Seriously, I have got to know

Sadly, I watch out of routine. Then I kick myself after I yell at my TV for some stupid segment or transparent booking. Vince is destroying his company. I know it, you know it, every other smark knows it, and yet I still watch.

Is WWE going to get any better?

"I'm Vince McMahon, dammit, and I single-handedly destroyed WCW and ECW." Yeah, no one's going to convince this man of anything now.

    Armageddon Predictions

Won't the blow off match be the buried alive match? Or has that happened? No, that was the casket match. I believe the natural progression is casket -> HIAC -> Buried alive matches with UT. Orton will win the buried alive match at the next ppv.

    Tim White's "Suicide" skit

We all know how great an actor matthews is. Someone's got to tell Vince. This hollywood bs doesn't fly here.

Is WWE going to get any better?

Let me first say that WWE’s first job is to feed Vince’s ego. That is the most important thing. Everyone who works for the WWE is either directly or indirectly responsible for this. History repeats itself. I think RRR as well as others have made some great points. Competition is the only thing that will keep the WWE’s product fresh. That’s why I get so excited about TNA because I loved the ratings war. The wrestling was great. I hope that history does repeat itself, but that seems unlikely. There needs to be an angle like the NWO. There needs to be something that changes the face of wrestling, and not just a Sting teaser at the latest TNA ppv. Vince poured his heart and soul into beating WCW. If he had things his way, he’d be firing Eric Bischoff every week and burying the rest of the WCW talent (that haven’t been buried yet). It will slowly degrade into this until TNA gets its act together. Finally, I’d like to say how easy it is for me to come up with feuds and uses for underused talent. I almost scream at the TV b/c I think I know better. I don’t know. If I had the rosters that the WWE had, all I would have to do is cut pictures out of all the superstars, lay them on the floor, and choose who feuds with whom, with logical storylines. No one in WWE lands seems to know how to put on good wrestling and entertainment, but they sure know how to appease the McMahons’ egos.

Why X division is not good at all...

It is what it is, my friend. It is what it is. Pro wrestling is what it is. Your argument that pro wrestling is supposed to look like a real fight and citing Rock, Austin, Hogan, and HHH is flawed. 250-300 lb. men cannot "realistically" throw one another into ropes and have them bounce back to them. The stunner is not a realistic move. The pedigree is not a realistc move. The People's By God Elbow is really not a realistic move in the context of a real fight. Hulk Hogan no selling beatings and then vibrating, wagging a finger, and then 3 moves later dropping a leg across a person that wouldn't hurt my grandmother is not realistic. Hell, most of the top promotions in Japan like AJPW and NJPW are more "realistic" in terms of making matches look like real fights than stuff here in NA if you want to play the real fight card. What works is working. If what Hogan, HHH, etc does works and you promote it as pro wrestling, then it works. If what AJ, Joe, etc does works and it's promoted as pro wrestling, then that works. There is no one set way to work. An argument I hear against Lucha Libre is their matches look even more chereographed than any style in the world. However, Lucha has been around since the 1930's. Are you telling me that isn't working? Working is getting the crowd into believing what you are doing. It's why Hogan works because I know realistically, his matches are fake as fuck. However, I am not ignorant enough to say that what he is doing isn't working. Yes, he and other guys who are monster over don't have to do as much to get a reaction, but that doesn't mean the guys flipping or flopping or whatever it is you are going on about are not working. They are just working more than the other guys. Is what Hogan and Co. doing smarter? Sure in terms of not killing your body, but it doesn't mean what X Division or Lucha or Puro wrestlers do is not working or some "stunt show". It's one thing to say that you don't prefer X Division style pro wrestling. That is fine. It doesn't make you a bad person. But to say someone is wrong for calling the X Division style pro wrestling is wrong on your part. Pro wrestling is what it is. What works is working. No matter where you are working or what style you are using. If the crowd is reacting to it positively in the context of a wrestling match and you are getting paid, you are working. This clears up a lot of what I've been wondering about working, workrate, selling, etc. Thanks. On topic: I was expecting the OP to begin by saying the guys don't have enough time on the mic, their signature match is screwy with the red X always falling, or they don't get enough TV time. Yeah, I was sadly mistaken

    TNA gets major media coverage...

Yeah, I caught that sportscenter too. I was surprised Patrick didn't make the whole thing look bush league.

    TNA Turning Point

Sting should've showed up. That was very nearly a bait n switch. i don't care if his contract starts on Jan 1, 2006. Geez they should've made it start on Dec 10, 2005.

    The RAW thread 12/12/05

Keep in mind that I haven't been watching regularly, so I have no idea how bad the E was from 2001-2004. The elimination chamber matches were very ill-concieved and predictable. There is absolutely no rhyme or reason to the way they book things now. I miss the cohesiveness of the booking from the attitude era. Anyway, someone on these boards called it: the STFU. It sounded better here than when Joey called it. Was it just me, or did the way that STF look pretty lame? People need to not tap out to it so quick. They need to hang on and add some drama to it, like people do with the ankle lock. I know the argument is if they tap out quick, the guy will look pretty dominating. But in this case, it just looks silly. He doesn't even have it locked in all the way, and masters and diavari are already tapping to it. That just comes off silly. It left me wanting more. Lame ending, I think.

Hey, if he wants the spotlight back, by all means, take it. It's better than golden boy cena. And if he really wants to change the opinions of the smarks, we could see something actually worth watching from him.

    The RAW thread 12/12/05

I agree, only with some cocky heelish antics, and probably a missed high-risk spot. Carlito will grab the tights or use the ropes. Shelton's been pinned a lot recently with the whole "hand full of tights," so I'll think Calito will go over with his feet on the ropes. This garbage with Carlito winning by cheating is so overdone. I thought it was phased out when the "authority figure" came in after a match like that and reversed the decision. Yeah, I forgot -- we're stuck back in the 80s.
  16. Not that I'm a hardy mark at all, but wasn't he at one time contending for the NWA title? More closely on topic - It's been said that Jarrett should go off TV for 6 months and repackage his character. Do you really think he'll EVER go off TV for an extended period of time? Anyway, he's been playing the same character more or less since his second stint with the WWE. Do you really think Jarrett thinks his character is stale?
  17. The ME scene is crowded enough without Joe. I agree Joe should be NWA champ, but yeah, when? What about Rhino? Raven? Cage? Brown? Abyss? Hardy?

    TNA Turning Point

From what I heard, fans were chanting "what a rip off." Strange way to end the show, with Sting not even appearing. I guess that's just b/c they want to spike (no pun intended) TV viewership.

    The RAW thread 12/12/05

Really. It's RIGHT there. You can have him come out, someone from RAW (maybe the new GM, whoever) says that he doesn't belong there and will be kicked out of the building, Bischoff stalls and says he has something to say, and it will only take three minutes. Cue 3MW, who assault....well, someone. Hire Rico back while you're at it. No, no, NO! This makes waaaaaaaaaaay too much sense for the 'E to even consider this angle. Jamal fits better with Cena . . . you know, to give him the street cred he so desperately needs.

    TNA Turning Point

So what, did someone come to the ring and announce that they signed Sting?
  24. hyperchord24

Who came up with that gimmick/angle?

Correct. Eric was in Japan for one of the New Japan vs UWF-I dome cards, saw the heat was off the charts, and asked why. Can I ask why? Was the one fed "invading" the other?
  25. This makes sense in WWE land. Too bad they don't understand that X-Pac heat doesn't equal heel heat.
