Promo: “All the Heathers are Dying”
Bruce Blank replied to HollywoodSpikeJenkins's topic in Brandon Truitt
LOL and I thought Manson did the self-delusional gimmick -
So a sleeper? I always wondered how a sleeper made people say "I quit" or tap - they pass out from it
-
Alright come on now you're all debating if it was okay or not to chant shit at the kids because of how they acted yet no one has specified what these kids did that was so bad - just that they were were "having the time of their life and cheering their favorites on" - that's ALL that's been stated about what they did The rest is speculation based on the half-baked theory "Well if the fans chanted that stuff at them they must have been doing something bad" Does anyone actually KNOW what they were doing? If not then the whole conversation is rather pointless wouldn't you say?
-
Well he signed up as "Rush" Hadrian, but to say that he used him may be a bit of a overstatement (it was during the tag-team tournament)
-
Oh silly bugger me and I thought the Anaconda Vice put pressure on the arm - is it more like a sleeper then? Still - ONE line right back I worked your injured neck every chance I got even going all Lawler on it
-
My biggest problem with this is - #4 is due THE NEXT DAY! Come on now you must have known this a while ago, to push the announcement til the day before they're supposed to ship is just poor management.
-
THE STREAK CONTINUES!! - LOL since my match is the only new addition I'll leave it at that It didn't take you long to think of some matches that were more than just "the suck" as you called it. The match with Manson was solid, sound if a bit unspectacular but then again there wasn't that much backstory and emotion to bring into it with it opening the show and all It doesn't help that you've twice left JJJ behind like a smelly step-child and come up with two generic characters to replace him. Johnson is much more unique than either of those.

Well if no one else comments then I can throw in a few comments on what I think could be worked on (I'm not saying I'm perfect in these areas, I'm constantly working on stuff like this myself) 1) Selling - there is hardly any selling beyond maybe 2-3 seconds, a move like the Blank Bomb that's Bruce's finisher only affects Akira enough for Bruce to put the Straightjacket on, then it's forgotten. 2) Akira does some things to a 295 pound man that I wouldn't have figured from his stats (the twisting Pedigree and the Suicide Suplex being the two obvious ones) and just using his power to pull a hand free from Bruce's grip? if you had added a bit about sweatty hands or slipping out when Bruce adjusted his grip or something yes that's believable but Bruce with power 9 isn't someone you just pull lose from unless you're a 6 or 7 in power. 3) There was no build to the finish unless your plan was to build the Anaconda Vice as a move that's INSTANT SUBMISSION without actually working on the area it affects beforehand. Just to "Oh the wordlimit is up, let's slap it on" IMO 4) Storyline - to me it was just a bunch of back and forth action (good action don't get me wrong) but there was no real discernable story to it. my match told a clear story which was "Bruce totally underestimated Akira and really paid for it" Any other comments I'd have would probably just be nitpicking or just how I like to do stuff so I'll spare you that cause it's probably not things that would have made a difference in the match - but I think those 4 points would have made a world of difference.
-
Just change your nickname to Landon "Samsonite" Maddix and make a career out of it, Jim Neidhart got a very nice run out of doing that If he can do it anyone can
-
And now onto the show (minus one match) Johnson brings the stiffness Nemesis brings the funny French bashing Birdman brings the highspeed action Jimmy the Doom brings the "well it's better than a no show" No one seems to bring anything for Bruce/Akira and finally Stephens/Maddix brings the top notch main event I was hoping it'd be (complete with hilarious Team Canada entrance) Yup that'll do it.
-
PFFFFFFFFF I don't need no steeenkin' double extension but that could be why it's not been passed on yet to be put on the show.
-
I know I sent in my match to Evo, so time will tell I suppose.
-
It only said Sting's career is on the line not Jarrett's - it's what he wanted in return for giving Sting a rematch (so now they can't just BOOK him Vs Jarrett??) Isn't Sting's contract running out around that time? Jarrett retires Sting - BIG HEELZ OMG!! Over heel? yeah over USED heel, over PUSHED heel, overSTAID his welcome Heel.
