    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

I find this to be a strange selection when combined with the first round selection you chose given how similar they are. Also because I don't think Douglas was a hot commodity and you probably would've had him available in the next round at the very least. How do you plan on utilizing your first two selections given their similarites? Like most people, I had my eye on the Steiners but I was fully aware that they weren't going to survive pass the second round. When we dicussed the "BIG 5" as for the singles performers, I do believe the Steiners were among the "BIG 5" for Tag Teams. Also, in theory, Mellow also has a potential gold mine with Scott Steiner and Cena as a big money program.

Same here. They could simply say that Dibiase agreed to be a partner with Vince in a business endeavour but in exchange, Ted Dibiase Jr. would get a roster spot. It's the best way to debut him. I also agree that not bringing in The Canadian Bulldogs would be a huge mistake.

In other words, the Millionaire Club Vs New Blood angle that did so well for WCW?

    Let's Talk About.....The Hummer Angle!

Wasn't one of the long running jokes/rumor that Nash used to say it was meant to be Carmen Electra? What was worse? WCW never effectively wrapping this angle up or WWF using a similar plot and ending it with an asinine heel turn in Rikishi? At least the WWF version had Detective Foley on the case.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

I didn't expect those guys to be the first tag team selected since there are many teams that were more significant in the grand scheme of things. However, with the idea that you would eventually split these guys into singles performers, they weren't the worst selection possible since one is a bona fide main event heel and the other is a solid mid-card act. I do believe Edge as a singles performer could have been selected sometime in the first three rounds but the team could have easily hung around longer. This is the first "reach" pick of the draft, to say the least.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

There is one guy in particular that hasn't been selected yet that stuns me. A guy that could easily carry a promotion on his back for years. I passed on him because he didn't fit the overall balance I'm seeking. It should be noted that with the exception of Andre and to an extent, Terry Funk, none of the "old timers" have gone as well.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

With the second selection coming around, I needed to determine who could potentially play off well with my first pick (Piper) and also follow the same declaration of versatility that is crucial to these early stages. Many great names are still around but a lot of them tend to stick to a specific niche of heel or face. I’m still looking for someone that’ll be a draw, offer multiple routes for the promotion to use, while having some quality skills within the industry itself. Or, I just really like. This was much more difficult because the first round is about getting a STAR. This is the first step to establishing an identity and setting up building blocks for everyone from top to bottom. With these principles in effect, I sought out someone who defined those standards of in-ring quality, mass appeal, charisma and overall ability to work on both sides of the proverbial face/heel fence. A significant reasoning for this selection was that ability to perform but not within one specific style. This is a guy notable for excelling at two totally different extremes (so to speak) from technical brilliance and one of the great brawlers in the history of the business. His talent as a character would lend itself to many great potential feuds depending on who else falls upon me. Would I depend on him as a cornerstone for this promotion? Probably not but I believe his attributes as a whole would be greatly advantageous. Once again with careful deliberation, for the 20th pick of the draft, I have selected "The Funker" Terry Funk

Goldberg was one of those guys I was hoping would still be hanging around for my second selection just for the draw purpose and that with the right group around him, he was very capable in the ring. Vader makes for an excellent counter heel to Goldberg as well. I'll have the next selection up very shortly.

Which era are you referring to? Edgy and entertaining 1997 DX or the 2006 product shilling cartoonish DX?
  10. Big Daddy V is still recovering from obesity. Why wouldn't they keep Heat and tape that before SD? I would imagine they can move the Heat guys (Haas, Venis, Crazy, Snitsky, Duggan, Smith) to that brand with very little issue. SD also has many guys just sitting around.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

Many big names, talents and stars were still available for my choosing that all were very much capable of being a centerpiece for this draft. This great variety of reliable options were judged upon specific measures, from marketability, pure talent, charisma, draw appeal and their ability to provide a foundation for this project. A crucial factor in choosing the first selection was their ability to be as versatile as possible. The flexibility that this selection can offer in the way of their abilities in the performance, commercialization and support as a face or as a heel was a key factor in deciding to go this direction. This man is very proficient in the most important elements of professional wrestling from his ability to do promos, his magnificent box office potential, in-ring savvy, the charisma to obtain admiration from the fans and the unbridled vitriol that he can elicit from those very same fans. The direction and persona of my selection will become more evident with the future picks since he is so versatile. The chance to obtain someone who can not only be a star for this hypothetical promotion but also a cross promotional asset as well was too much to pass up. He has been an inspiration for many performers in and out of the wrestling ring, After much deliberate consideration, with the 17th pick in this draft, I have chosen "The Hot Rod" Rowdy Roddy Piper

There goes #3 on my draft board. I was hoping that he'd fall to me on the second selection since he is such a versatile performer.

It's not WCW 2000 levels but it's drop from what USA had wanted when WWE returned to the network. It's still among the top rated cable shows every week.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

I'm curious to see if everyone is using the first round selection as a chance to grab the biggest star on the table or will anyone use it as the first piece of a specific pattern of workers.

Everyone should make sure to include a photo and a brief explanation of the selection.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 5/23/08

Any chance they could actually put the title on Edge and allow for the annual Undertaker sabbatical? While Smackdown lacks star power as it is, I don't think ratings would be drastically altered by another disappearance act from Undertaker.

What about gimmicks? If I choose Goldust (for example), does that take Dustin Rhodes off the board for everyone else?

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

Is this limited to North American based wrestlers or is this open to international talent as well? In theory, you could potentially draft only lucha stars in order to create a stronger overall promotion. How many rounds do expect to do?

    WWE Raw (5/19/2008)

Nothing, people just like to see the champ go through the roster in 2 months. Don't put words in my mouth. When first thinking of how to respond to this, I figured I'd ask you not to. Instead, I'm telling you. People like to threaten to fight people for putting words in their mouth. That would be awesome if Regal won the title at ONS by cheating. It could be fun watching HHH try to get it back, but as GM Regal can keep avoiding him. It's been done before, but I think Regal would be very funny in that role. Regal and the WWE Title shouldn't be treated a comedic element. Regal's capable of providing comedy when he needs to but right now that's not the route they need to take. Regal and HHH can bring a lot to the table.

    WWE Raw (5/19/2008)

The match last night was an effective blowoff to the feud and it really isn't needed to be extended, even if there is such a short period between tonight and the next PPV event. Granted, the options for Triple is quite limited right now for One Night Stand with yet another match against Orton or going with Regal.

It's often done to gauge the expectations for a match by the potential quality (the assumption being that the longer a match progresses, the better it will be) and perception of importance.
