    NFL Week 17

Johnson just took a german suplex. Pretty decent form too.

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

Kurt, a guy who hasn't had a match that equaled any of Joe's three best matches nor has any emotional range beyond the "RAGE!" expression and the "huh?" dumb expression is beyond Warrior levels because no one bothered to care about Warrior except McMahon's lawyers but since Angle is still active and supposed to be the face of TNA, people have to listen to him.

Great discipline from the Bengals. Stop the kick return at the five yard line and get a stupid 15 yard roughness penalty.

    NFL Week 17

Worked for Dallas last decade. Only none of the active players for the Bengals are crack heads, that we know of yet.
  5. It's not just you, it's all over the place with people seriously thinking it was just a work.

    NFL Week 17

I'm confused by GB. NYG losing tonight would've made it easier. They were gonna choke anyways, might as well have gotten it over with tonight.
  7. Good god, are you serious? Why do people even bother thinking stupid shit like that? Montreal isn't JFK. It's not an elaborate situation. The facts are right out there and it's been covered in total detail countless times in the past 10 years. People still try to make this out to more then it is.

    NFL Week 17

Wait, they won all those games against only those teams and they might actually let them have the shot at playing in the playoffs? Can't we just give the #3 seed a bye as well?

    NFL Week 17

What exactly does GB need in order to claim their place as the best of the mediocre? I get the SOS, so which teams would play a part in that for GB?
  10. He thinks there is more clout having c list horror or reality tv show writers on his show rather then people who might have the understanding of a what a fan thinks. You can have writers who know nothing about the wrestling business, they just need to be a good writer period. Getting the bottom feeders that steal stuff from 1980's comedies for DX, have the inability to have dramatic and logical storyline progression or even character depth isn't getting the job done. They have lucked out with non-fans as writers before but with a growing staff of writers who are clueless and following their clueless leader, nothing is getting gained. On the other hand, TNA has and still is written by the biggest marks in the business. Jarrett, Mantell, Cornette (now off the writing team) and Russo? All have years in the business and they can't write anymore. It's a matter of being a fan and knowing how to be creative. Jarrett is too into himself, Mantell is fine for small independents but not a weekly tv program, Russo's concept worked in the right time with the right cast and the right machine behind it. Cornette is a egomaniac that can't adapt to changes. It's not about how much you like wrestling, it's about the ability of creating, continuing and being innovative. Qualities that both the national promotions lack.
  11. Yoko was 27. 27 has held the most winners (Studd, Yoko, Austin, Hart). However, #30 was runner up five times (Dibiase, Perfect, Savage, 'Taker and Orton)

    Royal Rumble tourny games.....

I can't decide who was a bigger "WTF" final four/five person, Fatu in 1994 being a low card tag team worker, Brian Knobbs in 1991 after being in the company for about a month or Mr. Perfect's incredible and surprising appearence in 2002. I wouldn't be shocked if Sabu, of all people, was the 2007 WTF final 4/5. I could see Orton and Edge in a corner with Undertaker standing alone and Sabu laid out in the middle during the classic final four staredown. However, they have done the mid-carders lasting for 25 minutes+ routine alot especially last year with Carlito, Benoit and Mercury lasting 30 along with the 60 minute men in HHH and Mysterio. Edit: Rando, I think Jericho did that spot about 5 times in the 2003 Rumble as did Rey in 2005 when he was being chased by Edge all night (one of those classic forgotten rumble side plots that people forget)

Which blonde chick....... Jen. The runner up.
  14. They rush Dan Rodimer to the roster with no upside but Claudio is a snag and he's back to indys after a number of farewell matches and canceled Japan tours. Idiots. Another Chris Masters bust instead of a modern Dibiase. Vince has a hard-on for muscular guys, that's why guys like CM Punk will get a small push until the fans get tired of their character and then it's back to OVW for him. Cena, Batista, Lashley, Lesnar, and Orton will get push after push until the fans will finally start believing on the hype, smaller WWE wrestlers or former WCW/ECW guys will get to carry the ball evey now and then but they will never be the main focus of the show. Punk's not exactly getting a small push and Vince is a mark for Punk anyways. However, Claudio isn't a Paul London situation here. Claudio is tall and built quite similar to the type of guys Vince likes anyways, especially Orton.

    the saddest song

That's more of a early morning or late night driving on a empty highway after a long day to reflect about things song. Hardly the "saddest" song. I'll echo the Cohen "One Of Us Can't Be Wrong" selection but I did hear a Bright Eyes song the other day that was quite sad entitled "No Lies, Just Love", though it is hardly the saddest song out there but just the most recent sad song that is playing through my head at the present moment.

