Yeah. My best friend who joined the Marines in 1998 is black. When I met him in '94, and until he went to boot camp, he had long jerry curls (like gangsta style) and he jsut looked "blacker" than black. But when he spoke, he sounded white. If someone were to speak to him on the phone, they'd think he was white. He did a lot of things that were perceived to be white in origin. Such as reading comic books, getting into video games, watching sci-fi, etc. Most of his girls were white, although his baby's mother was black. Once, while his uncle was drunk and trying to commandeer the house of the recently-passing grandmother, and my friend tackled him and began punching him, the uncle said, "Get off of me, you devil lover!" But despite all of these so-called "white" attributes, he was still proud to be black. There is a lot of peer pressure involved in doing the things that BL mentioned.

Also, it was supposed to be something like Obi-Wan being arrogant about his training abilities and training Anakin. Some of that is seen in TPM when Obi-Wan goes before the council (I WILL train him.) But the council approves this, so yeah, it is kind of goofy... <<"Told you so" thing>> And although even Obi-Wan himself doesn't know it (or Yoda for that mattter), Anakin turning to the dark side is the right thing.

They could have made R2 red or some other color in the prequels. That way Obi-Wan wouldn't recognize him in blue... Get ready for the prequel special editions...

What about in the 90's when I was in high school and people were crying about national debt? Oh yeah...we paid it down when Clinton cut defense and intelligence (?) spending. The deficit *not debt* went down significantly because of the economy's growth, not Clinton's cuts. The debt, well, really didn't change that much. They taught us differently in college. That was before the mainstream advent of the internet. Makes perfect sense.

Is Bush really that polarizing? If you think so, tell us why. And I think that stuff like this stamp will lead to some kind of civil war by 2025. And it isn't Bush or neoconservatives who will cause it...it's guys like Dean who claim to "hate" Republicans and call them evil. It'd be like having Coulter as our party leader.

And you should take advice from me because chances are that I'm more successful than you are. If people would worry about taking care of their own stuff and stop losing sleep over how "robust" the economy is, then I think we'd do a lot better. Leave worrying about the economy to geniuses like Sowell.

I'm pretty much the same way. You need to know enough English so that you don't put other in danger (example: can't read signs on an Interstate). However, I think it should be mandatory that any chinese take-out restaurant should have a clear English-speaking person answering the phones... The old Chinese restaurant we used to go to when I was a kid had a microphone next to the register. You'd tell the person what you wanted and they'd YELL into the mic. It would go like this: "I'd like...pork fried rice." "PORK FRIED RICE!" "...prawns..." "PRAWNS!"

I've learned that sometimes it's that they PRETEND not to understand English, you know, so you can't tell them to do something. I love the looks on their faces when I say something like, "Ponga esos cajas en aquella paleta."

It's living under a collectivistic, dictatorial regime. The inhabitants of these "western" towns probably receive free rice cookers...

And do we really give a flying fuck whether or not the economy is "robust?" I just want to keep as much of my money as I can. You know, so I can enjoy what I earn? Paying less makes (sane) people happy. That article smells of incense. It's like saying, "Well, shit, eating a little less doesn't make you starve! So eat less, even if you really want to eat more!" It's a rationalization for getting the funding for hippie programs.

The liberal agenda. WE CAN'T ACCUSE THEM! IT'S DISCRIMINATION! There have been people who were deported and they'd return with different names. Other people would point this out to the ever useless HR department, and they'd say "they will look into it." There are action groups out there that won't let you just fire someone without going through channels to find the identity of the person in question. Most of the time they have Spanish names, but other times you will get a Mexican person with the last name "Phillipson." Uh... And I "identify" the illegals because they tell me that they are illegal.
