Nope. Just a completely awful game that both teams appeared to not care about in the slightest bit.

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

Shawn could just challenge Undertaker regardless. Shawn winning the Rumble is horribly unnecessary as Shawn-Taker wouldn't need some convoluted reason to set up the match. Mr. Wrestlemania Vs The Streak. It's already there.

    WWE SmackDown - December 26, 2008

I disagree. At least Shelton has established himself as a champion and wins the matches that he has to win. However, Carlito and Primo have spent the majority of their reign trying to hook up with the Bella Twins and have no identity as tag champions. Their reign only supports the need to just unify both sets of tag titles.

    Batista out of Wrestlemania

I still wouldn't put it past them to go back to the Austin-Cena match that was apparently on the table. If that were to be the case, that would leave the Raw main event side of things with Orton, Jericho and Punk. Also, wouldn't count out a Cena-HHH rematch.

Being in Toronto would've tipped some people off. However, the fact we knew about this just made it more fun.

    WWE Raw - December 22, 2008

The Rumble will always draw on its name value alone but they might as well have a stronger card which would require title matches. Outside of the first two Rumble PPVs and the '92 edition, World Title matches have always been a part of the Rumble event as it should. As for the build, rarely do the World Title matches outshine the Rumble itself. Last year was a notable exception due to Hardy being as over as he was and that the Rumble seemed like such an automatic win for Triple H or 'Taker.

    Predictions for 2009

2009 -Shawn Michaels declares that he’ll retire for good @ Summer Slam but when a top star gets injured, Shawn is asked to stay and he does, delaying his retirement until WM26. -Undertaker’s streak remains intact with a victory over Michaels, but takes his annual sabbatical during the summer and returns with yet another slightly modified version of his character. He will get a final brief title run in the fall. -Kendrick will win the MITB @ WM and attempts to cash it in on the same night against the ECW Champion. -Due to the struggling economy, WWE will be forced to lay off more production workers, office employees and a majority of their development workers. However, Bob Holly will remain employed. -Mike Knox will not shave his beard in 2009. -Rey Mysterio will be the lone major name to leave WWE for TNA. -The following are just some that will be released: D-Lo Brown, Paul Burchil, JTG, Curt Hawkins, Boogeyman, Zach Ryder, Bam Neely, Gavin Spears, Alicia Fox and Hornswoggle. -Despite a long losing streak, MVP has a great Rumble, lasting an hour, this finally snaps MVP out of his funk and he enjoys great success in 2009. -Edge wins the Royal Rumble. -Santino Marella will be publicly arrested and a video hits Youtube within hours. -Matt Striker is moved to Raw to replace Lawler. Lawler moves to Smackdown to reunite with Ross. Tazz moves to ECW. -Goldust and Dusty Rhodes get a tag title run. -Trish Stratus makes a return to the ring on a limited schedule but quickly turns heel. -CM Punk gets moved to Smackdown and is established as a top face on that brand. -Matt Hardy will turn on Jeff and they attempt to make that feud work again. It’ll be the focus of ECW for awhile. Jeff strikes out once again just before their blow-off match. Jeff is buried and released from the company. Jeff quits the business for awhile. -The Tag Team titles will be unified at WrestleMania by Miz and Morrison. -In a bizarre mandate from McMahon, he declares a no-new tattoo policy on the wrestlers. Randy Orton is the first to break that rule and with no action being taken, the rule is quickly forgotten. -WWE sign Rhett Titus, Delirious and Kenny King. -Thanks to his appearence in The Wrestler, Necro Butcher also signs. -Here are just a few of the names will be suspended for some form of wellness violation: Cody Rhodes, Manu, Carlito, Umaga, Chavo Guerrero, Ricky Ortiz and both Hawkins/Ryder. -Despite the efforts to promote a kid friendly image, WWE once again does a Playboy pictorial just before WM. The Bella Twins will appear. -Ezekiel Jackson will finally depart from Kendrick, in similar fashion to HBK/Diesel and enjoy a title push on ECW. -Mr. Kennedy suffers another injury in his return match and misses 6 months. Frustrated with Kennedy’ injury habit, Kennedy is released. Kennedy surfaces on a VH1 type show as a host. . -Kelly Kelly will enjoy her push as the “New Trish Stratus”. -Inspired by The Wrestler’s success, McMahon decides to directly steal from the movie using Marty Jannetty. -Marty Jannetty will be fired.

