  1. Matt, probably takes the big bump of the night. As Benjamin, RVD and Lashley are too important. Flair is too old to take more then just one big bump and Finlay shouldn't be doing anything but ass-kicking.
  2. Pretty much. The SD guys aren't ME level and at least RVD/Flair are over enough to justify getting a title shot.

    2006 NFL Off-Season

What a surprise The opening game for the NFL will be Pittsburgh(home) against Miami, on Thursday night airing on NBC Manning Bowl I will occur on NBC's first Sunday Night Game (in NY). Minnesota/Washington and San Diego/Oakland are the doubleheader opener for MNF (ESPN) They have added a third game to the Thanksgiving tradition... Dallas will host Tampa, Miami plays in Detroit and The Broncos/Chiefs (NFL Network), It's not that unusual for KC to host a Thanksgiving game, as they used to during the AFL days. It's also the first live game on NFLN.

Bret Hart confirms he will not be at WrestleMania

I'll have to be honest, Porter ... I was just being a smartass and C&P'ing that post because you said that you wouldn't read it since it was by chaos. It's not necessarily my real feelings. In my eyes, this is a chance for everyone to prove how they really feel about the whole situation. If Michaels' really does want to distance himself from the whole screwjob, he has a perfect chance to put his money where his mouth is and to not be at the ceremony, or if he is at the ceremony, to NOT fuck around with Hart. If Hart really wants to thank his fans for everything, he has a chance to give his speech and then be done with it. He can even go as far as to specify that he won't be at WM and that he has nothing to do with the Michaels/Vince storyline. And Vince, well ... I guess I have no idea what Vince has to prove. He's already proven that he's not over the whole Montreal incident, and doesn't really want to be. I guess this is his chance to start cleansing his image. Vince, would prove to himself and only himself that he got Bret to do something with the WWE. In his mind, he will assume Bret groveled to Vince McMahon.

    Wrestlemania

It reminds me of Summerslam 2000. The main event was bulit around the Triple H/Angle/Steph angle and Rock was in the match simply because he was the WWF Champion. However, people actually cared about that match and it pretty much became another Rock/Triple H match after Angle was knocked silly. Well, Rock still had beef with Triple H during the time. They just so happened to have Angle/HHH as the main focus. Angle, has no issue with either man. He really isn't needed for the whole thing, the champion shouldn't be a third wheel or the afterthought. They should have just slapped the title on Orton instead once Batista dropped it. Then, have Orton start the Eddy mockery (which WWE was going to do no matter what) and then have Rey win the rumble, only eliminating Angle instead of Orton. Angle, with a nastier streak then ever could have challenged Undertaker and they could have done Angle/Taker for Mania. Instead, we get Angle stuck in match as a third wheel and a idiotic casket match (the casket match, almost kills any upside that Henry/Taker had).
  8. Simmons, has been signed with the company for over an year now.

I wonder if Bret will bring his wife with him, I wouldn't. Who'd let their beautiful young wife meet a bunch of scummy jerks from your former life.

Question of the Week: Vince and Montreal

Bret, would entertain the idea. He would like to see Vince squirm and beg some more, he probably gets more satisfaction out of knowing that it's Vince doing what all the other old timers do to Vince, then he would appearing on WWE tv. Bret, is probably the only former employee that Vince will actually personally (behind doors) beg. Aside from Bruno, of course.

If my memory serves correctly, I thought Dallas had the column and Blade was the younger blonde son, that resembled Owen more then Bret. here is a recent picture of Bret and Blade (set in 2001) So, I would take from that...Dallas was the son who wrote for WWF Magazine.

