TI enjoyed that match but the problem is that richards has been booked to be nothing more than a jobber for a long time and yet punk still has this much trouble putting him away. This is not a knock on richards but it just doesn't make any sense for your #1 contender to have so much trouble with someone like richards. It makes absolute sense. If you send Punk out and he hits the G2S right off the bat, why would the crowd give a shit? Instead you let Punk outwrestle Richards and that gets the crowd behind him. This is still a wrestling show afterall. Otherwise, every match would be a 30 second squash if you wanted to use what you consider "sense".

He would probably get injured like he did the other times before a push. I think he's in the right place as the other Venia in the company. A wrestling promotion needs good job guys who make people look gold.

They interview Eric Byrnes on a boat. Byrnes produces a baseball that he will have his dog fetch (the dog is wearing a life preserver). You're thinking of Mike Awesome, who was a suicide. Awesome, Benoit, Wellington, Nancy, Sherri, Bigelow all died this year under the age of 50. There are other deaths but not attached to the "young age", such as Bad News Brown and Ernie Ladd.

I think MitB ran its course this year. The three ideal ways to build off on winning the MitB contract has been done (The sneak cash-in, pre-announced cash in to make a big match in advance and the plan to wait a year to cash it in at WM). Granted, the latter didn't actually happen but they set the story up. The only other route is for someone to cash in on the same night. You can still have the spot-fest ladder match over the tag titles or a singles belt.

The reason was that they didn't want to put the title on Burke or Cor Von because they thought Benoit would be back in a couple days and he'd take the title back, making Nitro a virtual fluke. They wanted Benoit-Punk as the main angle.
