  1. How many times is a team going to lose in this tourney because they don't stop the ball on this kind of situation? I can think of Pitt here, Illinois and maybe one other team, I want to say it was Marquette before the endline stepping incident shitted that finish away.

When you pressure full court like that, once you get by the first surge, it's open court.

Which is why it's such a baffling choice to use the full court press. Just lay back near the foul line and STAY IN FRONT OF YOUR MAN, forcing them to take a 30 footer to win at the buzzer instead of a layup or dunk.

  3. I expect he'll get hurt again before the season's over, even though I don't want to see that happen. As far as tonight goes, I'd guess he'll play 15-20 minutes tops but still take at least 5-10 shots just to see how his body reacts.

  4. I've got Pitt/---/OU/Louisville in my bracket since Memphis tanked.

However, I'm going to go with 'Nova (by 11), UConn (by 5), Louisville (by 13) and unfortunately my least favorite team in the NCAA, UNC (by 7). Call it a Big East bias, but I just think they're all better than they're opponents though I wouldn't be shocked if UNC won it as the only non Big East team in the Final Four just to spite me.

  5. No real shocks tonight, at least not to me. Stuff like UConn over Purdue was easy to pick, and Pitt has a stay of execution until Saturday now where Villanova should run them off the court given the way those two teams are playing.

Why did these so called experts think Duke had a hope in hell tonight? You could just see from watching games this year that Villanova is bad ass and would be a nightmare matchup for Duke. They're quicker, shoot better, just have it all over Duke every way possible.

Also had Mizzou over Memphis tonight, which may have surprised some. Calipari had a baffling strategy in this game. Memphis ran up a huge winning streak by playing hard nosed defense and tonight they were fine with getting into a high octane battle with one of the most frenetic teams in the nation? Memphis needed to slow this down a bit, because they don't have enough scoring to match Mizzou.

They see DUKE on the chest and think it's early '90s Duke instead of the squad of stiffs they have these days. It always amazes me how high the expectations are for this team when average fans know they are mediocre at best.

  6. Because their academic record is deplorable, and rarely any of their student athletes graduate. So fuck them, they're a fraud to the world!

Are student athletes supposed to graduate? I thought they were there simply to make money for their respective schools.

  8. I voted for Stern for the Seattle scam, the Donaghy incident (which I don't believe was isolated) and his complete inability to find competent officials. I also feel like the NBA product is not interesting to watch because teams are more concerned with shedding payroll this year and next year than they are at winning games for (at least) those two seasons. 1/3 of your league shouldn't be tanking a couple of seasons to potentially sign a handful of free agents especially when some of those teams have no shot in hell of getting the guys they want anyway. There's no reason to have a salary cap if you can go over it by paying your own players more, and selling draft picks for cash to stay below a luxury tax threshold is just as stupid. The Suns haven't had much of a bench because the owner was too cheap to have his GM draft some warm bodies when he could sell the picks for a couple of million bucks each. It's a fucked up league when you can try to trade for Keith Van Horn or Raef LaFrentz' expiring contract and neither one of those guys has played meaningful, or any, minutes in years.
