Hopefully the Vince inevitable return angle will involve him coming back to fire Adamle and then hire a real GM, but mostly stay away after that.

I actually completely agree with Nash. Given the current storyline with Joe it would be goofy to see Nash eliminated with no fanfare during a commercial break. Can't say it shocks me that Tomko is leaving, but what a waste. The guy went from being one of the worst workers in the business in WWE to shockingly getting it with his Japan dates and also in TNA. Last year he would have had to be the Most Improved wrestler.

Kahran, you pretty much nailed it with that. I was mostly using what they ended up doing anyway, with the Warrior being involved and all that. I mean Hogan and DDP could have had a match at HH 98, with Goldberg vs. either The Giant or maybe Jericho in a US title program. They could maybe have used someone with the huge size of The Giant to get the US title off Goldberg before the Hogan feud, in some screwjob deal of course. It gets the streak off his back going into the world title feud, and also would give Goldberg a serious drawing feud with Giant when he wins the belt. Basically with some foresight WCW could have kept making major money.

Let's see, HHH in 2002 had exactly one match I'd deem of high quality (vs. Michaels at SS, which got over mostly due to it being HBK's return). In 2003 I don't recall hardly any decent matches or storylines HHH was involved in, maybe another Michaels match late in the year. It wasn't until Benoit went to Raw that HHH had any consistently good matches again.
-
Honestly, considering JBL jobbed out to Punk the very night Punk won the belt why do we need to see that match again on PPV? I'd much rather see Jericho/Punk at SS.
-
So what? Hogan was stale as all fuck for most of 1997 as well, not to mention most of his 1995 title run before that. Think about WCW's goofy build to Starrcade 97, built around Hogan never really defending the title much and Sting never wrestling AT ALL. It worked almost in spite of itself. If you have Hogan do the same stuff he had been doing, like the celebrity crossover matches and a mini feud with DDP, Goldberg could keep squashing people on the undercard in US title matches. The Warrior nonsense could be a stop gap title feud as well, just have the DDP vs. Goldberg match at HH 98 be #1 contender or US title. Goldberg then wins WW3 instead of Nash, goes to Starrcade, then do the exact same match with Hogan that they did do.

Punk didn't win at the Bash though, Kane just ran in and attacked both Punk and Batista. I have to admit this intrigues me, hearing that Vince is behind Punk. I keep hearing the Rey comparisons but there's a difference here. Rey is simply too small to be believable against guys like Mark Henry, JBL, Khali, etc. WWE never wanted to put the belt on him, but due to Orton's various screwups they had to. As far as HHH goes, I'm sick of hearing him constantly bashing other workers. It served some point years ago when he was still worried about his position in the company, but what does he gain by trashing Punk now? When he gets a better match out of Khali than Cena or UT did, let me know.

We may get both angles that I thought about. First would be Adamle acting like a goof and being unable to stem the anarchy on Raw. That is obvious. Then at some point we might get him turning heel and revealing he isn't really a moron, but no one will believe him.

I should have this on DVR so I will definitely check this goofy episode out. Sounds hysterical.

WWE 24/7 Classics OnDemand General Discussion
cabbageboy replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in WWE Multimedia
Oh lord, you won't believe who I saw on the ECW episode they just added. In the Gangstas interview segment at the end of the show DJ RAN of all people introduces them. DJ Ran I believe was the goof that used to be on Nitro as a DJ. -
HHH turning heel is a dilemma since Edge is already SD's top heel. It would take a trade of Edge to Raw for someone else and then maybe HHH could turn. Frankly HHH, while still pretty good in the ring, is so utterly stale as either heel or face that I don't know what they can do with him at this point that hasn't been done. I'd like to see Khali turn face. He's shown moments of amusing whimsy on SD, such as his celebratory dancing with the Indian chicks and his gifts to Big Show. As far as Batista goes, I like what he's doing now. What exactly can he do to turn heel? He attacked UT and left him laying, then went back to his usual role. He has beaten Punk down but really isn't getting a heel reaction. Would him kicking Cena's ass really turn him heel?
-
I'll tell you why Khali gets these yearly pushes: The dude is a hero to a nation of a billion people. Sure, Big Show is a better worker than him but he doesn't really bring in that sort of international drawing power. Khali also just had a fairly large role in a hit movie, Get Smart. My main problem is that he shouldn't be getting a title shot at a major show like Summerslam. If they wanted to job him out at No Mercy or whatever, then fine.

The worst TNA shows I can recall were the hideous ones in mid 2006 with the truly terrible Jarrett/Larry Z/Hebner crap all over them. The Nashville shows might have had some trash on them, but there used to be some good wrestling to be found as well. That stuff sucked so bad that it got Russo rehired. Think about that.
-
As we later found out, Flair himself was actively involved in screwing Goldberg and costing him his WCW career. So that is why he didn't simply end the Russo stipulation of Goldberg repeating his streak. It could have played out really well too if WCW had stayed around. Let's say GB runs through jobber after jobber, but Steiner isn't worried and keeps winning title matches. Goldberg gets closer though and Steiner starts sorta worrying about it. Then finally Goldberg gets within a few wins of the streak and Steiner starts trying to screw him and maybe he actually DOES do it. Then whoever is commish can rightfully overrule this crap and reinstate Goldberg and give him his well earned title shot.

