OaO Non spoiler ECW Thread 9/4

That's funny, I thought it was because RVD got busted with pot and had to give up two titles in consecutive days.

OaO Non spoiler ECW Thread 9/4

Call me crazy, but in that great match, Morrison was >> Punk (and i'm a punk mark). REALLY impressed by Morrison in that match (both moves and psychology in the match). Maybe I'm an idiot, but i really like the John Morrison gimmick, too (he just, as usual, needs to work on his delivery). I hope he comes back in the same gimmick post-roid suspension.

Anyone else find it odd that Congress et al. aren't going after professional bodybuilders like Jay Cutler, Ronnie Coleman, etc. who eat oodles and oodles of steroids...blatantly? I'd love for Gov. Schwarzengger to take a stand against roids.

ECW/Smackdown Spoilers for the 9/4 and 9/7 airings

Smart move: Dykstra goes to the back "in search of Palumbo" while the bike is fixed; when it is, he hauls out to the ring in it and Dykstra has to comically dash from the locker room to the ring to make the match and avoid a countout. WWE decision: Dykstra wins by forfeit, and then just have a completely separate match between the two for no apparent reason. I believe Dykstra and Victoria were in the middle of the ring, Palumbo's music hit but no palumbo, and then Dykstra ad-libbed that no one wanted to face him he was so good and then announced himself winner by forfeit. Pretty decent ad-libbing on his part, given the situation.

ECW/Smackdown Spoilers for the 9/4 and 9/7 airings

These words were never truer. Anyways, Batista gets ADDED in to the championship match at Unforgiven? He's be "rewarded' for being on the list? Punk finally getting the title at a non PPV is unsatisfying to a large extent.

I do find it amusing that this upcoming TAPED Raw+ Smackdown will actually probably give the WWE Nielson rating numbers than it has in a little while purely b/c most of its main talent WON'T be appearing.

Cena's a fitness nut, and I would guess, not a steroid user. Anymore. Go find some pictures of him as The Prototype in UPW. That was when he was 'roiding. Honestly, he really isn't roid-ripped. Of course, neither are some of the stars on the list, but I assume they are pain-killer abusers, especially Regal. I honestly don't think he was roiding then. He had the diet to keep up all that muscle mass (20lbs of steak a week? and that was just part of his diet? insane.) But yeah, Cena just has no body fat which makes him look more muscular. I will never say for sure but I doubt the guy is taking anything. Cena may not roiding now, but he couldn't have achieved the body he has without having done steroids in the past. It's easier to maintain muscle that you developed initially on roids (and now are off of it) than building that amount of muscle without roids ever in the first place. By a long shot. Heck, look at how much muscle Bonds still has at his age; he has to be off roids/HGH since Game of Shadows or he'd be the stupidest person in the world (ie, if someone (dealer) ratted him out with proof that he was still on it today, he'd be screwed even more publicly and in jail).

Steroids DO NOT BUILD MUSCLE MASS!!! This is one of those fallacies I really hate. What steroids do is keep your muscles from developing an enzyme (I don't remember what its called at the moment) that causes pain when you're physically working them. Basically it allows you to work out harder and faster without succumbing to the ill effects of doing so. They do not build muscle mass if you don't use them for such. Thousands of Americans regularly use them as anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers, and prescription pain relievers. Corticosteroids and glucocorticoids, which are the "anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers, and prescription pain relievers" that you talk of, are COMPLETELY different from HGH and anabolic steroids. Obviously, you have to lift to make crazy looking muscles on roids, but you can't build that muscle mass without the extra testosterone/dehydroepitestoterone, etc. that roids give you. Even if you didn't feel pain (like substance P as somehow completely inhibited), you wouldn't be able to make that amount of muscle mass (or gain more than 15 lbs of muscle, at most, in a year). Steroids help you recover faster and work out longer, but they certainly help you build (give your muscles the anabolic "fuel" ) muscle mass. i know this b/c i prescribe these anitinflammatories/prescription pain killers, and muscle relaxers in my practice.

Well, that's a lie. There certainly is a BLOOD test to detect HGH, just not a urine test yet. Actually, there isnt any test around to do so, apparently. http://www.wada-ama.org/en/dynamic.ch2?pageCategory.id=627

Anyone else wondering why Rey just doesn't get them in Mexico? Literally can get them 5 minutes from his home in the 619 by crossing the border.

Jerry is abad move, but really, WTF did Spike ever bring to TNA (or WWE) for that matter? He was great in ECW though.

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

Can't wait to see "The History of TNA: Year 1", for many of the reasons that have been discussed here recently. The first year was probably TNA's best year. TNA started going downhill after Raven lost to Jeff Jarrett in the "biggest match in TNA history" at the time. Made me tune out and realize that TNA is just the SOS as 2000 WCW was, but on a smaller scale.

OAO TNA: Hard Justice PPV Thread

Mike Tyson made money for the WWF when he was brought in. So far, Pacman has caused TNA to lose money. (Well, MORE money.) Negative attention is no good if it doesn't cause more people to watch. Yeah, but it's a calculated risk. Pacman has the POTENTIAL to bring in non-wrestling fans as viewers (hence the investment in him) as opposed to paying Lance Hoyt for a PPV, who you KNOW will lose you money.

OAO TNA: Hard Justice PPV Thread

Negative attention. The ratings went down. I'm not saying Hoyt is anything special, he's basically Test with a moonsault, but I find it awesomely double-standardy that TNA claims it's too poor to pay Christy Hemme and friggin' Hoyt while they hand over ever-increasing piles of cash to guys like Angle and Jones who don't make that money back for the company. I understand what you're saying, but even "negative" attention (as long as it's not Benoit type attention) is good if it's on a national level (ESPN,CNN,headline news, MSNBC, which it has all been mentioned on), esp. for a small company like TNA. I equate this to when the WWE brought in convicted rapist Mike Tyson in. It brought attention to the company. EDIT: Zack made the tyson point a copule of posts above. Guess i should read all the posts first.

OAO TNA: Hard Justice PPV Thread

I totally agree with almost every anti-TNA comment in this thread, but this is a silly point. Pacman Jones in one week brought more attention to TNA than Lance Hoyt ever has in how many years? It's stupid on one level since he's never going to be a real wrestler, but no one is ever going to turn into a PPV b/c of Lance Hoyt...not even his mother.
  21. How was that shocking when they built to it for 3+ months? Booker vs HHH. I agree. Pretty shocking that they had the "racist" antagonist go over in the "racist" angle...cleanly. Even if it was HHH and all. I guess white people are inherently better.

    OaO ECW on Sci-Fi 7/17

Wins. Goldust and Vis have always been talented and Mark Henry has been since about '04. Anyways. Bid Daddy V needs to start splashing motherfuckers through tables with fork in hand like now. I agree. Goldust is not only decent in the ring, he's one of the most entertaining characters of all time, IMO. The most ironic thing is that Dustin Runnels plays the character Goldust so much more believably/convincingly than he has ever played himself (Dustin Runnels) as a wrestler. Almost the complete opposite of the typical character that works (your normal self just amped up, ala Austin)....UNLESS..

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

Hydrocodone = Vicodin. Not to be a hard ass, but since I prescribe this stuff, vicodin is actually a combination of tylenol (500 mg) and hydrocodone (5 mg)

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

Hydrocodone, or more commonly known as Lortab, is a narcotic that is a pain supressor; it is less potent/powerful than say, oxycodone, but a bit more better at supressing pain than say tylenol/codeine. It is controlled and can be abused, but has much less abuse potential than oxycodone (or longer acting oxycontin).
