Is it me, or does Tanaka not really scream ECW? He came in to feud with Awesome and worked goofy hardcore matches where you no sell chair shots that in WWE would be a 100 count. Did he ever work for ECW in years past before the Awesome thing? Now that Credible and Mamaluke are in, they MUST book Impact Players vs. FBI.

Great ideas and comments all around. I guess it should die. I just like the idea of a pimp stable. And the song rocks.

Matt Hardy speaks on he and Lita splitting

Along the same lines, explain why you'd be interested in why someone would research Heat ratings. If you can do so, then I'll tell you. I just thought that looking up something like HeAT ratings was pretty ridiculous, and wondered if there was a specific reason. We were talking about Raw and Nitro's ratings and how nobody every mentioned the Smackdown and Thunder ratings. Or Heat for that matter. So we just looked it up to see if there was a pattern. Throughout '99, Heat was consistently drawing better numbers than Raw does today. -

That was random. The original post was "Some people have too much time on their hands." I can only assume a mod edited it. Probably HTQ, as he may have taken your comment as a jab at his interest in the Meltzer article. I took your comment as a jab at me for what I posted. Not a big deal, that's just what I took it as. -

Weird factoid. I was researching Heat ratings and noticed a lot of Edge wins. I wanted to see if he was undefeated on Heat in singles matches, so I quickly went through the results. Ironically, only two men beat Edge on Heat in a singles match. The first was Matt Hardy. The second was Booker T during the invasion angle. -

Someone called Meltzer on this at the Wrestling Classics Board. He had at least a dozen quotes and reviews from old Observers where Meltzer was just KILLING Backlund. Dave's response was a rather weak "Uhhh, I changed my mind, a lot of people change their mind." I find it hard to believe someone could go from openly mocking a worker to saying "he clearly was a huge star in his day" and was "underrated" As least he gave an answer. I e-mailed him, posted on the WO site comment board, and on the amazon.com page for Tributes II the very simple question of why he left out Mike "Crash Holly" Lockwood from his book after complaining about WWE not acknowledging the death on TV (they did eventually). Never got an answer on any of the three venues. So one night I come home from work and there is an opened manilla folder on the couch. My wife had opened it. It was a copy of Tributes II. I thought "Wow, Dave must have appreciated the question." But no...it's from an executive at the publishing house. There was a business card taped to the front with a note on back how he enjoyed my review on amazon and he thought I'd enjoy a free copy. I e-mailed him to thank him and asked him if he knew why Crash wasn't included. He replied to me that it wasn't Dave's so much as an editorial decision. He said if there is a Tributes III, Crash will definitely be in it. -
Don't forget that's how they got Star Trek, too. Paramount is a Viacom family member, too. And yeah, WWE sure has fallen over the years: Raw Ratings History The TNN debut was on 9/25/00.

Not only that, but he has the best clothes. Also, and it seems like this has been mentioned before, but doesn't London's music sound derivative of Warrior's? What's next, face paint? EDIT: I have determined that it's an amalgam of Rockers' and Warrior's music.

Not that I want to get in the middle of this, but I think you misunderstood him. I took it as saying, not advertising on wrestling because of stereotype that wrestling fans are ignorant would be like not advertising on NBA games because the stereotype of blacks is that they are poor...i.e. just like not all blacks are poor, not all wrestling fansare ignorant...It was poorly worded, though. No, no, thanks for getting in the middle of this. It was somewhat poorly worded, but the way I read it, it's still clear that I was drawing an analogy. I think the operative words were "It's like..." Now that we have everything clear, I will graciously forgive the ad hominem directed toward me, while noting that there was no ambiguity in its use.

Dave needs to hire a copy editor. I've always said it. -
That moron Hemme sure isn't doing WWE's (and its fans') image any good.

Is this on the tape? Danny Bonaduce (Danny Partridge) beat Christopher Knight (Peter Brady). Why no, it's not. *Heads to Suncoast for an immediate refund.* Grrumph. How dare WCW hold down Brady in favor of that old fart. Danny is a legit badass...well, in terms of fighting other celebs. He is a black belt in one or more martial arts. He also beat Barry Williams (Greg Brady) at the first Celebrity Boxing event. Taking out the Brady family...one by one!

