    ROH All Star Extravaganza III

20 bucks is pretty standard for a autograph, especially from a name like Bruno. I remember Matt Hardy was charging 25 for autograph and picture when he came through ROH. Also, Gabe said the crowd was "over 1000" and he's usually straight-forward on crowd sizes. Mark suffered a concussion and will be out of action at least for tonight.

Trump blew off WM on Letterman. He chose to blast Rosie a few more times instead. Vince can't be happy about that. Shocked Cena, Lashley and Ashley didn't do the talk show circuit this week. I guess they figured the replays of Trump and McMahon at the press conference was enough.

You want him going out and say "Well, I really suck in the ring and I'll probably tear my biceps trying to power bomb him, watch Wrestle Mania 23 LIVE ON PAY PER VIEW!" It's called hype. Every match is going to be "the greateat match ever".

Appearing on Saturday night might be a problem if you want to be an important person (thanks to the HOF, which wrestlers aren't required to attend but expected) but friday night is open game. Many wrestlers (not just the ROH alums) appeared at the show last year and at WMXX in New Jersey.

I don't know why people think Kane/Khali will open. These shows traditionally start with a mid-card title match or a tag team match (title sometimes included). Just look at the past decade. Only WM14, didn't open with a mid-card title match or a tag match. *While WM21 didn't open with a title match, it did involve two champion mid-carders in a singles match. That format would suggest that MVP-Benoit, would open the show with the expected 18-25 minute match. Kane-Khali is the garbage filler match to place between MitB and B.O.B with the eight man being sandwiched between the promoted main event and the actual main events.

Pfft. I hope the crowd verbally rapes Trump and Lashley. He's right though. This show will probably get a crazy buyrate and you can thank Donald for bringing a huge curiosity factor to this show not to mention the media coverage from ESPN, Today Show, countless radio talk shows and such. Undertaker/Batista, sure as hell isn't doing that.

    ROH All Star Extravaganza III

The idea is that those guys are the best fit for working against the style of DG while giving them size (Claudio) and physical strength (Romero). Saturday's card has 4-5 matches that could easily main event (It'll be Jacobs-Whitmer)

    Friday Night Lights...

If it was Dawson's Creek, it'd be stretched out into three seasons ending with the obvious conclusion. It wasn't DC-like, it was high school like. Smash's progression as a character has been good and Waverly has been a interesting character. This is one of those rare shows where you won't find a character you dont like or at least find interesting. The only character that approaches that for me is probably Tyra's mom.

ROH's Eight Man's are typically incredible and thats not counting what DG can bring. It is the main event as it should be.

    Friday Night Lights...

Last night was pretty good indeed. Actually, Bob, didn't Buddy allude that he was able to get a bunch of new trucks and really needed the sponsership (which I assumed was to cover the damage) and since he didn't want to draw attention to it any further, he simply got rid of the damaged cars and probably made up a reason for the shattered display. I was thinking Landry would show up and probably get his ass kicked but Tyra falls for his brave attempt but they didn't and I'm glad. Seeing Tyra fight her way out did more for the scene.

Why does he have to be a heel? Why is this so imperative? It's a irrational move done for no purpose other than turning for the sake of turning. Cena works on many levels and it's this current character progression that allows him to be so successful. People want to turn him because it's felt that he gets boo'd in some markets indictates that he isn't over when every shred of evidence repudiates that way of thinking. John Cena is over and is a successful draw who doesn't need to turn to satisfy a small minority and create a hole in not just John Cena himself but the entire promotion as well. It'd be like turning Hogan in 1990 where he was still over and making money for the promotion despite a vocal but small minority who were tired of the act.

I still can't buy Melinda to win this thing for the real purpose of this show. Which is why I'm convinced Blake or Jordin win here. Blake has that type of style that can play well with good production (most of which, he'll try to do himself) and Jordin, unlike her direct challengers and as Leena said looks her part and can perform. LaKisha has a big weakness and we can tell Melinda will struggle outside of her zone (which they have avoided doing so, thus far). Gina is a dark horse but I don't think she can hang around enough. It doesn't really matter. This season's winner will follow the path of Ruben, Clay and Fantasia. Modest success thanks to the exposure but won't be in that elite echelon as Kelly, Carrie and Daughtery (we haven't seen where Taylor will end up but considering it's been a year since he won and he's done is that Ford commerical, I think we can shelve him below Ruben and Fantastia as far as the winners go.) The story of this season has and will be Sanjaya whom I think will probably survive as long as Phil, Haley and Chris R phone in generic and ho-hum performences. He's a virtual lock for top five. Some say it's bad for A.I but let's face it, it's not hurting them at all.

