  3. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/a...n_damaged_woman Judge: Keep Schiavo Feeding Tube in Place 2 minutes ago U.S. National - AP By MITCH STACY, Associated Press Writer PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - A state judge on Friday temporarily blocked the removal of the feeding tube for severely brain-damaged Terri Schiavo as legal wrangling continued over efforts by congressional Republicans to keep her alive. Pinellas Circuit Court Judge David Demers ordered that the feeding tube remain in place past a 1 p.m. EST deadline while fellow Judge George Greer, who is presiding over the Schiavo case, deals with conflicting legal issues. The Senate Health Committee has requested that Terri Schiavo and her husband, Michael, appear at an official committee hearing on March 28. The Pinellas Park hospice where Schiavo lives received a subpoena late Friday morning, spokeswoman Louise Cleary said. Officials there did not say who was subpoenaed or disclose their next steps. "At this time, we are monitoring developments and consulting with legal and ethical advisers to determine what to do," she said. Michael Schiavo has waged a yearslong court battle with his parents-in-law, contending his 41-year-old wife, who has been in a persistent vegetative state since 1990, would not want to live that way. Courts have cleared the way for him to remove her feeding tube as early as 1 p.m. Friday. The tube has been removed twice in the past and then reinserted as the battle continued. "It is a contempt of Congress to prevent or discourage someone from following the subpoena that's been issued," David Gibbs, the attorney for her parents, said. "What the U.S. Congress is saying is, `We want to see Terri Schiavo.'" "The family is prayerfully excited about their daughter going before the United States Congress for the whole world to see how alive she is." He said that despite her brain damage, she would be able to travel. A statement from the office of Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., on Friday said the purpose of the hearing was to review health care policies and practices relevant to the care of non-ambulatory people. Frist's statement noted that it is a federal crime to harm or obstruct a person called to testify before Congress. Howard Simon, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union (news - web sites)'s Florida office, said his group's attorneys were working with Michael Schiavo's attorneys to determine if the subpoenas would block the scheduled removal of the tube. "This is clearly an effort to circumvent a lawful court order by a state judge," Simon said. "I am not sure how a subpoena, which is ordinarily done to produce records or somebody to testify, can essentially have the effect of an injunction overriding the orders of a court

To be fair though this transformation can probably be blamed on MSNBC execs as much as the anchors themselves, as they have probably figured out that their ratings have gone up while becoming the left's equivelant of Fox News. With the corporate media, it is about ratings and pretty much nothing else.

    Rock Band!

I am sure it might come in handy for At The Gates.... Ok so far I am finding it pretty frustrating using the GH WT drumkit with Rockband, mainly because the way the notes were designed, which is of course not the game makers fault as it was designed for an instrument in which the color pattern is different. It just doesn't translate well because of the difference in design, one four drum pads, and the other being 3 drum pads and 2 elevated cymbals, it just feels unnatural for someone who up till today has been a GH player. As far as the game itself, it is awesome, very nice setlist and a lot of fun. Oh and that universal drum pedal, the "Metal Pedal" is a fucking piece of shit, that doesn't work, first off, you have to basically slam the thing so hard to get it to register a bass drum kick that you feel yer gonna break it. It LOOKS cool, but that is where the fun ends. I'll be better off just having my wife return it or exchanging it for a standard GH WT drum kit 2nd bass pedal, of course the package was opened, so I think the best I can hope for is to trade it in for credit towards a new pedal. Oh and lemme know if I have this correct, the cymbal expansion pack for the Rock Band drum kit doesn't actually "add notes" to the drumming it just gives you the option to either hit the cymbal or the same colored drum pad? It will make a different noise depending on which one you hit, but it isn't actually adding notes, correct? That is what I understood from reading the description on Gamestop. So basically they are just there for show...kinda..

    Rock Band!

My wife picked me up a 2nd bass pedal in anticipation of eventually getting GH Metallica in a week or two, however are there any songs that utilize double bass(I know you can technically use the double bass pedals whenever you want, but I am speaking of songs that call for it) besides the Metallica game available as DLC for either RB or GHWT?

UFN 18 - Condit vs. Kampmann

So this is how the Miller v. Browning fight went.... Rogan: "Browning has really improved since the show, just look at his striking compared to before" Goldberg: "He's working out with Extreme Couture, you can just tell in his footwork how better he is now" Rogan: "Browning, basically called out Miller as being overrated before the fight" *30 seconds later* Miller def Browning via choke Rogan: "Browning has all the upside in the world, he really has a bright future in this sport"

    Guitar Hero: METALLICA

I guess one cool thing about the 2nd bass pedal is once it is plugged in, it works for whenever you want to use it, even if a song doesn't specifically call for double-bass patterns. I wonder if you can use double-bass on WT if you want to. Oh and since Metallica mainly only uses double-bass in small spots of their songs, I wonder if this is a sign we might get some DLC of more extreme metal songs that will utilize double bass even more!!!

