The OAO RAW thread for April 10, 2006
hyperchord24 replied to Open the Muggy Gate's topic in The WWE Folder
Was it me, or did Cena’s promo at the beginning of RAW make no sense and seemed to just ramble on? It’s as if he was apologizing to the fans for what the WWE did to his character. Edge says his problem is that he cares what these people think. The funny thing is, you can look into his eyes every week and see that it does. Face/heel dynamics has changed a lot over the years. If you don’t care what the fans think, that doesn’t automatically make you a monster heel anymore. I almost get the feeling that Cena has less face appeal because he cares what the fans think. Let’s face it, playing to the crowd at this point is like rubbing salt on the wound. It does nothing for Cena’s character at all. It’s like when a heel Booker T does the spinaroonie -
One can only believe that what Orton did involved breaking a law or two. Couple that with what he's done to women in the past, it's not hard to connect the dots . . . Vince vs. the live crowds and the IWC -- the hottest matches of the year and by far the best feud in wrestling today. Whether vince knows it or not, a lot of people like me are watching WWE just to see how the crowd reacts to Cena, so whoever wins, vince will always win because Cena is such a hot topic amongst the marks and the smarks alike.

What the hell is with all these tournys? How many of them have we had since the build to NYR? I'm surprised they a)haven't had KOTR qualifiers and b)haven't announced that the winner gets a shot at the WHT. And 8 guys? Come on, they could've made a little bit more interesting, and capitalized on the March Madness, widened the brackets, put someone like noble in and let him go to the finals or something. I just don't know anymore with the WWE. These tournys and qualifying matches are becoming overdone.

Ratings from TNA's first head-to-head showdown with WWE
hyperchord24 replied to TNABaddboi's topic in TNA Wrestling
I don't get that feeling at all from this piece of evidence. The return of Bret Hart to WWE TV in any form is too huge for TNA to compete with. -
Can I ask you, what the heck was the point of last night’s main event? They KNOW Cena’s now a heel, what kind of main event garbage is that? Putting in all heels? Just turn freaking Cena heel for crying out loud! I don’t know where they are going with HHH’s character, but he is a FACE! The simple fact that Cena did his little juke and jive in front of HHH makes him look like a cocky heel, if anything. HHH did the smart thing, hit him with his finisher, and the fans collectively said, “I would have done the same thing too.” I refuse to admit that this Estrada guy or repackaged Jamal ever graced my TV. Just be glad that’s not Samoa Joe.

If RAW is from Chicago tonight, they better expect another smarky crowd
-
So everyone's talking about how the women's match finish was botched. Exactly what happened? Trips jobbing now makes no sense, unless Vince is doing it to spite the fans and no other reason. However, as long as Cena has the belt, you will get a strong reaction from the crowd wherever they go. All I know is, there better be a Cena Promo tonight at RAW, and that's really the only thing I'd be watching RAW for.

So lemme get this straight, they bring in Styles just to bury him b/c of his critisisms toward the WWE? Typical
-
I was surprised they had no TV build for their match at WM
-
Hmmm . . . could they be relegating him to Heat after WM?
-
I think they keep coach just b/c they need a heel announcer. But Styles calling the match while the other two argued was good. Now Styles is trying to interact with them and stooping to their level of comentating just comes off as rediculous.
-
Honestly, JR should've never left. I feel bad for Styles, but if I hear him say "backcracker" again, I'm going to vomit. Calling a match the way WWE wants him to makes him look like a little bitch. He sounded better calling the matches like he did when he first started. Yeah, he's on his way out.