    OAO WrestleMania 23 Thread-April 1st, 2007

Why does everyone insist that Edge needs to be undefeated to sell a match with Undertaker at WM24? Edge is the top heel and Taker will always be a top face. They would have dynamic program with each other and Edge having a streak of his own isn't going to make that better or more appealing. Would it be a nice Addition? Sure but Edge doesn't need that "rub" of ending Taker's streak or his own streak either. Edge is cemented main event star. It would be like HHH going over at WM17. As for this show itself... Here's how i have it going After Aretha's performence and the opening video package/pyro show, we lead right into MVP's elaborate entrance. Opening Match US Title Match Chris Benoit Vs MVP This will get a good deal of time. Not quite 30 minutes as some people have thrown out there but I'm looking at 18-20 minutes. These two will have a good, if not great match that'll serve as the Steamboat/Savage for this Mania in Detroit. It really could go either way. I'll call for Benoit winning here just because I think this could be a chance to put MVP over more by losing then a victory. Khali Vs Kane This can't go more then five minutes. It'll be a interesting sight and that'll keep it from tanking and if they do a punchy punch deal and kill the match before the fans turn (and they will), then this can be a success. Perhaps they will do some "sadistic" thing from Kane in order to prolong this into some goofy gimmick match next month. Money in the Bank Talk about a match that has so much going for it. We can eliminate the Hardyz, Booker and Finlay for contention. They'll serve a great role here but they aren't going over for obvious reasons. The build of the match has been Edge avoiding everyone and that'll probably continue at WM with Edge playing the chicken heel and trying to sneak his way. He finally does the crafty sneak in bit with everyone laid out but only to be stopped by Orton. This finally sets up the long awaited physical confrontation between the two. Punk is going to be the big star in this match, from the crowd and the booking. I know a great deal of people here never saw Punk before he arrived in WWE but he is a fantastic bumper and these matches were his niche. In fact, I'll call Punk taking a gusher blade job just for dramatic effect. Expect Punk to bust out some crazy tribute to KENTA with the ladder. Kennedy is the dark horse in that he could actually gain from this match. Does he need it? I don't think and either does Orton and Edge. It's Punk who stands to gain the most from this. It's obvious WWE can tell he will be a huge star and putting him over on this stage will go a long, long way. Expect this to go 25 minutes as well. There's too many talented workers in this and they can do some crafty things. Last year's version was limited because they had a big man in Lashley, a old man in Flair and Finlay who wasn't taking many bumps. They do need to involve Hornswoggle in this match though. Too obvious to pass up. LumberJill Match Ashley Vs Melina Will 15 beautiful DIVAS surrounding the ring distract us enough from the abomination inside the ring? Probably not. The pressure is all on Melina here and I'm not sure I trust her to rise up to it. Ashley isn't going to help matters much. Hopefully, this stays under 7 minutes. Battle of the Billionaires Donald Trump W/Lashley Vs Vince McMahon W/Umaga The levels of overbooking will be insane here. This match will be a well done trainwreck garbage match that the crowd will eat up as will the marks at home. As for a p.r standpoint, Donald getting his head shaved off would be monumential but the probability of that happening isn't really all that likely. Lashley and Umaga work well in these environments, so that is a plus for them. How long goes this go is up in the air. Between the two actual workers, it shouldn't surprass 12 minutes but given the hype and spectacle of the billionaires, it could stretch out longer. I expect Lashley to win with some sort of sick spot. McMahon gets shaved and a beer fest follows. New Breed Vs Originals This gets the quick time filler spot between the BotB and the title match main events. If they keep RVD and Burke involved, this should be fine. Sandman will probably be quite over as well. ECW really needs something big to push the brand and that is turning RVD. We've gone over this many times. RVD is likely going out the door and the best use of him is to put over someone in a big way and that's CM Punk. RVD-Punk is a gold mine program and right now, Punk is a top babyface for WWE and if they can use Punk to bury RVD out the door, they will. With all the teasing about Punk possibly joining, RVD does the turn here in order to "save his job" setting up the obvious and simple Punk-RVD program. Shawn Michaels Vs John Cena This will be a great match. These two always come up big time on this type of stage and they have such great chemistry together as well. The crowd response as usual will fuel this match. This will go 20-25 minutes and Cena is going over but the finish should be interesting. If Edge was going over, I'd actually do the double title change with HBK winning by miracle pin only for Edge to cash in on the spot and win the title but that isn't happening. Undertaker Vs Batista This is the main event and it'll go 15 minutes but Undertaker will have a very extended entrance. Batista isn't going over but the curious booking will be how strong he goes down.

Yeah, and House getting even better ratings is somehow a bad thing? House isn't going to get higher ratings. It's already a top five program. It was to keep people from turning to ABC at 9:00.

ESPN sucks, so do thread closers

Since that was a pretty big deal, they knew people wanted to know what how he was doing. Bonds is chasing a record, regardless of how much the nation hates him. Showing who is about to appear is a logical move as it informs yet doesn't require repeating it over and over.

I'm assuming that RVD goes into "cocky surfer dude" heel mode like he was when he went with the Mr. Monday Night persona? I don't think he can pull off any kind of a serious heel. That wouldn't keep him as a heel. He can cut a serious promo when he needs to. Punk would carry that promo war anyways. Well, he wouldn't need to stay heel for long, would he? His contract isn't too much longer is it? They could always morph it into an eventual "battle for respect" with the blowoff being a face vs. pseudoface matchup. No. Put Punk over at WM and then have a confrontation from Punk and The NB after the match (since the MitB will proceed the eight man) and tease that Punk will indeed join NB but it's RVD that actually does the turn. Punk uses the briefcase to put over that he will win the title when he's ready and won't blow it like RVD did. They already have acknowledge RVD's situation last year and if they can bury RVD on the way out by putting over that he's a dumb-ass and having Punk outshine RVD in everyway does everything for him and puts RVD down. Not to mention how the fans gain from that. I'm sure you're right. Knowing Vince they'll probably humiliate Rob 8 ways from Sunday then ride him out of the building on a rail. I've just always been an RVD mark and don't want him getting Jericho'd (another favorite of mine). Jericho left off a main event program with a hot deal against Cena. That's not a bad way to leave. Yes, he got dragged out but they had to do that. Jericho is liked by WWE and they knew he would come back or at least stay loyal. RVD? If he leaves, he obviously won't be.
