I'd actually prefer heel Punk... I'm getting more and more irritated with the mainstream look Punk is receiving from the creative, starting with totally dropping Anaconda vice and moving to the finisher with the easy-to-remember name - GTS. GTS reminds me of FU It's not a WWE coined name. That's been the name of the move for quite some time. I never liked the Vice, either version from Punk. Obviously, his best finisher was the plunge but that isn't coming back anytime soon. GTS is a good finisher. The main thing, aside from that brief stint with The New Breed, Punk has hardly shown much stuff with promos and skits. Obviously, his persona is that of the wrestling hybrid but his greatest talent is his promo and his heel work. Although he is good at the babyface stuff, he's far greater as a heel.

He stole Kash's entrance theme, which in turn is a ripoff of Kid Rock's theme He went from Hank Williams Jr. to a knock off of the wannabe Hank.
-
Junior has been pretty strong about his refusal to be a DH. Unlike some others, I don't think he's willing to swallow his pride to boost his stats. Of course, if he has 660 within sight or even 700, he might change his tune.

It depends on what the direction of the company and the subsequent feud will be. I'd give it to Benoit. Let Punk chase it and after building that winning the title is that important, he does it when it would mean much more. It could easily stretch for awhile if you involved Burke, Cor Von, Nitro and perhaps someone else to flesh out the face/tweener side.
-
not if this becomes a hot feud. what other feud right now will have 2 faces going at it? Will this be a way to turn Benoit heel? I'd prefer Beniot going over Burke, having them fued a while. Eventually Punk chases Beniot for a while. Benoit just made Burke his bitch tonight. It'd be senseless to do a feud with them right now.

WWE might just Angle-Joe'd this one. This was the biggest match to appeal to this specific niche of fans and they just hot shot it to PPV with no build other then a face to face at the close. I'm all for this match. I just hate that it won't mean anything going into it but it could just as well serve to set up a bitter feud with these two. Also, yeah, that was a scary ass bump Punk took. He's taken many drops on his head, so he's used to it but not always at that angle with the force someone like Cor Von does it with.

WOW. They are actually pulling the trigger on it? I might actually buy the fucking PPV now. DH is right. WWE just did this to add another 100 buys for sunday.
-
I wonder if the reporter got mixed up and though the DD-Majors match was a dark match because it would seem that would set up the SD tag title defense on sunday...

Like Punk can even afford a limo!

It's still weird seeing Punk lumped with the other main eventers like Edge, Cena and others in these raw packages. When did they take out the Pepsi logo in the videotron?

Miz has greatly improved and I would be quite supportive of that direction.

Griffey is reaching 600 pretty quickly with his 19th of the season. Barring the annual injuries, anyone think he has a realistic shot at 700? Or at the very least, reaching Mays?

Sandman says HI.... Sandman is already established as a hardcore brawl guy. He doesn't have anything to prove. He's basically the opposite of Dreamer and Whitmer.
-
He'd be fine if they gave him a BJ Whitmer type role, which Ironically is a Tommy Dreamer in the original ECW role. No. Dreamer's fine for the occasional garbage match and the rare spirited promo but in a straight match especially with no heat offers nothing. He won't appeal to the crowd like he once did. Well thats about the same thing Whitme does, Dreamer is the prototype for the Whitmer gimmick. So just let Tommy go out there, brawl around the crowd, bump like a champ, then eventually get killed by ___________. Tommy can work that type a gimmick 7 minutes a week, and save all the big bumps for 1 10 mibnute ppv match, throw in a "spirited promo" in between, and boom you have a good midcarder. Except Dreamer can't do that. He's almost immobile out there. He had a good run but he's not serving any purpose. Whitmer actually wrestles good matches, does tremendous brawls, captivates the crowd through his everyday man charisma. What got Dreamer over was his character and connection to the crowd. Tommy won't get that with this fanbase.

It's Nunzio's tri-monthly appearence.
-
Ya know, I can't really think of anyone on the current active roster that could be the BJ Whitmer/Tommy Dreamer of old for WWE. It's hard for most of these guys to come off as the everyday fighter with the ability to win over a crowd on bumps and grit alone.

It's only a matter of time, in an effort to get Thorn over that they do a worms-leeches feud.
-
That's what the "producers" are for. Arn Anderson never had a problem cutting a promo or acting. Blame the shit writing and lack of creative freedoms.
-
I'm not digging a Punk-Nitro program right now. Of all the moves, Nitro to ECW was the one that made the least amount of sense or need. No reason he shouldn't have gone to SD with Kenny. Masters would have been better suited for ECW, which might sound like a harsh thing to say w/r/t Nitro but it wasn't.
-
Benoit basically just walked right over Burke in this match.
-
He had no choice. He also said he'd get back at McMahon for it and become a champion again. It's not as if he went "Bye bye ECW! I hated you!" Old dudes? Umaga and Shane qualify as old now? Looks like Jericho's KOTW pose but it's actually just Benoit's swan dive.
-
Yeah. He got moved from being the mid-card face stuck spinning his wheels to being the among the top names for the other brand that's given just as much importance and attention as the other not named Raw. Benoit really got shafted.
-
I won't read into the new video package but Punk was all over it and was the final superstar shown which has usually been given to the champion or the main face. So, it appears Punk and not Benoit is apparently the #1 face on the show, for now.
-
I still wouldn't be shocked if they managed to pull off two non-finishes to set up a Four Corners match. Although, I'm more inclined to expect Benoit-Cor Von as the finals. I'm all for Benoit-Punk but I'd like to see more time built for the match down the road.
