Yeah it is - Road Wild = Having a tooth pulled without drugs Bash '91 - having all your teeth pulled without drugs... using a rusty plier... and Isaak Yankeem as your dentist... and you get a $100,000 bill for it afterwards. When the last match is Rick Steiner & Missy Hyatte Vs Arn Anderson & Paul E. in a cage it beats any WCW or WWE PPV (I'm willing to accept that "Heroes of Wrestling" could be worse - I've never seen it)

Pot, kettle, black Since your arguments for him being able to have good matches with a variety of big guys is to list guys that are not considered big.
-
"one thinks" nothing of the sort but thank you for the condecending tone at least you're consistent. You keep mentioning guys that aren't that big and that are good bumpers as examples of how he doesn't need smaller guys that are good bumpers to have a good match. it'd be like me saying (pure example) "Misawa doesn't need to face Kobashi to have a good match - just look at Misawa Vs Kobashi from "so-and-so" " that argument itself shows that you have no grasp of what I am saying. It's not helping really going anywhere to illuminate how Samoa Joe has had great matches against bigger, heavyweight wrestlers when your examples don't actually fullfil the requirement. I didn't say he couldn't have a good match against the opponents he usually works with(Smaller, easier to throw around opponents who sell for him like he's a powerhouse usually) but you didn't get that did you? No in my comment of how I'm not convinced that he could have good matches against bigger guys you read that I said "Samoa Joe sucks" I say blue, you read "red" - it's getting rather tedious
-
Oh yes cause that's TOTALLY what I said wasn't it? I used the words "meaningless" in my post, sjesh. Now if you'll care to re-read and maybe actually take in what I WROTE instead of what you interpreteded my comments as you'll see that I wrote "One match, one opponent doesn't really show how Samoa Joe would do in general if he's out of the X Division and have to work with guys he can't just throw around or who can't be bump machines to his offence" Yes I'm sure the match with Kobashi was great (I'll have to check it out myself) but it is ONE match against a stellar opponent, not proof that he can work good matches with a variety of bigger opponents, it just proves that he can have a good match with Kobashi. Him and how many others can have a good match with Kobashi? that's partly my point. I'm not putting down the match, I'm not saying it doesn't matter either - but it's also not indicative of how Samoa Joe does against a variety of bigger opponents in general. It's like having a match against Bret Hart, it's very hard to have a bad match against Bret Hart even if it's the biggest piece of no talent in the world (which Joe isn't I'm not trying to imply that) and while CM Punk is taller he's not exactly cut from a different mold than the X division guys now is he? He falls in the category of small guys (skinny & light) that he can throw around and that bumps a lot for Joe.

That's because it's still loading the video there is a play/pause button below the video, click it and wait as the video downloads a bit more (you may have a slow connection) -
Trained Pirahnas! Bruce carries a fish bowl to the ring with him and throws it at opponents when he feels like it Oh to have a good comedy opponent (note: I've finished Bruce/Skull I can't go back and add the trained pirahnas)

Most forgettable stint in a promotion

Well from what I read they had pretty big plans for Shane when he was signed. It should be said that the Shane Vs Barbarian match that I saw was from an MSG show and probably not shown on regular Prime Time Wrestling, he was probably just getting some ring work as they prepared to debut him on "regular TV" with the Rock Star gimmick and all. -
Well most "traditional" e-feds do have websites yes and they tend to get hits through google and yahoo and what not. Some people see the forums and go "oh that's so disorganized" (it's not but to an outsider it could look like it) I ran one for 18 months off some geocities site and it was quite fun and successful while it lasted and when it died it wasn't because of lack of participants but because I didn't have time. It still had the "OOC" and the "Promo" stuff on boards like we do here, so it's not a hindrance that we have an active community and we're located down here on the TSM at all. in fact it's a benefit that we already have a couple of active forums, every federation NEEDS that to really work. The website would be an excellent place to introduce the fed to potential players, how it works, how you join etc. somewhere clearly organized to invite people in to try it out. Especially since this isn't the traditional feuding fed it's important that it's explained what this fed is all about. It's also a good place to have the stats and title histories etc so it's not a thread on here that disappears after "X" days of inactivity and people would have to search for it and so on. I think a site could complement what we do here, help make it easier to find stats & title history etc and if done right a good way to explain how the game works and draw in new players.
-
That's a good point, there has to be something to it beyond the stats system. So what would make people come back to the site and actually have a use for it both for new guys and vets?? Maybe have a show archive? I've found it hard at times to go through old stuff because there are just so many pages and pages of threats on this forum. I tend to go through old matches a lot both in preparing for an opponent but also to read up on the SWF in general and see what was rocking & rolling back then. A show archive - maybe one that was somehow searchable? (on say wrestlers names, stipulations, titles on the line etc?) that's be a great help and something I'd personally use a lot. I'm in IT and have done some HTML work in the past, I'd be happy to help with such a huge task I'd also be up for helping maintain it if you are interested. Btw. is there any show results etc that are not here on the forum but at IGN or whatever? If so the site would be a place to have it accessible to everyone? That's just one suggestion.

