    WWE rebounding from WM 23

I respectfully disagree. Especially the Mania match; ten times better than the main event.

What would it take to make you interested in the WWE again

It only means something if it's a clean win, though.

This and I am REALLY turned off by the cookie cutter planning of matches with heels. Other than an Umaga or Khali, EVERY heel has to cheat to win, esp. if it's a title match (which of course, Khali and Umaga job out in anyways). Obviously cheating is the easiest way to build a heel, but why can't Edge be cocky/worries, by win at least some of his title matches in a non-heel way. Cena's major problem now is that he makes every wrestler look inferior booking-wise, even to the point that even when the heels cheat big-time, they still lose...every time. Give me a heel that just dominates, but talks heelishly, and i could get back into it. But with the run-ins and KNOWING that all the heels will lose, often even if they do cheat, is boring.

WWE General Discussion for July 2007

I think Johnny Nitro is mic skills away from being a mega star. Too bad Paul Heyman is not around any more to work with him. There are dollars to be made with Nitro. Nitro also needs a better gimmick. This "Hollywood A-lister" crap just smacks of midcardiness. Amen to that. He's a decent worker and many have said he deserves a push but man his gimmick simply sucks and is about as boring as it can get. The gimmick was fine, especially in light of how much attention/play in the mainstream media "stars" like Paris Hilton/Lohan/Spears get. Ahving a "cocky" wrestler has always been gold for a heel. The gimmick fizzled when A) he was depushed (sec. to Melina's backstage issues?) B) His was separated from his posse (Mercury b/c drugs and Melina). Obviously he needs improvment on the mike, but I enjoy his offense which is often unique, at least in the WWE. Heavyweight champ may be a little too much too fast, but he was really good as IC champ until he was made a whipping boy for a returning bloated Jeff Hardy.

I'd aim that stereotype at casual fans - as I myself would rather watch a Steve Corino or a CW Anderson anyday over Bobby Lashley or Batista. While I'm positive that the casual fans and their money influence what Vince pushes in some effect.. we all know that what Vince wants to get pushed, gets pushed, even if the fans DON'T like it. Problem is, the casual fans far outweigh the smarks like us, both in number and in $$$ spent (esp. kids) on WWE stuff.

This is quite a leap to make without really actually knowing anything about the Benoit family home/situation previously. Somewhat ironic her name is Rambo though.

This is why it's kinda silly to think Congress will step in here. While one might think a politician looking to get easy notoriety might go after the WWE, the truth is is that is indeed entertainment, and not a real sport. In fact, I guarantee if Baseball wasn't the favorite sport growing up of alot of those Congressmen who called the baseball hearings in Congress, nothing would have ever been done. There are MANY people doing steroids/HGH in entertainment fields, especially movies (Stallone and those guys in the movie 300 just to name a few). Congress isn't going to go after them, or after the music industry where many musicians die of overdoses/drugs too (and a few murders as well). The huge blow to the WWE will not be from Congress, but rather the Advertisers who pull their Ads off of the TV stations that have WWE programming. This is potentially a HUGE loss of $$$ for stations (kind of like the Imus thing) where these stations may be forced to kick off wrestling off it's network b/c of media pressure. Wow, in retrospect, I wonder if Vince could have ever thought the signing of the "Radicals" would be ultimately end up being the worst decision in his life that would have the most effect on his company (possibly). Anyone know how much WWE stock has dropped since this Benoit thing started?

Let me guess...he thinks Booker T did it with help from Cryme Time.

Based on Daniel's appearance and the sheer number of people who have stated how Daniel's behavior/development was (other wrestlers like Jericho and people who apparently reached out to the Benoits and vice versa this week in regards to Daniel and his apparent condition), I find it really hard to believe he didn't have a disease that caused him mental retardation /delayed development. But really, a simple karyotype would diagnose this in no time flat.

So....what was wrong with him according to them? According to them, nothing. And they claim to have spent a lot of time with the boy so it's not like their going by a once a year visit or anything. I think it's fairly certain, given the large head, low set ears, and by all other accounts, impairment of social interaction of this child(as well as poor language development) , that he did indeed have an inherited disorder. Perhaps they visited twice a year?

Suicide isn't selfish. Killing everyone around you because of your own issues is selfish. Suicide itself just means that you couldn't cope with an aspect of life on some level, ie , you're just very mentally distraught. If anything, people who think this way are selfish, since everyone should be able to determine.make their own decisions about their own life/body in the end. Chris stepped over the line only b/c A) He killed two people, and B) Suicide, since he had sons still living.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that there's zero chance of this, let alone any mention of Benoit's name ever again on WWE TV. But don't feel bad, the Hall of Fame is fake/not real anyways.

Gotta love how Glenn Beck has a sports psychologist commentating on the mindset of someone who is being possibly domestically abused.

She and Colin Cowherd would make a great couple, without the amount of just plain untruths and lack of knowledge they broadcast daily to a nation wide audience.

Well, if this arguing about his child's care was true, it makes me feel just a tiny bit better. It makes me think he maybe just snapped as opposed to being much more cold-blooded than it appears. Obviously not justifiable in any sense, but I don't think you can relate to being a parent of individual with mental retardation or one who is disabled and either needs 24 hr care or who's future is so uncertain, unless you are one. People all the time say they don't know what they'd do if something happened to their child, so maybe it's on the level of this where he snapped in the heat of the moment. I'm buying the killing of his son as his rationilization that he didn't want people taking care of him that didn't care about him (since he would be in jail) or possibly not well (PURELY speculation on my part). Course, doesn't explain the tieing up of Nancy.

Obviously it's enormous in our (wrestling) community, but I am still surprised that three days after we find out Benoit + family is dead, that it is the top story on CNN's homepage still...though I wonder if it would be without the steroids angle.

Just an assumption, but I doubt many would attend the funeral. Perhaps Chavo, Dean and a few others. Edge, I bet.

Great interview with Booker, thanks! Am surprised that Vince hasn't put the Kabosh on interviews with his wrestlers so he can micromanage the situation a little/PR control. I think Booker articulated everything really well, especially the whole breaking point stuff. Makes me realize how much this reaction on this board has been a psychological splitting defens emchanism: Everything's either Benoit's all good and he could do no bad (early on) and now with the truth of the murders, Benoit is all bad/all evil who is and always was scum. Truly brings into question whether a man is judged by a lifetime of deeds (both good and bad)or just his worst deed.
