There Will Be Blood needs to expand to more screens. Daniel Day-Lewis rules in that movie and he should at least win best actor for it, maybe the film will win best picture. I need to see Rambo next weekend. Right now on imdb.com it is getting 8.5, which is pretty insane.

For the record this year's Rumble has to go in the bottom tier of Rumbles. The winner was a friggin surprise entrant (Cena) drawing #30. I'm sorry but I do not want to see guys that are #30 winning the Rumble on a regular basis since it renders the vast majority of the match pointless. Notice that most of the excellent Rumbles have the winner in for quite a while so we can get into the match. Also, it seemed like there were either 1 minute intervals or maybe 90 second intervals rather than 2 minutes. Of course the consensus worst Rumbles also had 1-2 there at the end as well (1995, 99).

WWE General Discussion - January 2008

I can't possibly believe they will seriously do Orton vs. Cena at WM. That match will suck something fierce and they almost need to throw HHH in there for a 3 way to give it some vestige of credibility. I had little interest in HHH/Orton but at least I understood the reasoning behind that. Orton vs. Cena was a shitty feud in August-September and we all know Orton can't win anyway, so there's no point. Why not just have HHH get a shot at No Way Out and beat Orton, then put Orton against Batista at WM? It would lead to HHH vs. Cena II, which isn't really a fresh matchup, but it's still better than this. -
I'd almost consider SummerSlam 1992 to be the last hurrah of that particular era, since it was the last show with Macho/Warrior/Flair and so on in the world title scene. By Survivor Series 1992 the WWF had changed quite a bit. SummerSlam 92 was actually kind of a mix of the old and new.

Former American Gladiator Host Mike Adamle Joins WWE

The dude already made a major miscue at the Rumble tonight calling Jeff Hardy "Jest Harvey" or something like that. -
This was seriously one of the worst Rumbles ever tonight and I say this as someone who is actually going to WM and the idea of Cena vs. Orton in the main event is like some sick joke. Whoever thought of that needs to be forced into watching that match 24/7 in the deepest level of hell. That said, I will make a prediction and say that match won't happen. They have pimped the idea nonstop lately that whoever wins the Rumble simply waltzes into WM and wins the title every year. There's no way Cena is 100%, so it would be easy enough to write him out again with Orton or whoever just attacking him. Or maybe Vince says Cena was never cleared to compete so he's stripped of the title shot. I can't be alone in detesting about 90% of the booking on this show, with Flair/MVP at least being sane booking. Why protect Rey and have Jeff lose clean? That's stupid as shit considering Rey has zero heat right now and Jeff has been over as hell on Raw of late. If they actually do go through with Cena/Orton at WM, I might seriously consider selling my ticket. Hell it's not even really a fresh matchup, though Raw doesn't even have a decent and fresh match so they're basically screwed either way.

It's ridiculous to want someone fired when this wasn't even a highly public tirade and wasn't shown on TV. It's almost like saying "We demand to know what she said that was bad so that we can demand that she be fired!"

I was hoping WVU could pull that one out against Georgetown since that would move U of L into a 1st place tie at 5-2. Of course if U of L hadn't blown it against friggin CINCY this wouldn't be a problem.

I agree about Survivor Series 98, it's not that great wrestling wise but I always like tourney shows and the booking there was probably Russo's best work. And let's not forget the 2nd half of the year 1998 did have the debut of Mr. Socko, UT and Kane breaking Vince's leg, The Rock getting over as a main event level star, and so on. I would mention Mankind's title win but I'm not sure if that counts as 1998 or 99 (it was taped in 1998 but didn't air until Jan. 99). -
I don't see HHH winning this for a few reasons. First, there's already been a leak that at No Way Out there will be an Elimination Chamber for the Raw guys to determine a #1 contender. Second, we have a mystery man for the Rumble out to cost HHH the match. We didn't see this guy on Raw (and I think we are assuming it is Big Show). Anyway I've got UT winning it for lack of a better option.

