusty Finishes and Horseman nonsense was ok in the short term, but long term it killed the company (that and the UWF brainfart). See, with Austin or the Rock they would get the belt again after a few months. Thus, a heel could remain a hot draw without wearing out his welcome.
  12. I also didn't think Depp would be too suited for the Luthor role. But if you recall Hackman played it mostly as a con man goof more than an evil bastard. I won't come down on them for having Halle Berry be Catwoman, because at least there has been a black Catwoman in some incarnation (Eartha Kitt in the 60s). But Lois Lane? She's ALWAYS been white. The Kingpin being black doesn't actively add or detract from the film. The dude is still a crime boss, he's still huge, etc.

The ONE and Only College Basketball...

I won't get on Stanford for rushing the court since that was an amazing shot and win. What makes me sick is crap like Memphis storming the court when they beat U of L the other night. I mean, we had our two best players hurt for god's sake! They get a gift win due to our guys being hurt and not playing, they win in lame fashion by FOUR, and you think it's something to cheer about? They have to come to Freedom Hall later in the season....and we'll hopefully be healthy by then. Asses will be kicked.

    Assuming its Angle/Eddie

I really hope they don't just use Eddie as a transition guy. What is the point of putting it back on Angle anyway? At this point we know what he can do as either heel or face with the title (which won't be anything astounding). Why not let Eddie keep it for a good long while to see if he can draw or not? Eddie can continue to feud with Angle for a while, Lesnar will want a rematch, he and Cena have history that can be tapped into, Chavo can get a minor feud....plenty of stuff to do with Eddie as champ. But Angle? More of him against Brock.....ugh.

THE ONE AND ONLY SMACKDOWN! THREAD!

I enjoyed SMDN fairly well last night, though admittedly I was channel surfing during the Rey video crap. Heh. That Eddie promo was one of those awesome moments though, I gotta say. My friend Chris even called right after it saying "My god did you see that?"
  16. I actually heard they might go with UT/Kane as the main event! I hope to god that isn't true, since it would be insanely retarded. My god, that match wasn't even the main in 1998 when it was fresh and had major heat. I don't think a 3 way should be the last match (and the Raw belt is worthless anyway) so Eddie/Angle should be the main.
  17. I repeat, Lesnar cannot possibly hold the title going into WM. There is nothing about it that makes sense. After tonight's SMDN we know that there is a 3 way for the #1 contender between Angle, Cena, and Show. Since I can't really see Cena maining WM yet and there's no way in hell Big Show is that leaves Kurt as the only likely winner. And since Kurt will be #1 contender for WM, he'll likely face Eddie (whom he has had some angles with of late). Pretty much all of those Brock vs. whoever matches have been done to death or weren't any good. Angle? Done to death. Show? Seriously done to death. Cena? Wasn't any good. Thus, Eddie is going to win.

Stuff you haven't listened to in forever.

Good lord, I also busted out the Candlebox too recently. Heh, I couldn't hardly even make it through Far Behind. That CD dates badly with time. Also listened to Pearl Jam's Ten and Vs. for the first time in a long while. Much like the Candlebox neither of those holds up all that well today. I didn't even bother with stuff like Evenflow or Alive...I've been burnt out on those for years. Garden is actually quite the underrated song however.
  19. Well Eddie isn't 250 lbs. but I can see the mugshot people breaking down Hispanics into the basic "white" or "black" categories. Anyway, why are we even discussing this? Eddie MUST win the title at this point. No other scenario makes a damn bit of sense. I can't see Brock defending against Angle at WM (just happened), the Big Show stuff is played with Brock, and his match with Cena was weak. I think WM being GB's last day in the company hurts Brock. I mean they can't have the guy going after a major title on his last night...it's insulting to the roster and to everyone who knows GB is gone. It reminds me a bit of the N2R 99 show where Taz fought RVD on his last night in ECW. Everyone knew Taz was jobbing, so why bother making it for a belt of any kind? On the SMDN side WM should be as thus: Eddie/Angle title match Brock/Goldberg grudge dream match Cena/Big Show US title
  20. I have actually seen previews for You Got Served and my brother and I have been merciless in our ridicule of it. He even went so far as to say "God that looks like the worst movie of the year....who would actually call a movie You Got Served?"

    Eddie Guerrero's Popularity

I wouldn't say that Eddie truly started his current gimmick until his return in 2002 against RVD. I mean yeah he was Latino Heat during the Radicals when he was wooing Chyna, but that was a different gimmick to some extent. It wasn't the "Lie, Cheat, and Steal" version of Latino Heat. I think somehow they need to combine these gimmicks. Have Eddie as a lying, cheating, and stealing ladies man. Millions I say, millions! As far as Edge goes, he was over I guess during both the Angle and Eddie feuds but I think even marks realized that Angle and Eddie were doing most of the stuff in those matches that made them above average. Edge is the closest thing to a blank slate there is in wrestling, it totally depends on who he is wrestling. If he's wrestling an average opponent, it'll be a ho hum average match. A bad opponent? Bad match. But against an Eddie or Angle (great opponents)...great match. This isn't to knock Edge, but he's basically the epitome of a bland, blond haired Canadian wrestler.

    Eddie Guerrero's Popularity

The whole Latino Heat schtick is a lot of why Eddie is as over as he is. I think it also helps that most of the SMDN face side isn't as over as people think, hence Eddie started getting cheered as a heel. Notice that on Raw when he feuded with RVD he started the whole "essa, holmes" thing and didn't really get much face reaction (which was correct since he was a heel). Know why? RVD's actually over. I think the beginning of the Eddie love was after he moved to SMDN and feuded with Edge. I think most people could tell he was doing most of the work in that feud, and a key match took place in L.A. with a big Mexican audience. I think that feud made Eddie look better than Edge, since most of the crowd started backing Eddie in it. Made me wonder if Edge was as over as people thought. There are other events, such as his deranged thrashing of Tajiri for besmirching his lowrider and subsequent hilarious non heel turn promo. But it's quite simple why he's over: he's the most consistently entertaining guy on SMDN. Week in and week out, you can always count on Eddie to have a good match and some crazed mic work.

    The Smark Double Standard

I was about to say after seeing SMDN the other night... Eddie didn't really miss much that I saw. The only slightly odd spot was the headscissors which is hard to pull off with 8 guys in the ring. Eddie just tossed Haas right after it so it's not like it mattered really. The Rikishi frogsplash spot wasn't a missed spot at all, more that Kish just didn't have himself positioned on his back and it looked awkward. The whole "Eddie almost falls to floor, ref helps" stuff was not there at all. Actually Eddie almost fell and the ref was nearby but didn't actually touch him. That ADDED to the match, it wasn't a missed spot.

    Back from Smackdown in DC!

Not sure why anyone would think Brock/GB will be for a title at WM. Why on earth would this be for a belt? It's Goldberg's last night in the company, do you think they would put him in a title match? He's only there to do the uber job for Brock, who can then take credit for running GB out of WWE. Eddie has to win at NWO. But for god's sake don't just make him a transition guy to Angle...what's the point in that? Angle's had the belt enough times, we know basically what he can do at this point. Let's see Eddie have a gloriously cheating filled title reign.

    No Way Out

Yeah the moment I saw Brock F5 GB during the Rumble I said to myself "Well, I'd like to be whoever challenges Brock next month, they're sure to get the Goldberg run in." Brock vs. Goldberg doesn't need to have a title involved in it anyway, especially if it's Goldberg's last day in the company as reported. That should be Brock's biggest win to date if it's made to look like he ran Goldberg out of WWE.
