You pick whenever you like. Now, even.
-
While we're Jung, guys.
-
I wanted to take another defenseman with this pick. Then it occurred to me, why take just a defenseman when I can take a defenseman... and a mean cup of coffee? Tim Horton, D 7-time All Star Second all-time in consecutive games played (486) Widely considered "the strongest man in the game" during his career 43rd on The Hockey News' 100 Greatest Hockey Players
-
I'm trying to make two wrongs a right and trade Toskala and Raycroft for somebody. I've never had very much success with multi-man trades, though, and usually have to ship off prospects when I try to get a little more bang for my worthless Brian McCabe buck. Is there a simple solution I'm missing?

Lost 3-2 to Ottawa to open the season. Amusingly, Scott Hannan, with his one goal, was both the second and third stars of the game.
-
I played 8 games as the Kings. You just have to stay one step ahead of Jason LaBarbera. Or are you starting Cloutier? There's not really a lesser of those two evils.
-
I just started a Dynasty with the Leafs, so I'll use this thread to chronicle my inevitable failure. I did send Pavel Kubina and a 2nd to Colorado for Scott Hannan and Jean-Michael Liles, though.

Was Hawerchuk the guy you thought I would take? Yeah, I figured you'd go "Oh, hey, 1400 points, why pass that up?". This next pick, though, isn't about scoring points, but about preventing them. A lot of great defensemen are already gone, but this one I feel has flown under the radar. Not a great pick, but a very good one. Sergei Zubov, D 4-time All Star 2006 Norris finalist Only 4 minus seasons
-
Know how I was caught between Hawerchuk and some other guy? Borje Salming was the other guy.
-
Presumably for picking the last remaining member of the 1400 point club. Great pick.
-
Smartly only took Larry Murphy instead because he didn't want a Devil.
-
I agonized over this for a while. I know neither of the two I was considering are going to survive back to me, so I'll ignore my embarrassment of riches at the position and take the aforementioned but previously unnamed: Dale Hawerchuk, C 1982 Calder Trophy 5-time All Star Member of the Phoenix Coyotes Ring of Honor Hall of Famer 17th all-time in points (1409) Second-youngest to score 100 points in a season Placed 3rd in 80s GM poll of who they would build a franchise around, behind Wayne Gretzky and Paul Coffey I know I have the proverbial assload of centers, all of which have captained teams, but at this stage of the draft it's hard to pass up a 1400 point scorer. You all know that proverb about assloads, of course.

No, he was never a Bruin. Max is just really savvy, and looking at the numbers I couldn't believe this guy was (and is) still on the board. I might not take him now, because damn if I need another player at that position, but he's a good enough pick that I'll probably take him anyway. Kudos to Max for totally jacking Brad Park from Smartly, though.
-
If the guy number one on my board right now makes it to me - I don't trust Max one bit - I'm going to weep tears of joy.
-
Mike Modano, C Every North Stars/Stars scoring record Most goals and points by an American 7-time All Star Mike fuckin' Modano, I mean come on.
-
Great pick. There's no better player to capitalize on the "assume they're not injured" rule than Peter Forsberg. He was my backup if my other pick goes. EDIT: Mikita is a good pick too, I was wondering when he'd go.
-
Fuck! I knew it was a long shot to have him make it back to me, but that was just painful.
-
He's picking Leetch. He misfired on that earlier which started a brief hubbub.
-
Anybody who can stake a claim to being the best player an O6 team ever had is a great pick, and one could certainly make that argument for this guy. Mats "Vanilla Ice" Sundin, C First European to be drafted #1 Overall Longest-tenured European captain ever Most goals, assists and points by a Swede (First to 500 goals and only to 1000 points) Toronto Maple Leafs' leader in goals and points, first to score 400 goals as a Leaf, second in franchise assists Second player to score 20 goals in each of his first 16 seasons 9-time All Star

With a hotshot scoring defenseman and a third of the famous Punch Line thus far, I figure I need to back up this offense with a lockdown goalie. Who better than George Hainsworth? George Hainsworth, G Second all-time in career GAA (1.93) Professional shutouts leader (104), as well as single season shutout record holder (22) Third in NHL shutouts (94) One of three goalies to serve as an NHL team's captain Winner of the first three Vezina Trophies (1926-27 through 1928-29) Two-time Stanley Cup Winner with the Canadiens (1929-30, 1930-31) Went 270:08 without allowing a goal in 1930 playoffs, a record

I wasn't aware you got a pity pick, that must've slipped by me. I guess you'd pity pick first because you come first in the draft order, but I'm not entirely sure.
-
Again, here's what happened. Smartly just kind of jumped in wherever, but it's Max's picks. Then I'm assuming I get an end-of-round pity pick, having inherited Baron's team and his missed pick. Then it's Goblin's pick again and the universe is in harmony.
-
Baron's pick was taken away, and Goblin picked, so it's your picks and Smartly is a moron. I assume I get a pity pick after you pick, but regardless, it's definitely not Smartly's pick.

Can I take his spot?
-
I've seen The Big Lebowski 8 times, so it's a little more than a soft spot. But yeah, Pirata's a blast, and a character a year or so in the making when I was really bored in Spanish. It was Toxx' idea to make it JJ under the mask to reintroduce him, so credit to him. I considered having Andersen counter and referencing Buster Douglas, but much like strawberry preserves, a joke is at its most delicious when it's not spread too thin. Perhaps in the future.
