  1. In what sense?

i guess i didnt buy the icarus 1 captain's ability to completely sabotage the mission. he seemed to gain superhero abilities and heightened senses. he had no skin, for goodness sakes! the movie became cheesy at that point.

  2. Not sure if this was mentioned before, but I found this on a SK rant:

Speaking of Tugboat, since the angle is dead and buried now I can reveal that Dusty Rhodes tried hard to have Shockmaster be the mastermind behind Vince McMahon’s attempted murder, which I guarantee would have been better than whatever the eventual payoff would have been.

how many fans even remember the shockmaster debacle????

  3. From the WON in fall 2005:

"Debra Marshall, 44, was backstage at Raw. She said she was visiting friends, but people believe she was also looking for work. She's clearly had some work done on her face. While absolutely no one justifies what Steve Austin did to her, people say they aren't shocked that Debra could drive someone to beat her up either."

Those people are also idiots. There is no woman so annoying that a huge man should punch her. if she is annoying while swinging a bat at your head, then fine.

some women deserve to be slapped in the mouth. not punched, but definitely have some sense knocked into them.

  4. Found this rather interesting news bit on ecwextreme.com...

According to the Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter, WWE management does, to a degree, look down upon young wrestlers who “overindulge” in a marijuana habit.

The company believes that marijuana could factor into a wrestler’s lack of desire to get ahead. If a wrestler who has a reputation for a lack of passion also smokes marijuana, he will likely be viewed as a "pothead" management will likely refrain from giving him a push until he kicks (or hides) the habit.

The same does not apply to marijuana use by veteran WWE wrestlers whose bodies have been banged up in the ring over time. WWE accepts the notion that such wrestlers have proven their commitment to success and, consequently, have “earned the right” to indulge.

Under its wellness policy, WWE does not formally test for marijuana use.

    WTF??????? This can't be true...

  5. Bob Schrader, a columnist on WWE.com, actually wrote about the absurdities of Mabel becoming Viscera and the possibility that Viscera doesn't remember that he is Mabel and he won KOTR. It actually just gets funnier as you get further in.

Then there’s the case of Viscera, who might be the most fascinating character in the history of WWE, if not human civilization. Hear me out. Viscera used to be known as Mabel. Like many WWE Superstars, he has had his ups and downs. He started as a friendly rapping giant in Men on a Mission. (“We’re Men on a Mission… the Quebecers we be dissin….†– Top THAT, Ludacris.) Then Mabel shocks everyone by winning King of the Ring, loses the rapping and becomes KING Mabel. (With his former tag partner Mo becoming… wait for it… Sir Mo.) Then for a while, nothing happens until…Undertaker while forming his Ministry of Darkness kidnaps and “sacrifices†Mabel. Sacrifices were pretty big back in ‘99 with Undertaker abducting various people, brainwashing them, changing their identities and turning them into his zombified disciples. That’s right, before there was Lost and The Others, there was Undertaker and Mabel.

So Mabel turns into Viscera – the demonic crazy-eyed, latex-wearing minion of Undertaker. The only problem is the Ministry of Darkness disbanded eight years ago and Mabel is STILL Viscera. Everyone else in the Ministry moved on, but NOBODY bothered to fix Viscera. Say what you will, but that’s fascinating. And I haven’t even gotten to the part where Viscera, after not talking for years, decides to become a “500-pound love machine†and starts a bizarre love/hate relationship with Lilian Garcia. The point is, does this man know of his former life? Do his parents still try to contact him? Siblings? What does Sir Mo think of all this? You mean to tell me if you gathered the nation's top psycho-therapists, Mo and Oscar from Men on a Mission, and various members of Mabel’s family, put them in a room for an intervention, set up a bunch of cameras and called it Deprogramming Viscera, America wouldn’t be sucked in? These are the things I think about.

So with that backstory in mind, here’s where things get weird – Viscera arrives to Raw with apparently one purpose – to eat a fat, juicy steak. Seriously, that’s it. He doesn’t have a match. No interview. He presumably flew to State College, Pa., checked out of his hotel, got into his rental car, and came to the arena with one goal in mind – eat dinner. And what happens? Right as he’s about to pour steak sauce over his meal, he lifts the tray to reveal his steak has been STOLEN. Stolen by what turns out to be two petty criminals looking to sell the steak to a worldwide television audience for Mother’s Day, of all things! If Viscera isn’t on the cover when People does their “Most Fascinating People†issue, then something is wrong.

Awesome. But after they hold Viscera's intervention, what do you do with him? Reform MoM? Or just make him travel around eating steaks and falling for white divas?

  6. Is it me or is Chris Masters back on roids?

Probably HGH. Tells you what the wwe really thinks of it's Wellness Program. Masters was one of the few who seemed to take it seriously and was hazed and ridiculed on screen for doing so. Once he starts adding mass again and all of a sudden VKM is a huge backer and wants a big push for him.

That's a sad state of affairs where a company promotes "wellness" but then ridicules those who ascribe to the program. Masters looked remarkably different after ending his roid use and maybe the company felt they had to say something to explain his transformation. VKM has always had a hard on for hosses and big men.