oh yeah his "Orange tights" period it wasn't long, a couple of months maybe where he beat such luminaries as the Brooklyn Brawler and the Barbarian - although he was set to get a big gimmick make over and a push but asked for time off for family issues and Vince just dropped the whole thing and Shane Rock Star gimmick or something like it -
As long as it's not something that he uses for every single hardcore / "No rules" match it could be okay - but the glass shard covered hands can be terribly limiting match writing wise. Have you ever seen the 2 Tai Pei Death matches that the Rottens have been in? Violent, bloody sure but mainly punch, punch, avoid punch, punch some more and that's about it My advice would be to make it a "special occasion" type of deal so you don't restrain the match writing too much. Already got steel tipped cowboy boots especially for Ultraviolent title matches I'm sure you'll find out pretty soon too
-
Thank you, I really appriciate your comments. It seems to be my "thing" more than a well thought out mat wrestling psychology driven writing that focuses on reinjuring someone's shoulder or the likes the Hardcore stuff has it's own psychology that I'm more at home with, I think I've made it work for me. And as someone commented a while ago - Blank is a change from the norm of the light, technically proficient characters that we usually see in the SWF which makes him stand out a bit easier so I lucked out in that regard too. and I will definitly keep it up (and improve it too hopefully) for as long as there is a hardcore/ultraviolent division. Thanks

Well since Bruce didn't pick the weapon but traded the Skull for it it's not necessarily a "southern" weapon, after all it's "The Crimson Skull's Most Deadly Weapon" (or TCSMDW as the US Guvermint' calls it when they search for it) so that'll play a factor in what it is. I've got a few ideas and none of them seem to have "history" in the SWF but then again none of them say "Oh yeah that's it" - good thing it's not being revealed at Lockdown "Ace of Spades" - how can that NOT be a spade?
-
I'd like to see how he does against guys his size... Yea that Kobashi is such a small guy. Terrible match too. One match, one opponent doesn't really show how Samoa Joe would do in general if he's out of the X Division and have to work with guys he can't just throw around or who can't be bump machines to his offence. I've got that match downloaded off YouTube - everyone seems to love the crap out of the Joe / Kobashi match I guess I'll have to see what the hype is all about.
-
Love the walk down memory lane *thumbs up* especially the 05 and 04 From the Fire PPVs They're setting the bar very high for the 06 PPV but it's always good to have something to shoot for and an actual Hardcore division not just "Bruce and the current challenger" but an actual division of guys who prefer those types of matches to the technical/cruiserweight type matches *swoooooons*

That's something else I was thinking about - if storylines are coming to a head, it might not be wise to have the show before MASSIVE FEUD BLOWOFF be filled with silly gimmick matches. Maybe instead of the show before a PPV, we do it at the middle point between PPV's. I reckon the show after a PPV would be the best slot, every angle is generally wrapped or just about to wrap up. Plus, it's usually a promo show with a few matches thrown in... perfect to have some fun with. Last two/three PPVs the show after a PPV has been a pure promo / recap / squash matches show with maybe 1 competitive match. Not that much for a guest booker to do I think a show in the middle Storm/Lockdown/Smarkdown would be good timing wise - and I know from personal experience that guest bookers can also take match requests/storylines into account as well so I don't think it'd be a huge problem.

Well excuse me Hawk for not having a ROHardon for Bryan Danielson but the man bores me, you can argue - you can insult my intelligence if you'd like hell I'll even leave it open for you to suggest that my mom slept with a barnyard animal if you should ever feel like implying that What I'm saying is that he bores the crap out of me, his ring work while crips and competent just leaves me "meh" and the man and his supposed charisma even more so. No amount of ROHbotting on your part will convince me of anything else. On the subject of Samoa Joe - having seen a few PPV matches and a slew of Impact matches it feels like I've seen everything the guy has to offer against smaller guys he can throw around. Yes we get it he's a Muscle Busting machine! There are no surprises in Samoa Joe, at least if there are he's not busted out a "surprise" in forever, he's a little too predictable for me to be a huge fan of him.

the online wrestling fans would LOVE him if he was the one that caused Hunter to tear his quad though -
I'd love to see either one of two things happen in the next weeks 1) Every masked man who "May or may not be someone we know" turns out to be Landon - even if it's a 7 foot character 2) Landon does a random Demonstar Driver to someone during the show and runs off (like Kanyon did with his Diamondcutter on anyone from wrestlers to a camera guy to a hot dog vendor etc.) *thumbs up*

Bryan Danielson Mr. American Dragon himself I just don't really find him very entertaining /ducks for cover
-
so "Fantastic" is 1) No "great matches" 2 an uneventful main event I'm sorry a polished Squash match doesn't make for a fantastic show in my book
-
Most of his Impact matches are like the same week in and week out and half his PPV matches are just extended "Impact" matches, I agree with the "too soon" comment. Maybe when he's had truely great matches with others than AJ & Daniels in TNA.

He was a job guy in WCW as well? I thought he just spend a short, short time in the WWF doing jobs here and there I didn't know he looked at the lights in WCW too. how one of the Dirty White Boys have fallen (although he wasn't a plumber so maybe his partner fell even deeper) I mean T.L. Hopper? who remembers that name without having to look it up, come on now honestly -
