You know, when I really think hard about it, I can't find a good, legitimate reason why I absolutely can't stand the patriots. This guy helps.

Women died from over consumption of water

Do you know how many deaths occur each year from dihydrogen oxide poisoning? Every substence on earth is toxic in some way and I find it very hard to believe even the smartest of people believe that.

Yeah, b/c everyone in grade school is taught to make sure they're not losing too much sodium from their blood plasma. It was a terrible idea for a contest and deserve to be sued.

According to John Clayton, Brian Schottenheimer made a great decision in withdrawing from the Miami job that he had a good shot at. Of course completely ignoring the fact that he probably did it as a favor for his father. There must have been political reasons, or he probably feels he's not quite ready to be a head coach, but Clayton said in almost the same breath that he is ready. But he really solidified his job as coordinator with the jets. What I can't understand is why taking the job wouldn't be the smart thing to do if he is in fact qualified (conflict of interest with his father aside).

    Campaign 2008

So who of the rebulbicans have confirmed they plan to run or atleast put together an "exploratory committee" or whatever?

    Least Professional

Yes...but the curtain call doesnt bother me. Could you explain what happened or direct me to somewhere where I can read about them? I knew some of these things happened, but I had no idea he was that bad.

Even if Obama gets the nod for the dems, there's no way he'd get the southern vote against whatever rebublican he goes against.

    2007 NFL Playoffs

No one is arguing with you there. A lot of retarded people say that, just not here, I don't think.

    2007 NFL Playoffs

That's a slippery slope. You know what I meant. Now Indy seems to have found it's D? Yeah, I don't think so. Indy's just gotta protect the ball.

    2007 NFL Playoffs

Coaches are directly responsible for players' play on the field. Faking injuries, poor sportsmanship come directly from the coaching staff in one way or another. EDIT: I was almost going to come on here and say I'm sick of seeing the Pats win. They're not a good football team, but they just seem to win. That's not a very sound argument, but there are a lot of people who think that. They are the real haters. I'm just calling it as I see it. I hate the Pats.

    2007 NFL Playoffs

That doesn't make what the Patriots did any less disrespectful. Maybe Belechik is at fault. After being a poor sport in the first Jets game, and what happened after the second, maybe the Pats are just a little too cocky. Belechik is after all the coach that would have his players fake injury (to force injury timeouts) to disrupt the no-huddle offense in a close game.

    Xbox 360

I thought the same thing, they want to sell the console so they can have people start buying games/accessories and such to make the money back. Kind of like when you get a phone and sign the contract, they lose on the phone but make money on the service. When they make a shortage they are just creating profit for the people who scoop up these high demand products and sell them through ebay. Unless Sony/Nintendo has a bunch of dummy sellers on ebay to make extra profit it doesn't really make sense. You would think they would learn by now and make enough, but they never do.

    Xbox 360

This question maybe a few months too late, but after reading through the first few pages, something occured to me. Why don't the manufacturers supply every store with enough of the consoles? I know they lose money on the consoles themselves (but make it up by jacking the price of the games up), but you would think that they would do everything possible to get enough consoles to the stores ASAP. Where's the hold up?

WON News + Notes, Jan 15 Issue

Who is this kozlov guy? I know my g/f would be freaking out as if I did die if I tore my quad in the ring. Women can do that sort of thing. I'm sick of WWE guys shitting all over punk. Just get rid of him. They don't need him (now) and he doesn't need them. The fact that the argument of "He's over, but he shouldn't be b/c heyman overexposed him, so let's not continue his push" is being used is the funniest/saddest thing I've heard in a long time about this company. He reminds me of Michael Vick (except more talented). He's a very polarizing figure, but is very exciting to watch.

Gwynn on the steroid era: "In the late 1980s and early '90s, we had no rules," Gwynn said Tuesday on a conference call. "We knew, players knew, owners knew, everybody knew, and we didn't say anything about it." If this doesn't cloud your opinion of EVERY player from the steroid era, then I don't know what will.

If there's a concern of a silly bias, then why don't we just take the whole human element out of it. These writers are voters because they are the most knowledgable on the subject. The HoF is asking for their opinion on certain players. I have this nasty habit of playing devil's advocate way too much. But can anyone say who's taken steroids and who hasn't with any sort certainty? Yeah, I know I'm going to get flamed for that.

Jayson Stark is now calling out all the voters who didn't vote for Ripken and Gwynn and wants them to step forward and explain why. As if those who didn't owe something to the general public. Yeah sure, on paper, you really can't give a good reason why they shouldn't be in the HoF, but is getting 100% of the vote really that important?
  19. hyperchord24

    Ripken, Gwynn elected to HOF

He only did it to get himself famous. He was interviewed this morning on Mike and Mike. This is just like the asshole who voted Derek 6th. Are you sure he's just trying to get famous? I didn't hear the interview, but I heard Mike and Mike just before he went on and Greenberg said he's worked with the guy for many years and says he's an up and up guy. Not that I trust every word out of his mouth. EDIT: The writer's name is Paul Ladewski from the Daily Southtown (Chicago).

I think you meant that as a joke, but seeing how everyone's going to brand him a failure in the NFL, I could see him getting the itch in two years. Oh, and I had no idea he had a pattern of dicking over contracts with the other teams he's coached.

No, not when you actively and vehemently deny any rumors of you going anywhere but your current spot. Art Shell did a terrible job and Mora was given numerous chances plus lost control over his team when Vick started bitching about his role. I don't know if anyone might've done better with the terrible squad the Raiders fielded this year, but they were an 0-16 candidate earlier this year, and it didn't look like he'd be doing any better than that sometime soon. What did Saban have to be unhappy about? All he did was bolt for Bama when they sweetened the money offered to him, it doesn't have to do about "loving" the college game or being unhappy with his current job, it's the money, which brings me to... Again, what indication is there that he had a problem with the Dolphins organization? He had control over personnel, a great owner to work for, and everything a coach, especially coming from college, could ask for. And we're not talking about what we might or might not do, because we're not NFL head coaches and most of our jobs are not similar to his in any respect. But when you work on a contractual basis, the given understanding is that you don't break it and you honor that to the best of your ability. You don't quit when you're trying to rebuild a franchise you vowed to, or when you have everything you could ask for but someone offers you a better deal and you take off. That's quitting on the team, and that's not an honorable thing to do, no matter how you may try to slice it. If you think Saban left for the money, you're sadly mistaken. He liked coaching college kids. That's why he left. Did not having immediate success contribute? Sure. Was is dishonorable? Sure. I'm not arguing that. What I AM arguing is that he owes nothing to anybody but himslef and his family. Remember that quote from Rudy? I think we all do. Oh, and as far as analogizing his job with that of anyone elses, I think it is fair because we all deal with the sort of thing coaches deal with (pressure, deadlines, struggling to succeed, etc. -- those of us with real jobs understand), the only difference is that he has 12 trillion people watching, listening and critiquing every move he makes. That's why I say when you or I quits on his job under the same circumstances, it is analogous in every respect except nobody is watching you or me. Look, all I was saying was people were taking this Saban thing way too far. That's it.

LAST WEEK. C'mon. When you're talking about being entrusted with millions of dollars and the future of a professional franchise here, and your very livelihood and reputation here, you should have more respect for the people who would give you that opportunity and honor your word. Noone besides yourself gives a shit if you like chocolate ice cream or not. There's no money or professional and personal futures riding on that. Get over yourself. You know damn well if you hated your current job and had a chance to do something you loved for roughly the same amount of money, you'd jump on it. We all would. No matter how many millions are riding on it.
