Because there ARE no busy network lineups. Tuesday is a terrible night for television (other than House which is a good show, but not one I really care for), most of the programming is reality shows (I've counted around 7 or 8 on at one time some tuesdays)and most of the people who watch reality shows aren't in the WWE's targeted demographic anyhow. I'll probably watch it tonight because honestly there's NOTHING else on. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> House/Commander in Chief/Amazing Race all do good ratings and they all air @ the same time as tonight's smackdown special. If Smackdown struggles to draw a good rating on a friday night with nothing against it, how can they expect a good rating for a show that horrible promoted and against stronger field.

Why was UPN willing to give them a special hour of air-time on tuesday night against busy network line ups when the ratings are less then nothing on a quiet night like friday?

The show had no bearing on either guy's status, but they're saving the finish for a future show. It's not that hard to understand why a non-advertised first-time matchup between the company's top heel and face would end in a schmozz. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Something that they could have remedied by not doing that match at all. A tribute show shouldn't have a cheap finish like that for it's main event. There were ample options for a main event beyond Cena and Orton.

I would like to see Kurt Angle shift into that position seeing as he's been over as he is. WWE usually panics and goes with the big men. I would expect TBS or Kane before Angle. Shawn and Flair have been protrayed as the top faces the last 3 months anyways.

Looks like the show was worth skipping but as I expected the last man standing match was indeed a nwa tribute and that Shawn would play a factor in the end. Another case of WWE ruining a potential surprise by announcing UT's return for tonight as it also gave away the result. How many extra buys was it going to get? very few. The Lashley booking was poorly designed as well. There was no need for him to take a pin-fall lost. They could have simply had a count-out scenairo with Kane or TBS.

I never thought anything could be more fake then wrestling but rap is making a case for it.

Let's see, the Invasion was something we never thought we'd see. RAW vs SD has been happening on every show for the last couple of weeks, and with rare exception doesn't offer anything we haven't seen before. The main drawing card was Eddie vs HBK, but obviously that's not happening, so what's your point exactly? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't forget that both these matches are different. Invasion was a standard 10 man tag match with historical elements while tonight's match is a traditional survivor series match with zero historical value.

Sorry to divert the thread back to the original discussion but I have to agree that tonight’s show is completely devoid of any interesting purpose to watch, much less order the show. What is on the line for the main event? Nothing at all. Bragging rights don’t exist because Raw is still the #1 show regardless of tonights result. Why are we supposed to be interested in this? The supposed specialty of a Raw vs. Smackdown match that has become all too common these days and has completely blurred the lines of any resemblance to an actual brand separation. The match itself suffers because on Team Raw, you have one credible performer in Shawn Michaels and 4 virtual dead-weights against Team Smackdown that provides some boost from Mysterio and JBL (to an certain degree). A match involving the likes of Chris Masters, Carlito, Lashley, TBS, Kane and Undertaker (maybe) doesn’t offer much hope in expecting a quality piece of work here. However they could easily cover it up with smart booking but that’s a faint wish. You can almost assure that HBK factors into the end of the match because he’ll be carrying his team. The rest of the card offers very little. In fact, 2 of the matches have been done to death. Angle Vs Cena and Booker T Vs Chris Benoit. You can usually feel confident that those matches won’t be horrible but what’s special about it when you seen it over 20 times in the last year and in the case of Booker & Benoit over 200 times in the last half decade. Triple H and Ric Flair will offer another match desperate to recapture the spirit of 1980’s NWA but actually fails to achieve it. Blood and drama can be guaranteed but in the end it’s the same old match. The other two offerings are a joke and a rushed match with little intrigue. The shortage of matches and the fact two of them shouldn’t by any means go beyond 10 minutes will suggest that match times will be long, which could be a positive or a negative.

I think it is time to acknowledge that Chicago is the best team in the NFC. The Bears might not be the most exciting team to watch but they are winners and look like winners, even with a suspect starting QB who fits the Trent Dilfer role.

I saw Walk the Line on thanksgiving day and I'm pleased to see that it's holding steady at the box office and hope it remains so because as others already stated, it was indeed a kick ass movie. To say everyone has heard of Rent is an inaccurate assessment to make because Broadway plays no matter how successful isn’t always going to be widely known with some notable exceptions. I don't believe Rent qualifies in that category. Rent made a decent if somewhat disappointing opening of $18 million thanks to a core audience but there are indicators showing it won't get much word of mouth and that it's not getting any interest from potential viewers who aren't clued into what Rent is. Repeat business thanks to devoted fan-base will help though. I also agree with the Ryan Reynolds sentiments, he is a solid comedic performer but he has a weakness for selecting low brow and ultimately cheap comedies. Just Friends looks as generic as a comedy can be and that wasn’t helping his case at all to be a leading role star. It also hurt that he had another comedy bomb just a few weeks ago. He obtained moderate cult like fame for Van Wilder but hasn’t managed to parlay that into a bigger career.
