  1. So . . . is he going to be an on-screen character or not? I don't know how TNA could resist NOT putting him on TV now that he is booking.
  2. Didn't he have his own "christian" fed? Ring of Glory?
  3. Yes, the ratings should increase, if only b/c of the earlier timeslot. However, it's the expectations that may kill TNA. If people expect another ratings war, TNA has to run the home run angle, much in the way NWO was for WCW. If the execs expect huge RAW-esque numbers, TNA will be cancelled, and that blow could do the company in, that is if Vince doesn't buy it -- you know it'll be on his mind if this truly becomes a ratings war and TNA garners more attention. Initially, yes, this is good for TNA.
  4. It will DEFINATELY have an upside. Wrestling viewership was shitty as all hell back in 95 when Nitro came on board. Competition will help here ALOT for both sides. Wow. This is big. I've always said that competition is the only thing that's going to jump start this business. Look at it this way, DX has someone(thing) else to feud with. Oh and they have to be live. They would be stupid not to. They're going to get destroyed in the ratings, but hopefully they'll be around long enough to make the WWE watchable again. EDIT: Who is Brian Cantor anyway?
  5. when have any of the overhype of these "change the face of wrestling" announcements been justified? I doubt very much it'll match the overhype.
  6. So, from what I understand, Cena gave Edge the FU off a ladder through two tables? Two questions. Were they stacked or side by side? Also, did Cena stay on the ladder? If he did, it would've totally ruined the spot had I seen it. He's already viewed as a wuss, and I'm sure doing that wouldn't have helped things. On the incident with the two women ringside: It's perfectly legitamite for the ref, who's in the middle of a match, to think that he's seen someone spitting. But I'm sure the WWE is doing everything in their power to control the crowd. So I'm sure it's BS. Cena will be the champ until the Marine comes out, then he'll turn heel, of course, by the no one will care.
  7. So, what's going to happen after Edge jobs to Cena? The marks are going to go back to hating him, Edge is going to be buried even more, and nothing more can really be done with their feud? Who does Cena feud with next?

Jarrett beats the shit out of fan....

    Maybe if they're plants/indy workers?
  9. I can't watch Chavo. His frog splash looks horrible. His legs hit first most of the time.

Comments which don't warrant a thread

While I like the fact that JR put Punk over, this goes to show that JR, while claiming he watched the ECW product, has about as much clue as WWE management does. ECW, by its nature, was a hardcore fed with no rules. Every match was "Extreme rules", and I don't seem to recall people getting sick of them. The catch to them was that while nearly every match was no DQ, and weapons were almost always legal, not every match relied on them. You had your high-flying spotfests, you had your technical wrestling masterpieces, and you had your brawls and blood. Extreme rules in ECW should be implied, because that's what makes it ECW. Do I want every match to be loaded with outside interference, tables, fire, and blood? No. But I don't want an ECW match ending on a DQ either, because DQs and ECW don't go together. They can claim having too many extreme rules matches makes them less special, but honestly, it seems like calling the match extreme rules is kind of an excuse to overbook it or have a garbage finish. I mean really, do you honestly NOT expect run-ins when one of Heyman's cronies is in an extreme rules match?

Courtesy of Da Meltz What arrogance. So, what happened to the fan? Did he lose the sign, get booted? Did Todd actually point it out to the crowd? Why would he do that?

Jarrett beats the shit out of fan....

I agree with you guys. The angle would be okay if they were plants. However, they announced on the last impact that there's going to be a contest where the prize would be to be one of those fans. How is this going to end well? It's a good idea on paper. Fans hate Jarrett and not in an effective heel sort-of way.

I should've probably known that. When's the last time they ran a show at MSG? Oh and TAP, good point. However, if they really are super smarky and filled with younger guys, they will absolutely crap all over whatever patrioting thing Cena does.

What makes you think that it won't be the ussual crowd filled with marks? EDIT: Is it too early to start the ratings spin machine? If the ratings are down, it's due to MNF on ESPN (a double-header to boot. If the ratings stay the same or are high, it's due to the build up (mentioning the ME on last week's RAW) and the DX/mcmahon feud.
  15. I thought MVP and Vito were feuding, so maybe if MVP has a segment, you might not get so lucky.

That is why authority figures heel or face are so overdone nowadays. Smarks and marks alike just can't suspend reality enough to wonder "why can't he just fire him or why can't he just strip him of the belt?"
  17. On Moore/Punk: Didn’t I hear a few weeks ago that the WWE would be signing TNA talent just to bury them or just not use them at all? It all makes sense that they’d let Moore use a gimmick that the WWE didn’t come up with b/c they embarrass TNA and make them look like “posers” by using a stupid gimmick. Yeah, I know, I’m probably reading too much into this than I should, but it wouldn’t be the first time and won’t be the last. Moore is a reject from TNA and the one guy that TNA would love to have and could’ve had is calling him a poser. My god though. They looked like they were about to make out a few times there.

    Carlito Unhappy With Push

Honestly, who isn't being told to act like the Rock? The WWE NEVER tried to do this whole nostalgia bs until recently. Now it's everything they do. DX, ECW, McMahon as heel authority figure, bringing back SCSA, Cena trying to channel the Rock and SCSA in his promos, Hogan, the hall of fame, bringing up Bret Hart. this company sickens me.

Then what exactly is a lung blower then? (a reference to the fact that styles called Carlito's lung blower a back cracker, and now both JR and Lawler call it that. It makes me cringe.) But yeah, Styles certainly wasn't bad, just not what Vince wanted.

    oAo ECW on Sci-Fi Week 12 Thread - 8/29/2006

True. I forgot. As far as the chants go, on the average, they seem to be chanting right at the start, but then just sit on their hands for the rest of the match, but then again, it may be due to improper crowd mic'ing and dead crowds in general.

    oAo ECW on Sci-Fi Week 12 Thread - 8/29/2006

See, the problem with not identifying who Heyman's "task force" is that when they finally reveal who they are, no one's going to care. Tazz will say, "OMG its . . . its the Bashams!!" Then what? What will he say? They never did anything worth caring about or that the marks would remember. So while I appreciate Heyman writing with some sort of long term plans, I don't think it was a good idea. If the "task force" should be anyone, it should be a couple of wrestlers that the fans would remember. I really hate to say this, but I think CM Punk is a couple of dead crowds away from becoming the next spirit squad member or the Highlanders' mascot.

Honestly, I think it's too early to tell if it's X-pac heat.

RAW needs more Nitro. Never thought I'd be saying that [/badjoke]
  24. Yeah, I REALLY find that hard to believe Not saying I think it's gospel, just passing on some rumors I heard. But seriously, Punk has to have a MAJOR fan or two in the office. Since when has the WWE ever hired an independent wrestler, and then allowed him to keep his old gimmick from the independents? EVER? It doesn't happen, period, unless your name is CM Punk. That tells me he's got a major decision-maker or two who are total marks for him. Yeah, that's what I was saying. Knowing what we know about the WWE, there is absolutely no reason why this guy's made on TV with his own gimmick and in-ring name. None.

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

Anyone know how the Rock got started adding the “la la la la la” part to his “if you smell-la la la la la what the Rock is cookin’?” I always thought he picked it up from Mick Foley when they had their feud and that was one of the things Mick did to make fun of him. I thought it was odd, in kayfabe, that someone would add something to their catch phrase that one of their most fiercest rivals thought of to make fun of that person.