    Wrestlemania

Here is the difference between JBL/Cena and Cena/HHH. The build-up was better for XXI as JBL was a complete heel and they basically set it up that Cena would march in and take that title from him. JBL, was the dick heel and Cena, was the cool babyface who wanted to stop his reign of terror. Easy set up and they delivered on that with a quick virtual squash. Triple H, has not been a good heel in this program and Cena, instead of looking like the confident babyface, even put over Triple H in promo fashion. The match will not be a short squash match, it won't be the 12-15 minute match it needs to be. It will probably go 20-25 minutes because of Triple H's fixation on longer matches because he believes that makes it a better match. HHH/Batista, had a MUCH better build then the idiotic Mysterio/Orton/The other guy who happens to have the title. Really, they should have just done Mysterio/Orton straight up without Angle involved. Angle, shouldn't be the third wheel in this match considering he is the champion. It's all built so that Rey pins Orton to win the title. So what does Angle get? A transition reign to another babyface when he doesn't get pinned and wasn't even involved in the main story of the match. HHH/Batista wasn't a horrible match, but like I said eariler...Triple H's infatuation with longer matches damaged the quality. The triple threat might be good but it won't be incredible. WM21 had a better cast for the MITB match (Benoit, Edge, Jericho, Benjamin, Kane and Christian) because MITB2 only has 2 realistic winners, Flair and RVD. Mickie/Trish, easily trumps Trish/Christy in both value and potential quality. Not to mention a much better storyline. WM22 doesn't have a match that shouts "WM Classic". This show might have to depend on specific moments or hope something goes right. It might be WM11 levels, where the best match is a average performence and has zero special moments. It's best hopes is for a WM13 duplication, where one match truly makes it a worthy event.

Bret Hart confirms he will not be at WrestleMania

That has to be a nickname, Dallas, Jade and Blade are fairly fine names that are even somewhat original. If not, Beans is right there with Apple for idiotic names for kids. Poor Harry though, you know he's going to have Johnny Ace all over him telling him "it's time for you come home, where you belong". I'm curious to see how Dallas, has grown up since he was a prominent figure for WWE in the mid 90's with his own magazina column and a part of the Shawn/Hart storyline (where Bret resented Shawn because he was a bad role model for Dallas, who was a fan of Shawn's). I remember Dallas, was often vocal about his expectations to be a tag team with Harry. Harry, of course went on to pursue that career. I don't know what Dallas did.

    Driver Killed in IRL practice

There's no logical reason for Dana to not known to slow down. He had warnings from his spotter, crew and the caution lights were on instantly. There's no signs that his brakes weren't on because he did apply the brakes before impact and the fact he applied the brakes indicate that he saw the parked car, and should have avoided the car. The cars around him that he passed had slowed down already as well. I doubt that Paul Dana froze because you don't get in a 230 MPH car and freeze up. Some point to his inexpierence but he wasn't some kid in a car for the first time. It was an horrible accident and it's a blessing that Carpenter survived without injury. We don't need to examine the dangers of the sport, that's been covered and every driver accepts it. For every saftey precaution (most of the recent saftey changes have shown to be succesful in doing their job), you still cant defeat the odds that eventually, driving 200+ mph with tight corners and high banks will kill someone. What makes this one sad is that it was a smart young man (journalism major) with unlimited potential seeing that dream snuffed out hours before he could reach it and the fact we will probably never figure out what caused his accident will make this a sadder case then usual.
  16. Having a good match with Eddie Guerrero and a spotfest with Shane McMahon, is all Test had to show for his capability for good matches. That's a span of 6 years he was working with. He had a hot character in late 1999 but that was pissed on and it was right there, that Test was forever stuck in perpetual mid-card/tag team hell. He had a one night resurgance when WWE pulled a creative rarity and made Test look like a bigger star then Rock, Angle, Foley and Triple H all in one segment. They buried him later that night.

    The Sopranos-Season 6

I was thinking, he could have been on the cusp of hell instead. The first person that he meets when he arrives to the house, was the last person he killed (that we're aware of). I mean you can interprete it either way and it still works. We'll probably get another clue or maybe a closer look at tonight's episode can solve it...

Bret Hart confirms he will not be at WrestleMania

There was ZERO chance of that happening. I've read, or heard somewhere, out of Bret's mouth, he was going to do it, because he was offered a lot of money to do so, and was already angry with Vince and company. Every shred of evidence points that Bret never had that intention and even Eric Bischoff supports against that idea was suggested. It would have been a massive legal lawsuit that Turner wasn't going to back. It was a hoax, created by McMahon-supporters to paint Vince in a positive light and make it look like Vince had no choice in the matter. The difference between Medusa and Bret? Medusa, wasn't under contract...and because of that incident certain actions against WCW were taken.