What's with the right's sudden insistence that dissent under the guise of free speech be recognized? It was as recent as the a few years ago where they were calling liberals treasonous and terrorist loving apologists because they spoke out against the President's policies, now the coin has flipped and they are suddenly 1st amendment advocates. It's quite hilarious...... Personally I am all for free speech, I just find it highly hypocritical that Obama's in in office for barely a couple of months and the likes of Glen Beck are calling for a "revolution"

    The Republican "Budget"

The Republican budget is just more of the same of the the philiosophy that has ruined our economy with bubbles for the last 30 years, cut the taxes at the top, cut spending everywhere possible, free trade, deregulate everything. Basically, get the wealthy more wealthy so the GDP numbers look great, claim how awesome the economy is even though wages for the working class are dropping, this country is exporting more jobs, etc etc. AKA - NO NEW IDEAS. I love when I watch conservative pundits talking about "you people need to get angry and start a revolution" I mean, I am thinking to myself, umm you dipshit, the country just elected an african-american president, whose rhetoric on the issues is way to the left of anything we've heard in the last thirty years, not to mention two years ago we the democrats a majority in the house and senate. I think the people DID GET ANGRY and they DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT. It's as if the pundits on FOX NEWS forgot that we just had an election where the vast majority of people elected people into this government that disagree with their politics, issues, and economic philiosophy. Wake the fuck up asshole(s)......*staring in Hannity and Beck's direction*

    More Gay Marriage?

One problem also is this debate often turns into religious vs. non-religious, but the only debate should be what legal grounds gay marriage has to stand on. Our constitution trumps anything and everything else in how we make laws, and yes this includes the bible. Equal Protection under the law means just that.

    American Hegemony

Are we talking things like the World Bank and how it is really the American Bank? Throwing out loans to countries they know can never be paid back? That kind of stuff, or am I off the mark?

    More Gay Marriage?

I never understood the "It'll be taught in schools" hysteria anyway. I mean taught in school as opposed to what, being taught to us as we witness it outside on the streets? If Gay Marriage was legal, then I doubt the schools would need to waste time "teaching" about it, because it would be a regular part of life going on in people's community.

    More Gay Marriage?

As far as "gay marriage being taught in schools" go, I am not sure I ever remember "marriage" period being taught in school. Sure it would be referenced in literature, or if a student asked a specific direct question, but I don't remember "marriage" class ever. Also, in what context would we be speaking of as far as the teaching goes, would this be part of sex ed or what? The gay marriage issue seems like one of the last new school vs. old school issues still on the table, the vast majority of young voters(and those who unfortunately don't vote) overwhelmingly support gay marriage, and the older voters don't. It is the old-school trying to hang onto something with it's cold dead hands, and they will pull out every dirty trick in order to stop it. In twenty or so years this will be another issue we look back on as a nation and wonder why it was even illegal in the first place.

    More Gay Marriage?

Good News. And in California most observers really thought it was going to pass this last election if not for the huge funding during the home stretch from the mormon church of all people which some insiders think is Mitt Romney's way of staying relevent for the 2012 election. Polls right now show it passing, along with legalizing marijuana

    Guitar Hero: METALLICA

Sweet. That answered most of my questions. The only question I have left is regarding the drums. Are both Rock Band (2) and GHWT, able to detect which specific drum set you are using, and will it integrate that drum set into the game. For example since I have the GHWT drum set, if I am playing Rock Band 2 with it, will it recognize that I have an extra drum pad and does it utilize that drum pad, or will I just only being using four drum pads when I play Rock Band 2?

    Guitar Hero: METALLICA

Does anyone know if it is too late to take advantage of the free bass pedal when you preorder the game deal? I didn't realize we are only 6 days away..... Also, even there is a second bass pedal, I read that you pretty much don't get to utilize it unless you put the drums on expert level difficulty. If that is true, then I have some practice to do considering I am just starting to able to handle the hard level on about 50% of the songs on World Tour. The only drawback of this game for me is that it is going to pretty much elminate the "group aspect" This will be a GH game I am playing pretty much by myself as it would be hard to convince my wife to "sing" Metallica songs, hahaha..... Is the rumored "GH Jimi Hendrix" still being made? Also, do all the GH instruments work with Rock Band 2? I heard initially there were some problems with compadibility, but everything should work now, True?
