I got them ranked as follows Melinda LaKisha *Melinda has the advantage strictly for having a slightly better personality although LaKisha looked her best tonight. This will be a dog fight for weeks* big gap Blake (caught the wrath of Simon but his looks, charm and creativity will ensure love from voters) Jordin (looked great tonight and had a good performence that was, like Rudo said, very mainstream) Gina (put in a rough spot with this week's theme but still has enough to stay on the top half of the show) Phil (has a surprise strong showing here and his personality will keep him active) Chris Sligh (still has the personality and previous momentum despite disapointing showing) Haley (her looks and Simon's praise helps her) Chris Richardson (still has the teeny bob appeal to stay alive) Stephanie (paled in comparison to her direct competition) Sanjaya (Saved by the most horrendous performence but isn't safe) Brandon (He's gone. He tanked Motown. He can't recover)

Edge randomly flirting with the chubby makeup artists was a cute touch. They really couldn't include Balls with the other originals? Just get any other random guy like Grenier(since Dupree is gone) or even Knoble to join the NB.

It was a Disney movie, wasn't it? (At least animated, which for most people is all the same). Jordin is easily in the top 6 right now but again, such a drop from 1&2, 2&3 with the other three well below them and the rest are smashed together even lower.
-
Oh, shit. I spent the entire night trying to remember who was the other black chick and just now, after seeing her, realized it was Jordin. I guess being under the radar isn't a bad place. Right now this show belongs to Melina/Lakisha with Blake/Gina below them and the rest are muddled together. Haley avoids being last by virture of her looks as does Sligh but on the other spectrum. Stephanie is probably the weakest black singer depending on how badly Jordin comes out here. Which will hurt her since it's been agreed that the men blown and voters might just jump to ship her over. Right now, I can only see 4 people having a real shot. Jordin going with the McPhee sitting on the knees sultry approach. She's easily the cutest of the black singers.

I'll be honest, Blake at least makes me curious to see what he'll do to other songs in his attempt to stand out.
-
Kudos for effort and the mix but the vocals are still off. He was ahead of the other guys, except maybe Phil.
-
That's why I'm riding behind Gina as far as the girl's are concerned. Those two could just beat each other down and at the end, hurt each other while Gina stands out on her own as long as she isn't stuck with more shit like Motown. The themes are designed for the Lakisha/Melinda's of the world but in the end, looks and personality matter. Looks lack for both and personality is sparse for Melinda.

I can only imagine what song Blake mutilates with beat boxing. I can't wait for country week, so he can beat box Walk the Line.

What's with this crying act? Simon just put her over, to an extent and she starts saying sorry and stuff? Save it for when you dont have a shitty performence from the rest of the field to save you. I really do think Simon just called an audible on Haley for the sake of the show. Oh, I forgot about this guy.
-
Haley was still slightly better then the guys have been. However, the gap between Melinda and the rest is astronomical. Simon swerves the crowd. I think Simon just went "fuck, the guys blow. I better keep the good looking chick alive to salvage this wreck".
-
It seems to be a new tradition to have someone in the Smackdown main event pissing off the company at WM time.
-
See, Haley had the looks going for her but I don't think she has it tonight at least from that quick shot. Gina looked surprisingly good. Haley's key attribute might be in danger. Amazingly, she might just survive 3-4 weeks just because the boys blow. edit: Okay, she still looks much better. I was worried for a second. Diana basically just said "she needs production glam to be good".
-
I'm starting to miss Sundance now. He might have blown but him doing Diana Ross would have been priceless. Simon really wants to bury the weak ones right out of the gate. Knowing the idiot voters, they'll kick one of the semi-talented r&b singers off.

I love how the judges keep going "it wasn't the right song choice"...they have a pretty limited selection to choose from to adhere to your own stupid convoluted ideas. Make it more diverse. Spread it out to cover all Motown songs, at least. Or a singer that is diverse.
-
Fuck it, I'm riding the Gina Express now. Haley's the looker of the group but she's going nowhere. Gina, if she keeps the casual look going and doesn't fuck up will really shine against the R&B wall of death.
-
OK, why was he singing "Endless Love" to the tune of "Clocks"? As for that Fallout Boy comment... that fucking Arms Race song is in the Top 10? Payola sucks. Fallout has had about six-seven top 40 hits. Fuck, a fall-out boy theme week would be more interesting then the samey bullshit that is Motown week. Gina looks better in casual gear then she does in the dressy stuff.

