Kaine's motives and reasoning were pretty much haphazardly written. The closest to an actual motivation was that Kaine was jealous that Ben wasn't deformed or dating an evil bitch like Kaine was (and who Kaine killed and who Peter later got put on trial for killing early on in the clone saga). As for Kaine's fate; he's currently in hiding and raising Peter and MJ's daughter May while everyone continues to think that the two are dead... Thanks for the update. I think Kaine's original motives were pretty well written, to tell you the truth. It's just Marvel later making Ben a clone again that screwed that all up.

Just curious Damaramu, did you have a problem with the X-Men movie makeovers as well, or would you have preferred Hugh Jackman in yellow and blue spandex?
-
So, Kaine made a mistake in believing that Ben Reilly was the true Parker? So that whole time in the beginning of the Clone Saga and Lost Years when he was trying to kill and frame Ben (who he thought was the original Peter), he was actually wasting his time on the clone? Did this come to his attention in the series and where is Kaine now?

Finally saw the movie tonight. I loved it, great story, fight scenes, etc. etc. You've all heard it before. Only thing I'd like to comment on is the Venom debate. I traced the links of the Spider-Man parody comic strips in the previous page of this thread to the parent site http://www.newcomicreviews.com/, and came across a detailed analysis of the Spider-Man Clone Saga which I've really enjoyed reading thus far. The analysis is lined with brief commentaries by one of the editors of Spider-Man during the time of the Clone saga, and something he wrote in his comments really expressed how I feel about introducing a character like Venom into the film series: I understand that though he's perhaps the most favoured villain fans want to see adapted onto the screen, I forsee a symbiote storyline easily coming off as being incredibly ridiculous to mainstream audiences and more importantly, film critics.

No. Right now it's still surrounded by boards and huge L'oreal Ads. I've peeked in occasionally and I can tell you that right now it's still one massive hole that they still seem to be digging out. The new Eaton Centre is finally shaping up nicely, though.

Hey, I was at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto today and there was like a huge festival to promote this movie. I shit you not. They were giving out free burgers and blonde roller girls were skating around passing out tatoos and stickers and other freebies. I was about to get a John Cho cup but the dude gave me a cup with the logo on it instead. They had a sidewalk artist draw large version of the movie's logo. For some reason there were tents with charicature artists and spray-painted t-shirt lettering, too. There was a toss game where contestants had to throw these Fisher-Price rubber hamburgers into holes cut out on a board where Harold and Kumar's mouths are. The whole time I was there, all I could think was: "They're doing all this for THAT movie?"

We've already started receiving On Demand in Canada and it's actually quite convenient. I never buy movies on it, I just watch stuff on TMN On Demand (which is like HBO). It's all on one channel and you simply pick from a list the thing you want to watch. The Rewinding and Fast Forwarding functions can use some more speeds, however.

Well, with almost 3 months to go before the CD hits the stores, it appears as though Antics has been leaked onto the net. "Strangers In The Night" is officially "C'mere", and I think "Next Exit" is Untitled #2. Anyway, I don't have any links to downloads, this is all just info from reading message boards.

credit: Billboard I hope one of the songs on the list is a re-named "Strangers in the night" as it's my favourite track out of all the new, unreleased material.

Howard sees Bradshaw's NBC firing as another post-Janet Jackson censorship overreaction, so the interview will be pretty much in line with all that political stuff he's currently involved in. Would be interesting to hear Bradshaw's current stance on Bush. He knows that both shows attract the same demos so that working relationship has always been quite healthy. Even when they goof on things like the gay wedding and Goldust's torrettes; you know, stuff that all of us here do anyway.

The one album you own that most others don't.

redbaron: Hope you've checked out their b-sides as well. "Specialist" is superb. -

Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights I don't expect any of you to go out and get it, but if you already have it, you'll know what I mean. I saw them open for Billy Talent in January and have been a fan ever since. They are going to be HUGE (within indie circles at least). Lots of buzz about these two. -
I like watching by myself at home. Theatres are really nice but the people around you can really ruin a movie, whether if it's some tall guy sitting in front of you or your friend chewing popcorn really loudly.

Is there anyone who wouldn't watch this?

Are you speaking of his verse on "Chessboxin"? If so, he sure made a whole lot out of it. One of my fav rap verses, period.

If you want cheap tix and don't mind missing a bit of Velocity, wait til the show has started and talk to some scalpers. Some of them just want to get home by that point and are willing to get rid of tickets for much less than face value. My friends and I paid $13 per ticket at the last SD in Toronto and eventually just moved up to a few empty seats in the front row of our deck. Best show I ever went to because I finally felt like I got back what I paid for. Of course, I'm left to wonder if I should bother lining up for the autographs if I don't have a ticket to push me up the line. I wouldn't mind the wait as long as I don't leave empty-handed. Anyone else planning to go to this thing without a ticket?

It is an intentional spoof. It's basically Joe Schmo Show + American Idol. They intentionally pick the bad singers out of the crop and trick them into thinking they're good. I don't think the show's too bad. Some of the performances are quite funny. They shouldn't have kicked off Ross/Rose, though. He was my fav.
-
Yeah. Corey and Trevor get their revenge.
-
Haha, it's funny because Hogan went along with it too.

Sara changes roles at the beginning of each season with brief explanations. She starts dating Ricky in Season 2, she moves in with Trinity and Lucy in 3, and now she's with Corey and Trev. I personally don't find her attractive. Don't listen to him. It's absolutely great. Actually, do listen to him. That way you'll see the movie with lowered expectations and be totally blown away by how great it is. I loved Conky but thought he deserved a better ending. I thought the "Ravine/Patrick Swayze" taunting dragged for a bit too long. Seeing a puppet get shot was indeed cool, however.

How many of you guys have seen the TPB movie? I don't think it's been released on VHS or DVD, but Showcase airs it from time to time. It was essentially the pilot for the tv show. There are a few differences. Ricky and Julian are pet assassins (exactly what it sounds like: people pay them to shoot dogs and cats), there's no Bubbles (although I think Mike Smith was the sound guy in the movie), and the movie is shot in black and white. The tv series loosely begins where the movie ends off. Oh, and as previously mentioned, do check out Fubar. I can't get enough of that film.

What does she look like? Anyone have a pic?
