The Bob Backlund heel turn on Bret Hart in 1994 - was that role ever intended for Randy Savage? The Backlund turn seemed fairly out of the blue, as did his ascension to the top of the card after floundering for much of his comeback run (Royal Rumble aside, I can't recall even seeing him that year prior to the stuff with Bret). Savage meanwhile had blown off the Crush programme and wasn't doing a whole lot before leaving for WCW. Now I know Vince McMahon wanted Savage to act primarily as a commentator, but to me Savage snapping and returning to his 'madness' days of yore would have made a lot more sense than Backlund (though Backlund was ace in the role). Plus I think the fans would've accepted Savage as a genuine threat and adversary to Bret. Basically, does anyone know if this idea was ever touted to Savage as a carrot to keep him in the fed, only to be given to Backlund as Savage jumped ship?

This was something Russo did right, make Booker a top face. Then it got fucked up when Nash beat Booker for the title two months later In fairness though, Booker did beat Nash clean to regain the belt, whereas the previous loss had seen all kinds of shenanigans. -
Now THIS I like.

Don't bring anyone else in. Dreamer, Sandman, Van Dam, Sabu and Balls are all most associated with ECW, whereas Foley isn't. This feud has real-life feeling in it and authenticity on both sides. It'd be silly to blur the lines. Even by using Punk.

What chance is there of the British sweeping all the world titles on Smackdown next year? Regal and Taylor look likely to be tag team champions sooner or later. And Finlay's stock is the highest it has ever been. It might be an outside shot still but who would've thought it was possible when these guys were jobbing on WCW Saturday Night six or seven years ago?

Yes! Only recently discovered these thorough Lazer Life, which I think is a fantastic record. Any recommendations on what to seek out next?

WCW in its last days had, I believe, the following under contract... Goldberg Kevin Nash Booker T Scott Steiner Rick Steiner Buff Bagwell Lex Luger Bam Bam Bigelow Jeff Jarrett Ric Flair Sting Diamond Dallas Page Mike Awesome Sean O' Haire Chuck Palumbo Shawn Stasiak Chris Kanyon Lance Storm Dustin Rhodes Shane Helms Shannon Moore Jamie Noble Billy Kidman Rey Mysterio Jr. Prime Time Elix Skipper Ice Train Kid Romeo EZ Money The Cat Chavo Guerrero Jr. Big Vito Mr. Above Average Mike Sanders Disco Inferno Alex Wright Devon Storm Mark Jindrak Konnan Animal Hugh Morrus The Wall Kronik Alan Funk Evan Karagias Plus the following were either working spots or close to inking permanent deals - Kid Kash AJ Styles Air Paris Rob Van Dam Tommy Dreamer That's a pretty good roster, isn't it? -
