Really, what song from Green Day's catalouge fit the situation? None. They had no point in playing other then being a trendy act that ESPN booked.
-
Are any of them more current and trendy then this one? What's with making a week 3 game like the superbowl with the hype, big musical acts and such. I get that it's an important moment for New Orleans and all but I'm not getting the need for Green Day. Okay, I get it from a popularity standpoint and I know it's september and it fits with whole theme of "overcoming" something but Green Day could have done other stuff (like sitting backstage for instance)

TNA is already Bret Hart'ing this. A more logical way to go was a promo (seeing as it'd be his first appearence) or a confrontation with Christian. However, Jarrett pushed to get the first taste of Angle and to get the initial buzz. The company hasn't changed a bit.

I bet if TB was 1-2, ESPN would be speculating Favre to TB to replace Simms.

I see a spot with Coachman going nuts because nothing is going as planned and Eric waltzes in with his signature smile and quickly plugs the book and makes a "too bad I'm not here, I could fix this mess" type comment that goes nowhere.

That's nothing. There's a giant Jesus overlooking a flea market about 20 minutes from where I used to work.

We didn't hire a agency. That was my point, that I hired via direct applications because I could those people wanted the job enough to actually come down and apply.
-
Also, even if it doesn't say "Hiring", almost every company will take applications.

Iggy, is just one step ahead of WP, Carnival, Donnie D and Marvin in terms who you wouldn't want to be out of the cesspool that is TSM. -
True. Back when I was at my old job, I was in the position to hire new people and I only looked at people who applied directly. Not via online (we didn't even offer online applications) or through staffing companies. It shows more inititive to go to the workplace and physically fill out the application. It shows you have a direct interest in that specific job. It allows for the manager to get an early first impression of you.

Is the "family reunion" supposed to play off last year's HOMECOMING? It's about the 1 year anniversary mark anyways.

Yeah, he's a road agent. Producer.

OAO "Holy shit, Kurt Angle is in TNA now" thread...
Hawk 34 replied to Downhome's topic in TNA Wrestling
I think BFG is where he'll make his first public appearence in the form of a promo or interview. Maybe it's just reading into to much but it would appear Christian is already hinting at some program between the two, that or Christian kaybain' it up. He'll probably make his in-ring debut at the 2 hour show and it'd be wise to do it as a tag match. You're nuts if you think they'll jump for Angle/Joe right away. A match like that requires build. -
It seems that the only way Cincinnati will lose a game this season is if all the players get arrested and suspended at the same time... Dumb Bengals.

OAO "Holy shit, Kurt Angle is in TNA now" thread...
Hawk 34 replied to Downhome's topic in TNA Wrestling
I've said this many times that no matter where Kurt Angle ended up at, be it TNA, ROH, NOAH or MMA...the blame will still be directed towards Vince McMahon's empire. Is it fully justified? Not quite, as it's obvious that it wasn't just the WWE that pushed Angle into this stage. Angle, himself is largely to blame. While WWE covered themselves by releasing him and having proof of previous suspensions and breaks, the media's proverbial finger will still point at WWE. -
I'm not sure who you're talking about, but do you mean Hank Williams Jr.? Don't try to correct him on music. Don't put John Williams and Hank Williams Jr in the same sentence. That being said, I'll take Hank's song over Pink's mess.

"Embrace the confusion" "nineteen seventy seven-?" Yeah, Jeff designed these.

Well, what are you good at? That is usually a good starting point. There's always a job out there for anyone. If you think you are just going to walk into the perfect dream job, it won't happen (especially without a degree).

I was going to mention that and wanted to include a link to the story but I couldn't find it. I remember also reading an article in that same publication a year ago about the dangers of personal infomation being divulged in Livejournals and Xanga's (which are more diary based, as opposed to Myspace which is just a social networking device) and how detailed young girls were about seemingly personal things like sex on such a public fourm. I agree with the consensus that Myspace is unhealthy especially for young girls because they thrive off the idea that more friends on your list increases their value. Girls have issues with self-esteem already, they really don't need some internet fad to bring more insecurity. It also breeds new levels of stalkerdom, look how accessible we are to any person out there. I had a Myspace and I got so tired of people just adding me for no purpose other then inflating their superficial lists that i dropped it. I do have a facebook but I only have 10-12 people from my school (people I actually know, have classes with and commuicate with them regarding classes) and a couple old friends from high school. I just chcked and I have 30 friend requests and I don't know a single person. Why are people so fascinated and obsessed with the # of fictional friends they have on their lists?

You're supposed to show us the shirts here.

I really don't know if they can draw a respectable number of fans to an 18,000 seat arena but it is two months away and I will have to see what kind of impact(no pun intended) they are making buy then. Don't they have a working agreement with one of the mexico promotions?

Usually HHHate is overblown but in the case of Chris Jericho, it can sometimes be understated. It's the classic situation of someone considering another person a threat. Triple H, quickly found a reason to campagin for the burial after the Chyna incident with Jericho and from there it kept piling up. Jericho, obviously had such an incredible charisma and personality that regardless of his status as a face/heel and as a main eventer, JTTS or tag-teamer, the crowd still cared about him. Before Mysterio's reign, Jericho was the measure stick for inept championship reigns. Both reigns were regarded as flukes and they didn't have much success as champion. However and it might just be a case of politics but Jericho maintains that he is friendly with Jericho and there isn't any beef. Jericho probably isn't concerned about his place in the company as he once might have been because he always knew that he was the ideal transistion guy for the main event. He could always be plugged in just like Kane. What would stop Jericho from being shoved right back into the mid-card (which wouldn't happen right away) is that even McMahon is aware that Smackdown has a limit with proven main event acts and with Mysterio leaving soon and Batista always being a liability inside (and out) of the ring...a guy like Jericho would be monumential for Smackdown. The tuesday tapings (aside from the supershows) allows Jericho to have a more flexible schedule for his side projects. While Jericho would stand to provide a somewhat fresh boost to either of the three shows, he'll eventually revert back to his stale 2004 character and it'll be like he never left.

I also have to include the pre-game shows as a part of this and that's where I think CBS's beats FOX and ESPN. FOX used to be really good but they aren't clicking anymore and the at site gimmick to suit Buck isn't helping. ESPN has Berman and Irvin at 11 am and that's way to early to deal with those two. CBS has the right amount of coverage and they don't go overboard with the banter. As far as actual gametime coverage goes? NBC has quickly become the best at it and that tends to happen with a big budget and getting big names like Madden/Michaels, Collinsworth and Costas. I think two loudmouth retired players was overdoing it. Sharpe was a good commentator and I'd like to see him go back into the booth. I can't stand Bettis and his routine but I think he'll figure out that he'll have to move from retired rowdy fun loving player into a legit analyst just like Charles Barkley did. I don't like Costas all that much but he adds credibility to any program.

On top of that, name 8 women in one promotion that can go like these girls can, then I might back off. SHIMMER. No one in WWE, aside from Victoria and Mickie could hang with Lacey, MsChif, Allison Danger, Rebecca Knox, Lufisto, Daizee Haze, Rain, Lorelei Lee, Tiana Ringer, Cheerleader Melissa and Mercedes Martinez. (there's 11)
