This Week in College Football 9/8 - 9/10

I think Iowa might have been looking ahead to Ohio State in the Shoe on the 24th. And they just flat out didn't come to play...Iowa State controlled just about every aspect of the game. If Iowa gets their heads on straight one should feel sorry for Kurt Warner U next week (Northern Iowa) because they're getting rolled.

WWE Having Disputes with MSG Management

What if Vince did some outdoor events in New York? They used to have heavyweight boxing championship fights in Yankee Stadium. I think it'd be cool to have a Wrestlemania or Summerslam there.

    MLB to OLN Next Season?

As a Cardinals fan...our radio team sucks since Joe Buck went national and Jack Buck passed on. Mike Shannon sounds like he's had more than his share of Budweisers before he gets into the booth. Wayne Hagin: Pujols swings! Deep shot into left-center field...GONE! Shannon: (chuckling as Hagin keeps talking) For radio, Shuman is OK..but I miss Charley Steiner doing ESPN Sunday night baseball.

    ESPN Fires Trev Alberts

Who couldn't miss Trev Alberts' consistent shilling of the Cornholer football program. Nebraska was always supposed to go 12-0 and never even give up a point for crying out loud if you listened to Trev.

And yes...in 2002 Iowa State beat Iowa and was Iowa's only regular season loss.

I make no excuses...Iowa got their asses kicked. Don't know if they were looking two weeks ahead to their date in the Shoe with Ohio State but we got our asses kicked and we became Brett Meyer's bitch today.

I never got this mentality and I'm not directing it to you specificially Why do people feel like it's more important to "support" a team that's your rival simply because they are in the same division/conference It applies in all sports. OU fans should never in any condition cheer or support Texas in any form. Just like I will never see a OSU fan support Michigan and vice versa. I hate the idea that cheering a rival is okay if it's to "support" the conference. You can support Texas because you honestly feel they are the better team or you like their chances more but I can't understand why you or any one in regards to their team's rivals, would support the rival to win? I can understand if you wanted Texas to win because it wouldn't make OU look as bad when they lose to Texas this year... Maybe i'm just one of those crazy fans that believe supporting your *ACTUAL* team includes going against your rivals at all costs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Amen to that...as an Iowa fan if it's a case of Michigan, Minnesota, or Iowa State going against a group of aliens and the human race is on the line in this game...I guess I'm rooting for extinction, lol. Michigan beats Notre Dame, Texas beats Ohio State...and I'll be at the game and watch my Hawkeyes slap that cow college in Ames (Iowa State aka Moo U)

    On bureacracy and Katrina

The problem is that some people think that some of those programs are "The Fat"...it's gotten to the point we don't know what the fat is and what the meat is anymore. Irony was that when Reagan and Dubya Junior took office they talked about less government in our lives...yet in the last 25 years we've seen more government growth than any other time in history.

What would you change in WWE today

Two other quick ideas. One...the night after a major pay-per-view...is it possible to not have three or four of those matches on the following night's RAW? I thought the idea was to have different matches that people are paying to see. Defeats the purpose by putting them on the show the next night. Two...something most people may not notice but I have...no house shows the night before a pay-per-view. I went to a couple of those that basically were done in less than two hours...getaway days basically. I want my money's worth if I sit through a house show. Also...if you're going to keep the brand extension...perhaps not have a house show for the other on the night the other show is having a live TV show (or taped in the case of SD).

What would you change in WWE today

Good ideas...here's a few of mine. Occasional title changes on the house shows and live shows. Obviously I don't want a title changing hands on every show...but if you do it every once in a while it makes every show worth seeing. Especially when you have a title change on a house show...adds to that "Anything Can Happen" feel the product needs right now. Do away with the CW division and introduce a Television title. Of course...it has to have the old rules in which the champ defends his title automatically every time he appears on TV. Have the TV champ go back and forth between the two brands, it gives the undercards on both shows a chance to shine. I'd also combine the tag titles and have the tag champs going between the two shows. What the hell...do the same with the World titles...keep the IC belt on RAW and the US belt on SD but have the other titles on either show.

    NFL Network...

I love this channel...actually, Red...it broadcasts the NFL Radio channel off of Sirius for the games. And God bless NFL Sunday Ticket...it's a great thing to have.

    Shit-storm coming for Kanye?