OaO Monday Night Raw thread 12/15/2008

About a year ago Miz owed the contract rights to Extreme Expose which consisted of Layla and Kelly (this was after Brooke was released) and while Layla went along with it, Kelly hated Miz and Miz treated her like garbage and prevented her from doing what she wanted (namely this was dating Balls Mahoney). At some point, Miz released Kelly (or it was just dropped altogether). So, we are to assume that Kelly used this as a way to get back at him.

Even if VT won the ACC conference, they shouldn't get a BCS spot over more deserving teams.

    The Shield

I believe the Dutch character was given permission to be used on another tv show, if Karnes wants to revive it. As for the finale, it was a beautiful and poignant episode. The final two episodes this season might possibly go down as the greatest 1-2 punch in The Shield's remarkable run. I appreciated that despite the chaotic nature of this show, they found time for Tina to have her own moment. Speaking of which, why wait for the very last episode to introduce what could have been a pretty good threat to Aceveda? Most TV shows go out limping and fail to provide a proper conclusion after a long run but The Shield nailed it.

    2008 Bowl Bubble #3

That's because there's no chance the Sugar Bowl would pass on a bigger team for Cincinnati unless the doomsday scenario happens and I can't even see them taking Cincinnati in that case.

    2008 Bowl Bubble #3

Whoever emerges from the mess that is the ACC. Cincy isn't locked for the Orange Bowl, they could up in the Sugar but that isn't likely. Of course, they still have to beat Syracuse and we've learned that isn't as automatic as assumed.
  22. Drop the act. A great majority of the ROH fans are quite aware that the talent would happily take a chance to wrestle in the top promotion for a variety of reasons, but there are the select few that go against that thinking, just the same as the hardcore WWE fans would refuse that a wrestler could be unhappy working for the biggest promotion in the world. Let’s talk about Friday night’s show in Dayton which has been treated with harsh criticism regarding the quality of the show, the booking and in general, the market’s treatment from the company. Over the past year while Nigel has been tremendous and doing a good job of being a complete heel in a audience that will make it a difficult task to accomplish, there has been one distinct market that has revered McGuinness. That is Dayton, which has long been regarded as Nigel’s “second home”. The previous two shows were centered on that very premise; he was showcased as a baby face in this market. So, for these people, they have been conditioned to accept Nigel as the face regardless of the booking direction. On Friday night, Nigel completely goes away from that and is a complete heel, to the point he calls the town a shit-hole (which is quite true). That’s perfectly within reason for a heel to do, it’s the standard routine and Nigel does it quite well. However, it wasn’t the place to do it. Myself, I didn’t have a problem, I accept Nigel as that type of persona but the majority of the crowd doesn’t. I've been to a great deal of ROH events and I'll say that it was without question, the worst one of them all. That's fine because not every show will be a classic show especially with the booking and the effort given to this show. However, the PPV taping in Chicago was a fantastic show with a strong emphasis shown to how far the company has grown from the small rec center in Philadelphia. It was impressive to see the professional camera crew around the building, including the camera crane. That's essential for a promotion looking to capture and maintain a mainstream audience. Any of the three main events (Danielson/Nigel, I Quit and Joe-Black) were enough to sell the show alone as each one of them were simply fantastic in very distinctive ways. After the rocky start to the new regime in ROH and questionable direction, this show served to show that when it counts, they still pull of a big hit.
