This might be a difficult task but which teams make up the top five worst BCS Conference programs? You can't even include Duke anymore!

Armchair Bookers: What if Ricky Steamboat...
Hawk 34 replied to Zack Malibu's topic in General Wrestling
I think Steamboat might have considered a short run in ECW against the likes of Malenko, Benoit and Douglas. However, Steamboat would've been in a very awkward situation with both major mainstream promotions. Too serious for the cartoonish/political world of WCW and too old for the youth movement of WWF. In this situation, I think he sees Hogan coming as well as his band of friends and decides it isn't worth it. Knows that WWF isn't a place for him with the youth movement. He puts over Austin and departs for ECW where he enjoys a brief run in the mid-card and also puts over the new generation. He goes into semi-retirement, working the occasional independent show and perhaps becomes a trainer of sorts. Regardless of the injury, I don't think his career on a mainstream level was gong to last beyond 1995 and he was never a tremendous vocal talent to have a spot as a manager/announcer. -
For sake of curiosity, what is the lowest number of correct picks to win and lowest period in the history of this contest? Has there ever been a winless week?

How shuffled are the rankings with #1, #3,#4 and #9 falling? In fact, LSU isn't putting Miss State away either.

Finally saw Burn After Reading, it was every bit as good as others have said it was. Pitt was the star of this film but I wished we saw more JK Simmons, whom made the absolute most of his limited screen time. I'll happily go back to see this.

Unless Florida State collapses and I wouldn't put it pass them, I'll have a early victory which allows me to enjoy the game tonight instead of worrying about the score.

Absolutely. Shawn will take any high profile match he can get. He was willing to lose cheers for the Flair match and the only thing Shawn hasn't done at WM is be a part of that historic streak (which includes three of his best friends) so I can see him willing to share the crowd. Shawn has a horrible record at WM, so he isn't typically concerned about doing a job as long as it is a major match (although he has had issues with whom he does a job for).

It'd be interesting if they would promote Undertaker being in his hometown in this current persona. It was different in 2001 with the Biker gimmick but how much can you push the Houston element to that hypothetical match with the dead man gimmick? Personally, I don't think the hometown/state issue is that important. The match would be huge anywhere.

I assume you are talking about Chucky. He'd be great for your promotion, I don't know how you can't see that.

Jimmy Yang isn't doing anything other then being Kozlov/Khali fodder. Reunite the Dragons with Yang and Noble. They wouldn't need a gimmick change either. If they still cared, Regal and Burchill could also be a full time tag team. Many opportunities wasted. They could easily float 8-10 good teams around the three brands but that seems to be the case every year and they never pull the trigger.

That's the Chicago Flag. It's Punk's hometown.

However, I couldn't see him giving that honor to Shawn. It'd either have to be against another mega name like Hogan/Cena, to put over a future star or a comedy/brawl type match that doesn't hurt the other guy by doing a job and protects Austin.

Jericho, having lost the Undisputed title at WM18 and winning the World title at Unforgiven this month, went 6 1/2 years between title reigns. And if you add up the time Michaels has missed over the last six years, it's gotta be pretty close to matching the amount of time Jericho missed when he left the company a couple years ago. Other than Hogan getting a cup-of-coffee run in 2002 (his last WWE title run coming in 1993), I can't remember another span between title reigns longer than what Jericho pulled off. And a punch in the mouth for the first person to say Kane trumps it by winning the WWE title in 1998 and the ECW belt in 2008. Does Sting count if it is a different promotion? If so, he lost the NWA World Championship on January 11th, 1990 and never held the title again until October 22nd, 2006.

They took way to much time setting up that final pass attempt.

It does look like a really good show but it wasn't the ROH debut at ECW/New Alhambra Arena. They did a show there in '06 called Arena Warfare.

I agree. This is all for fun. It's nice to win but no need to complain about things you have no control over. Also, great ending to the Fresno/Toledo game in 2OT.
-
Fresno/Toledo ended up being a fun game. Also, Iowa State is making a comeback effort.

Looks like a few ranked teams fell today.

He is a manger at Target. That's a job, a career. He can't perform anymore, so the indy circuit isn't a option. He's making a steady income and keeping his health and his sanity intact while Flair is paying off huge debts, wrestling into his 60's, getting divorced and getting his ass kicked by his daughter's boyfriend.

Past history. It's pretty understandable why that would be the main reaction. It could be that he got in a physical confrontation, threw a fit over something or anything along the lines. Anyone with a better track record would warrant a cautious wait and see reaction but not Jeff Hardy. Speculation is often overblown and hopefully this will be one of those instances but we've seen this before with Jeff and people of similar histories.

Let me know if I took a venue already taken (hard to keep track and some have different names). I wanted to add three more venues, one that can actually be my regular weekly TV venue and another venue to give my promotion an other market. First, I already have the Dallas Market covered with Texas Stadium but obviously that's only for the mega-show, having another smaller venue to serve as my home base and the weekly tv taping venue would be nice. I will add Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas Gateway Arena in Sioux City, IA and Cajundome in Lafayette, LA This gives me markets of Dallas/Ft. Worth, St. Louis, Daytona, Iowa, Georgia and Louisiana

They can always find a use for a JTTS big man. Although, Palumbo could serve the same purpose and give a better match.
-
IIRC, didn't they pre-tape that segment? I don't think it was live. If Vince had a problem with London smiling, he should've just said "Cut!" and told him to knock it off. The explosion was taped but I believe the walk scene was live.

When it comes to public perception, the face of the company is Vince McMahon. As far as proclaiming someone to be the franchise of the WWE empire, that's strictly a generational thing. Bruno, Andre, Hogan, Warrior, Bret, Shawn, Taker, Rock, Austin, Triple H and John Cena all reach a different generation and in some cases, a different part of a generation.
-
Don't worry, Triple H will return to save the day. Along with special weekly appearences from Stone Cold Steve Austin as well as the triumphant and miraculous recovery of Vincent Kennedy McMahon. How much longer is the USA contract, anyways? A 2.6 isn't horrible for cable but it's really, really bad for WWE. That's nearly WCW death numbers. What will be defense here? The power outage in the midwest? Hurricane Ike's path of rage? Students back to school?