Bret Hart confirms he will not be at WrestleMania

Bret was still wrestling for WWE during the first and second HOF induction ceremonies. Where is Bret being an emo-bitch? He doesn't want Shawn's presence to be there for what he intends to be his goodbye and thank you for all his fans. Give up your pipe dreams that Bret will do something for Mania because he won't. Nor should he, the only person who wins with that is Vince. Regardless of what Bret does, appear at Mania (which he won't) or if does show up...Vince will still exploit Montreal because it's what he thinks he has to do. Bret has nothing to gain from playing into McMahon's games. He wants to do the speech and not place himself into a situation where Vince takes advantage of Montreal for his own gain. Why would you even want to see Vince further sink to lows for another cheap moment by doing something to Bret? We have seen that crap for the last 9 years as Vince desperately attempts to recapture that night or to outright mock it, despite being the one who is still hung up on it as much as Bret (who has that right to be hung up on it). Bret went a new direction in his life, a new wife and family. A new career. Vince is still stuck in a moment he can't get out of. Saturday night, should be the final chapter. It won't be, Vince McMahon can't close the book.

    The Sopranos-Season 6

AJ, has some serious issues. I'd be curious to see if Tony plays Kevin for the rest of the season. It'd be interesting to see if they can have a whole season without the normal Tony Soprano. They did say before the season started, this season would focus on the other family members more. Vito, is looking to make a heel turn of sorts. I like how everyone hates giving Carm the money. Six seasons, and now Sil has allergies? When this show goes off the air, I want a Paulie Walnuts spin-off. *Note to self- If ever in a coma, don't let Paulie watch me. (love the spin-job he pulled in the lobby) Oh, man. They continue with the mind-fucking. God, Vito is such a heel now. Pretty solid episode as they are setting things up. Silvo got a taste of the power, only to find he doesn't like it/cant handle it. Christopher is making moves again outside the business, Paulie is growing more frustrated and Vito, outright planned to take over the boss and acting boss as he cospires with NY. AJ approaches insanity at a faster pace...

    College Hoops: The Regionals

Well, UCLA/LSU isn't a marquee game although UCLA is a marquee name. GMU/Florida, isn't a sizzling as GMU/Villanova would have been (with the obvious story). If interest in the G. Mason run can stay steady and they remain lovable and I can't see them not being able to, you get a game with potential in all environments from the play itself, national interest and ratings power. You might ask "Why does ratings matter?", usually it doesn't. If it was UCONN/UCLA title game, it's basically thrown out the door. The ratings game becomes important in this case with George Mason because it will be a huge opportunity to gauge the legitimate interest in mid-major teams. If ratings increased compared to 2005's semi-final games, it points that people do want to see mid-majors and buy into the cinderella concept. That would be important for the future, in terms of networks potentially increasing coverage of the mid-major conferences. That's why the marquee value of the final four is something to watch.

Question of the Week: Vince and Montreal

Like I said in one of the many threads (so it seems) regarding Bret's involvement in HOF and his lack-therof @ WM. Bret knows like all of us that Vince can't let go of it. Bret can come to Mania, completely get involved with McMahon's match and put the figurative nail in the coffin. The crowd will eat it up and it'd be the talk for weeks, if not months across the internet. That'd be Vince's cue in his demented mind that Montreal still has legs, that he can still try to exploit something that happened 10 years ago because he has no creative outlet inside him anymore and that's why he keeps falling back on Montreal.

    College Hoops: The Regionals

What a game and what a finish. How CLOSE was that last shot, if he squared up properly, we would have had one crushing heartbreak of a finish.
  24. Vince's need to get Bret involved in WM will prevent that. Until Bret physically leaves Chicago and is on the plane, Vince won't stop trying to get Bret to be a part of WM. Vince's obsession over Montreal is the only thing stronger than his need to show up people who he feels slighted by. I wouldn't put it pass Vince to call in a bomb threat to keep Bret from getting on that flight. Let's face it, Bret is wise enough to know that even if he does appear at WM and even gets involved in the McMahon match...it's not going to end McMahon's obbsession with Montreal. McMahon, will continue to rehash it as often as possible. Why feed McMahon? The crowd would eat it up if Bret got involved in Chicago, and that would give Vince the cue to keep using Montreal.
