Could kayfabe work in this day and age...
Lord of The Curry replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
That's why they're probably going to work the "reluctant partner" angle w/ Cena. They can show him talking to Angle and Benoit about how he's not in this match to be a member of Team Angle, he's in it for revenge against the guys who took him out. Then, gradually, Cena learns the meaning of teamwork and ends up getting the respect of Angle and Benoit. -
*drops to the ground, selling unknown knee injury. sucks in breath* Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. *sucks in breath* Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Family Guy owns. Stewie = Your God.

Could kayfabe work in this day and age...
Lord of The Curry replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
Assuming that the internet and technology progressed at the rate it dead-no. Kayfabe would be dead. There have been "smarks" in pro wrestling since time began. Back then, they were just guys who were more wise to the scene then most of the "marks." It would've evolved eventually and along with the growing internet, there's no way that it coulda lasted. -
Watched it the other night and I was very, very impressed with what I saw. One of the better films of the year, IMO. I really liked how it didn't need the best effects (though they weren't bad) or really cool CGI to tell a great story. I don't like horror movies, but I like this movie and I think it's in part due to the largely dramatic feeling this movie has. The camerawork and cinematography were first rate, particularly those shots of downtown London, empty. The "Infected" were done well, the makeup wasn't too off-the-wall and gave the virus a very realistic feel. The way they moved was very creepy, as it was zombie-ish but still enough to establish some humanity. The great camera angles add to the mix. So, anybody else see it? Thoughts?

Agreed. I don't know if he'll be any good by the time Mania rolls around, but there's no fucking way that the guy can get "WrestleMania 20 Main Event" good that quick.

Spoiler (Highlight to Read): I'm not sure about this, but I think the whole "One cannnot exist without the other" thing has something to do w/ it.

I really, really liked this movie. Very open-ended, which IMO was a smart move, being that everybody had already organized 500 theories about the ending of this movie. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): The religious metaphor tied in well. Neo was the seventh "one", but in the end he was The One. There are seven signs of the cross in the bible and the world was created in seven days. The difference, is that now, the people of the Matrix are given choice, something that was restricted before. - Neo told Smith that he "made the choice" to fight. - Trinity choosing to go w/ Neo, knowing full well she'd probably die. - Neo choosing to sacrifice himself in order to dispose of Smith. I also dug - The fight for Zion was one of the most intense 25 minutes in the theater since Helms Deep. Great, great action. - Agent Smith. Kept limited, but made every fucking second of screen time count. His rant on compassoin and love was brilliance, as was the scene with the new Oracle. - The emotional impact of the movie was far, far greater then Reloaded. I BELIEVED them when they said that Zion might make it, I BELIEVED Neo when he talked about his sacrifice. Sure, the dialogue got a bit cheesy and the downplaying of Morpheus and the Marovingian sucked but on the whole I'm very happy with this movie. Oh, and Monica Bellucci is a Godess. Dem's some titties.

I'm diggin' the new sig, Never.

Benoit's a better mic worker then Angle. Ya know why? Because he stays within the realm of his character and doesn't go off-topic. Benoits promos are short, simple and to-the-point. No head bobbing, no stupid references, no screwing up words and no weird vocal variances like Angle has.

I guess, unlike you, certain people aren't able to see SD before it airs or perhaps they don't want to read any spoilers. -
Ok, this game just got upgraded to "Fuck it" status. The beggining levels on easy are equal to anything you've found in the later stages of TTT on hard. Until somebody finds me an invincibility code, this game ain't happening.

Cena over Benoit and Guerrero? They should stop polling people with down syndrome.

Sakura was one of the few people in the WWE folder who had common sense. Whoever banned her just took the boards IQ level down another notch.

Ric Flair: Greatest worker, wrestler...

Kawada can be very animate when the situation calls for it. For instance in the heated six man tags against Jumbo co., Kawada would do stuff like flip Jumbo off while torturing his protege, Taue, with a Scorpion Deathlock. And Flair begging off, and strutting doesn't make me quiver either. It makes me chuckle though. Jumbo, Hansen, and what not all have their trademark taunts as well. In fact: Jumbo's arm raise>Flair's "whoo". See the crowd in Jumbo's 10/91 match against Kawada for one of the most surreal taunt responses off all time. Every one in the entire building is standing, and pumping their arm in the air with Jumbo. I'm not even gonna bother to get into guys like Lyger, who outclass Flair in the mannerism department so bad that it's not even funny. As far as speaking skills goes, Hokuto totally kills Flair in ever department(except maybe humor), and I don't even understand what she's saying. See her "promos" leading up and after the Kandori match for some very powerful stuff. And Kawada shed actual tears during his interview after his last match with Kobashi/Kikuchi as his teammates. Or how about the look on his face when realizes he lost 6/3/94. Such a hearbreaking moment, that connected with me more than anything Flair ever did. In his 96 match with Black Tiger(Eddy), with smart work and excellent timing, Beniot gets killer heel heat from a crowd that is normally dead during junior matches. I've never seen Flair control the crowd as well as Eddy and Beniot did that night. So it's not sick and wrong, it at times is absolutely correct. Game.Set.Match. -
WWE.com has Show/Lesnar vs Benoit/Angle down for Smackdown, as well as Eddy Guerrero taking on the Bashams by himself for the Tag Championships. Expect Eddy to loose this one and Chavo to come down the ring, berate Eddy and probably turn. On a related note, the poll on WWE.com is whether or not Farooq can make it to S.S w/ his "broken ankle" so expect Cena to be the replacement (as if you hadn't already figured out). So, tag match booking says that Benoit vs Lesnar gets established at some point in this match. Benoit get a tapout? Maybe. Brock should C2W at S.S to further the feud and it makes Benoit look like a very feared guy.