It was a slow count. Sting was supposed to look screwed by a fast count, but Patrick did a slow count to make the win look legitimate, remember? Bret came out and acted like Sting got kayfabe screwed anyway (ironically, he was legitimately screwed.) Hell, for all we know, this could be a worked-shoot angle to make it look like Sting REALLY got screwed. Is this on the tape? Danny Bonaduce (Danny Partridge) beat Christopher Knight (Peter Brady). I taped it. I remember it being good, aside from the four-way dance ME. I am not big on those or triple threats. And this: Scotty Riggs pinned Mikey Whipwreck (7:03). Nothing like a surprise Riggs match.

<<We purchase video games, CD's, DVD's, books and go to the movies. We eat fast food, have the occassional bout with erectile disfunction, drink alcohol, surf the net, buy homes, need car insurance and all of that.>> Aside from the erectile thing, I've done all that within the last two months. And I grew up on wrestling. It's like not buying ad time during NBA games because blacks watch NBA, and they are poor... I remember back in the day, at the end of Superstars, we'd get Glade Litter Fresh and Slim Jim plugs. We're hicks living with fifteen cats and eatin' our beef jerky!

He also called Dibiase an SOB at WMIV. "I'm laying out a challenge to either Bret, or that Jap, brother!" - Hogan at WM9 "That was THREE, you asshole!" - Heenan, to Marella, at WM3 after Andre fell on Hogan right at the beginning of the match Heh, every time Marella was reffing a match at Mania, Jesse would call him an idiot and say stuff like "Who IS this guy?!" Jesse did that becuase Marella was Gorilla Monsoons real life son. So he was bascially ribbing Gorilla with that. WOW! REALLY? -
This unintentional best of seven series is what Cena/Booker should have been. I swear, if this match is good, London is going to be my favorite current star. Even more than Batista. If the match isn't as good as the previous one, and he wears the crazy outfit, he will still be.

I wish the media elite could explain how dumb rednecks can afford $500 tickets to Wrestlemania. Damn, I love being a wrestling fan. Also, as I mentioned before, I highly doubt Vince would play this Trump card with Spike unless he had an ace in the hole in the form of a clandestine USA offer.

Steph looked fucking great at WMX8. During the boring ME, I entertained myself by staring at her large breasts and imagining the enjoyment I'd get from tittyfucking her while she sneered at me with that sneer she has. I'd rather see Steph in Playboy, due to the fact that I am happy with the dozens of hot bikini and lingerie pics of Trish that are all over the net. But who would sell more? That's hard to say. If WWE fans were responsible for the other WWF/E women selling bigtime, then it could go either way. As for non-wrestling fans, would they buy it to see who they'd think was just another blonde with bigguns, or would they buy it to see Vince McMahon's daughter naked?

I never found arguments that they were better off on USA to be that convincing. Neither do I, but USA is associated with the glory days and Crazy Vince insists that they lost a good chunk of their audience who didn't have/didn't know about TNN. The fact that this opens up the possibility of TNA going head to head and rekindling the Monday Night Wars really makes me excited. I just hope Spike still wants wrestling and TNA is capable of getting a deal done...both are questionable... If TNA could get on Spike, which odds aren't in their favor, and get PAID to air the show...that can only be a good sign for wrestling. If they can keep the TNA IMPACT show, that is just double the positives for all sides. As for RAW, does this mean USA Network has outbid Spike or that Spike just didn't have interest in giving the WWE an increase in money to sign a new deal? Cause what happens to the WWE if USA NETWORK announces they have no interest in the World Wrestling Entertainment? I don't feel like reading every single post in this thread, so I don't know if this angle's been covered yet, so here it is. WWE wouldn't let negotiations end like this unless they had an ace in the hole. Even if they don't have an ace in the hole, they will relent and stay on Spike if USA doesn't have a better offer. As for a new Monday Night War, TNA is populated with a lot of ex-WCW guys. "WCW sux," remember? Maybe if they pulled JJ and pushed someone like Styles and other newer faces, it'd catch on. But if they keep it as it is, people will just look at it as a subpar show. And least in my opinion.

Mine does. Oh, and this story screams "please give us our own reality show, MTV! Brooke needs the exposure!" They already have a show on VH1, debuting in the Spring. Look for this story to shown on the show. -
Ha. I am watching WM7 and Warlord put the nelson in BB and he said: "I don't think he has the fingers locked!" Ha! He repeated it! And then he said "They're separated!"