Pretty cool show tonight but I have mixed feelings on it in HD. I thought it was a bit blurry or pixelated at times, especially during frenetic action. Finlay beating up Khali is an example of this. Maybe this is more notable watching on a 1080p TV set rather than a 1080i set that isn't as advanced?

Yeah it was in the main WWE folder and I believe it was an interview with the Baltimore Sun.

46. He never had to face down a prison inmate who was hell bent on destroying him.

Well, I was referring more to stuff like Karen Angle posting stuff on the net basically whining about RVD busting open her husband. It made Kurt look like such a bitch, at least to me it did.

Kamala, you think Raw was shitty in the 2nd half of 1998? It was probably one of the best times for Raw in history. Now parts of 1999? Yeah you are right, though that stuff is at least fast paced. -
Lushus, I've actually been to Albemarle, NC several times since it isn't too far from where my grandpa lived. That chick last night didn't shock me at all, haha.
-
As in HHH's life story or just one wrestler's views on working with The Game and how he screwed people over backstage? RVD's book would be fabulous since I think he would truly tell all and not just about HHH. In recent interviews he mentioned Jericho's ham fisted attempts at backstage politics during the Invasion era, and I'm sure he'd have plenty to say about Angle from that time as well (not to mention Angle's fiasco of an ECW run in 2006).

The amusing aspect of this is that I find the most well known blaxploitation flicks highly overrated if anything. The only Shaft movie I found above average at all was Shaft's Big Score, while Superfly in the cold light of day sucks aside from its killer soundtrack. I have to wonder why anyone would think Death Proof was a better movie than Planet Terror. It takes a blind Tarantino mark to say this, since Planet Terror is full of action, humor, fun characters, etc. Death Proof has some decent stuff in it (mainly anything with Russell) but whenever it's the various chicks talking it really sucks since none of them are at all sympathetic as characters and aren't interesting either.
-
They did mention it on First Take briefly, but didn't really go into specifics. It was likely just a drunken Michigan alum rant on Notre Dame that got out of hand. It really depends on the context, so I hope there's video somewhere.

Angle's heel turn circa Nov. 2001 was something that made little sense in storyline terms but had to be done. He was totally out of steam as a face by that point. At the time I didn't really mind it since they blatantly did a restart after the Invasion was over and just wanted to put guys back in their normal roles.

The most interesting part of that RVD interview was him mentioning that Jericho was playing backstage politics circa 2001, something that I've wondered about for years. At the time I even remember hearing some vague stuff about Jericho sitting in on booking meetings and generally sucking up in order to get his title run. -
There has to be more going on here than him being pissed about Kristal. Throwing his WWE career away over her is Jerry Lawler circa 2001 level goofy. I think there might be something to that rumor of him being just about 200 lbs. If he showed up on TV looking like that he would embarrass himself worse than Chris Masters when he showed up off the juice.

That's why I say that Hogan should have defended against someone on that Rumble card, then let the Warrior win the Rumble. Then do a confrontation later with Hogan and Warrior. I recall reading somewhere about Hennig originally being booked to win, but that doesn't really work for me since Perfect/Hogan at WM isn't as big of a draw as Hogan/Warrior. As far as 1991 goes, yeah I sorta knew the answer before asking about Knobs. When you watch it though he comes across like the biggest random jobber guy to be THAT late in a Rumble. Did they not have Martel last that long in fear the crowd would root for him due to his longevity in the match?

I think Russo's booking can work if someone reigns in the excess insane shit and edits him. See, the current TNA product is all insanity, all the time....while WWE's style is mostly bland booking done segment by segment. There needs to be some middle ground here with a bit of madness going on but knowing when to pull back and just be a wrestling program. -
Yeah Finlay is interesting right now. Note that he never had any real face turn, it's just that he was already with Hornswoggle when this Vince angle broke. Thing is, what do you do with Finlay once you make him an even bigger heel than before? Edge is already on SD as the top heel, unless they want Finlay to get a run against UT for the title later on.