I'm supposed to take Kanye's commentary seriously when this is the same guy who went off to suck his thumb and sit with his blankie after Gretchen Wilson beat him for an AMA last year? Granted, our officials at all levels...national, state, city...dropped the ball on this big time. You have a mayor of New Orleans and a governor of Louisiana who want to cry instead of lead. You have a media that is so gung-ho about New Orleans being washed away that they forget Mississippi and Alabama have a few communities gone also. The leaders were more worried about playing pocket pool than getting stuff done. However, Kanye's comment was completely ignorant. And the fact that many people buy into his comment doesn't make it any less so. They are as ignorant as he is for holding the view. I'm not saying Kanye doesn't have the right to speak his mind...he does. But I have the right of fair response...last time I checked the Constitution was supposed to protect that. And race is being brought into a discussion where it really doesn't belong. This has nothing to do with race...it has to do with the ball being dropped but at least we're trying to resolve this. Let's put down the Kool-Aid everyone and help our fellow Americans out. Then we can figure out what went wrong and make damn sure it never happens again.

    Hurricane Katrina

From what they made it sound like...small consolation really for New Orleans I know...15 miles or so separated New Orleans from a dead-on hit. What ticks me off is that they talked for years about something like this happening and they were still caught with their pants down.

    Hurricane Katrina

Watch for gas prices to go up again too. They said of the 5000 oil rigs in the Gulf, Katrina's going to go over about half of them. Many of them weren't reinforced apparently they had just enough time to get the men and the beer off and get the hell out of there.

bands that everyone loves, but you hate!

Don't necessarily hate hate HATE them...but I have no interest in the Rolling Stones. I know they're one of the greatest groups ever...but their tunes I can take or leave. Now...I do hate hate hate HATE Blues Traveler. Talk about blues gone pop...I want to pull my tongue out and beat myself senseless with it if I'm forced to hear their music. Or I'd rather have John Popper wrap his mouth around a cheeseburger, clamp down and just SHUT UP!

U.S. concedes ground to Islamists on Iraqi law

I agree with training them to bring democracy to themselves. Ultimately they have to make the decision on what they want. Although I didn't sign up for this Islamist state thing. If that comes about I will support getting the troops out of there so fast it would make Bill Maher's head spin.
  20. Paul Jones was more mid-80s...they never had the Russian Assassins that was Ivan Koloff's doing. Some of his men were The Barbarian, Abdullah the Butcher, Teijo Khan, and Baron Von Raschke. Gordy was never a Varsity Club member...it was Sullivan, Rotundo, Dr. Death, and Rick Steiner.

Your 3 new Inductees into the WON Hall of Fame...

Triple H has only been on top of the business for about 5 years now...to me that's not enough for Hall of Fame material. If Hunter's Hulking Honker is still there after 10 more years or so than I suppose it could be considered. Heyman is a definite. He changed the course of pro wrestling for the most part, whether one would say good or bad, with ECW. Without ECW, you don't have WWF Attitude, or a different alternative to what WWF and WCW offered in the mid-90s. The Freebirds were fun to watch and the team worked very well together. The team of Garvin and Hayes were never really the true Freebirds...nor was the joke of turning the Hardyz into the new Freebirds. Michael Hayes, Buddy Roberts, and Terry Gordy all made it work...they were creative together, colorful, and knew how to work the crowd. Plus, I still mark out when I hear Badstreet USA blasting. :

    The Cost of Oil.

Here in Iowa we have most grades of unleaded running around $2.50-2.60 per gallon. Blends with ethanol have fortunately always run less...about $2.40 per now. Ethanol blends should be more available across the country and not just in the Midwest. Contrary to the negative things heard about ethanol blends I've never had a problem with them. But alternative fuel supplies...while they are the best idea (this way we can finally tell the despots and dictators of the ME what they can do with their oil) will never happen as long as we have a government beholden to the oil industry and the countless money that they throw at Congress and government on all levels each year.

    Favorite Movie Quote?

Here's some more... Vernon Dean's character in The Outlaw Josey Wales "Don't piss down my leg and tell me it's raining." Planes, Trains, and Automobiles "Where's your other hand?" "Between two pillows." "Those AREN'T PILLOWS!" Stripes "Let's give it up for the best big toe in this army...Sergeant Hulka!"

Rey Mysterio's son suffering "emotional distress"

It somehow wouldn't surprise me, Vince being Vince...to have actually considered putting Dominic himself at the top of the ladder. Could be the most riveting match of its kind since Colonel DeBeers battled Jake "The Milkman" Milliman in a turkey-on-a-pole match in the dying days of the AWA. Then again...it could royally suck ass.

    Frankie Kazarian to leave WWE?

Kazarian looks good from what I've seen so far. I couldn't picture Vince getting tired of him so fast. Then again...Ultimo Dragon was already out of favor with the McMahon clan before he even wrestled his first match.
