I thought Reid wasn't training down in FL but was instead training with George South at his school or something. Anyone know for sure?

Well if he does suck then Green Bay can cut ties with him after the season and not worry about looking back. I've mentioned it in passing in this thread but if the Packers really thought Rodgers was the undisputed QB of the future they wouldn't have drafted Brohm. Brohm's stock tanked by coming back for an ill advised senior season to play for the debacle known as Steve Kragthorpe. Rodgers is within his rights to now ask for a trade, and he could likely end up as a decent journeyman in the league somewhere.

This is a very odd decision by Lionsgate if you ask me. I can see them wanting to move in a different direction, but why not do a variety of things? After all, Universal used to find a way to do monster movies, Deanna Durbin musicals, and WC Fields comedies all at once.

Speed 2 did 164 million worldwide on a 160 million budget. Considering theaters get a big cut I'd say that lost a ton of money. It would have had to do about 300+ million to make any real money. The new Mummy movie is going to have to make about 400 million worldwide I would think to even begin any serious talk of a 4th one.

Shouldn't he at least sell the angle by not being on the house shows? I recall one time when TNA had a goof on Impact and they showed Tenay and West clearly reading for prepared scripts as they were calling the action. This can't possibly be good for an announcer, which is why I've never really blamed them all that much for their crap announcing.

Yeah I have to admit I am surprised that The Mummy didn't beat out TDK this weekend. Let's see what the weekend actuals ended up being though. The hideous reviews that this Mummy is getting didn't help it any, but to be honest I thought it was silly fun. Nothing great but nothing I'm flat out embarrassed having seen. Pineapple Express at this rate may not do it next week. Knocked Up and Superbad only had 30-33 million openings last year and this looks much more in the vein of a stoner comedy with violence.

Oddly enough on boxofficereport.com they still have Dark Knight winning the weekend just barely over The Mummy 43 million to 42 million. I don't get how they came up with that with those estimates though, unless those are off. And yes, the first movie in a series called Batman needs to be his own movie. It would be like if you had Spider-Man and then gave all the major screen time to The Green Goblin. For the criticisms I've made on Batman Begins at least Nolan realized that there finally needed to be a movie with Bruce Wayne himself as the strong central character.

Shit dude, I'd watch any of these bad AWA shows over stuff like WWF World Tour 1996. In regards to that mixed tag main event, how can you not love Col. De Beers? This guy cut a heel promo bashing women in the workplace, then proceeded to cheat Candy Divine that entire match when she would end up in that corner. Mimi was still hot but not as much as she was in the 1988 shows when she was tormenting Madusa. I recall one of those where she got in the ring wearing this ultra 80s miniskirt and good lord she was a babe.

Maybe The Patriot could have stayed and been the one guy who wasn't affected by the Attitude Era? As in people didn't make fun of his gimmick since he seemed sincere about it, but maybe they added a few tweaks to his character. Personally I think he would have ended up back in WCW at some point. He seems like an absolutely ideal US champ.
-
In other words they would be doing the same booking as Batista/UT from WM last year, with Batista costing UT that tag match and UT getting the win at WM.
-
I believe The Patriot got hurt in late 1997 and either he just quit the company or they released him. After Bret was run off was there much for him to do anyway? Can you imagine The Patriot doing his act at the peak of the Attitude Era in 1998-99?

Let's Talk About...Kevin Sullivan's run with the book in WCW i

Ironically the least I have ever liked Nash was when he was the world champ in 1995. Yes, I even liked him as Vinnie Vegas when he was a jobber in WCW. Thing is, the stuff Nash is good at (like being a wiseass) isn't really something you can do as world champ and draw money. -
That football crap on the recent episode was truly horrible. As in some of the worst crap I've ever seen level bad. The battle royale was at least kinda fun.