-
Booked on HeldDOWN No Rules Necessary Zack Malibu Vs Bruce Blank
-
I don't care about him being put over Brown or Rhyno - Joe is where the money would be at! Old Whiskerbiscuit in TNA? hmmmmm interesting
-
I think Orton's got a lot more going for him than his looks. He is a pretty good wrestler, chinlocks aside. I will only agree with that statement if your definition of "pretty good" means "He can be carried to a pretty good match"
-
Yeah but it was Hoff - so it should be ignored (kidding)
-
Ah it’s that time again, Wednsday (well Thursday for me because of the time diff but let’s not split hairs) it’s time for LOCKDOWN!!! Did the French surrender and forget to do a Dark match? Opening Promo (dastardly upstaged by “Pre-show comments” by Flesher, Grappler & Matheson – oh those heels!!) Question – if Michael Stephens is a face and pretty over, why do the fans continue to taunt him with the “Toxxic” chant when he’s trying to distance himself from that persona? That’d be like fans chanting “Gregory Helms” at the Hurricane when he first adopted the gimmick, I just don’t get the logic behind it. Flesher comes out and frankly the Stephens/Flesher confrontation is going to rock AND roll! I smell a PPV main event in the making. Let’s put it this way Stephens/Flesher 1 on 1 HAS to be a PPV main event! - Up next Martin Hunt takes on the Question Mark!! Who will it be this time? Since we’re in Canada a CIA appearance would probably blow the lid off the place. But Birdman will definitely do!! CAW! CAW! Mother Canuckers I like the quick run down of his past accomplishments to give us an idea of his success rate *thumbs up* And now Martin Hunt knows what a car feels like (see he was hit with the Bird Droppings like a c… nevermind) Cool little match that signals “the Bird is back” and has the perfect length, Hunt is a total job boy, he shouldn’t have long hard fought matches IMO. A welcome return to the federation - Nemesis/Manson II: This time it’s STILL serious!! A rematch from Ground Zero and it’s all action from the beginning as Nemesis doesn’t go through his usual theatrics but heads straight for Manson. The Suicide King with the pamphlets Good back and forth, allowing Manson to get in his offence due to his speed advantage and Nemesis is actually written as a GIANT! He shouldn’t sell too much, he shouldn’t be thrown around easily and he’s not – he’s making Manson work for it, and work for it he does! It's good to see someone who chose a style that's different from the rest of the SWF and is doing it pretty well. Double Nemesis? Did I just see double or were there two Nemesis? And breaking out the 7’5’’ drop kick as a way to overcome Mansonosity *thumbs up* There is a lot of action crammed into the match, I see improvement from the first match already, just stick with it. - Bruce Blank, Hardcore No More - LOL I take it that Elk and The took out the double no shows? As funny as it was it was a disappointing result - Up next Charlie Matthews Vs Scott Rageheart – then match you’ve been waiting for since. . . erm. . . the other day? “Jesus, Mary and Bret” Matthews is even more boring and rest-hold reliant than usual, and that doesn’t go over well with the Canadians? Totally unrealistic Matthews wins in a match that’s “solid but unspectacular” – probably how the Grappler would have been described if he was an actual wrestler (that’s not a knock on the writer but just how the character is designed) - Tag match time “Two Skinny White Guys” has to be the lamest chant ever! And did Landon just turn face by teaming with Stephens? The “mismatched partners” angle is in full effect here, sold well adding something to the tag-match beyond the standard “generic tag match” fare that we sometimes see. It’s an angle that’s been around since Heyman made Eastern Extreme but at least it’s told well enough to be enjoyable and with enough variation from the standard “heel and face are FORCED to work together” set up to feel fresh. Enjoyable and Fresh, can’t be all bad then - Cruiserweight title time! @ Tom “True Red & White Canuck” Flesher “He even made a strong defence against Zyon I’m told” – yeah you didn’t see that on the board? It was up Monday. . . I’m sorry what? Youth and determination falls to Experience and technical awesomeness, it’s the result we probably all expected although up until the end we were kept on the edge of our seats. What can I say? It’s a Tom Flesher match, that should tell you how good it was - Spike fights to be in line for my title (silly spike all you had to do is say please), Akira earned the next shot, Hawke is cruising for something serious there too and Spoon tries to interject himself in there as well to hopefully rise higher than he’s ever risen before – and tonight he’s actually required to fight for it instead of just jumping Akira from behind In order to avoid any misinterpretations of comments and dragging this topic off track I’ll just say “Spike won, get in line” And leave it at that. Oh except “Bruce Blank Vs Workrate”?? You bastard you know I’ll lose there - JJJ Pwns Ben Hardy!! Johnson / Matheson run in – a hint of future enemies perhaps? Flesher/JJJ or Grappler/JJJ both sound like damn fine matches to me. Johnson. . . compliments Bruce? :o shock of the night right there! - Bruce/Hawke 10 minute challenge My own stuff, I won’t comment. - Closing show angle! Wildchild took out a Chevy Impala with the Wild Ride cause that fucker is busted!! Apparently someone isn’t quite ready to just “forgive and forget” when it comes to Mike Van Siclen GOOD!! - Excellent show save the DNS and a missing dark match – I see several things brewing for Genesis 7