So, am I the only one who thought the WWE ripped off Ron Killing’s video package? Yeah, Cena’s tough, but he sucks in the ring. See, that’s not going to fix the booing. You’re trying to sell him as a tough brawler who isn’t a good wrestler. Then why on earth does he try actual wrestling moves in the ring?? That just makes him look like more of a goof than he already is. Also, part of selling a guy like he’s tough and he never quits is selling a beating. Cena can’t sell well enough to make me think he’s taking a beating, but has enough to still keep fighting. What he does is Hogan-esque. Cena doesn’t exactly no sell all of a sudden, but his comebacks are, and the fans just don’t buy it. What they want to say it that Cena is a bad worker, but that would be shooting too much for the likes of WWE. Honestly, I’m mad at the WWE. I predicted that the second Cena got hit with the sledgehammer, the crowd would absolutely love it. I was wrong. I wanted the crowd to absolutely turn on Cena. So what did the WWE do, make him face by association. God, that annoys me. I thought that before Cena got involved in this whole HBK/Vince thing, that the only thing that would salvage the trainwreck of a feud that is HHH/Cena was to do a fingerpoke of doom at WM. I know the crowd would absolutely crap all over it, but in this way, HHH gets monster heel heat, and turns Cena, while sort of explaining why he’s not that good in the ring: he’s a weasel.

Bret Hart confirms he will not be at WrestleMania
hyperchord24 replied to Enigma's topic in The WWE Folder
There was ZERO chance of that happening. I would imagine Bischoff would be the one who really wanted that to happen, not necisarily Bret himself -
Do they really want us to answer that? Kurt Angle Fit Finlay Big Show Kane UT Probably Lashley There's more . . .
-
RE: how many people will do run-ins for HBK-Vince? Shane Spirit squad (I’d imagine they’d be part of WM in some form) Steph? HHH? Cena? Bret won’t. SCSA is a big maybe. If he hadn’t done that promo w/ JBL, I’d say more than likely, but you know McMahon – bring any big name from the attitude era to pop a crowd, no matter how nonsensical it may seem.
-
Looks like they want Styles out of there. I thought JR wanted to go. I know he should've never been replaced, but I thought it was his decision. As far as the GM situation is concered, I thought McMahon wanted to put off finding a new GM b/c he was having too much fun with his new TV role as sort of a GM.

Mickie James vs. Trish Stratus
hyperchord24 replied to Open the Muggy Gate's topic in The WWE Folder
Yes, yes it is. It has everything an attitude era feud had and nothing a feud nowadays has. It has great storytelling in and outside the ring, good characters and decent (as in not completely over the top) promos. If only the wrestling were better. Could it be that the women's division flies so far under the WWE's radar that it doesn't become bastardized? (Is that the same reason why London and Kendrick get away with so called banned SSPs?) -
The OAO RAW Thread for March 20, 2006
hyperchord24 replied to Open the Muggy Gate's topic in The WWE Folder
I don't get it. Vince is trying to rehash SS 97 to get some sort of crowd reaction for his feud with shawn Michaels. Everyone knows it's not going to work. Why was SS 97 such a big deal and remains to be that to this day? Because kayfabe absolutely exploded. People became interested in the show behind the show. This stuff they have now where everything is scripted and predictable and boring just doesn’t cut it. I guarantee you that if John Cena cut a promo talking about how they’ve tweaked his character, he knows he’s a flop now, but the WWE refuses to let him be himself, and it’s not all his fault, he would be over in a second. For any future success, I’m telling you, kayfabe needs to be broken (and not all the time, just once in a while to keep things, you know, fresh). -
I loved how no one cared how Mickie completed her heel turn. All they cared about was the fact that you could see Trish's thong. Good or bad, however anyone wants to call this show, it answered a very big question on the minds of the WWE: What would happen if HHH pedegreed Cena? Yes, this feud is tanking. You could almost for a split second see HHH looking out into the crowd after he slammed Cena looking confused and frustrated. It is cemented now. When HHH or any wrestler is in the ring fighting Cena, he will be a face.
-
Yeah. They do that usually. They did at Mania XX when Vince came out to talk to the audience after Brock/Goldberg. He talked to the audience? What did he say?
-
What makes you say that? Watch the Melina segment with her tag champions backstage. Melina has to take the rescent Muscle and Fitness magazine and masturbate to it. I'm not making this up. Wow. Out. of. control. Are you being serious or sarcastic? Serious. McMahon is out of control.
-
Breaking kayfabe a little bit. You don't jusy announce you're moving up to the heavyweight division, do you?