From what I've seen the seats in the Director's Hall are the same size as the standard seats, but they are leather instead. Oh and the usher dude will make a brief speech before the movie starts. One curious aspect of the DH is that you have to pick your seats out when you buy them. This is goofy and frustrating, I just prefer buying tickets and going to the theater and sitting wherever.
-
The dilemma with TNA right now is that I don't see that ONE mega cool match they have on the horizon that they can build to. Joe vs. Sting is lukewarm, Joe vs. Nash is meh. Joe vs. Angle has been done to death, ditto Joe vs. Styles. Joe vs. Jarrett would have zero interest if JJ did in fact come back. My solution would be to throw some money at Rob Van Dam and build to him vs. Joe way down the line.

Oh, Katie Lea....be still my beating heart. I have a feeling this is all going to lead to Katie/Beth in a women's title feud, with Burchill/Santino as an IC feud. Maybe keep Kofi and Mickie in it as well and do a 3 way mixed tag feud, which would be something different.
-
I hung out at a Hooters with Shannon Moore, Matt Morgan, and Luther Reigns.
-
No, no, no. God no. The Director's Hall is the biggest waste of money for nothing I've ever seen. Sure, there's some usher that can take food orders, but I have never seen anyone ever do that in all the times I've been to a Director's Hall. There's zero difference in the actual film. You maybe get leather seats instead of regular ones. It's pointless crap, and they charge 3.00 extra per person for it. I actively check the listings to make sure I find a showtime that ISN'T in the Director's Hall.

I'm not sure Consequences is ready for a title shot of any kind. Since his return earlier in the year he's been mostly a jobber, and in fact recently on Impact Booker treated him like one and they even did a stretcher angle with Creed.

Let's see.....I always thought WCW meant to put the belt on Goldberg again but for whatever reason it just never happened. He was off filming Universal Soldier 2 so his 1999 run to the title was cut short. He came back later in 1999 and seemingly won the belt at HH 99 but that was disallowed and they did the tourney. Russo gave Bret the title on a favor as payback for Montreal of sorts. And then Goldberg tore his arm up right as he was going to feud with NWO 2000 (where I would assume he would beat Bret for the title?). He came back and did the ill advised "heel turn" or whatever that was in June 2000, etc. Go back and watch the waning days of WCW and you'll see that slight potential for something interesting. I thought the angle of Goldberg having to repeat his streak to get a shot at Steiner was a great idea. It kept the two apart and allowed for a long term build, which WCW was sorely lacking. Problem is that the company didn't have enough time left. I would assume they rushed through it and had Totally Buff end Goldberg's career earlier than planned since they wanted to get Goldberg back in the title hunt earlier than all that.
-
Yeah well dude David Arquette held that belt at one point, so I don't think Punk is all that worried about living up to some huge recent legacy. That said, I would like to see Jericho/Punk eventually settle in for a 1 on 1 feud in this bizarre title scene with Jericho perhaps getting the belt if nothing else but for a transition title run to either Cena or Batista.

You know, the Adamle thing barely crossed my mind for about 5 seconds when he replaced Cole after Cole was beaten up in the tag match. I couldn't help but think of the movie My Fellow Americans where John Heard played a Dan Quayle type of inept VP, but it turned out that he was a sinister mastermind behind everything. I didn't really put it together though, since Ross came out there and all and it came off like Adamle was so incompetent that they needed a real announcer. This thing could go a couple of ways: 1. Adamle could be the evil mastermind who has been acting like a fool all this time. 2. He could simply be inept and the chaos continues on Raw. Either way I have to give them credit for thinking outside the box on this one and not having Shane make himself the GM like I feared might happen.

Eh, The Rock wasn't really a big draw yet in the Summer of 1998. He was getting there but wasn't quite beyond the IC belt. WCW never really built anything long term though. The Rock was built through most of 1998 and was ready to main event WM the next year, meanwhile Goldberg got a massive push and by March 1999 was already fading.
-
It was a puzzling build and I'm not sure why they did it so early. Goldberg never really even feuded with the NWO in 1998, just kept beating jobbers in the US title division and then voila one night on Thunder Dillon announced he would face Hogan for the title on Nitro. In reality that GA Dome show should be been the start of Goldberg's title push, not the actual title win. There are ways to get the US off him without jobbing him anyway, just have him stripped of the belt for whatever reason. Or maybe have someone in the NWO screw GB out of the US title with a Hogan run in, then GB sets his sights on Hogan. This all pays off at Starrcade of course.