  7. People in WWE are comparing Batista to Jim Hellwig a lot now. They say he doesn't really love wrestling and simply got in because he had a great body and was well-pushed and well-protected. Triple H is a huge supporter of his and views him as a protege. He was obsessed with getting Batista over in 2005, particularly after his Randy Orton angles failed, because he felt it would be a part of his legacy. Triple H is aware that, from the outside, there is a certain doubt as to how he will be remembered. However, Batista has also developed a star attitude. Things he has said in the Smackdown locker room, plus perceived arrogance and aloofness have hurt his popularity with the rest of the guys, although since he is actually quite a shy person much of that may have been unintentional. The fight with Booker T hurt him a great deal more though. He had been scheduled to win the title back at SummerSlam but Vince McMahon changed that plan and at the time said Batista was never getting the title back at all. This was not because of the fight occurring but because Batista lost it and Vince could no longer personally buy into Batista as a huge tough guy for losing to Booker. Michael Hayes and Dusty Rhodes talked Vince around since Smackdown was in such a bad shape over the summer and Batista still had drawing ability, while Booker was mainly comedy. When the plan worked Vince was prepared to even let Batista go over Undertaker at WrestleMania to 'take him to the next level of stardom', but Batista has made such a bad impression on people during this latest reign that it is very unlikely to extend past Mania.

    wrestling observer newsletter

Did anyone catch the absurdity of this statement? Vince didn't allow Batista to win the world title because he lost a fight to Booker T?? WTF? I've seen plenty of 'huge tough guys' lose matches to smaller opponents because they were chickenshits who hid behind their size or had no fighting skills. Besides, how many fans were even aware of Batista's ass whooping? How did Booker feel about Vince's feelings about him?

  8. "We have been hearing backstage that WWE management has nearly had it with Women's Champion Melina. She already had atomic heat with everyone backstage not named Mick Foley, and her extreme carelessness in recent matches with Mickie James has angered management to the point where she was issued an ultimatum: if her match at WrestleMania 23 with Ashley is not up to their expectations, she can expect to be doing some job searching after the event is over."

    -- PWIElite

Isn't Melina f*cking Batista? Didn't Dave leave his wife for Melina? I figured he could protect her. However, he's disliked by everyone backstage not named HHH so maybe he can't even save her.

I agree with a previous statement. She's universally hated backstage and cannot work a match without injuring her opponent. She can't be too surprised that her job may be in jeopardy.

  9. Who the fuck cares how much Vickie Guerrero makes? She can support her kids with any decent job.

I haven't watched much wrestling during the past year. You can imagine my surprise when I see Vickie Guerrero on Smackdown! every week. I understand that Eddie blew a lot of his money on drugs, whores and alcohol. I supposed Vickie doesn't have any skills that would get her a job that matched Eddie's WWE income. However, I don't think she has any place on TV. I could understand if she were hot, could act or wrestle. But she can't accomplish either. Why doesn't Vince just give her a large check and send her on her way? I turned the tv to SD the other night, saw a close up of her face and almost gagged. I'm sure she's a nice lady but she has no place on tv.

  10. Isn't the main reason behind WWE's success internationally centered upon the current stars? If they establish seperate brands overseas, will people like Cena and Taker compete in those regions regularly? Do these audiences a second-third tier star as a champion? Or, like someone else stated, will they continue to place the main focus on the North American audiences and have the main stars make periodic appearances?

The idea of international territories is intriguing. I'm not sure how successful it will be in the long run, however.

  11. Hi, smarks!

I don't watch wrestling too much any more. I've been unable to watch it consistently as my work schedule often conflicts with AFN's airings of Raw and Smackdown. I have some questions on the Boogeyman, if anyone can answer them.

    1. Who is Boogeyman and where did the E find him?

    2. I heard somewhere that Shane came up with the gimmick and Boogey added the worms and teeth extraction. Is this true?

    3. Why did they fire him and rehire last year? I know he was injured at some point.

    4. How does the IWC view this gimmick, with scorn, humor, apathy?

Also, how the hell did Umaga become so popular? I remember when he debuted and some people in the community hated the character. Now he's main eventing and appears to be everyone's darling. What's up with that? I like him, to be honest. But I do have a thing for Samoans and hosses.

  12. Good grief, I did not know the PS3 was so expensive. I have an original Playstation from one hundred years ago. I liked it ok. Lately the only game I've been crazy about is World of Warcraft and Hitman Blood Money for PC (which I can't finish. Shit). I'm leaning heavily towards the Xbox because of online play and strong word of mouth. But I'll look into the PS3 more closely.

  13. I *do* understand the definition of the word fiction. I just like to suspend belief while I am being entertained. I just couldn't believe that,

the world would go insane because human beings could no longer reproduce. I guess I am placing my probable reactions to the situation on the rest of the world, and, a flu pandemic or some mystery virus would cause universal infertility.

I just couldn't grasp these ideas. The producers of this movie were obviously attempting to make some political point. The plot just seem out there, even for a movie.