I know this isn't popular but I don't like Melinda. She's fine but she has no special quality that makes her a IDOL. She would have been great in a prior generation but the objective of this specific show doesn't suit her enough.

I remember Josh Gracin and Ruben doing the same song in season two. Personally, I prefer Mark Burnett's solution to this on Rock Star - there's x of you, there's x songs, have at it. But of course it's done to help fufil the "reality" quotient of the show, so... yeah. I actually liked what Rock Star did with song choices. They basically made people fight for a certain song (almost literally) as opposed to a situation like tonight where they have a shitload of songs to choose from. I wish the themes for AI weren't so...well...shitty. It's the same thing every season. With Daughtery's success, they should force the R&B singers to try a hand at doing early 90's rock like Radiohead. AIC or Nirvana. They have been doing Whitney, Mariah, Christina, Celine, Aretha already this season and they'll continue to do so. It's not as if Nirvana is some unheard of musical style that the viewers aren't used to. (It's not asking them to perform hardcore metal) Besides the viewers don't care about Diana Ross. It's about the judges, the sexiness and glam. Shake it up.

I always wondered, how do they select the song? Is it by random order? Suppose two singers each wanted to perform What's Going On, does whomever was ahead in the hypothetical draw gets the song. I figure with over 50 choices, it's unlikely 2 people out of 12 would want the same song but the actual process always piqued my curiosity.

Not after the Hogan/WWE falling out... Are Hogan and Beefcake really that close anymore? Is the Hogan backlash that bad that they can't even do a quick Beefcake spot? I thought they were trying to pay homage to WM III. they can bring in Piper or Adonis instead. Adonis is dead. Been dead for quite some time. A real tribute to WM3 would be Steamboat getting inducted and perhaps a cameo role. He has his name back, so they can use it now.

He did a couple pre-shows and I believe one six man match on the main show but he wasn't a regular in ROH. He worked more in FIP but I don't recall him having marathon matches. Don't forget that Benoit and JBL apparently were having incredible long matches leading up to WM only to get stuck with a 8 minute match that never got going. Wouldn't be shocked to see the same result at this WM with the blow-off match sending Benoit to Raw getting that 1/2 hour time.

Ketchup on hot dogs over the age of 8 is a capital offense in the world of hot dogs. Though I did find a great combo, yellow mustard on a chili dog with diced onions...Thank you Pink's in LA. Definitely Chicago Dogs are great too That's a Skyline Coney. Although, it is usually topped with shredded cheddar.

Raw is in Indianapolis next week. Assuming Edge continues his politically correct ways, what excuse does he use for that show? If he makes a special appearence on ECW/Smackdown...it'll be in New Jersey. NJ probably writes itself.

I always wondered why WWF picked Bigelow of all people? He wasn't helping get rid of the stereotype that wrestlers were just fat guys and bad actors. He was a solid worker but not the best. Did they pick him because they knew losing to L.T would damage a guy's career at least for the time being and didn't want to risk hurting someone worthwhile? Not sure who in 1995 would have been a better choice from a p.r standpoint and from protecting the business aspect. Owen? He was a good chicken-shit heel that could have worked but would the media buy into L.T Vs a 5'11 white guy with a goofy look? The rest of the heels in 1995 were just the same as Bigelow with the exception of Shawn and Jarrett. Perhaps a heel Luger would have been better given that Luger had some clout. In the end, I guess it wasn't going to make a difference.

Edge is a dick and getting everyone in the MitB match at a weakened state. First by getting Jeff brutalized by Khali (or so his intent was). Now he actually sees Randy as a threat, so he sets up this match without telling Orton. Orton not being aware of anything, misses the match and gets taken out of the match. Erasing a threat to Edge. If Orton does make it, he's gonna have to fight Lashley. Win-Win for Edge. He already doesn't care what Randy thinks since they have split up. It's a good way of putting over Edge as the dick heel but with a different twist then the usual routine he does by reverting back to the E&C days of schemes. Asking WHY in context of a pro wrestling storyline is rather silly. As far as wrestling storylines, this is pretty much as simple as it gets. Edge is a dick. He's fucking over other people in the MitB match. Typical heel stuff. What does it accomplish in the long run? Continues to build for the Orton/Edge eruption and keeps Edge as the key heel on the brand.