Danville, why exactly would Romney help McCain in any of those swing states aside from maybe Michigan? I don't recall Romney having any sort of showing in most of those states, aside from maybe FL. I'm not even sure why PA is even considered any sort of swing state....McCain is wasting his time if he thinks he can get it. And even with Michigan I think all Romney does is make it closer than it would be otherwise. As in instead of Obama winning MI by 8% or so, he'd win by 4%.

I enjoy Wayne's World and Austin Powers for what they are, but two of the greatest comedies of all time? They're at best **1/2 (for Wayne) and *** (for Austin 1), so let's not get this stuff confused with the best of the Marx Bros. or anything. That said, the English roadie was pretty funny in Wayne's World 2. I like how he sleeps upside down "because Keith Richards does it, and Keith cannot be killed by any normal means."

After seeing that tag match the booking at Fall Brawl 97 makes no sense. Hennig actually got the pin in that tag match, yet he simply turns and joins the NWO at the PPV? I have always defended that heel turn but not so much after seeing that match.

Let's not kid ourselves here. Goldust lost his edge when it was revealed that he was straight and did a face turn with Marlena.

What's so goofy is that Adnan was in a friggin BODYSLAM match and he's not exactly a big dude. Nord could have simply slammed him off the bat and it would have been over, but that excruciating trash lasted 15 mins. What's odd is that several of these guys went on to get jobs in the WWF or WCW. Bischoff of course, Nord became The Berserker, Kokina became Yokozuna, Destruction Crew (who were only mentioned) became the Beverly Bros., Slaughter and Adnan were signed for the Iraq angle, Larry Z. went to WCW, and so on. This show sucked of course but I will say this about the Saito/Larry match. Saito busted out one of the rawest submissions ever, with this Sharpshooter attempt with a twist to it where he grabbed Larry's arm as well. Does that have a name? Cause it's awesome and begging for someone to use it now.

Tonight's show was actually pretty silly and fun. Curry Man and Shark Boy carried it, and I never thought I'd say that. I'll put it this way in regards to TNA in mid 2006: There were people seriously thinking they were going to go out of business during that period. I'm talking when Jarrett got the belt the way he did at the KOTM match.
-
Of all those goofs the only one I find consistently fun is Curry Man, mainly because his gimmick is so bizarre and original that it doesn't seem like a ripoff of anyone.
-
That plot sounds hideous. What exactly is Austin Powers going to do in his own movie if it is all about Dr. Evil and Scott Evil? Is Austin going to be a bit player in his own film?
-
I don't know who Cena would even feud with if he turned heel that he can't already face anyway. That's kinda the point of turning heel, to go after someone that promoters won't put you against. But recent booking seems to point the way of a heel turn if you think about it. When Cena had the belt, why would he turn heel? He had it all. A heel turn has to grow out of frustration with the way things are going. Jericho felt angered and frustrated that his big comeback hadn't quite gone the way he planned, he saw Michaels being cheered for what he felt were bogus reasons, so he turned. If they did an angle where Cena got frustrated with his losses this year and got his edge back by turning heel, it could work and he would end up more popular than ever.

Truth be told I don't think the Powers sequels really brought anything to the table. It should have just been a one movie type deal since the sequels take Austin back to the past where he's more comfortable and isn't as inept. We care about Austin Powers when he's a hopelessly out of touch relic from a bygone era. But Austin going back to the 60s? Not so much.

For whatever reason I can't get why Thompson has this unreal obsession with Aaron Rodgers. Yet the actions before this Favre debacle are puzzling. Why draft Brian Brohm if you think Rodgers is truly the answer? If Favre truly does come back he ends up starting again. Rodgers can demand a trade himself and I would imagine several teams would take him. Then Favre does in fact retire in a year or two, and they have Brohm right there.

Well, let's face it Patriot/Savio/HHH was a pretty lame TV main event in 1997. Having seen both of the MNW shows I can safely say the Nitro was better on that week. Isn't this Pillman angle really creepy looking back? The guy dies during this Goldust/Marlena angle, and then not long after his wife shows up on Raw and does an interview with Vince. Very weird and creepy stuff.