I forgot all about the blonde chick. Shocked they haven't brought her back. This qualifies as the "best of 2006". Shit, Smackdown was half decent this year but thats not important as this random bikini contest.

    Royal Rumble tourny games.....

We used to draw a # and a name. If youre number or name won, you got the pool and as a bonus, if your name drew your #, you got a bonus (win or lose the match). A couple times, myself and some friends would predict "order of entry" and whomever got the most right, would get to keep the tape (this was before the days of DVR and when it took months for video release).

    Best of Smackdown 2006 Thread

It's weird watching the Rumble and noticing that a handful of the people involved aren't even in the company anymore or just not being used on tv just 10 months later (Dean, Psicosis, TBS, Animal, Jordan, Goldust) or seeing the old issues like Carlito/Masters being partners or HHH as the uber heel. So, the show focuses on Rey? How is that supposed to be good? He didn't really have that great of a year aside from a couple good enough matches and it was all idiotic Eddie bullshit anyways. Showing the rumble is pointless since you really just needed to show Rey flipping Orton out and show the title win instead of burning 12-15 minutes for it when it should just get up the title win. Oh, they couldn't show Angle for more then 3 seconds, thus the need to show more rumble footage instead of the actual important moment.
  19. That was because they just had to do the stupid Undertaker thing though. It isn't as if the Rumble not being the main event aside from last year was an abnormality. 1996: Taker/Hart closed thanks to the Diesel/Taker set up 1997: Shady rumble finish plus the hometown star made the change 1998: The casket match segment with Kane/Taker was more appros to close the show especially since Austin's win was so automatic. They could just as easily have another year with a title match taking the main spot once again, possibly Umaga/John Cena in a gimmicked match. I do agree that we need a creative finish again because it's always the HBK 1995, 1994 double finish or the usual 2 heels and the winning face and the dumber heel eliminates the other heel and the face makes a comeback and gets the eliminatin. I did like the 2001 finish by having Austin go crazy with the chair on Kane especially after Kane had been in there for over 55 minutes and Austin had been in the ring for about 4 minutes total (via the HHH attack). They need to stop having 4-6 people going over 30 minutes, it was cool in 1991 when everyone was in the ring for 20 minutes and especially with Martel and Valentine having totally different iron-man sells but when last year had HHH, Rey, Carlito, Mercury and Benoit going at least thirty and it didn't feel special. Also, no more #1 and #2 going the distance as well. The #s (27, 24, 2,1) are way to often used for the winning #s (these #'s acccount for 12 of the 18 rumbles) Why, with the exception of Michaels in 1996, hasn't anyone in the teens won the rumble? Its always the one/two or 22-28 spots winning the thing. Lets have #14 or #11 win for once.

Mike Tyson arrested on felony drug charges

Honestly, how has he not tried to get into MMA? Or has he? I think people could be sold that a crazy Tyson could murder someone in the cage. It'd probably sell more since it's a different situation for Tyson and wouldn't be the same old song and dance.

I'm stunned he hasn't just killed himself yet.

    The Next Big Wrestling Move?

What about a good-looking, convincing strike? Clearly, you're not watching DG or some of his 2006 ROH work where he has stepped up from spot/arial machine to a more complete and growing worker. 75% of wrestlers out there can't throw a convincing strike anyways.

I think, TSM wise, Baltimore/Philly would be the worst set of teams to see reach the Super Bowl.

    Rocky VI Officially Greenlit

We went and saw this tonight and I really enjoyed it. I actually thought Dixon was great character as he wasn't all that likable but you could feel for him. I can't think of a real negative. I don't think it was a GREAT movie but it was a pleasing couple hours and probably the best Stallone has acted since the original Rocky. I was surprised by his performence, to be honest.
