You don't really mean that. One can make an argument for "About A Girl"...but why? Bleach lies in the same area as Nevermind for me - I like the songs, albeit a less percentage of them, but I really don't like the album versions. Give me the "About A Girl" from Unplugged in New York and "School" & "Negative Creep" from Wishkah and I'm good. ...now that I think about it, that's how I feel about all of their studio albums, except for In Utero. "Aneurysm" is the only track I like off of Incesticide and I can't really even stand the album version.

I googled all over the 'net, but I couldn't find any RPGs with Jason White in them...so fresh out of luck there. You want something really crazy, go take Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne for a drive. It's a continuation of the Persona series, with turn-based modern-day occult silliness that you might latch onto.

You know, they're 10-1 and, on paper, they're a great matchup for anybody...but it's hard to really endorse the Eagles as a hands-down winner for any game, given their propensity for chokery at the most inopportune time. They're just one TO/McNabb sideline blowup from being right back where they've been the last four years.

Sometimes, I wonder if there's a bootleg of Nevermind masters just floating around on the internet, waiting for production that doesn't involve 100 gallons of industry gloss.

Awesome. Thanks for the info.

I noticed a while back in wrestling news that Ricky Steamboat was backstage at Raw. Now there's a lot of rumblings about Steamboat, should he decide to come on board with the WWE as an agent, possibly reduxing this "purist v. hardcore" feud that he's running with Mick Foley in RoH right now. I, of course, don't have a single clue about this feud but, given the premise and the people involved, I definitely want to learn. What shows or matches should I check out?

So the playoffs are this week. I'm seventh in the standings, but sixth in points scored. I'm guessing I'm on the outside, looking in?

EDIT: Nevermind, wasn't paying attention.

Heard "Numb / Encore" for the first time on the way to work this morning. Jay's rhymes still shine through the monotonous techno-drek but, once the song hits the climax (a.k.a Linkin Park's entry), all hope is officially lost. Just listen to the Grey Album.

Eh. As far as the Meat Puppet covers go, Nirvana's Unplugged versions are far more palatable and radio friendly and, thus, easier to listen to. Then again, I heard the Nirvana versions first, rendering the originals ("Lake of Fire" especially) as more of a hilarious curiosity than anything else. And I like the songs on Nevermind but, other than "In Bloom", I prefer their non-Nevermind incarnations. The Wishkah version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is a good example of this.

What's the story on keeper rules (and playoff rules, for that matter) in the COSG.net league that's also a part of this thread?

I'm from St. Louis and I can't even stand the Rams. Or, more specifically, Mike Martz.

I like the Dynasty, myself.

Are you trying to play burned CDs (CD-Rs) or actual music CDs? One thing to check out. Go into My Computer - if it takes a long time to show all of the drives, then there could be an issue with your CD drive recognizing the CD (it's stalling out on the autoplay).

Are you getting any particular error/crash messages when these programs come up, or are they just hanging without ever coming up?

They're probably busy showing different travel brochures to Sammy Sosa. The real beneficiaries of the Benson deal are the actual good pitchers on the market, as guys like Radke, Clement, and Perez can all point to Benson's contract and grin.
-
Good lord. Benson at $7.5 million a year? Minaya had an opportunity to wash away the egregious mistakes of the past management but, instead, he's just repeating them. As far as the Guillen deal goes, I'm a little surprised that they sent Juan Rivera, who was only a few points down in OPS from Guillen (and 26 years old to boot). Of course, playing time in an outfield with Guillen would have been hard to come by (with Wilkerson, Terrmel Sledge, Guillen, and maybe even Ryan Church butting in), so Rivera was probably a little more expendable than he appeared at first glance.

The Marine who shot dead an injured man

This dude is awesome. The comment about "firing from Sanctuary" is an interesting point, though. Overall, a great perspective from a guy who's obviously been there. -
You could always FTP into mozilla.org and grab Firefox 1.0 that way - here's the directory you're looking for (log in as anonymous, no password): ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.0/win32/en-US/

ABC apologizes for steamy Monday Night intro

Agreed. After seeing the clip again, Nicole looks eerily like Sable. Which made my little buddy wilt in pain. Is the clip available online anywhere? Is nobody going to address the real issues? -
If you ditched the scores to the different categories at the end, then yeah, something like that is in the area that I'm talking about. Of course, my personal bias says that everybody should follow how I wrote video game reviews when I wrote for 411.
-
The reason I don't agree with short and sweet reviews for video games is that just giving a thumbs up or down recommendation is ok for a movie, but a video game is a much bigger investment. If something costs 50 bucks, you should spend a few pages critiquing it. I wasn't suggesting that the reviews be short and sweet - I was saying that they should critique the entire product as a whole and then give a simple recommendation. They should certainly evaluate the game at length.
-
I tend to agree. Even though Percival is actually taking a pay cut (he was on the Angels' tab for $7.8 million last year), it's not enough of a cut for a guy whose strikeout rate has been diving at an alarming rate. I think he would have been a tremendous setup man, as mentioned earlier, though it'd be insane to think that any team - even the Yankees - would hand a middle reliever a $6 million/year deal. As far as the market correction goes, I fear that, when the Giants stupidly handed Vizquel that absurd three-year deal, they might have set the pace for this year to be a big money market.
-
I think I'd contend otherwise, given Castilla's abysmal career home/road splits and Christian Guzman's struggles to get on base 30% of the time. Guzman's young (he'll reach that magic age-27 season next year), so I like the contract length, but great defense and little else shouldn't be worth $4.2 million a year.

Why not.
