The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread
Hawk 34 replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
The problem there is with Kane. What's Kane going to do to Cena? Lose? Honestly, Kane has been so jobbed out over the past several months, he has nowhere near the credibility to become a realistic threat to Cena. At this point, the only heels on RAW that are anywhere near a World title threat-level are Jericho and Orton. The only problem there is Jericho has been Cena's job-boy since November. There's really no one else they could go with except Orton. One route to consider is that if Orton challenges Triple H for the title on the basis of the McMahon Family connection, that would mean Edge isn't the champion any more. In that scenario, Raw has a wrestler challenging for a Smackdown championship. It wouldn't be a stretch for Vicki Guerrero to demand that a Smackdown wrestler challenges Raw's champion. Obviously, Edge-Cena have had numerous matches and they have all been fairly good to great but the difference between using this "overdone" match up as opposed to Orton-HHH, this wouldn't have the logical progression that Orton challenging Triple H offers. It'd just be another edition of what has been a long rivalry between those two. -

The main issue with the idea of doing Cena-Undertaker at WM isn’t the concern of crowd response. If anything that is a major bonus in doing the match. The real problem with this potential match up is that if you keep the title on Cena and wish to continue Undertaker’s reign of dominance at Wrestlemania, that forces another title reign for Undertaker that he really doesn’t need and forces the streak to become a focal point of the show since it would be a main event and not an attraction match as it should be. It is absolutely logical for Orton to challenge a newly victorious Triple H for the title at WM. Simply because the past 2 months have been built around Orton's drive to destroy the McMahon Family and that should include Triple H. Does it draw huge numbers? That’s uncertain but there’s hardly any evidence to support the idea that Cena-Orton would do the same. It wasn’t that long ago we saw those two involved in a main event feud, so it doesn’t even have the element of freshness. If these two are truly the future of the company, a WM main event with them is always an option. Edge-Triple is an even worse option simply because the last time around was just a few months ago and it was a disappointing affair. Triple H spending another month harassing Vickie Guerrero about her weight is hardly an enthralling WM main event direction. While I was a strong supporter of the Undertaker-Michaels match up awhile ago, I can’t help but feel disappointed that they will abruptly end the feud with Shawn and JBL. It has worked far better then anyone could’ve ever hoped it would, especially with a ridiculous premise. I do like the idea suggesting to merge the Jericho/Rourke and Friends storyline with Shawn and JBL. Essentially because the overall idea of each angle is quite similar and the quality of those involved would make for a good event at WM. -

Everyone is showing up tonight. -
I know that the general thread has a monthly PPV contest, but this will deal specifically with the Rumble match itself and all the little details of the Rumble match that it so unique. This list of questions will be identical to last years with the exception of a couple that were performer specific. It's a bit earlier then last years but the probable answers aren't likely to be affected. 1. Who will win the 2009 Royal Rumble? (5 Pts) 2. Who will be the runner-up (3 pts) 3. Who will be the iron-man? (5 pts) 4. Who will have the shortest time? (5 pts) 5. Who will have the most eliminated opponents? (3 pts) 6. Who will draw #1 and #2 (3 pts each, 3 bonus for accurately naming both) 7. Who will draw the most successful entry # of 27? (2 pts) 8. Who will draw the #30 spot? (3 pts) 9. What will be the eventual winning #? (5 pts) 10. Will there be any surprise/unannounced entrants as of 1/25? (no point value), If yes, who will they be? (3 pts each) 11. Will the endurance record of 62:12 held by Mysterio be broken? (no point value) If yes, who breaks it? (3 pts) and what will the new time be? (7 pts to closest time predicted) 12. Who will be the final six men in the ring? (3 pts each, 10 pts for accurately naming all) 13. How many instances of interference by non-competitors will we see? (2 pts) 14. Will anyone bleed? (no point value), if yes, who? (3 pts) 15. If Charlie Haas is a participant, who does he imitate? (3 pts)

Why does everyone seem to be crediting Rey with this move? Kendrick and Noble have done it in Battle Royals.
-
He was #2 in 2006, HHH was #1 that yr. Dibiase, HHH and Shawn have done it.

What about Rhett Titus? That's a total Sports Entertainment gimmick.

Just do it before the match. Also,

for what reason? He has a chance for a title shot by winning the rumble. If this was in the summer, maybe. Maybe this leads to Austin/Orton. Now there's an interesting set-up: Vince is forced to go to his mortal enemy to take power back. If Orton faces Austin, who does Cena face? Especially if HBK/JBL is the title match, that leaves Cena with nothing to do. Undertaker.

edit: beaten to it.

Dreamer winning the Rumble would just be a horrible move. However, I wouldn't be against giving Dreamer a strong push in the MITB match at WM.

After a long wait, I was finally able to see this film and it absolutely lived up to all the expectations and without question, Mickey Rourke was tremendous and as a whole, the movie was just great. I thought Tomei held her own and didn’t get out-shined by Rourke. She deserves the praise she has received. As a wrestling fan, I appreciated the honesty and I'll admit to getting a kick out of seeing guys like Necro and Nigel having those small roles, even seeing Bobby Dempsey on the couch was cool.

Austin will probably push for JR and being that he has top billing, he'll get Ross. Anyone who ever worked for Watts could do the job.

They can conclusively wrap that up at No Way Out. That gives a full month of actual push for WM and with the already established history between the two and the likely action at Rumble, the match has its build right there. -
I could see them doing a thing where he keeps trying to qualify but fails every each time. However, someone is injured or unable to be in the match, which allows MVP to replace that person with success. We did a fuller prediction game last year and that went well, I'll go ahead and put up a version for 2009.

Since Shawn eliminated 'Taker last time, it requires 'Taker to return the favor. Should it come during the middle of the match like last year so that the heat doesn't take away from the ending or near the end to really put over the build towards WM? -
All season long, the state of Oregon has been the thorn in my side and this post-season hasn't changed that a lick. I'm pretty sure that every defeat I had this season was the direct result of the Pac 10.

Even with the Honk-A-Tonk Meter, it might be Santino.

The problem is that Austin and Jericho have a horrible track record in their matches. Austin coming back for something not involving Cena or Hogan is a waste of a potential one time only event. If Jericho isn't involved with the title scene, the next best thing would be a match with Punk since they have done well with each other. -

The one man that's going to be left out of the title picture that shouldn't is Jericho, unless they wanted to revive Jericho as a foil for HHH and given his character changes, it would be a fresher option then going back to Hunter and Edge. The other option would be to do a 4 way for the WHC including Cena and Orton. I think a Hardys/E&C match is right for WM but not sure about the need for TLC. However, it's only a matter of time that all four of these men do another TLC match in their careers although they probably shouldn't with their injury record, if they must do it, it should be on the biggest stage. -

Different brands. And it would make the match the ME. Which it shouldn't be. Different brands isn't an excuse. Shawn makes the challenge. The McMahon Kids agree because it's a marquee match and Vicki allows it because she would love nothing more then to see 'Taker finally lose at WM. Having Shawn or 'Taker win the Rumble is a wasted move. The potential match at WM doesn't need that elaborate scenario.