-
(I didn’t write anything but the Bruce/Gibraltar match so I’ll comment on Zack’s stuff as well as everything else) It’s Thursday and you’ve all been HELDDOWN!! And it’s time for the HeldDOWN RunDOWN and what a show it was, let’s start with the rating – 7 thumbs up (yes it was so good I grew five more hands just to give it 7 thumbs up) Major, Major steps taken tonight. The Rodez start was perfect, a former friend & enemy totally shook up by the decision to fire Zack Malibu – pointing out the oddness that Bruce & friends go free without any consequences was a nice touch (I guess it’s been sliding because of the fight over who controls the company. . . well at least that sounds like a semi-plausible explanation) Sets the mood for the show right off the bat The set up for the farewell is awesome, friends, enemies, faces, heels all out to say goodbye to Mr. OAOAST, really underlining how big a loss it is to the federation and to a lot of people personally, just awesome stuff. The emotions are really running high with Zack breaking down, Leon entering the ring to and then the rest of the guys to say a final tearfilled goodbye – if only real federations could bring out this kind of emotion! It wouldn’t be a wrestling angle without a surprise though and that surprise – ANGLESAULT!! *mark out city* Anglesault comes out to talk a bit of sense into people, well actually he comes out and says that if Malibu leaves then it’ll be the “One and Only Thread” because he’s taking the “AS” out of it! (that sounded better when Zack wrote it ) And then just to kick Bruce while he’s down (serves him right the rat!!) he books Zack Vs Bruce “NO RULES NECESSARY!!” Which to crowd roars with pleasure over – don’t they know Bruce held the Ultraviolent title for 213 days? That he’s redefined no rules out of control brawls in the SWF? Don’t they know that Zack is a little cute and cuddly mouse walking into a mean and nasty mouse trap??? Well maybe he’s not EXACT a cute and cuddly mouse – and he is revenge fuelled (while Bruce is just beer fuelled) but still. . . “Bruce’s home field, come and play” MUA-HA-HA-HA Makes me wonder what the new people in charge think of Anglesault swimming in their soup Hell makes me wonder why the “Powers that Be” don’t punish Bruce and the Wildcards more than they have so far. . . . Well except having to face the monster Gibraltar in the cage, that’d count as punishment Which I wrote so I won’t go into it too much The match leads to “Theodore Moneymaker” (related to Pro-poker player Chris Moneymaker??) Moneymaker playing all nicey, nice and then sticking the couple with a huge bill. Now that’s old school cool. I’m enjoying these intro segments big time. - Heavenly Rockers!! Black T!! and. . . the Sooner Bruisers? YAY for Hoss’ference! And a wedding to boot – but not without an incident! Excellent no wrestling wedding should be without one (or 10) wrestling logic says “If you’re attacked by a guy under suspension call for him to be reinstated so you can kick his ass” and the Heavenly Rockers are big believers in wrestling logic – it may just be ON! In a way that may leave 1-2-3 or even 4 people without the use of their limbs after the match is over. - D*LUX Vs the South Central Militia With GPX on commentary – with sufficient hilarity to boot (question – former HI-YAH tag champs were just forgotten without even a rematch?) And GPX may have gotten the fan support against the Wildcards but that’s just the magic of wrestling because here they’re back to being their lovably smartassed selves and loving every moment of it. But the delicious irony of GPX complaining about everyone ripping off people as they do the E&C on commentary bit so well No wait I just realized it: Nova ripped off GPX! - It’s Pete on Pete action!! As Longdogger sneaks in and hits Knight with a chair? Or just a series of blows? If it’s just his bare hands then I got to ask “what kind of heel doesn’t use a chair? It’s like the heel thing to do! - Back from commercial and Knight is back up and as expected quite pissed off! Long story short – Angleslam is going to ROCK!! (and not just because of Pete & Peter but they’re adding to the rocking) - 24/7 time!! (isn’t it ALWAYS 24/7 time?) After taking on Zombies and trekkies and I think he pinned a duck in the parking lot Leon takes on a Robot. . . or is he?? Hmmmmm *strokes chin* I just don’t know Fun fact: Ghost Machine V3.0 is currently in the OAOAST although no one seems to remind him of that failed angle Oh and there he comes now along with Cortez & Bloodshed to see if V4 is really a robot or not. My money is on THIS one being a robot!! Oh woops the barbwire baseball bat slipped Blank is just so clumsy that he can’t hold on to the bat, don’t blame him blame the sub-standard bats that the OAOAST buy. PREPARE FOR LANDON!! Which no one did especially Leon Rodez, nor did he prepare for the Shinning Wizard! How awesome is that move that it totally took out Rodez. . . totally on it’s own without anyone else touching him. . . totally It seems that the SWF presence in the OAOAST just grew with 1 – and he’s holding one of your titles to boot! - RICK MORANIS OH MY GOD HAVE MY BABIES!! And what a way to hype the rumble next week, if there is a better way to hype it I’ve never heard of it - And here is ANOTHER SWF alumni Sydney Sky talking to the OAOAST Women’s division (yep there SHE is) - Hoff/Drek Vs Alfdogg/Thunderkid – and with tha Puerto Rican on commentary for “some reason” *looks innocent* A perfectly good match – ending with a rarity: Disqualified for a nut shot, there is something you don’t see much outside of Mexico. Drek takes El Champion down in style giving him a preview of things to come (he hopes) when he faces him at Angleslam and takes the title (again: he hopes) And then just for good measure they do a number on Thunderkid while Alfdogg is watching and Puerto Rican seems a bit laid back about it (struck me as odd) well laid back until he gets a series of kicks in before being escorted out of the ring. Now I’m not sure exactly what the “Spike Future Shock” is but it sounds nasty, the kind of thing that makes the referee call for a stretcher afterwards, yet he’s clear headed enough and everything to throw down a challenge only moments later? Nitpicking I know but it was a bit of a no-sell (even though I know there was a purpose for it) - Words fail me when it comes to the Tourneo Cibernetio – I mean “Awesome” and “Amazing” just don’t seem to be enough to convey just how awesome this match was. Seriously – this should be required reading for all match writers! And even though we never even talked about it I was pleased to see UVX go first, it’s the role he was designed to fill The Brock Ausstin/Otaku II feud keeps burning hot – a short burst of fury before they’re both out, well played. And the faces being down 4 – 2, classic and you don’t mess with a classic The only nitpick I could possibly come up with is that the 4 on 2 advantage doesn’t last long but that’s a small issue. And the end with Faqu and James Blonde – perfect, not too long to diminish the previous 8 eliminations, not so short that it’s feels like a rip off, played to perfection. Genius! That’s the only word left. - This has been one hell of a show, not a weak segment and everything seems to really be building towards Angleslam – I hope we can keep the momentum up.

God doesn't smoke weed and yes he is exactly that guy - the same guy that's totally lost outside of High School when it becomes obvious he's got nothing going for him other than his looks.

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot
Bruce Blank replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
they were in the WWF by 91 - one of them was even in the 91' Rumble (I forget which) -
I was just wondering, especially that long drawn out way they chant it, it just had a heckling feel to it when I read it.

SWF Smarkdown Card for August 14, 2006!
Bruce Blank replied to Ace309's topic in Smarks Wrestling Federation
have it edited in or maybe post it on the board instead? -
Alright then THIS week (well technically next week) I've got a match that will fit the “Marquee” bill even if it doesn’t look like it up front. Ultimo Villaño X may to most people just be a guy that comes to the ring, gets his ass kicked and then goes home with a pay check – Well on the next HeldDOWN that perception is changed for ever. Every moment of UVX’s presence in the OAOAST has been building to this evening* - this is the proverbial “it” if you will It’s an event you don’t want to miss, but I don’t want to spoil the surprise of what it actually is So let’s just say Ultimo Villaño X Vs ???: Be adequately prepared to ROCK!! (* Technically it hasn’t been planned that way from the beginning but now I’m retroactively making it so since I got his idea last night. ) ------------------- Scouting Report Match: From Pro-Wrestling Danger!! Osaka, Japan Ninjor "the King of Ninjas" Vs The Great Scott
-
Due to an increased workload this week and the fact that I've got a much more important thing to write for HeldDOWN the Ninjor Vs the Great Scott scouting match will happen next week instead. And I just realized that I didn't actually post what I was working on for HeldDOWN did I now?? - RECEIVED A suitable replacement I hope, sorry for forgetting to post this earlier.
